RSS feed publishing from OIP

Is there any way to publish an RSS feed of certain blocks within Oracle Instant Portal? We have a block of new content and announcments we would like publish so that RSS readers can read it.

Disappointing that these two Apple products not working together. Nobody at Apple seems to have an answer either.
They do work together. You can create a widget with Dashcode and export it for use in iBooks. But many of the Apple classes that implement the parts in the Dashcode library don't work in iBooks.
For example, it is impossible to have a vertical slider in an iBooks widget if you use Dashcode. The Apple vertical slider class doesn't work because it relies on events that don't exist on an iPad. If you try to use a plain HTML 5 vertical slider instead, it doesn't work either because Safari doesn't implement the HTML 5 spec correctly. According to the spec, you should get a vertical slider if you set the width less than the height. However, when you do that, Safari renders a div that has the correct dimensions, but then places a very short horizontal slider inside the middle of the div.
I would suggest to stick to your own JavaScript and plain HTML 5 as much as possible. But then, if you do that, there really is no point in using Dashcode. You can use any other HTML 5 editor just the same.
The recommendation to use Dashcode probably stems from the fact that this is the only HTML authoring tool that is available from Apple (as far as I know). But no-one bothered to do any work on Dashcode to make it work correctly for iBooks.

    not sure how to get it to show up again

    Copy and paste this url in the location bar and click the button to subscribe to that feed.<br />
    You can move (create ) that bookmark to the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.

  • RSS Feeds in J2EE

    Hi,
    We are planning to develop a webapplication which includes a RSS feeds which uses a standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favorite websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. How we need to go about in java j2ee? Is there any JAVA API which supports this I saw JavaMediaFramework whether this is of any help. Please send few links on how we can develop this which will help me a lot.
    Thanks.

    Thanks gimbal, I am using the ROME API to create RSS feeds and publish it (standalone application). Where I am getting the updated details from the DB
    to display the updated RSS feeds results every 2 minutes using my TIMER scheduler.
    My queries are:-
    How i can publish these information in the web?
    Is it like rather than creating a stand alone desktop app. with main(String args[])
    create a servlet application which will be running in a servlet container, create an index.html for this application which will have
    the URL for RSS feeds to be accessed by the users?
    How these updated RSS feeds which is been published will be accessed by the consumer's and how we can notify these users about an
    updated RSS feeds?
    From the receiver end whether they need to install any RSS reader or aggregators to access the updated RSS feeds?
    Please clarify as you have already an idea about this as I am understanding how it works.This will be of great help.
    Thanks.

  • Remove RSS subscribe button from Iweb 08

    How do I remove the RSS feed button from some of my pages/photo galleries in iWeb 08?
    I also noticed that my navigation bar does not show up in Dreamweaver CS3. The navigation bar would show up fine in the old iWeb. Is there a compatibility issue with the two?
    Thanks in advance.

    Can anyone give me info on how to fix this?
    What browser are you using? FireFox doesn't do RSS unless you add an extension like Sage. Does it work right with Safari?

  • Mail will not delete content of RSS feed in Snow Leopard OSX Mail Update

    I have 2 RSS feeds that subscribe to in Safari and read in Mail. When I delete a link in the feed in Mail and they go to the Trash - all of the links reappear when I relaunch Mail ... the same link reappears in the RSS feed. I have deleted the links, quit Mail, re-subscribed to the RSS feed in Safari - but it still happens. It is as if you can never delete the links in the RSS feed. Did not have this problem prior to updating to Snow Leopard. Anyone know whey that is? Or is the RSS feature in Safari just poorly designed and inadequate?

  • How to get rss feeds in mountain lion mail

    I don't see any way to get Apple RSS feeds to show up in Mountain Lion like the previous OSX. Does anyone one know how?

    You don't. apple has removed the RSS feed features from Mail and Safari. You have to get a third-party RSS reader now.

  • Java, RSS Feed writer and Apache Axis

    Hi all,
    I wasn't sure in which subforum this question belongs, so I decided on this one :)
    I downloaded a RSS feed writer from http://www.rgagnon.com/javadetails/java-0608.html
    The example provided works perfectly when I have a 'dynamic web project', however, I then continue to create a new class in a different package of the same project. When I turn this class into a web service (using Apache Axis), then the test case RSS writer from the other package stops working. The exception thrown is this:
    javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamException: Can not write DOCTYPE declaration (DTD) when not in prolog any more (state 2; start element(s) written)
         at com.ctc.wstx.sw.BaseStreamWriter.verifyWriteDTD(BaseStreamWriter.java:1410)
         at com.ctc.wstx.sw.BaseStreamWriter.writeDTD(BaseStreamWriter.java:561)
         at com.ctc.wstx.evt.WstxEventWriter.add(WstxEventWriter.java:182)
         at mypackage.RSSWriter.write(RSSWriter.java:34)
         at mypackage.TestRSSWriter.main(TestRSSWriter.java:44)
    Update: Someone recommended I try using Rome instead to generate RSS feeds. I'll give it a bash now.

    It appears that someone (you?) has signed a class in the package org.apache.axis.utils.Messages
    with a signature that does not match other clasees in the package.
    If you didn't do it, check with Apache (or whoever you got the package from.)

  • Subscribing to Flickr RSS Feeds in iPhoto

    I don't know how many people know this, but you can view RSS photo feeds directly in iPhoto. If you take someone's RSS Feed address from flickr, for example:
    feed://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photospublic.gne?id=14777744@N00&format=rss200
    Then in iPhoto click Subscribe to Photocast... and insert the address, then click Subscribe. All the photos in the flickr feed now show up in iPhoto! Only catch is, these appear to be just the thumbnails with no way of viewing the fullsize photos! Anyone know a way around this?

    I was just searching through the forums trying to find an answer to the same question you are asking: how can one subsribe (aka photocast) to a flickr RSS and get a good feed that has large photos and not thumbnails...
    And although I too do not have a direct answer, I do have something you might be interested in... Google!
    Have you ever used Google's Picasa web albums? Well I think you will like it much better than flickr (unless you use flickr for its community where it surely wins, but I just wanted a free and easy way to photocast and I found it)
    1) So first you want an easy way to upload pictures to google, which is essentially creating your photocast. To do this get google's free export feature that is a direct plug in into iphoto and works great:
    http://picasa.google.com/web/mac_tools.html
    2) Next, once you have easily uploaded photos navigate to the album's webpage and view it. Here you can find its RSS feed and copy that feed into any iPhoto as a photocast and bingo you have it with full size pictures rather than what flickr gives you
    Limitations include:
    1) Each album has its own RSS rather than an entire user one, but I like this feature over flickr's method of an entire RSS per user...
    2) I tried using different compressions for uploading a single photo. From here I opened iphoto and tested the subscription feed of the photos. As it turns out, the RSS feed still generates thumbnails becaue they do not reflect the true uploaded images' sizes, BUT the size is much larger and better than that of Flickr's size making it a suitable photocasting method. But not perfect because the RSS feed does not contain the entire image as does .Mac's method...
    Hope this helps,
    TM

    Hi Everyone,
    I have found that the Sample RSS Feed Component (as suggested in this thread) no longer work in 11g for RSS Feed ingestion (from a remote server) but are fine for producing RSS Feeds (simple iDoc templating anyhow).
    The logs from the GET_REMOTE_FEED service indicate the following error.
    I have tried this on our DEV server and my local laptop instance and don't believe this is network connectivity issues.
    Alas, I am not a Java programmer to look further into the issue - does anyone have an updated GET_REMOTE_FEED service or can advise on the issue (likely an update to 11g required such as the idcToken? change).
    Thanks

  • RSS feed or Newsfeed on Adobe Muse

    Hello
    can i add a rss feed to my homepage i made with adobe muse ? or something like a newsfeed ?
    When i make a rss feed code from the internet i get one rss feed but that looks so ugly xD

    Hello,
    Currently it's only possible to embed an RSS feed in a Muse site (by inserting the HTML code for a feed into Muse using Object -> Insert HTML). There's no native RSS feed widget in Muse at this time. You may want to check this related video: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/muse-advanced-cms-integration
    Hope this helps.

    <description>Virtualization security companies Hytrust and Catbird will offer integrated compliance reporting that encompasses the hypervisor-host and network environment down through the virtual machine level. Catbird vSecurity, delivered either as a hosted service or virtual appliance, ensures correct hypervisor configuration and deploys network access control (NAC) against unauthorized access and protection against attack via IDS/IPS. Its VMShield component protects client VMs, tracks them as they move and enforces policy.</description>

    </rss>
    So I created a button on my home page, and it is linked to this XML file. Everything works great except it only shows the item that I coded in...I want it to show ALL items.
    Can I do this without having to input each item individually?
    Is this how I should do it anyways with a button linking to this xml file?
    I really want to have like 3-5 of the posts to auto update on my home page but I dont know how to embed the RSS into my HTML home page file.
    Also, the way I have it coded, will it automatically update the new posts?
    or do I have to wait for the new post and input the item into the xml file?
    I am very new to the RSS feed so please help.
    Thanks,

  • Need help with reading RSS feed from SSIS

    Hi all,
    I am trying to read RSS feed from SSIS by using the Script Component. So far I am able to read some information from the RSS feed from the following items included in the code, Title, PublishDate, LastUpdateTime, Id and Summary.
    There are still more item but I am unable to identify the proper data type for the following:
    //Output0Buffer.Description = item.Content;
    //Output0Buffer.Category = item.Categories;
    //Output0Buffer.Comments = item.Summary;
    //Output0Buffer.Source = item.SourceFeed;
    When I define the data for item.Content as Unicode String in the column properties for the Output column I get the following error message:
    Error 1 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.ServiceModel.Syndication.SyndicationContent' to 'string'
    And the same error for the other three variables.
    I am using HTTP Connection manager to read the xml link.
    I tried to google around for some help but I could not find more information about the datatype.
    I appreciate any help if someone can point me to the right solution for reading RSS feed from SSIS.

    Output0Buffer.SetEndOfRowset();
    private byte[] ConvertToBytes(TextSyndicationContent content)
    if (content != null && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(content.Text))
    // convert the string buffer to UTF8 so we can store it in an NTEXT column
    var encoding = new UTF8Encoding();
    return encoding.GetBytes(content.Text);
    return new byte[0];
    Thanks in return.

    You need to make it running outside SSIS 1st. I just do not see why you need to publish it here at the moment.
    And to solve it, doesn't C# has the
    VAR datatype so you do not have to guess.

  • Create RSS feeds from KM News

    Hi all,
    is it possible to create RSS feeds from the standard News items created with Form Based Publishing (XML Forms builders)? In other words, instead if just displaying those news items in the portal, can they be displayed in an RSS reader as well?
    Since it's all XML I would say it is possible, right?
    please advice
    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,
    jRSS - Simple Java RSS Feed Generator
    A simple java API to produce Really Simple Syndication (RSS) documents following the specification version 2.0
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/jrss/
    http://cephas.net/blog/2003/09/07/creating-rss-using-java/
    So generate the RSS in the KM folder where your XMLForm datas are saved.
    After that create a component that accesses this RSS and shows it. You can use RSS Viewer librarys to achieve this:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/rssview/
    So steps are:
    1. Create RSS and save as resource in KM.
    <b>Create a Repository Service, which creates this RSS and also updates it when contents in the folder changes.</b>
    2. Read this resource using a component and create IView from this component.
    I am sure that there are lots of other approches to implement this solution.

  • RSS feed when reverting to .mac from personal domain

    Hi,
    I successfully posted my website on a personal domain but now I want to get back to the regular .mac address.
    I changed the settings of the .mac account and the website appears nicely in the .mac address. However, the RSS feeds keep referring to the personal domain. Any suggestion on how to fix this?
    Thanks a lot!
    Wspiff

    I did a little bit of looking in the html files on my .mac account, and I found that the links in the home.html file were the culprit. They were pointing to my personal domain, which I am currently not using. I am assuming that the home.html is not changed when I publish to .mac, because I haven't made any changes to the front page of the blog. I went ahead and manually changed them in my home.html file, and haven't had any problems since, even with blog updates.
    I assume also that a "publish all to .mac" may not work since I can't figure out how IWeb is getting the RSS link information from .mac. I have not seen any place in inspector or locally otherwise to change the main web site URL. Hope this helps,
    Ryan
