RSS feed based on omni portlet ?

We have a project that needs to create an XML Publisher portlet ..
We need to develop a RSS feed.
can we use omni portlet for this aim ?
Is there any complete documents here or anyone can give more details on this?
Thanks for your help...

I have worked on a portal project in the past that created an RSS feed by creating a pl/sql function to generate the XML. The function is then invoked through mod_plsql. I believe the developer of the feed downloaded the original source from the portal website somewhere.

  • How can I include the article text/body in the RSS feed of the wiki updates section?

I recently migrated from Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server.  Largely, because some people had trouble accessing via their PC under SLS.
Our primary tool is the wiki.
In Snow Leopard Server, we could generate an RSS feed for specific saved searches or recent changes/updates, adjust article length in the RSS feed, etc.  Using a feed burner, like Feed My Inbox, we were able to have a daily digest "emailed" to a mailing list.  Whereby, we'd get an email of any wiki articles that had changed, along with text from the body, so we can see the changes to the article in the email.
With Lion Server, the only RSS "feed" we can find appears to be on the Updates page.  Which is fine. Are there others?
Second, the we can't seem to change the article "length" at all.  All we see on the Updates feed is the title, change date, who made the change.  We used to be able to see a few sentences of the article body/text for each article...not just the title, but some of the changes.
Of course, our feed burner, now only sends along the article title in the digest...no text beyond that.
We've used the built in push notification in Lion Server, but again, that sends a nice email saying Wiki Article Title "X" has been modified by User "Y" with the date/time stamp.  You can click the link to read more, but no article /body is sent.
Is there a way to generate an RSS feed/link that shows not just the recent updated titles, but the first few lines of text in the article body itself in the index/summary?
I appear to be missing an easy way to generate RSS feeds, based on search criteria.  And changing the article length in the sidebar, to max, never seems to show any of the wiki article.
How can I show a portion of the wiki article body/text underneath the title of the article in the RSS feed in Lion Server?  Not just the article title and changed date?

About a month ago, I spend zillion hours to migrate from Eudora to Mail.
Eudora has been wonderful to me since Day 1 back in the early 90's. But, it has been discontinued as a commercial product. I had used the Japanese version of Eudora for several years, but it did not like communicating with Exchange at work.
I tried and tried various email clients before settling on Mail.
When I pictured interactions among my Mac, iPhone, and whatever email client I choose, Mail was just the simplest way. But, Mail is not Eudora. And, I dearly miss Eudora.
If there is no way to alter the contents of received email in Mail, I would have to adopt your approach on a case-by-case basis.
    Thanks for your help, though.

  • Rss feed of the podcast directory?

    Hey all,
Does anyone know if Apple publishes RSS feeds of the iTunes Store's Podcast directory? I would love to be able to use an rss feed based on keyword search or popularity and be able to write a small application where my site visitors can find relevant podcasts from iTunes and then click to subscribe.

  • I'd like a search keyword-based RSS Feed for iOS apps. Possible?

It's great that Apple offers a variety of RSS feeds for the iTunes store. I'd like to be able to further hone the feed to particular search-based keywords. For example, limit the top paid apps to just those about dogs or some other long-tail (I did NOT mean that as a pun :-) ) keyword term. Is this possible?
Alternatively, if one could convert Apple JSON-based searches into an RSS feed, that would do the trick, too. An example JSON feed:
    http://itunes.apple.com/search?term=dog&entity=iPadSoftware&limit=200

    Hi all,
I am looking to display RSS feeds in Portlet. I am aware of use of OmniPortlet to achieve the same. I want to look at some other open source standard options to go about doing the same.
Can some please throw some ideas for displaying RSS feeds without using OmniPortlet?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Locale Based Omni Portlet

    Hi,
I am currently developing an application using the Oracle webcenter framework. I wanted to have a locale based Omni Portlet whcih could bring in information from the database according to the locale set.
There are a few more things like moving the portlet direction left to right or changing the keys to arabic ones. Is there any solution that is possible

problem solved. There is a locale variable that one can use. It returns the current locale of the Application Server. The only issue is your application should also be configured to that locale

Here is the code I used on the RSS Parser file. Yet when I

Please when you have a question post the feed URL, not its contents. For reference, your feed is at
    http://gamersscope.emachine08.com/podcast.rss
You have failed to close the category tag, which renders the feed unreadable. You need to add a line as here:
    <itunes:category text="Games &amp; Hobbies">
    <itunes:category text="Video Games"/>
    </itunes:category>
    <itunes:owner>
Though it doesn't affect the validity of the feed, your link tag:
    <link>http://gamersscope.emachine08.com</link>
leads to a server directory, not a page.

  • How can I create an RSS feed from my Azure Storage Blob?

I'm a Tech Evangelist at Microsoft, based out of Philadelphia. I also have a podcast,

  • How do I add RSS feeds into my website (created in Muse)?

Hi i am redoing a website for a client and previously the website was created in Wordpress (I pressume) and I am now working in Adobe Muse. Previsouly they had a simple text based RSS feed from various websites displayed in columns on their site. Now they want that again, but I am new to muse and website designing and need some help, I do not even know if my terminology is correct.
Maybe I should describe what I want: I want the headlines of posts from other independant sites to appear as a clickable link on my site with the date under it. and as new articles is posted on these outside websites, my "Interesting links" coloumn on my website must also update....
I hope I am making myself clear...

  • Certain RSS feeds do not display in scrolling Omniportlet

I've been attempting to get some RSS feeds implemented in our portal with mixed results. I am using portal and PDK versions 10.1.2.0.0. I am using a slightly modified version of the XSL file available here (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/viewlets/omniportletnews.xsl) as I've added pubDate as a field.
Some feeds, like NPR's top stories (http://www.npr.org/rss/rss.php?id=1001) will scroll fine, though others, like the FDA's news feed (http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/news/rssPress.xml) give an empty portlet frame. Both of these feeds display when the portlet layout is set to Plain.
Is there a trick that I'm missing?
    Jeeg

If you go to http://www.portaltown.com, under Demos\Dash and Demos\Dash Editor you can see an RSS feed aggregator that provides graphical layout for a portal page. This provides an extremly simple way to grab feeds and publish them with dynamic parameters (height,width,positon,scrollers,etc..) which can be user defineable if elected. It can also be integrated with OID for user and group access. It is built with Java and Oracle libraries and is totally free for download with source included. Portaltown can also help with the integration into your enviornment if desired to ensure successful integration.

  • Error using XSQL to generate RSS feeds on Unix

I`m using an XSQL file used with a stylesheet to render an RSS 2.0 feed.
RSS readers can pick the feed up successfully when I used a Windows based Oracle Application server installation but not when it was migrated to a Unix based server.
Both servers do successfuly render the RSS feed into Internet Explorer as raw XML which looks identical.
    Any ideas?

Check the content type of the response comming from your Unix server. There may be a different content type value for one of the HTTP header, which have some impact on your RSS reader.
Using FireFox is another way to see if there are subtille differences in the responses that IE does not detect.
    Hope this helps,
    Eric

  • External RSS feed through Omniportlet?

Just curious to know how to get an external RSS news feed to work properly through the Omniportlet in 10g. I've got the feed coming in and filtered properly, but the link that is created when the portlet displays includes the base portal url (i.e. http://whatever.com/pls/portal/http://actual.newsfeed.url).
In looking through the online help for the Omniportlet, it states that you need to pass a fully qualified URL for external data, but there isn't a way to pass a qualified URL dynamically. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work on external RSS feeds if you need to hardcode the URL.
Am I missing something, or was this an oversight/bug?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Kevin,
Here are the answers to your questions:-
What is involved with upgrading to Portal Tools 9.0.4.0.2?
You need to upgrade only PortalTools and not complete OracleAS Portal. But because there is a dependency of PortalTools on OracleAS Portal, you need to verify the Pre-requisites for upgrading to a specific version of Portaltools. But as you are already on OracleAS Portal 904, you will not have any issues upgrading to the latest PortalTools 90402.
    Is this upgrading the portal application, some small collection of portlets, or what?&lt;br&gt;
Portal Tools is a collection of deployable OracleAS Portal tools built on Oracle's PDK-Java technology.
    This includes the following:
    i. WebClipping
    ii. OmniPortlet
Once you have deployed PortalTools, you can use the portlets contained within the pre-configured providers under the Portal Tools.
Isn't is possible to just upgrade the one portlet in OmniPortlet?
Upgrading to the latest PortalTools does not involve upgrading OracleAS Portal, it involves upgrading a set of Libraries and re-deploying the PortalTools application.
Please follow the complete document for Upgrading Portaltools, this document is available at &lt;PortalTools_Unzip_Folder&gt;\pdk\portalTools\upgrading.to.90402.html
    Hope this helps.
Please get back incase you have any further questions.
    Take care,

  • ITunes U RSS feeds and Firefox Live bookmark

It seems there is a problem with rss feeds and ffox live bookmarks.
I tried subscribing to - http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Feed/itunes.stanford.edu.1524698736 .01524698739. However I do not get the plus sign indicating there are additional items.

Apple allows you to interact with iTunes U as an administrator through an XML-based web service. It's described in the iTunes U administrators guide:
    http://tinyurl.com/5nm73n
In particular, you're looking for the UpdateGroup web service directive:
    http://tinyurl.com/bmh2xw
If you send Apple an UpdateGroup directive, referring to a specific group (tab) within a course that feeds from one of your RSS servers, you're asking Apple to process the feed "now" (where "now" is defined to be "as soon as possible") as opposed to having to wait for an overnight feed refresh.
Have a look at the documentation ... if you're a little bit of a developer, it should make some sense. If not, I owe someone from Apple a favor and might give you a simpler way of using the directive ... without requiring you to write code yourself.
