RSS Feeds in Mail - error -
Hello,
Please help, my RSS feeds in mail and safari will now not work ?!?!? I can this error in Mail when trying to update a feed :
There was an error updating the RSS feed “Apple Hot News”
An error internal to the Publication Subscription framework occurred.
And when I try to view it in Safari I get this :
Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “feed://images.apple.com/main/rss/hotnews/hotnews.rss”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (PubSub error 203.)” (PubSub:203) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
I was wondering if anyone has a solution to this issue, as RSS feeds are crucial to me ????
Thanks
Joel
I agree. I have had the RSS feed issue in the Mail app and also in Safari, not updating the RSS counts with viewing. Copying the Pub Sub folder from a "Guest" account into a "shared" area on the drive, so I could later use it to replace my current Pub Sub folder fixed both problems. A great fix.

I've subscribed to a couple of RSS feeds in Mail (multiple times because it doesn't seem to be taking) and I'm not seeing anything about RSS in my sidebar. Is there a trick to getting them to show up and being able to read them within Mail?
OK... Back again - this is driving me crazy. I see SEVERAL posts of people having the same issues as me, but I do not see any real answers (in posts, Apple support, or just plain Google).
I do have more information though:
I now have the issue that RSS feeds either stop updating, update and bring back several old posts that I have already deleted (and cleared from the deleted messages), and RSS links disappearing and RSS showing an error (~) next to it, and finally the RSS section disappearing altogether.
I have read some suggestions to go into Finder and delete the SubPubAgent.plist file under the user directory (done that, now it has not reappeared), and to Quit the SubPubAgent process in Activity Monitor, and restart Mail (Have done this SEVERAL times, and it seems to "change" things, but doesn't fix anything). The one thing here that seems to throw up a red flag is that the SubPubAgent process shows 3 threads, and when things are going ok, it looks like it has a Virtual Memory usage of ~30MB - when things go haywire the Virtual Memory shoots up to just under 600MB, at which point I will have received the several old posts, feeds stop updating, or all the feeds just go away in the middle of my session. This 600MB Virtual Memory amount seems to be a limit that something dealing with RSS feeds is "trying" to exceed, and Mail cant handle it. But no matter how many times I try to delete messages to bring things down, they just keep coming back the next time I restart Mail.
ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any support, and take care!

Anyone know of a way to import OMPL rss feeds into Mail?
--AndrewI have a manual way that will work. It will take a few steps but you can import in whole or in batches. If you have many feeds you may want to do in batches so as not to mix them up.
This will work with Vienna. It may just work with other readers too.
1) open Safari, and get to the bookmark manager (menu bar/bookmarks/show all bookmarks)
2) create a temp folder we can use to import the feeds. (*1)
3) open vienna & select a single feed or a range of feeds. (*2)
4) drag & drop the feeds in to the temp folder in safari you created in step 2.
5) open mail, got to (menu bar/file/add rss feed). Select the temp folder (*3)
6) click the all the check boxes and click add and your feeds have been imported. (*4)
If you had to do it manually this worked for me. Beats cut/paste links or manually typing. There is probably other ways to do it. Hope Apple patches this RSS feature soon. I dont want to wait for OSX 10.6 to see an improvement.
Notes:
*1 - Create a temp folder for each sub folder in your news reader. This will speed things up.
*2 - Unfortunately it does not drag and drop the folders you physically have to select the range of feeds. If your selection does include the folder (eg. your selection strattled 2 folders it will still process your selection. In other words it ignores the folder and drags your selection.
*3 - If you did create a temp folder for each folder group you had in your RSS feeder this is a step you would repeat at selecting the various temp folders. But read not 4 before you do.
*4 - Yes you have to individually click each box. Another grip is that even though you highlighted a folder in Mail it will import the feeds to the RSS main folder. This means you have to select & drag/drop into the sub-folder. -

How can I show the full RSS feed in Mail?
is there any way of showing complete rss feeds in mail, because i find it annoying to have to keep on clicking read more????
This is dependent on the RSS feed itself. Many feeds only include summaries of the articles, which is likely what's going on with the feeds you're subscribed to. If the feed does show the full text of the article, it'll show up in Mail.

What did you try In Launchpad?
Hold the option key until the icons start to "jiggle"
Then you should see an X to delete an app.

How to Show URL for Existing RSS Feed in Mail?
I have several RSS feeds in Mail. How do I reveal the URL for those RSS feeds?
See edits above.
Select the feed / feeds in questions and export.
You have to open the .mbox of the feed in question>The files inside the feed.mbox>mbox can be viewed with Textedit, command-F to search may help: X-Mail-Rss-Source-Url
Hope that helps. -
Adding google reader RSS feeds to mail
I have a gmail account for my email and RSS feeds which all syncs nicely with my phone (using google reader and email client)
I also use "mail" on the imac which is set up with the gmail email account. i expected that because the RSS feeds in google reader are linked to the same gmail account that they would also sync onto "mail" but they don't. At the moment there are no RSS feeds.
Is there anyway of syncing the google reader RSS feeds into "mail", so that if i read or add an RSS feed on the web it will also appear in "mail"

Exporting my RSS Feeds from Mail
Is there a way to export my RSS feeds from Mail 3.0 so that I can then reimport them in another iMac at work. I don't have (nor do I want to purchase .Mac for synchronizing), but if there is a way to just export those and import them into Mail on another machine, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!
- MarceloIt's pretty crude but I have an Applescript which scans the Mail RSS folders and dumps an OPML file on your desktop. I wrote it to get a copy of all my feeds for Google Reader - hopefully it'll work for you too...

Help Syncing RSS Feeds from Mail onto Iphone
Hi, Appreciate any ideas on syncing RSS feeds from Mail onto an iphone.
Like receiving RSS feeds in Mail into my inbox rather than using a separate reader such as Netnewswire/Google Reader/etc.
Also would prefer not to have to use safari bookmarks if possible.
Feedback on maybe using Rules to forward RSS feeds to an email address to show up in a mailbox which could then be accessed in Mail on the iphone (I have a Mobile Me account) so thought this might work (and the rule might clear the RSS feed).
Appreciate the input. Cheers, TonyAlso would prefer not to have to use safari bookmarks if possible.
There is an option under the info tab when you plug in your iPhone to not sync bookmarks. -
Moving RSS feeds from Mail to Netnewswire
I have a number of rss feeds in mail. I wish to use a different rss reader. Is there any way to move the urls for the feeds in mail to the new reader without doing it all over manually?
thanks]Try this, it is on another post but seems to be a work around, no worries though the iphone has limitations but those limitation come with a better product (in total) thank others.
"After about a year of searching and thinking, i clicked my way into the solution.
1) Subscribe to a feed if you haven't already and make sure they show in inbox.
2) Go to Mail>Preferences>Rules
3) Click "Add Rule"
4) Fill in the description how you like
5) Leave the any drop down menu alone
6) Click the "Any Recipient" drop down menu and select "Message Type"
7) Click the "Mail" drop down menu and select "RSS"
8) Leave the "Move Message" drop down menu alone
9) Click the final drop down menu and select the mailbox in the level under "Inbox" for example mine is "MobileMe."
10) Press Ok and Apply.
So by the end, my rule sounds like this:
" If any of the following conditions are met: Message Type is RSS Article. Perform the following actions: Move Message to mailbox: MoblieMe."
You should see your RSS feeds fly magically out of the RSS mailbox and into your email mailbox, which syncs with your phone.

What happened to my RSS feeds in Mail?
I bought the new Mountain Lion OS, and now I no longer receive RSS feeds in Mail. I cannot find any soluion except to install an RSS app...which makes no sense to me. So far, not thrilled with the Mountain Lion.
Not thrilled with Mountain Lion either. I had a bunch of RSS feeds that I read and now they all just disappear and I have to spend $5 to get a decent RSS reader? And update Parallels to get that to work. So yes, Apple your OS has gotten cheaper but it's costing me much more in the long run. Wish I hadn't upgraded...
Apple's going the wrong direction -
Have just upgraded to Mountain Lion, there seem to be some backward steps:
used to be able to view RSS feeds in Mail - not possible now
in Safari used to be able to have 2nd search file in toolbar - not possible now either.
Progress???RSS support was removed from Mail and Safari. You'll have to use a third-party app.
