Rss feed address for a wiki page

Wondering what the rrs feed url is for a group wiki- I've tried a few in mail to subscribe to but they dont seem to work. Maybe I need the password/user name somehow

I'm not running the Wiki software to check this; the following is generic RSS.
Is there an RSS icon (often an orange chicklet, though Safari shows a blue RSS chicklet) visible (somewhere) in the browser?
If so, there's an RSS feed. If not, there probably isn't. (Or your chosen browser doesn't display RSS feeds, mayhap?)
In most browsers, you can click on the RSS icon to subscribe.
If your browser doesn't have the RSS icon, you can usually determine if there is a View Source (often Cmd-U) and search for the RSS entry in the HTML text. Cut-and-paste the URL into your RSS viewer, and off you go.
Depending on the browser and how the browser and the RSS viewer is configured, clicking on the icon will subscribe to the RSS feed. (The feed will be subscribed in some RSS viewer, though maybe not the one you wanted to use.)
I don't know of a good way to get the RSS feed in Safari without either subscribing (and then fetching the URL out of the RSS stash), or without looking at the URL. I haven't found a chord that retrieves it into the paste buffer.

so from the above  markup  the name field is not part of the edit form,, i think this is because the Name is part of the Document content type and not part of the enterprisewiki content type .. so is there a way to add the name field to the edit
    form ?.
second question, the edit form will show all the content type fields such as ; standard, document type, department , title (display in search), etc   so what is the best way to remove these fields from the custom edit form ?

    Hello John,
This can only be done by adding VBScript to the form. It would basically be:
    Sub Item_Open()
    Item.GetInspector.SetCurrentFormPage "P.2"
    End Sub
... where "P.2" would be what you named the page you want to display first.

  • How to get RSS feed url for site?

Is there a way to get the RSS feed url for a blog using Safari?  I'm currently using FF for this since it is very simple.  But that's about the only reason I use FF.  Would be nice not to need two tools.
I don't want to subscribe to the site in Safari.  I have an RSS Reader app that I plug the url into.  I just want to see the url.

For some reason they removed that handy feature from Safari. But, there is an Extension called RSS Menu, which will add a button on your toolbar, giving you that function back.

what is the best rss feed reader for my mac?  I have a macbook pro, my OS is Mountain Lion, and browser is firefox.  Thanks

What's best is a matter of personal preference.  Search Google or the App Store and read the reviews.

  • RSS/itpc/why can't I change the feed address on my iWeb page?

So...I'm good on HTML and computers in general but I'm a little vague on the whole 'hosting' and 'feed' thing.
I've made a podcast in Garagebang. I clicked SHARE WITH iWEB.
    no problem
I made my webpage for it in iWeb (web.mac.com/hordover)
    no problem
Folks on PCs can't use the SUBSCRIBE button
    problem.
I've spent most of today trying to switch the feed button...I'm stuck.
I've signed up at FeedBurner (but I'm gathering this doesn't actually HOLD the file). I've got an account at OurMedia.com, but can't get the file uploaded for some reason (using their uploading program, not the website. Podcast's 30mb).
I'm not sure what to do next or where to go next.
But the RSS feed on the SUBSCRIBE button has the code "itpc://" which doens't appear to be...anything.

        Weinmaster5,
I understand your concern and definitely want to help! Have you tried adding the additional caregiver this way http://vz.to/1zE7nMX?

  • IWeb RSS feed address is wrong and "Visit" button address is wrong

Any ideas why when visitors try to use the RSS feed, it uses an incorrect address ? How/where do I correct the address the RSS feed should direct to? I'm using mobileme to host my webpage and blog.
As an extra question, when I hit the VISIT button on the bottom of the iWEb editing page, the link is also broken. Are these two related?
Thanks to everyone for any input!

If you type that in, and go to the blog, and hit the RSS feed, it doesn't work. . .

  • Having trouble accessing rss feed addresses through safari

When I'm looking at a blog in Safari, and click the button for (say) "RSS feeds, entries," I get an error message that says "no associated application could be found." I have no way to get the feed address.
I used to get a pop-up menu that allowed me  to to either import the feed into one of the popular readers, or to cut and paste it manually.I'm using Feedly  now (and playing with Digg Reader), if that helps.
On Firefox, all works exactly as expected.

I have recently uninstalled Trusted Extensions on a few of the machines and I have full use of the browser manager for my APC PowerChute software. Are there certain privledges I need to set up within TX to allow local access to the afformentioned port/software?

  • RSS Feed Headers for Multiple Blogs on My Site

I have been using iWeb to design a new site that contains two separate blogs:
    http://web.me.com/matthew.sholler/Site/Notebook/Notebook.html
    http://web.me.com/matthew.sholler/Site/Civics/Civics.html
When I test the RSS feed for each in Safari, however, I have a problem. The "Notebook" blog name appears in the blue banner, but when I access the "Civics" blog feed, its name does not. Can anyone tell me how to make it appear? I realize that Apple may not have intended to allow the use of more than one blog for iWeb, but any creative solutions for my idea are welcome.

I figured this out myself: In my haste to redesign the layout of my blog pages, I left the pre-set text box for the blog name blank--so the feed banner appeared blank as well.
On a side note, I've seen a lot of questions on this board concerning blogs and feeds, and many of them have gone unanswered for months. How are people supposed to rely on this board for support if no one answers their questions?

  • Why does the Java script work on my RSS feed work for Internet explorer but not for Firefox?

I have finished building the website for my Girlfriend and the only thing left is the RSS feed. It works just fine in IE 8 but in Fire Fox 9 when the widget is clicked a bookmark box pops up and asks if I want to save it as a bookmark. I am not a Java script programer so I am hoping for some help here!! Here is the script:
    <li id="rss"><a href="http://www.susangabrielle.com/1/feed" title="RSS" alt="rss"><img src="/files/theme/rss.png"></a></li>
    The sight is http://www.susangabrielle.com

Presumably you fixed it, the RSS seems to work for me

  • What does a new non-DE user need? | Help for a Wiki page

    Hey Archers,
I'm using Arch with the Compiz Standalone Window Manager and I need some help for a project.
It turns out (who knew) that computers need a lot more to run smoothly than just a desktop and applications. You need network managers, gtk themes and much much more. Now, Desktop Environments such as GNOME and KDE provide a lot of these programs built-in, good for them, but I'm looking to build my system as dependency-free as I can and the big DE's don't really provide that. Especially GNOME just ropes me in whenever I want to use the tiniest piece of it (darn you gnome-keyring).
So I come to you fora, with a quest for information. I want to compile an overview of essential and useful applications with minimal dependencies that allow a CompizIndy user to build his system freely. And if I get enough information, I want to turn it into its own page for the Wiki so it becomes easier to get started with a birds-eye view of what you need to flesh out your system (not exclusively for CompizIndy btw). So please help me!
What applications/daemons/tools should a new system install? I'm not asking which ones are the best or worst or your favorites, just which kinds do you need --that aren't covered in the install guide--?
For example it's advisable to get:
    Panel/dock
    desktop manager
    network manager
    compositing manager
a tool for managing removable devices (ntfs-3g etc)
    a packer/unpacker
    a screensaver
    power management
    alt-F2 runcommand
    custom keybindings
    a user switch/logout manager
    a volume manager
    etc.
So what do you recommend? What do you need to get up and going?
Hoping to hear from you guys and girls,
    Matthias
PS: if I'm doubling up on anything, please let me know and save me effort and embarassment ^_^

There are many threads on this, although individual ones asking for "the best app to do XXX". You could try searching those. Also Search for the LnF Awards threads. you might find a few ideas there. We also have wiki pages for light-weight applications which might be useful
    Panel/dock  none
    desktop manager none
    network manager netcfg
compositing manager none or xcompmgr (for basic compositing)
a tool for managing removable devices (ntfs-3g etc) udiskie or udev rules or devmon
a packer/unpacker coreutils eg - tar, bzip etc with an alias called "ex" in .aliases
    a screensaver none
    power management ???
    alt-F2 runcommand gmrun
    custom keybindings xbindkeys
    a user switch/logout manager none
    a volume manager see udiskie....
BTW, if this is for you, then simply install Arch and use a non DE based WM --- eventually you will figure out what you are missing

  • RSS Feed title for blog shows default text

I've made my first pass at an iWeb blog on me.com. When I subscribe via RSS, the title of the blog shows up as "About this Blog". Is there a place in iWeb where I can change this?
    Thanks!

I have been watching this thread every day waiting for the solution. Surely Apple will allow us to name our RSS feeds something other than "No Title." ... anyone?

  • Help: Editing RSS Feed Button for Feedburner URL

I have an RSS feed on my iWeb site - just the standard RSS item from the iWeb menu, but I'd like to change the URL to the feed to a Feedburner URL.
Is there any way of doing this without having a custom button? I can't see any way using inspector or anything...
    TIA

I think I'll just create a custom button with the RSS link on it, containing the link to the Feedburner feed.
After looking around a bunch, I'm not sure you can do this as an iWeb setting...

  • Should I link to my RSS feed or to the iTunes page from my website?

On A Story For Bedtime I want to put a link to a podcast of the stories, should I link to the apple iTunes music store magic launching URL like this or should I link directly to my XML like this . A fair percentage of my audience will not have a clue what XML is, so the iTunes link seems easier, but I don't really want to imply that iTunes and an iPod is the only way to listen to a podcast.

It is considered good practice to link to both.
You should let people know that if they have iTunes to subscribe with one button and if they do not - to subscribe to your XML feed.
Many people also include a link to their Page in podcasts.yahoo.com or their Odeo page.
Here is an example of what Senator John Edwards has on his page.
    http://oneamericacommittee.com/media/podcasts/
But at a minimum you should offer your iTunes page and a link to your RSS / XML feed.
