RSS Feed Headers for Multiple Blogs on My Site

I have been using iWeb to design a new site that contains two separate blogs:
http://web.me.com/matthew.sholler/Site/Notebook/Notebook.html
http://web.me.com/matthew.sholler/Site/Civics/Civics.html
When I test the RSS feed for each in Safari, however, I have a problem. The "Notebook" blog name appears in the blue banner, but when I access the "Civics" blog feed, its name does not. Can anyone tell me how to make it appear? I realize that Apple may not have intended to allow the use of more than one blog for iWeb, but any creative solutions for my idea are welcome.

I figured this out myself: In my haste to redesign the layout of my blog pages, I left the pre-set text box for the blog name blank--so the feed banner appeared blank as well.
On a side note, I've seen a lot of questions on this board concerning blogs and feeds, and many of them have gone unanswered for months. How are people supposed to rely on this board for support if no one answers their questions?

  • How to get RSS feed url for site?

Is there a way to get the RSS feed url for a blog using Safari?  I'm currently using FF for this since it is very simple.  But that's about the only reason I use FF.  Would be nice not to need two tools.
I don't want to subscribe to the site in Safari.  I have an RSS Reader app that I plug the url into.  I just want to see the url.

For some reason they removed that handy feature from Safari. But, there is an Extension called RSS Menu, which will add a button on your toolbar, giving you that function back.

  • Can you add an RSS feed on an iweb blog that would allow visitors to receive new entries by email?

Can you add an RSS feed on an iweb blog that would allow visitors to receive new blog entries through their email?

RSS feeds don't do that - if they add the feed to an RSS reader (including Safari or FireFox) they will see new updates every time they check: but sending them emails on each added episode would require extra programming in the actual program, which iWeb doesn't provide. You would need to have a mailing list and send out an email manually each time you add an episode.

  • RSS Feed title for blog shows default text

I've made my first pass at an iWeb blog on me.com. When I subscribe via RSS, the title of the blog shows up as "About this Blog". Is there a place in iWeb where I can change this?
    Thanks!

I have been watching this thread every day waiting for the solution. Surely Apple will allow us to name our RSS feeds something other than "No Title." ... anyone?

  • RSS XML Files for a Blog and Podcast on Same Website With iTunes Feed

Does iWeb support both a separate blog and podcast on the same website feeding the Podcast to iTunes? I got my podcast going on iTunes, then it stopped working after I changed the iTunes podcast name in iWeb and didn't edit the xml file. My podcast is gone on iTunes and I can't get the xml files correct for the blog or the podcast. I'm submitting the correct URL to iTunes but iTunes continues generarting 404 errors.

No answers. Will re-post more clearly

  • RSS Feed with Password Protected Blog

I just got done setting up a password protected blog on my .mac site w/ personal domain. I tested out the RSS Feed in NewsFire, and it worked fine (prompted for username and password), and it also works in the Mail program. I had a friend ask if it would work in her Google Reader, so I tried it out using my Google account, and it doesn't seem to want to work -- says the feed cannot be retrieved. Same thing when I tried to plug it into my Yahoo page. I set up another site with a test blog w/ no password protection, and it worked fine in the Google reader.
So I am assuming that the other readers are just not sophisticated enough to display feed from a password protected page. So my question is whether or not there's anything I can do (or advise them to do) to get around it.
    TIA for any perspective.

    Hi, JO
I'm having the same problem with password protection on, though I hadn't tested with it off.
I don't have a solution (though I'd like to find one), but I can add more info to the problem: when I tested my website on Internet Explorer in Windows (I run windows on my iMac with Parallels), the search function did work with the password protection on.
I'd really like to know how to get the Search button to work on the Mac with password protection on.

  • Why does the Java script work on my RSS feed work for Internet explorer but not for Firefox?

I have finished building the website for my Girlfriend and the only thing left is the RSS feed. It works just fine in IE 8 but in Fire Fox 9 when the widget is clicked a bookmark box pops up and asks if I want to save it as a bookmark. I am not a Java script programer so I am hoping for some help here!! Here is the script:
    <li id="rss"><a href="http://www.susangabrielle.com/1/feed" title="RSS" alt="rss"><img src="/files/theme/rss.png"></a></li>
    The sight is http://www.susangabrielle.com

Presumably you fixed it, the RSS seems to work for me
    * e.g. http://www.susangabrielle.com/1/post/2012/01/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit.html <br/> although I get a message about missing plugins

  • Rss feed address for a wiki page

Wondering what the rrs feed url is for a group wiki- I've tried a few in mail to subscribe to but they dont seem to work. Maybe I need the password/user name somehow

I'm not running the Wiki software to check this; the following is generic RSS.
Is there an RSS icon (often an orange chicklet, though Safari shows a blue RSS chicklet) visible (somewhere) in the browser?
If so, there's an RSS feed. If not, there probably isn't. (Or your chosen browser doesn't display RSS feeds, mayhap?)
In most browsers, you can click on the RSS icon to subscribe.
If your browser doesn't have the RSS icon, you can usually determine if there is a View Source (often Cmd-U) and search for the RSS entry in the HTML text. Cut-and-paste the URL into your RSS viewer, and off you go.
Depending on the browser and how the browser and the RSS viewer is configured, clicking on the icon will subscribe to the RSS feed. (The feed will be subscribed in some RSS viewer, though maybe not the one you wanted to use.)
I don't know of a good way to get the RSS feed in Safari without either subscribing (and then fetching the URL out of the RSS stash), or without looking at the URL. I haven't found a chord that retrieves it into the paste buffer.

  • Help: Editing RSS Feed Button for Feedburner URL

I have an RSS feed on my iWeb site - just the standard RSS item from the iWeb menu, but I'd like to change the URL to the feed to a Feedburner URL.
Is there any way of doing this without having a custom button? I can't see any way using inspector or anything...
    TIA

I think I'll just create a custom button with the RSS link on it, containing the link to the Feedburner feed.
After looking around a bunch, I'm not sure you can do this as an iWeb setting...

  • Non scrollable headers for multiple report regions on a page. Please help!!

    Hi everyone,
I am having two report regions on my page and am trying to have the static/non scrollable headers for both the report regions. I followed on of the threads in the forum and was able get the static headers for one region, but am not able to for second region. I put my app on apex :
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=38724:1:1083512384327081:::::
    workspace:sk
    username : guestdev
    password :guestdev
Can anyone please help me? Appreciate your help.
    regards,
    Suma.

    Hello Suma,
The first parameter of the MakeStaticHeader() function is your table id, and it defines the "playground" of the function. If you want to apply static headers to two reports, you need to define two unique IDs, one for each report.
Change your SKstandard… report template, and define the table ID to be "table_grab1". Duplicate this template, and change the ID to be "table_grab2". Applied the templates to your reports, and use the correlated IDs as parameters to the MakeStaticHeader() function.
    Regards,
    Arie.

  • Setup ACE probe for HTTP host headers for multiple sites on rservers

We have multiple sites on each server. Is there a way to have the probe only stop traffic to a specific site or header and not take the complete rserver offline?
    Thanks
    Greg

If you are running multiple web servers on same servers using same IP addresse on the server. Then Host header field differentiate these web instances on the same physical machine.
Use header command under http probe definition to send appropriate HOST value with probe rquest
    e.g
    probe http site1
    interval 2
    faildetect 1000
    passdetect interval 2
    passdetect count 1
    header Host header-value "www.site1.com"
    expect status 200 200
    probe http site2
    interval 2
    faildetect 1000
    passdetect interval 2
    passdetect count 1
    header Host header-value "www.site2.com"
    expect status 200 200

  • Creating RSS feeds to iTunes U for the public or other portals to use

I looked in the documentation but was unable to see any information on setting up RSS feeds for course content.
Is there a way to view the RSS feed address for a podcast like - http://itunes.stanford.edu/rss.html? They have addresses like - http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Feed/itunes.stanford.edu.1291405182 .01291405187

On the off chance that posting this will get me banned from the board,
David, to be honest, I seriously doubt this gets you banned. Or reprimanded.
I think "the big notion" behind iTunes U is the Apple is allowing us to
take part in the synergy that exists between iPod/iPhone and iTunes
and apply it to our educational purposes. But I do not think that using
iTunes (the application) is a requirement ... it is more of the reason to
do iTunes U. It's not a "must", it's a "why" ... if you follow me.
iTunes U is about portable and asynchronous access to content ... it's about
brushing up on, say, a WWDC session while I'm on the "el" on my way to work.
While I might, conceivably, be able to wrangle WWDC sessions using something
other than iTunes, I'm never going to have the same ease-of-use experience
that I would just using iTunes to do everything.

Now, a few caveats here...that file must be publically accessible, meaning the "all" credential must have download privileges. If it does not, you will get a Forbidden restriction error.
I suspect it'd work if "Unauthenticated" also had download access to the file.
The good news there is that, as you point out, Apple continues to
enforce our security policies no matter how the file is accessed (iTunes,
    NetNewsWire, etc.).
You've found an interesting little hack ... it's something to know.

  • RSS Feed Issues

I built a blog in iWeb which is hosted by MobileMe on my personal domain. I use Feedburner for the RSS Feed.
Here is my raw feed address: http://www.ryanfirpo.com/filmmaker/Blog/rss.xml
Here is my Feedburner feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ryan918FILMS
Can anyone tell me how to:
    1) Get the RSS Feed to display images.
    2) Get the RSS Feed to embed video.
    3) Get the RSS Feed to retain all my previous posts. Right now it will only show the five newest at any given time (in any RSS Reader).
I apologize about the multiple posts. I'm just completely at a loss as to where to go next and there seems to be no information about this specific problem anywhere on the web (I've done a lot of searching). I thought posting something that simply and concisely explained my problem would be beneficial.
BTW I only began using Feedburner because I wanted my RSS Feed to display multiple images (at this point, I'd settle for one) and I read this article: http://allaboutiweb.com/index.php/2008/09/better-rss-iweb/
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if it's just to tell me these things can't be done with iWeb. At this point, I really don't know.

I'm trying to use a feed provided by libsyn:
    feed://podcastdoctor.libsyn.com/rss
And it is giving me the same errors as mentioned in this thread:
There was a problem updating the group titled TabName in course CourseTitle - the url http://media.libsyn.com/media/podcastdoctor/40Dr._Rudi_Ansbacher_-Menopause.mp3 could not be read
I don't have control over the libsyn feed, and cannot tell if:
    1) the redirect on the media file is the cause
    2) the xml feed is invalid (libsyn support said it was OK).
The frustrating thing is this feed is used in the Apple Store on the Podcasting side... so I am not sure why it won't also work in iTunesU.
    Thanks!
    John
