RSRV Changes in BI7

Hi All,
I am having trouble with queries on all of my infoproviders and wanted to run some checks using rsrv. One person suggested I run the checks located under All Elementary Tests in the Query folder, but I do not have a query folder because I am on BI 7. Can anyone suggest the alternative? I have already run all related checks in this folder and it found no related errors.
The reason I am doing this is because when I create a mandatory user variable on any query, the selection box that appears when I execute the query only comes up blank. I have made sure I have master data tables and data in the infoproviders, so perhaps I am doing something wrong that is more obvious. I'm on BI 7 and BEX 3.5

I don't think you're understanding me.
Firstly, I understand you don't see a query folder: neither do I. I posted this thread on the basis of what another SDN user claimed, so it might be they have a custom query folder others don't usually have.
And most importantly, regarding default values in a variable: You do not need default values in order for the selection menu to appear. When you create a mandatory variable on a characteristic and it has no default value and is set to ready for input, the selection screen that appears upon execution is supposed to at least DISPLAY the menu for the characteristic so that you can select a value. The problom in my case is that it does not display this menu and that is NOT normal.
When I select a default value I have the same problem. It happens with all variables.

Selection screen problem in BI7

We upgraded to BI7-SP17, but the front end we would like to use BW3.5 tool. After the upgradation, we could see a change in the selection scree. I mean it looks in white background which is different from what we had previously (blue background)! How do we change this!

How to handle password changes if we implement singlesignon between BO& BI7

As we know ,we can implement single signon between BO and SAP BI 7, by importing roles and users through CMC and by selecting the option "Use Single signon during report refresh time".
My doubt here is, When we import roles from SAP and Auto import the users, is it only the SAP usernames that are stored in BO repository or both username and password. If second case holds true then how to handle/manage password change for a user who is already imported in BO sometime back?
Would the password changes be reflected automatically in BO?
Please guide me if you think that I'm thinking in a wrong direction.

password changes are reflected automatically in BO. BO just forwards the data to the SAP side and it does the real authentification.

PS: Keep in mind that you cannot change the SAP password on the BO login screen if your SAP password has expired. You have to do this with the SAP client (SAP GUI)

BI7 - Workbook doesn't take query change

Hello, with BW 3.0 whenever you update the query within a workbook, to make sure the workbook is updated with your modification do a right clic>Properties>Interaction and you tick "Return to global definition on refresh"
Then you save your existing workbook.
I'm looking for the same option in BI 7 but I can't find it.
Does anyone know if this option is available or not ?

if u try the Pause/ Refresh Automatic refresh
than its should work
or change the navigational status of the query. This keeps the interface to your query synchronized with the data on the server. When pause automatic refresh is active, you can navigate your query without having to wait for it to update with the current data.
The pause automatic refresh state is recommended for performance reasons, for example, if you intend to make several changes to the query properties and several navigational steps in succession without displaying the corresponding data immediately.
When you activate refresh, variables are not automatically processed by default. In other words, you cannot change variable values. You can change this behavior so that you are always prompted to enter new variable values when you activate refresh by selecting Process Variables on Refresh in the properties for the workbook (see Workbook Settings).
After opening a query or a workbook, ensure that refresh is active to continue navigating with the current state of the data.
Activities
●      To enable refresh, and thus request the current valid data from the server, choose Refresh from the analysis toolbar, or the BEx Analyzer ® Refresh from the menu. The function name changes to Pause Automatic Refresh.
●      If you have activated the refresh function and you want to pause automatic refreshing of current valid data, choose Pause Automatic Refresh from the analysis toolbar, or BEx Analyzer ® Pause Automatic Refresh from the menu. The function name changes to Refresh.
Note
●        A query can only be refreshed if a connection exists between the BEx Analyzer and the BI system. If you are not connected to a system, you are first prompted to log on using the SAP Logon dialog box.

where can I change my Display Mode of the Query. I have 12 rows, but shows me only 4 rows. Then I have to scroll right with a button.

This is what I'm already doing in the program by setting the edit mode for the column '3_ATWRT'. But I want to switch from edit to display mode and back again. This is not working. Only when I buildup the fieldcatalog this is working?

BI7 : Change full load to delta load - things to do?

Since am not familiar with BW request clarity as to how to achieve the following :
We are on BI 7.
On our BW server, One of the Existing process chain loads data as full load daily Till date.
This schedule runs for about 4 to 6 hours during the nights. And the data seems to be growing.
And doing full load, now seems, not that meaningful for data analysis.
So we now feel we need not do a full load every day. But do only the incremental load.
How to make this effective in our existing process chains.
I went thro the 2 links above, but a few things am not clear.
What exactly needs to be done to change a full load into a delta load.
Also do not wish to have any data loss happening.
We run the schedules on a particular process chain for BW around 1 am.
Say from tomorrow I want to have the data loading as delta.
What exactly are the steps to be followed.
Precautions to be taken
So that we have the correct data load and no data is lost - while doing this.
Things to do am not clear :
do initialization with data transfer / or without data tranfer ?
The make it delta?
So that from tomorrow all data loading becomes delta ?
Or
since in our scenario,
daily basis it is full load.
Just make it delta load,
so that whatever changes will run in the next days schedule.
What all things are to be done stepwise.
if anyone could advise.
That would be very helpful.
Also any documentation which explains all these if someone could share the link please ?

Generic Delta
If a field exists in the extract structure of a DataSource that contains values which increase monotonously over time, you can define delta capability for this DataSource. If such a delta-relevant field exists in the extract structure, such as a timestamp, the system determines the data volume transferred in the delta method by comparing the maximum value transferred with the last load with the amount of data that has since entered the system. Only the data that has newly arrived is transferred.
To get the delta, generic delta management translates the update mode into a selection criterion. The selection of the request is enhanced with an interval for the delta-relevant field. The lower limit of the interval is known from the previous extraction. The upper limit is taken from the current value, such as the timestamp or the time of extraction. You can use security intervals to ensure that all data is taken into consideration in the extractions. After the data request was transferred to the extractor, and the data was extracted, the extractor then informs generic delta management that the pointer can be set to the upper limit of the previously returned interval.
The delta for generic DataSources cannot be used with a BW system release prior to 3.0. In older SAP BW releases, the system does not replicate DataSources for master data and texts that were made delta-enabled using the delta for generic DataSources.
Determining the Generic Delta for a DataSource
       1.      Choose Generic Delta.
       2.      In the subsequent dialog box, specify the delta-determining field and the type for this field.
       3.      Maintain the settings for the generic delta:
                            a.      Specify a security interval.
The purpose of a security interval is to make the system take into consideration records that appear during the extraction process but which remain unextracted (since they have yet to be saved) during the next extraction.
You have the option of adding a security interval to the upper limit/lower limit of the interval.
A security interval should only be specified for the lower limit when the delta method results in a new status for changed records, in other words, when the status is overwritten in BW. In this case, duplicate data records that could arise in such a safety interval have no affect on BW.
                            b.      Choose the delta type for the data to be extracted.
The delta type is used to determine how extracted data is interpreted in BW and which data targets in which it can be posted.
With the delta type additive delta, the record to be loaded for summarizable key figures only returns the change to the key figure. The extracted data is added in BW. DataSources with this delta type can supply both ODS objects and InfoCubes with data.
With the delta type New Status for Changed Records, every record to be loaded returns the new status for all key figures and characteristics. The values are overwritten in BW. DataSources with this delta type can write the data into ODS objects and master data tables.
       4.      Save your entries.
Delta transfer is now possible for this DataSource.
After generating the DataSource, you can see this from the marking for the field Delta Update on the DataSource: Customer Version screen.
In systems from release 4.0B, you can display the current value of the delta-relevant field in the delta queue.

The FULL load is running for long time and after some time it fails with processing Overdue. ( It is loading directly into datatargets no PSA as this is Daily FULL load to cube, deleting the previous request) The job overview is successfully finished in source system.
While load running in details tab under processing..

If no errors arose then a success message is logged per process.
Messages from source system

These messages are sent by IDoc from the source system. Both the extractor itself as well as the service API can send messages. When errors occur, several messages are usually sent together.
From the source system, there are several types of messages that can be differentiated by the so-called Info-IDoc-Status. The IDoc with status 2 plays a particular role here; it describes the number of records that have been extracted in a source system and sent to BI. The number of the records received in BI is checked against this information.

0FISCPER text variable "External Characteristic Value Key" has changed

Hello!
Could somebody help and tell, why in BI7.0 version (but 3.x RRMX version) the format of the 0FISCPER text variable (also other time characteristics) has changed from 001.2007 (version 3.x) to 0/1 .0700 (version 7.0)?
I cannot understand the logic of the new Exterternal characteristic calue key. What can I do about it?

I figured out myself the reason for the problem: in the new version the fiscal year variant has to be defined in report so that the 0FISCPER would work.

In BI 7.0,
we cannot add a characteristic to an existing dimension if the data is not deleted from the cube.
It can go to a new dimension and that will not change the existing structure of the cube tables, but will just add to it (as another dim table). or use remodeling.

Change Order of key figures

Hi Gurus,
We are using BI 7.0. & MS excel 2003 & 2007 both.
I've designed a query with 10 Key figures.
After execution, based on Key figures I have Added Local Formula in query.
Now I want to change the order of Key Figures and bring Newly added Local Formula column at 3rd position.
I've tried using Select Filter... and changed the order of column as I want, but this doesn't work.
I can drag the column & drop it at desired position. It's working that way in office 2003.
But in office 2007, Drag and Drop not working at all. Even for characteristics also.
Is this problem with BEx Excel Patch? I've installed excel patch for both 2003 & 2007. But still not working properly.
Please suggest. If you know latest patch available for office 2003 & 2007, please suggest.

seems you need to check with the Basis Team for proper installation of the BEx Excel patch

BCS Short Dumps after Upgrade (3.5 to BI7)

Hi SDN,
We have recently upgraded our dev system from BW3.5 to BW 7 (SEM BW 6) and following the upgrade none of the queries based on the BCS virtual info provider(Remote Cube) ZVBCS01 are working or the listcube transaction on cube ZVBCS01 in RSA1.
Both the queries and listcube short dump with DATREF_NOT_ASSIGNED (Details "DATREF_NOT_ASSIGNED" "SAPLUCR0" "LUCR0U08" "PROVIDE_SEM_DATA_TABLE_3")
We have raised a call with SAP OSS they recommended to activate the InfoObject 0BCS_REPMOD from business content and regenerate the data basis. We did all this but still experience the short dumps. (We havenu2019t assigned 0BCS_REPMOD to any Infoproviders or the data basis)
We will be unable to upgrade to BI7 unless we can resolve this issue so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the responses, we have managed to get BCS working now following the upgrade.
Following the activation of the business content, I had to regen the Data Basis but the way I did it originally wasnu2019t enough to force a regeneration. So I had to make a small change to the data basis (move of field names and back again) which was enough to do the re-gen.
We have experienced quite a few issues with the upgrade from SEM 4 to 6.

Problem with Java Script after upgrade from BW 3.5 to BI7

Dear Colleagues,
We're facing the issue with Java Script after upgrade of BW 3.5 to BI7.
Just after update we checked the basic functionality and it occured that some of web templates that use Java Script don't work. They generate seelction screen, but after selection the screen becomes blank without any error messages.
We're currently stucked since web templates weren't converted to BI7 version so they should work exactly as before the upgrade.
We compared the Java code with other environment that was not upgraded - it's perfectly the same.
The only explanation that comes to my mind is that some Java Script settings on the server level were changed during the upgrade but I have no idea where I can check that.

Unfortunately, http cache clean-up did not help. But there is another funny thing I found - for exactly the same 3.5 webtemplate html code returned from WebAS 3.5 was different then from 7.0.

Hi,
Some features of BI 7 are
1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

Error analysis

I have gone through below old thread, but its for old SP

In our case, I guess it refers to our patch level as this SAP Note is referring to support package 17,
but we have implemented support package 21.
Please help <REMOVED_BY_MODERATOR> as this is blocking our next level in BI upgrade process.

Error while executing Report in BI7.0

Hello Friends,
My BI7.0 system is a fresh installation.
I have created a query using Nw2004s Bi Frontend-Bex Query Designer.
After saving the changes when I click on Execute Button (in between Saveall & Check buttons) I am getting an error in the browser
The page cant be displayed. & the URL is

Further to what Manjunath has pointed out..
Note Symptom
After pressing the "Execute" button in Web Application Designer, Query designer or Report Designer, the url is not valid. Possible variations are:
The server is not included
The port is not included
URL is like http:///irj..... (missing server & port)
Other terms
URL generation, Execute Query, Execute Web Template, Execute Report
Reason and Prerequisites
Missing configuration of the portal. Check following:
      1. Start the transaction SE37
      2. Call the Module RSWAD_URL_GET
      3. Fill the parameters as follows
           I_ACTION: NEW
           I_OBJTYPE: QU
           I_TECHNAME: QUERY
      4. Execute and check the result
      5. E_URL=http://<your expected server>:<your expected port>/irj/...&QUERY=QUERY
Solution
If the result is as you expect, the problem is not in the configuration. In other case please do following:
Run the transaction SE16
View the table RSPOR_T_PORTAL
Execute it (expand the width to see the parameter URL_PREFIX)
Check if there is a prefix for your portal maintained
If not, correct it editing this table directly.
For any other configuration problems please read the note 917950
