RSS feeds hosted by libsyn don't allow you to play mp3

Hi all,
I found a problem with the RSS reader on the iPhone. If you point it to an RSS feed hosted by libsyn.com, which redirects their files to a different URL, you don't get the ability to play the MP3. For example:
http://www.jazzstage.us/rss.xml
This works in Safari on the Mac, you can click on the MP3 and play it, but it doesn't work on the iPhone.

Windows Phone 8.1 is so full of surprises and opens the Windows Phone faithful up to a new world of apps.
Video editors and
file managers are just some of the new app categories possible thanks to Windows Phone 8.1. We’ve seen an official video editing app from Microsoft already, but today we finally get Files – the official file manager for Windows Phone.

Why do all my other Apple devices not care if the movie I rented from iTunes if it was downloaded directly to that device or not, but the stupid Apple TV won't allow you to play rented movies unless you rented it directly from the Apple TV?
Great, so now I have to airplay it by linking my computer to my Apple TV and then the movie has to buffer! So, all that time I spent downloading the HD video has to technically "download" again by buffering. The more I use Apple TV, the more I feel like this item was not created by Apple. I don't even use it for what I originally purchased it for. If I would have known that anytime I wanted to sync a movie from my computer to Apple TV by using airplay that it would have to buffer the movie, I would have never ever ever ever ever purchased this waste of time device. So the video has to technically play all the way through one time first so Apple TV can "remember" the movie to play it back in real time afterwards.
Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong that can be fixing my problem? I should have known that the Apple TV had so many things backwards when simple things like when you are using the remote and you reach the bottom of your list, in order to cycle back to the top of your list you have then press the directional buton back the other way rather than most modern day devices that will automatically cycle you back to the top or to the other side when you reached the bottom or end but keep on pressing the button. That **** annoys me when I am doing a search for a movie and have to type the name in manually and have to cycle back and forth to the letters. It makes me feel like I am using a rotary phone or something!

I was told by someone to try and purchase something directly from my Apple TV and that will help authorize my Apple TV.  So I picked something that was free and it downloaded.
Then I went back to the Movie that would not work and it played just fine.
So it seemed to work.  I will have to try it on other movies and TV shows later.

  • Is there an app u that allows you to play any video

IS there an app that allows u to play any video formatt without converting it to iPad formatt

There used to be a VLC app but I think it got removed. You can try the VLC Streamer app but I don't know if it is any good. I have the orignial VLC app and it plays all formats well almost all of them.

  • Why does iTunes allow you to play music files that are in the trash?

I recently was up grading my music library why I got my new mac.  I had 2 I tunes libraries on my computer and checked to see which one I was using and deleted the other music folder.  While the folder was in the trash I played the music to make sure that I would not have a problem...... then I empted the trash.  Problem was that after emptining the trash I could not play the music anymore.  so my question is is there a way to set up a preference to not allow I-tune to not allow access to files in the trash.

If an iPod is set to automatically sync from a particular iTunes library, when you connect it to that iTunes library, every song on the iPod exists in the iTunes library.  Therefore, if you want to play a song on the iPod using iTunes on the computer, you can just play that song from the computer's iTunes library, and not the iPod.
If an iPod is set to load songs manually (by dragging songs to the iPod in iTunes), then the iPod is NOT syncing to a particular iTunes library.  The library on the iPod is separate; songs on the iPod may not be in the computer's iTunes library.  Therefore, you can play songs stored on the iPod using iTunes on computer.
If your shuffle happens to be 1st or 2nd gen, they work differently from other iPods.   They are always associated with only one iTunes library at a time, so you cannot play songs on the shuffle using iTunes on the computer.
I was wondering how I could transfer music from my iPod to my library
You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.

  • What is the best Car Charger that will allow you to play ipod thru radio

I have noticed with the charger that I have there is alot of static/interference. What is the best charger with the least amount of distortion. thanks

The better ones are the ones that connect via the cassette deck. I don't have one in my car so I use the iTrip.
I've noticed more interference with mine using the default radio station so I need to find another one. However, I have the first iTrip which is more of a PITA to retune it.)

  • ITunes U RSS Feeds

I am an Admin at a Community College in VA that is part of a system of 23 Community Colleges. Our Systems Office also has an iTunes U instance and I am using RSS feeds from smart groups to give them dynamic content from our instance.
However every month or so the RSS feeds magically stop working. Here's the error message
iTunes U encountered the following error while trying to access the podcast RSS feed: iTunes U could not update the content in this group because iTunes U could not reach the specified RSS feed.
    Any ideas?

Apple allows you to interact with iTunes U as an administrator through an XML-based web service. It's described in the iTunes U administrators guide:
    http://tinyurl.com/5nm73n
In particular, you're looking for the UpdateGroup web service directive:
    http://tinyurl.com/bmh2xw
If you send Apple an UpdateGroup directive, referring to a specific group (tab) within a course that feeds from one of your RSS servers, you're asking Apple to process the feed "now" (where "now" is defined to be "as soon as possible") as opposed to having to wait for an overnight feed refresh.
Have a look at the documentation ... if you're a little bit of a developer, it should make some sense. If not, I owe someone from Apple a favor and might give you a simpler way of using the directive ... without requiring you to write code yourself.

  • RSS Feed Rejected?

    RSS Feed: http://feed.podcastmachine.com/podcasts/9160/mp3.rss
I had a topic a few days ago entitled, "Issue with Subscribing" Thanks to some immaculate help I found out that my RSS feed host server basically broke so I had to re-start from scratch. I had iTunes take down my original podcast and after a few days I go the e-mail that it was all good and removed from the directory.
Ok, so in the mean time I start an account with Podcast Machine, I tested their RSS feed, it worked and I validated it and everything. I try to submit it to iTunes and it rejects it saying that it's already been submitted. After looking through some similar threads on here I'm thinking that it has something to do with the title being so similar so soon so I change it from, "Talkin' That S#!t" to "Talkin' That S#!t with Rage and Fury" and it works and it's submitted. That was about 3 hours ago.
A little less than 20 minutes ago I get an e-mail saying it's been rejected. Can anyone help me here or perhaps give me a number that I can call Apple at for I-Tunes Podcast management because I have NO idea what I've done wrong this time for it to be rejected.

The feed validates and the 'explicit' tag as set to 'yes' to cover any strong language. Not having listened to it I don't know whether there is any content which even so might have upset them; all I can suggest it contacting Support. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

  • Podcast RSS Feed - iWeb to Rapidweaver?

I currently have a podcast on a website that was created in iWeb and is hosted on MacHighway. The podcast is listed on iTunes. I'm transitioning my site from iWeb to Rapidweaver and need to update my RSS feed so that I don't loose any of my subscribers.
Would anyone know the steps to take for this process?

I am aware of the need to rebuild the podcasting webpages from scratch in RW--I actually look forward to it as RW offers much more flexibility and creativity in page layout than iWeb does.
Could you elaborate on the steps to do this?: "When you create the podcast in it just specify the URL and name for the rss file to be the same as before: then it will simply replace the previous file and iTunes will see it as before."
Do I need to somehow name the RW pages with the same naming scheme as the old iWeb pages? I hope not as the iWeb url was so convoluted and I want to streamline it.
Judging by what I'm reading on the forums, i'm afraid I'll just need to rebuild and resubmit a new url. This is by far the easiest. It just pains me to start my subscriptions from scratch -- I have two years of subscribers built up, and no way to communicate with them a new url for the podcast!
Thanks for your time and insights!

  • Podcast rss feeds?

Is there a free dowload to use with Mac for creating RSS feed links?

Firstly, forget about the 301 redirect: it's not worth bothering with that.
This page gives an explanation of what you should do:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
but though I'm not really familiar with Podomatic I'm afraid it may be the case that they don't allow you access to the feed nor provide a method for adding this tag. That's something you will need to check with them, but it's not uncommon with these online services who have no interest in helping you to leave them.
Failing the recommended method, all you can do is email podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them nicely if they can move the Store's attentions to the new feed - I can't promise they will, but they have done for others. Give them the Store page URL and the URLs of both feeds.
Unfortunately, where the first method will also automatically redirect subscribers, this method won't, so they will be left hanging. If you still have access to the old feed you should add an episode just in that one in which you ask people to resubscribe to the new feed.

  • Rss Feed Screensaver

Does anyone know of an RSS feed screensaver which doesn't limit you to feeds on a list? The two that I have on my mac don't allow you to include custom locations for feeds and I don't know why!
    Thanks,
    Pete Cooke

It is possible to use custom feeds with the RSS scrensaver that comes with Tiger.
Just open safari, open the RSS feed you want to use, then add this site to your bookmaks menu.
After this, open the screen saver preferences of the RSS screensaver, and there you can chose the RSS you just bookmarked

  • How to get rss feeds in mountain lion mail

I don't see any way to get Apple RSS feeds to show up in Mountain Lion like the previous OSX. Does anyone one know how?

You don't. apple has removed the RSS feed features from Mail and Safari. You have to get a third-party RSS reader now.
