RSS Feed on Oracle AS Portal 10g

Hi All,
I have Oracle AS Portal 10g. I want RSS Feed feature on it. Can anybody suggest me how I can achieve this?
Please share any tutorial link if any of you have.

I am getting this error while trying to add the omniportlet.

Which is the relevant exam. You can double change by going down the list of ceriifcation exams:

My understanding is that for developers often releases are broadly similar and therefore the effort in updating the exam is simply unsustainable. For say Oracle DBA exams the situation may be different as their may be signifcant changes/enhancements between releases that are important to be aware of to manager the database effectively.
Please be aware I am not massively familiar with weblogic and myy anwer is not authorative.

I suspect your Database Access Descriptor on XE is not /pls/xe, but it probably is 'htmldb'. Same for probably the port (unless you specified port 80 at installation/configuration time). So try:

Certain RSS feeds do not display in scrolling Omniportlet

I've been attempting to get some RSS feeds implemented in our portal with mixed results. I am using portal and PDK versions 10.1.2.0.0. I am using a slightly modified version of the XSL file available here (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/viewlets/omniportletnews.xsl) as I've added pubDate as a field.
Some feeds, like NPR's top stories (http://www.npr.org/rss/rss.php?id=1001) will scroll fine, though others, like the FDA's news feed (http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/news/rssPress.xml) give an empty portlet frame. Both of these feeds display when the portlet layout is set to Plain.
Is there a trick that I'm missing?

If you go to http://www.portaltown.com, under Demos\Dash and Demos\Dash Editor you can see an RSS feed aggregator that provides graphical layout for a portal page. This provides an extremly simple way to grab feeds and publish them with dynamic parameters (height,width,positon,scrollers,etc..) which can be user defineable if elected. It can also be integrated with OID for user and group access. It is built with Java and Oracle libraries and is totally free for download with source included. Portaltown can also help with the integration into your enviornment if desired to ensure successful integration.

RSS Feed Problem with RDF files

Hi everyone,
I created a RSS feed like it is described in this weblog: Implementing A RSS Feed Reader In The Portal
Some RSS URLs work perfectly some don't work.
An example are RSS feeds like http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise.rdf
Are .rdf files different from other RSS feeds?
How can I reference them from the portal?

HI Keith,
Go to ~/LIbrary/Preferences and move the com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist file to the Trash then relaunch Safari.
See if that makes a difference. If not, from the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Empty Cache. Relaunch Safari.

You can find in knowledge exchange a script to create an flash file item type. With this installed you can add a flash file to an item region on a page.

Does OEM Grid Control 10g support monitoring Oracle Portal 10g?

Dear expert,
It seems OEM GC 10g could monitor WebCenter, Weblogic portal and even Websphere portal, but I could not find any info for Oracle Portal. So,
1. Does OEM GC support to monitor Oracle Portal 10g? If not, does it support Oracle Portal 11g?
2. If does not support Oracle Portal, then is there any workaround for it? E.g. if it’s feasible through “web appliation”?
Any comment and docs are welcome.

Do you mean OEM AS Console or OEM GC? Boz I only find these metrics from OEM AS Console, which mentioned in this doc. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/b25987/oracle_portal.htm#CHDFJHDD
If these metrics only available in AS Console, then how to let the OEM send out email notification if critical threshold is over?

Oracle Portal 10g: how to list pages controlled by goup

Hi All,
When administering our Oracle Portal 10g, we are using groups to define who has Manage access to a given page. Is there any way to list what pages a particular group has Manage access to?

Oportalist, thank you very much for that - it was very helpful. When our team ran that query, we got out data like:
- group name
- page name
- access role
- an LDAP identifier such as "cn=departmentname,cn=portal.080610.123111.961450000,cn=groups,dc=business,dc=com,dc=au".
Is there any way to get the actual URL to the pages being queried? The page name by itself isn't always enough context for me to work out what specific page the record is for.

Yes. Infrastructure provides the database to hold the portal metadata, the database and the app server services to manage single sign-on and security for portal, and the portal app server metadata repository (a different thing than the first)
To install App Server Infrastructure, follow the same steps as for a Linux installation. Just use Windows-style path names as compared to Linux style path names.
Make sure the portal is installed into a different home from the infrastructure.

Hi,
We already done some development based on rss feed, but it was not for any portal content.
We generated these files outside portal then scheduled to upload to km folder.
In portal, we have to use km repostitory to store these file. By setting these folders for anonymous access, user can subsribe to this Feed, which will get updated with out login.
The basic requirement to develope rss feed is to understand the xml format. With the help of internet you can learn, its simple.

New OracleAS Portal 10g Courses Released

Oracle University has released two new classes for OracleAS Portal 10g: OracleAS Portal 10g: Build Corporate Portals and OracleAS Portal 10g: Build Portlets with PL/SQL. The first sessions are in February in the US in Reston, VA. These are the very first hand-on classes on Oracle Application Server 10g.
A third class, OracleAS Portal 10g: Build Portlets with Java, will be released soon too.
