  • How can I include the article text/body in the RSS feed of the wiki updates section?

I recently migrated from Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server.  Largely, because some people had trouble accessing via their PC under SLS.
Our primary tool is the wiki.
In Snow Leopard Server, we could generate an RSS feed for specific saved searches or recent changes/updates, adjust article length in the RSS feed, etc.  Using a feed burner, like Feed My Inbox, we were able to have a daily digest "emailed" to a mailing list.  Whereby, we'd get an email of any wiki articles that had changed, along with text from the body, so we can see the changes to the article in the email.
With Lion Server, the only RSS "feed" we can find appears to be on the Updates page.  Which is fine. Are there others?
Second, the we can't seem to change the article "length" at all.  All we see on the Updates feed is the title, change date, who made the change.  We used to be able to see a few sentences of the article body/text for each article...not just the title, but some of the changes.
Of course, our feed burner, now only sends along the article title in the digest...no text beyond that.
We've used the built in push notification in Lion Server, but again, that sends a nice email saying Wiki Article Title "X" has been modified by User "Y" with the date/time stamp.  You can click the link to read more, but no article /body is sent.
Is there a way to generate an RSS feed/link that shows not just the recent updated titles, but the first few lines of text in the article body itself in the index/summary?
I appear to be missing an easy way to generate RSS feeds, based on search criteria.  And changing the article length in the sidebar, to max, never seems to show any of the wiki article.
How can I show a portion of the wiki article body/text underneath the title of the article in the RSS feed in Lion Server?  Not just the article title and changed date?

About a month ago, I spend zillion hours to migrate from Eudora to Mail.
Eudora has been wonderful to me since Day 1 back in the early 90's. But, it has been discontinued as a commercial product. I had used the Japanese version of Eudora for several years, but it did not like communicating with Exchange at work.
I tried and tried various email clients before settling on Mail.
When I pictured interactions among my Mac, iPhone, and whatever email client I choose, Mail was just the simplest way. But, Mail is not Eudora. And, I dearly miss Eudora.
If there is no way to alter the contents of received email in Mail, I would have to adopt your approach on a case-by-case basis.
    Thanks for your help, though.

  • RSS feeds slow, counter not updating after reading

Until recently, my RSS feeds were functioning normally. They loaded quickly and once read, the counter would reset to zero. This is no longer so. Thinking that I had too many feeds (about 90) I've subdivided them into several folders each containing 20 feeds or so which I open individually in tabs. The problem however persists.
The other annoying aspect is that once a feed has been read/clicked, the counter still shows as if I have unread feeds.
I've deleted the preference files and unchecked the fraudulent security tab but it has made no diference.
    Many thanks,
    Leonardo

Go to the Finder: Your User Account>Library>PubSub>Database folder. There, move the Database.sqlite3 to the desktop and restart Safari. Let me know if the feeds now correctly update. If they do, you'll need to reset any custom settings in the feeds.

  • Make RSS feeds in Mail show up as a number on the Dock like new messages do

I am subscribed to a feed that updates when the Apple refurb site is updated, but since mail does not show me that I have anything new I don't know unless I check it every 30 mins. I would like Mail to show me that I have new RSS info in the Dock, is that possible? If not is there anything available that will do this? Thanks.

DockStar - http://www.ecamm.com/mac/dockstar/. You can add up to 5 badges on your Mail dock icon to show unread counts of different mailboxes or folders, including your RSS feeds. So you can add a second badge for just RSS feeds, or it also has the option to include RSS in your total unread count if you still prefer a single badge.

iweb3 rss feed widget does NOT work in real-time (if at all), I sent feedback to them already (no reply) and I summed up in my post here:
    http://www.cyclosaurus.com/Home/CyclosaurusBlog/Entries/2009/7/25Not_iWebWidget.html
I also included a much better alternative than iweb rss feed widget but you will have to do much of Yahoo's Pipes studying.

don't hold your breath, those guys at apple should know (in five minutes) what the problem is by look at their own code.

  • The RSS feeds don't automatically update in Safari

I've been using safari for a number of years with my RSS feeds updating whilst giving me a number of unread articles in my bookmark bar. For a number of months this has not been updating correctly.
I read all articles but no new one appear dispite new things being posted, this can go on for days and nothing fixes it (not even restarting safari) unless I completely restart my system. I've had this problem as I've said for a few months so it has had at least one software update for lion and I think at least one for safari as well. My sofware updates are all current.
If I go to the feed page it only contains old articles that I have previously read.
    Thanks

  • Has mail lost the rss feed in the mavericks update?

I no longer see the rss feed in mail.  Is this because I did the Mavericks update and will it be coming back?
    Thanks for the help

I know of no email application or app for Mac, paid or free, that also supports RSS.
Did you look at stand alone feed readers?  http://netnewswireapp.com/
    there are many.

  • RSS Feeds in mail not updating

There is another thread [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1322871] about RSS not updating in Mail.app. It is closed so I can't post a response to it. Whilst the solution offered might work it isn't really very elegant.
If RSS feeds no longer seem to be updating then it could be that the SQLite3 database that manages it has some corruption or space issues. The best solution is to fix this database (rather than to replace it as proffered in the other thread). To do so, first quit Mail, then open Terminal and enter:
       /usr/bin/sqlite3 ~/Library/PubSub/Database/Database.sqlite3 vacuum.
When you next open Mail, RSS should be returned to normal

I wonder what the problem is and how to resolve it. Anybody out there have an idea?

  • Rss feed, xml, dreamweaver and updating newsletters

    Hello
Ok.. tell me if I'm wrong but I am under the impression that
somehow I can subscribe to an RSS Feed or download an xml current
news story almost straight into an HTML(ASP, COLD FUSION?) file(s)
and upload to my companies FTP to give our customers a current
customized newsletter.. is this so? is it a spry data set type
importing thing? My company is looking for me to streamline the was
    we process new news stories..
    Thanks

  • All RSS feeds shows as empty

All my RSS feeds shows as empty and refuse to update, the only RSS feeds that dont show up as empty are the one that are not updated.. once a site of which my RSS feeds has data updates.. my RSS feed gos "empty"
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== in the past monrth (around end of april)

Did you try to right-click a feed and select "Reload Live Bookmark"?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

  • RSS Feeds not updating in safari (and Mail)

I have just realized that my RSS feeds (bookmark bar) stopped updating a few days ago.  If I "view all RSS articles," nothing more recent than several days ago appears.  Even when I hit "Update Now" under actions, I get nothing.  I know there are recent articles becasue I sync bookmarks across two MBAs and the other is updating just fine.
As an aside, my mail feed is not updating reliably either.
I updated to 10.7.2 on friday, but my feed worked until Saturday morning.  Any idea what might be casuing this issue?  I'm stumped.
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem. Some of my safari RSS feeds are updating whilst some aren't however if I go to the website and click on feeds again, it shows the latest ones. I think there's a bug in safari. I am running the latest version of Safari & OS X (as of this date). If anyone has a fix on this, it is greatly appreciated.

  • RSS-Feeds and Mac OS 10.4.6 Update

It seems, that the issue with updating the RSS-Feeds in the bookmark bar automatically is not solved by the new Mac OS X update. For testing I changed syncing from hourly to automatically and now the RSS-Feeds are not anymore updated.
I think the issue with syncing the status of the RSS-Feeds is also not solved! Have anyone tested it?

I don't use the synch. option. However, my RSS feeds are updating without problem after the update. If I remember correctly, the RSS feed update was affected by synching through .Mac? Is that true?
What method did you use to update your system. As a rule, I use the combo update. If you used the incremental method, I suggest using the combo update. Remember to repair permissions via Disk Utility after the update.

  • RSS Feed of Survey results doesn't show all responses

Hope someone can help here. I have setup 5 surveys in sharepoint and want to export and analyse the data. I'm aware of the issue which means that because I've used rating scales, when I export to excel the questions output but the responses do not so I'm
attempting to get the data out via an RSS feed which I can then parse into usable data.
The issue is that on one of my surveys, which has 39 responses, the RSS feed view only shows 7 of them! All the others which have mid-20's number of responses work just fine. Any ideas why this might be the case and how I could resolve it?
    With kind regards and appreciation
    Phill

A DFT task with a OLEDB source reading from database I guess or each step of what? Where? Otherwise the DataViewer is awesome, yes it is suitable as it can be placed after the source (where all the data is in the pipe).
Clicking on the green arrow will let you see the rest (page thru the resultset). The total rows is also helpful

  • Error updating the RSS feed "Sent Messages"

I'm getting the following alert message in mail RSS after Upgrade to Lion..
"The RSS feed could not be updated because no associated URL was found. This feed will no longer receive new articles"
Anyone any ideas what this means?

With the change to Apple Support Communities, all the subscriptions were reset.  You'll need to start the RSS feed again.  It can be found on the right side of the page under notifications > View feeds.

  • Firefox 13.0+ bookmarked RSS feeds won't auto refresh

Hello. Since Firefox 13.0 and above (up to the latest 17 pre alpha nightly) the feature that allows your bookmarked RSS feeds to be automatically updated is GONE. Previously popular browser.bookmarks.livemark_refresh_seconds (I had to enter this value) either broken or does not exist in the latest FF versions, it is simply does not work.
I've tried everything, starting from disabling add-ons to safe mode but nothing helps in solving this problem. Could you please tell if this is a bug or this feature is no longer supported in Firefox so I can stop bothering and switch to another browser
    Best Regards

Yes, you now need to refresh the live feed items manually because live feeds now work as regular bookmarks.<br />
Only the initial loading is automatic the first time you open a live feed bookmark.
