RSS Feeds in Flex

i have a page that displays live rss feeds. The thing is that, it works correctly when the project is just a Flex Project and run as a flex application. But when i create a Flex project that runs on a server (Tomcat 5.5) with Blaze DS, the rss feeds are not available any more.

Hi there,
I think that you are missing a crossdomain.xml file. It's a policy file that tells the application that "it's ok to read data from location X". Read up here:

How to display a simple rss feed?

Hi,
I've build a simple application that has a httpservice called rss that calls "http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/GlobalBusiness.xml" and retrieves the rss feed. Under test operation I can see it returning the feed.
When the init() function is called the httpservice is called and passed to a datagrid.
However, when I run it I get the following fault.
Security error accessing url
Destination: DefaultHTTP
In the console I get the following messeage:

I have checked different posts online and in this forum describing crossdomain.xml and settings in the flash player global settings to resolve this issue, but I can for some reason not get it to work.
I want to be able to take rss feeds from any site and display them in a simple datagrid?
Any suggestions?

1) I created an http service which calls a php file:

2) The php file then gets the feed and passes it back to the rssNewYorkTimes_resultHandler:

3) the resulthandler then processes the feed and puts it in an arraycollection that can be passed to the datagrid:

Intergrating RSS Feeds into Flash Builder 4...

I am very new to Flash builder 4 and I want to make an application where the app user can read through all the RSS Feeds and get updates everytime their connected to the internet. I am making this for the BlackBerry Playbook if that makes a difference and also can it be really simple instructions like I said I'm very new to this.

Ok, I think you might have your message title worded wrong. I think you want RSS feeds in a FLEX application, not Flash Builder 4 itself??
I, myself, am trying to implement an RSS feed into my application but have other priorities unfortunately.

RSS feed for AMP missing Video 03?

First off, thanks for a great, and free, service!
However, is it just me or is the RSS feed missing Video 03,
Creating a Flex Builder workspace and project? I can of course view
this in the regular online player but would love to have it with
the rest of my offline AMP content.

Yes, video 3 is missing.
Don't know if I am the only one here, but I downloaded ALL of
them over a days time and guess what.... I only have 6 downloaded
now. Happened twice.
WTF?????? Why does AMP delete the vids??
I have downloaded them and moved them out of the app
data/adobe/local/...cache folder where they live so it don't get
deleted again. I also have downloaded them with Flashgot.
Here is the download link for number 3. Who knows when adobe
will get them online and who knows how long AMP will keep them for.

RSS Feed Reader in Catalyst?

Hi everyone,
Is there a way for a Flash Widget created in Catalyst to read an RSS feed? If so, how do I go about doing that?

Rss feeds have a common XML structure. Here's a reference on the rss xml structure.

You'll need to understand this structure so that you know which node of rss content to access. (item, title, description, link)
This would make a nice tutorial or blog post showing workflow from Photoshop > Flash Catalyst > Flash Builder.

Can you load an RSS Feed onto a web site with only Flash AS3 or do you need something else like flex?

NavigateToURL - RSS Feed Reader Linking Issue

Hi, I am working on an RSS feed reader. The reader pulls blog entries just fine, but the results are not clickable. Tried numerous variations of "navigateToURL", but am relatively new to the Flex framework. Is there a way to make generated feed clickable? See code below:

I tried to connect a click event to the feed "title", but I'm not sure that the mouse event function is correct, or that I have placed the "clickHandler(event)" in the right location. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

apex.oracle.com is locked down pretty tight since it is a free service.
I'm surprised that running a restricted Package (DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN) didn't throw an error and laugh at you.
If you want to test that app, you must bring it "in house".

Different rss feeds

I'm fairly new to Flex and I'm working on it for a school
project. I'm trying to make an rss feed that can chose different
blogs from a combo box but so far only the first option at
compiling ever shows up.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I can put code up if that
would help.

The database for the feeds is located in your User Library>Syndication file. This holds display information specific to each feed, including unread item count. Yes, sometimes their behavior is "wonky". Don't know specifically why, however, poor RSS coding could be the source.
It is a pain to go back and reset the display parameters for each feed. Would like Apple to create a "RSS Feed Manager" which allows that very thing in an easier way.
Practically, you can always trash the database file, letting Safari rebuild the feeds. You'll need to call up each Feed to reset the default display parameters to your liking.

RSS feeds containing video

I recall seeing video displaying properly in mail via an rss feed, but it is no longer working for me. Instead, I'm given the error message:
"Viewing this video requires Adobe Flash Player 8 or higher. Download the free player."
I reinstalled the current version of Flash Player hoping that it would solve the problem, but alas, it has not.
Anybody else experiencing this problem, or know how to fix it?

I need help getting my RSS feed compaitble with Itunes...Im almost there.

Can someone help me with my code for itunes. Unfortunately I use rapidweaver to podcast and I have read there are a few things Rapidweaver leaves out when publishing the site so itunes does not accept the feed. My RSS feed works and can be subscribed manually though Itunes or with software. Im thinking im using spaces or it looks like I need to number my tracks for my podcast(which sounds odd but, I know itunes is finicky with spaces, symbols etc)

It's better to post the URL of the feed (as you have subsequently done) than the contents of the feed .
From the FeedValidator report the feed is basically OK for iTunes. There are several occasions where 'content:encoded' sections (following immediately on 'guid' tags) should be enclosed in
<description>...</description>
tags: however all this will be ignored by iTunes anyway and only applies to other readers. The 'potentially dangerous content' referred to by FeedValidator is within the 'content:encoded' tags and so isn't relevant to iTunes. They are referring to an inline css style, and I don't know whether this might cause a problem elsewhere.
You should really have a language tag, e.g.
<language>en-us</language>
(you have a dc:language tag but that's for a different system). This should be placed in the top section, before the first 'item' tag.
It's advisable to have an 'itunes:explicit' tag for each 'item' -
<itunes:explicit>yes IF CONTAINS ADULT MATERIAL, OTHERWISE no</itunes:explicit>
it's not compulsory if you have no adult material, but you must have a 'yes' if you do.
You can check your feed by subscribing in iTunes from the 'Advanced' menu - this has the same result as clicking the 'Subscribe' button on the Store page. If it works OK there you are ready to submit it.

Lenovo System Update and Lenovo Support RSS Feed (X60)

Okay. I got Lenovo System Update (version 5, for Windows 7) and it did not offer me any Critical updates. Only Recommended and Optional ones. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I don't want to install Recommended and Optional updates, only the Critical ones if there is any.
On the other hand I also have the Lenovo Support RSS Feed. But they bring me to dead links. For my X60 the two drivers in my RSS Feed are

Both are totally dead links.
The tricky part is that there is absolutely no correlation between the two: totally different drivers in the System Update and the RSS Feed.

Why does the Java script work on my RSS feed work for Internet explorer but not for Firefox?

I have finished building the website for my Girlfriend and the only thing left is the RSS feed. It works just fine in IE 8 but in Fire Fox 9 when the widget is clicked a bookmark box pops up and asks if I want to save it as a bookmark. I am not a Java script programer so I am hoping for some help here!! Here is the script:

So I created a button on my home page, and it is linked to this XML file. Everything works great except it only shows the item that I coded in...I want it to show ALL items.
Can I do this without having to input each item individually?
Is this how I should do it anyways with a button linking to this xml file?
I really want to have like 3-5 of the posts to auto update on my home page but I dont know how to embed the RSS into my HTML home page file.
Also, the way I have it coded, will it automatically update the new posts?
or do I have to wait for the new post and input the item into the xml file?
I am very new to the RSS feed so please help.

I just want to take away the scroll bar in FF.

I am unable to submit my RSS feed into iTunes

Podcast RSS feed not being accepted by iTunes
I have registered my main podcast RSS feed in iTunes successfully. I want to migrate this RSS feed from feedburner to PowerPress, but I want to prototype it first before I move the real feed. To that end, I created another Blogger blog site and Feedburner rss feed that has the same settings as my main feed. The feed is using SmartCast to configure the RSS feed for iTunes compatibility. I cannot get the test feed to load into iTunes though. I get this error message:
Podcast cover art must be at least 1400x1400 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.
I had the artist give me a 1400x1400 pixel version of the logo in RGB color space (I’m not sure how to verify this). Here is a link to the logo, if anyone can tell by looking at the picture or site what is wrong that needs to be fixed. http://s24.postimg.org/lvuuf7v91/ARP_logo_i_Tunes.jpg
I have read as many forum posts as I can to try and solve this issue and nothing has worked so far. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my image or RSS feed that is causing iTunes to reject the feed?

I was shown on another forum that the web hosting site had resized the image. When I uploaded the image to Image Shack, it was fine. Image Shack does not resize the image on you.

Having trouble setting up RSS feeds

I am new to Firefox , just switched to a Mac. I have tried to set up my RSS feeds on my sidebar. I am not seeing the option for live bookmarks. I imported the feeds from IE, some a showing twice. I am not seeing highlighted posts for new posts.
