Rss feed, xml, dreamweaver and updating newsletters
Hello
Ok.. tell me if I'm wrong but I am under the impression that
somehow I can subscribe to an RSS Feed or download an xml current
news story almost straight into an HTML(ASP, COLD FUSION?) file(s)
and upload to my companies FTP to give our customers a current
customized newsletter.. is this so? is it a spry data set type
importing thing? My company is looking for me to streamline the was
we process new news stories..
Thanks
Rob
sorry bur i don't know!

Latest ep of my podcast doesn't show in iTunes store. Subscribers CAN download it. Podcast page shows 'Total: 3 items' but lists only items 2 and 3. RSS feed is validated and fine. How do I get iTunes to display it?
I've used Feedburner many times and never had such a problem. I am a bit confused, forgive me if I ask for questions already answerd. Have you tried updating the podcast in someone elses copy of iTunes? My guess is that the file is bad since it is working in other programs but not iTunes. I would try making a new .mp4 file and podcasting it and seeing if that works.
Good luck!

Using xml rss feeds in dreamweaver
I used dreamweaver to configure a rss feed in my webpage.
One thing led to another and I was forced to reinstall my php
server via
xampp
Now when I load the page on my computer I have this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method domdocument::loadXML()
in
N:\INETPUB\xampp\htdocs\1purpose_bethel\includes\MM_XSLTransform\MM_XSLTransform.class.ph p
on line 303
I checked the includes folder and I do have the class file
MM_XSLTransform.class.php
but what I am wondering is if there is a place in my php.ini
file that needs
to modified to allow for the RSS feed? Or is there something
else that I am
over looking?
any insight would be greatly appreciated
thank you
KevinHi, I'm also having the same error. I found in some other
forums that I should do the following (I think its you David who
suggested it):
comment the line --> $xml =
DOMDocument::loadXML($content);
then add these two lines
$doc = new DOMDocument();
$err = $doc->loadXML($content);
Well, actually when MM_XSLTransform.class.php was created it
was already updated. But I'm still getting the error.
I'm still a baby in PHP and I've been trying to figure it out
for 2 days and nothing is happening.
Please, please...your response will be highly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Jeng -
Is it possible to create an RSS feed in Dreamweaver CC (Mac 10.8.5)?
I'm a relative beginner in terms of HTML/CSS and Dreaweaver CC. I've created a site using the dynamic layout option in Dreamweaver CC and now want to explore sharing out my content via RSS feeds. I've tried to install the Dreamfeeder extension but it doesn't work and I can't find much posted on this topic. What are my options here?
RSS Feeds are XML files.

How can I include the article text/body in the RSS feed of the wiki updates section?
I recently migrated from Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server. Largely, because some people had trouble accessing via their PC under SLS.
Our primary tool is the wiki.
In Snow Leopard Server, we could generate an RSS feed for specific saved searches or recent changes/updates, adjust article length in the RSS feed, etc. Using a feed burner, like Feed My Inbox, we were able to have a daily digest "emailed" to a mailing list. Whereby, we'd get an email of any wiki articles that had changed, along with text from the body, so we can see the changes to the article in the email.
With Lion Server, the only RSS "feed" we can find appears to be on the Updates page. Which is fine. Are there others?
Second, the we can't seem to change the article "length" at all. All we see on the Updates feed is the title, change date, who made the change. We used to be able to see a few sentences of the article body/text for each article...not just the title, but some of the changes.
Of course, our feed burner, now only sends along the article title in the digest...no text beyond that.
We've used the built in push notification in Lion Server, but again, that sends a nice email saying Wiki Article Title "X" has been modified by User "Y" with the date/time stamp. You can click the link to read more, but no article /body is sent.
Is there a way to generate an RSS feed/link that shows not just the recent updated titles, but the first few lines of text in the article body itself in the index/summary?
I appear to be missing an easy way to generate RSS feeds, based on search criteria. And changing the article length in the sidebar, to max, never seems to show any of the wiki article.
How can I show a portion of the wiki article body/text underneath the title of the article in the RSS feed in Lion Server? Not just the article title and changed date?About a month ago, I spend zillion hours to migrate from Eudora to Mail.
Eudora has been wonderful to me since Day 1 back in the early 90's. But, it has been discontinued as a commercial product. I had used the Japanese version of Eudora for several years, but it did not like communicating with Exchange at work.
I tried and tried various email clients before settling on Mail.
When I pictured interactions among my Mac, iPhone, and whatever email client I choose, Mail was just the simplest way. But, Mail is not Eudora. And, I dearly miss Eudora.
If there is no way to alter the contents of received email in Mail, I would have to adopt your approach on a case-by-case basis.
Thanks for your help, though. -
Hi,
we created a XML iView for a RSS Input. Out problem is, if the rss - feed ends upon .xml everything work fine. Unfortunatly our RSS - feed URL does not end with .xml and so the iView produces only an error message.
Does anyone know how to configure the iView to run without the xml suffix? (We are not able to manipulate the RSS feed)

I run a website created in Dreamweaver CS3. I now wish to add
an RSS feed, allowing visitors to my site to subscribe. However, I
am totally new to this sort of thing, and have no idea how to
create an RSS feed.
Doing a Google search, I find references to something called
Dreamfeed. But in Dreamweaver CS3 Help there is nothing about this
or about RSS. Nor is there anything about RSS in my Peachpit Press
Dreamweaver guide.
I realise this may be a pretty basic/dumb question, but I
would really welcome some guidance on where to start.
Thank you.Martinr7 wrote:

Hi all,
We have deployed Show and Share in our enterprise, and Cisco DMM with DMP licenses.
We would like to integrate the Show and Share updates using the RSS feeds, is it possible to disable the authentication requirement for the RSS feed?
Thanks in advance.Mail in Mountain Lion no longer supports RSS feeds. You have to install an RSS feed reader, as the message suggested.
Regarding the Messages question, see:

Create RSS feed in Dreamweaver CS6
Is there a tutorial or other documentation describing how to add an RSS feed to a page in Dreamweaver (CS6)?
Thanks,
ChickLet me explain, the link to the RSS shows a demonstartion of an RSS feed that originates from this forum. The reason why you did not see your post anymore is because there are (were) newer posts that replaced yours.
This demonstration page was made using Dreamweaver and the markup can be seen when you right click the page and choose View Source or similar.
The demo site was hand coded, but there is very little to it if you have a look at the source code.
I also suggested an alternative if you do not know how to hand code.
If this is not what you want, then please explain what it is that you do want.

RSS feeds slow, counter not updating after reading
Until recently, my RSS feeds were functioning normally. They loaded quickly and once read, the counter would reset to zero. This is no longer so. Thinking that I had too many feeds (about 90) I've subdivided them into several folders each containing 20 feeds or so which I open individually in tabs. The problem however persists.
The other annoying aspect is that once a feed has been read/clicked, the counter still shows as if I have unread feeds.
I've deleted the preference files and unchecked the fraudulent security tab but it has made no diference.
Many thanks,
LeonardoGo to the Finder: Your User Account>Library>PubSub>Database folder. There, move the Database.sqlite3 to the desktop and restart Safari. Let me know if the feeds now correctly update. If they do, you'll need to reset any custom settings in the feeds.

I also included a much better alternative than iweb rss feed widget but you will have to do much of Yahoo's Pipes studying.

The RSS feeds don't automatically update in Safari
I've been using safari for a number of years with my RSS feeds updating whilst giving me a number of unread articles in my bookmark bar. For a number of months this has not been updating correctly.
I read all articles but no new one appear dispite new things being posted, this can go on for days and nothing fixes it (not even restarting safari) unless I completely restart my system. I've had this problem as I've said for a few months so it has had at least one software update for lion and I think at least one for safari as well. My sofware updates are all current.
If I go to the feed page it only contains old articles that I have previously read.

Hello,
I'm having some trouble understanding how can I access a tag in a xml RSS Feed 2 format. Some tags have, what I think to be, namespaces that just ignore my request when accessing such tag. Here is an example:
// XML LOADED

POST TITLE

CATEGORY

DATA[...]

DATA

// FLASH CODE
trace ( xml.channel.item.title ) // Output POST TITLE
trace ( xml.channel.item.content ) // Output undefined or “”
… same for wfw and slash tags.
Any help?
RegardsOne of the ways is to use regular expressions and replace all the unwanted namespaces with pure tags:
1. Get the xml data as string:
var xmlString:String = [write the data here]
2. Pattern for the tags with namespaces is something like this:
var exp:RegExp = /<\\|(\w+):(\w+)>/gi;
3. This is just to demostrate what it outputs: - is not needed in the final code
var tagsArray:Array = xmlString.match(exp);
var currentOccurance:Array;
for (var i:int = 0; i < tagsArray.length; i++) {
currentOccurance = tagsArray[i].split(":");
trace("left = " + currentOccurance[0] + "; right = " + currentOccurance[1]);
It outputs something like this:
left = content; right = encoded>
left = content; right = encoded>
left = wfw; right = commentRss>
left = wfw; right = commentRss>
left = slash; right = comments>
left = slash; right = comments>
4. Depending on what side you want to use in the final tag:
a. If left:
xmlString = xmlString.replace(exp, "$1");
It will make the following changes:
From:

....

To:

....

<wfw>...</wfw>
b. if right:
xmlString = xmlString.replace(exp, "$2>");
It will make the following changes:
To
<encoded>....</encoded>
<commentRss>...</commentRss>
The final code is actually 4 lines only (assuming you use complete event):
var xmlString:String = e.target.data;
var exp:RegExp = /<\\|(\w+):(\w+)>/gi;
xmlString = xmlString.replace(exp, "$1");
var myXML:XML = new XML(xmlString);
Viola! You can parse xml regular way. -
Has mail lost the rss feed in the mavericks update?
I no longer see the rss feed in mail. Is this because I did the Mavericks update and will it be coming back?
