RSS Feeds on iPhone 3g

Hello,
I have RSS feeds set up for various sites around the net such as HardOCP.com or fmylife.com. My questions is this, when I receive the feeds on my iPhone and then go to the website later the site is showing the old news that I already read on my iPhone is there a way to make it so the website no longer shows the old news that I have already looked at on my phone? Also in some cases I have already seen the news on the above mentioned sites but then I receive the old news on my phone. Is there a way to make this stop happening as well? This did not start until I installed the 3.0 update.
I am using an iPhone 3g 8gb with 3.0 installed and NetNewsWire being fed through NewsGator. Please help.

You need to get an RSS reader that supports 2 way sync.

I was wondering how I can get my RSS feeds I have in my mail on my macbook pro to also be on my iPhone? Can anyone give me the steps to do so? Thanks!!!

    hi,
have you tried to put the RSS feeds in a mailbox folder, then add the copy rule in MAIL PREFERENCES then sync to iphone it MIGHT work!

  • What are you using as RSS Reader on iPhone?

I am an RSS junkie, and this is how I quickly get my news every day. If you have not yet discovered the power of RSS, it lets you quickly browse headlines from dozens of web sites in one-stop shopping.
What have you found to be the best way to manage and read RSS feeds on your iPhone?
I had been using a Mac-based app called NewsFire on my MacBook, but they told me there is 0% chance of porting this to be an iPhone app.
So I am shopping for a new RSS reader to manage all of the feeds I subscribe to.
What RSS reader do you like on the iPhone? Are you just using Google Reader or Safari, or have you found something cooler? What do you like about the reader you chose?
    Thanks!
    Brian

I haven't used RSS on iPhone, but I understand if you click an RSS feed in iPhone Safari it'll use
reader.mac.com, though apparently it doesn't have many features. Maybe more sites or widgets will come out sometime?
You can ask Apple for iPhone changes via this link:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

  • Sync RSS feeds from Mail to iPhone?

All I want to do is read my RSS articles on my iPhone... as far as I can tell the only way to do it is to completely change how I read RSS articles... and pay for an iPhone app.... Surely OS X using Mail and iPhone OS 3 can achieve this without too much pain? No?
The best way I've seen so far is to have a new application on my computer and NetNewsWire seems to be the only thing I can find where I can sync the same rss articles on both my computer and phone.
Please help... or please give me some good news that iPhone os4 will have native support for rss and osx mail. Coz I like Mail's RSS, but it seems a bit pointless now that I can't read them on the move.

Try this, it is on another post but seems to be a work around, no worries though the iphone has limitations but those limitation come with a better product (in total) thank others.
"After about a year of searching and thinking, i clicked my way into the solution.
    1) Subscribe to a feed if you haven't already and make sure they show in inbox.
    2) Go to Mail>Preferences>Rules
    3) Click "Add Rule"
    4) Fill in the description how you like
    5) Leave the any drop down menu alone
    6) Click the "Any Recipient" drop down menu and select "Message Type"
    7) Click the "Mail" drop down menu and select "RSS"
    8) Leave the "Move Message" drop down menu alone
    9) Click the final drop down menu and select the mailbox in the level under "Inbox" for example mine is "MobileMe."
    10) Press Ok and Apply.
So by the end, my rule sounds like this:
" If any of the following conditions are met: Message Type is RSS Article. Perform the following actions: Move Message to mailbox: MoblieMe."
You should see your RSS feeds fly magically out of the RSS mailbox and into your email mailbox, which syncs with your phone.

  • RSS feeds to the iPhone

I use MS Outlook for my mail and subscribe to several RSS feeds. They work great in Outlook on my desktop. But they don't carry over to the iPhone. I'm missing the boat here. When away from my desktop, where I usually read those RSS feeds, I'd like to read them on my iPhone. If it could be done, how would I do it?

You can't do it in Outlook on the iPhone but there are plenty of RSS readers for the iPhone. Some keep your feed settings in the cloud so you are synced everywhere, some are stand alone.
Google's is nice and so is NetNewsWire. Both are free.

  • RSS feed readers (MBP, MacPro and iPhone)?

hi all. new mac guy here. not sure if this is the right place for this question.
is there a solid place to organize my RSS feeds? anything that will "sync up" in some way with my other apps? i noticed how Safari has "RSS" in the bookmark bar but this seems like a UI that does not work well for me. I have been reading this in my mail handler Postbox but there seems to be a bug in getting these into Postbox which makes it a bit tiresome.
    TIA for any advice.

Take a look at the RSS Menu app from the App Store.

  • Help Syncing RSS Feeds from Mail onto Iphone

Hi, Appreciate any ideas on syncing RSS feeds from Mail onto an iphone.
Like receiving RSS feeds in Mail into my inbox rather than using a separate reader such as Netnewswire/Google Reader/etc.
Also would prefer not to have to use safari bookmarks if possible.
Feedback on maybe using Rules to forward RSS feeds to an email address to show up in a mailbox which could then be accessed in Mail on the iphone (I have a Mobile Me account) so thought this might work (and the rule might clear the RSS feed).
    Appreciate the input. Cheers, Tony

Also would prefer not to have to use safari bookmarks if possible.
There is an option under the info tab when you plug in your iPhone to not sync bookmarks.

  • Not Seeing the RSS Feed in Podcast in any iPhone or apple product

    Hi,
I'm currently developing a podcast type site in Wordpress and one of the functions they want is the ability to pull an RSS feed of their posts with podcasts into the Podcast app.
I'm using feedburner and have it configured for podcasts and when I try to add the feed manually to Podcast on an iPhone 4 running ios 7 it adds it but it says there are 0 episodes.  (on a side note when I try to add it to iTunes I get the same problem) and I get the same problem on an iPhone 5 running ios7.
I suspect there is something about the feed that apple products don't like but since I'm using feedburner and it should be adjust the feed accordingly I'm not sure where the issue is.  The feedburner URL is:  http://feeds.feedburner.com/timbuild1/IYPr
if anyone can shed any light it would be greatly appreciated, I've searched for hours and read tons of posts, forum posts and articles but I can't find any answers.
    thanks

hehe if somebody knows something this is def you Roger about first thing with seeing pic in itunes i think that i read all possible posts on web in last 7 days and nights and this is not working on my pc with control-click (Windows) but i don't care ! i wait for apple do magic bug fixing on new itunes version. And now about main problem. iOS devices are capable displaying chapter images because this is working right now with some podcast on my phone, i give you pic example iphone 4 iOS 6.1.2
in first pic you can see streaming podcast and chapters (little white dots on bar),second picture is first song with cover of single playing, and if you look close right from the clock zzz simbol is chapter logo, if you press it you will be see pic no.3 so this def working but working when you mad your podcast on mac with garage band ! that's why i write about format ids, tags etc

    http://i.imgur.com/zDOIwrC.png
i test your podcast episode 36 then episode 33 and 31 ! bad news my friend no chapters and no pictures only one main pic. but when i test your podcast in downcast app in my iphone wooo i see text i see your pic i see chapters i see everything. so that mean it's working everywhere like mine except iphone and ipad app and now we come to theory of garage band things tags in m4a files. you write that you have done all this in podcast maker not garage band. This is now real mistery to me !
i analyze your file here and you have in last section menu1 and menu 2 so maybe problem is somwhere around this, not in format id because you have ok format id like one that working ok

  • IPhone /alert/ from Craigslist RSS feed?

Would anyone mind helping me with RSS feeds from Craigslist to my iPhone? I ported to mac awhile ago and this is just killing me that I can't get this to work.
I am using Snow Leopard, Postbox (a Mail equivalent) and I have IOS 5 on my iPhone and I am using Growl/Prowl.
I have been able to get RSS feeds from Craigslist into Postbox and i see them in here as RSS Feeds. However I would really like to get an /alert/ to my iphone.
I have lately been getting ALERTS on my MacBookPro and my MacPro for system processes and I am assuming this is from Growl. I am also getting ALERTS to my iPhone 4 which I am assuming is from how I have my iOS 5 Settings set.
Is there a way to get my RSS FEED ALERTS to the iPhone or to the MacPro or MBP in the same manner as the alerts above?
Thanks in advance for any help!

forgot to mention that the emails/rss from craigslist come from "[email protected]". not sure if that will help solve this but wanted to mention this.
    THANKS

  • How to use iweb rss feed in an iphone web app?

So this is my dilemma.  I wanted my iweb turned into a web app using the rss feed.
This is simply done cause of the "Add To Homescreen" feature.
While the RSS feed works beautifully on safari... it does not read as a webapp.
This surprised me cause I thought it would still be safari that would be loading my web app.
I tried everything to get my RSS feed to work in a web app but i failed miserably.
Is there a fix for this?

Adding to the homescreen doesn't make it a webapp.
It creates a shortcut to the webpage, just as dragging a url to the desktop creates a .webloc file.
    You want an iWeb "webapp"?
Add this page to the homescreen and then click that icon :
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Fancy/Dynamic_Text.html
Then click the links in the dynamic textboxes.
I leave it to you to figure out how it's done. Hint : read the documentation.
To summarize : you want a fix for a problem that does not exist.

  • How can I get my RSS feeds to show up on my iOS devices from iCloud?

How can I get my RSS feeds to show up on my iOS devices from iCloud?  The RSS feeds now show up just fine on my iMac.
On my iMac the appear in a category at the same level as In Box, Sent, etc.  However the term RSS is in lighter grey like Mailboxes, On My Mac, Reminders.  I use Snow Leopard 10.7.5.  Any help will be appreciated as I'd like to read the feeds on my iPad 2 and iPhone 5 when I'm away from home.
    Thank you.

This is helpful, but how do you get both devices to communicate to this single calendar via the iCloud?...
You did not mention that it must be through iCloud.  But then, it can't really do so if you want to maintain separate Apple IDs.
So you just set up an additional calendar on your devices.
iPads, iPhone, Macs can show multiple calendars simultaneously.  I have my work calendar and several personal calendars all showing simultaneously on my iPad, Mac Mini and Macbook Pro.   In the case of my client, they didn't need multiple calendars.  They just were going to use the one shared calendar.  But I did setup the shared Google calendar and separate personal caldendars on their iPhones.  (e.g.: Husband's iPhone = husband's personal Mac Cal + shared Google Calendar.  Wife's iPhone = wife's personal Outlook for Windows Cal + shared Google Calendar.)

  • How can I include the article text/body in the RSS feed of the wiki updates section?

I recently migrated from Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server.  Largely, because some people had trouble accessing via their PC under SLS.
Our primary tool is the wiki.
In Snow Leopard Server, we could generate an RSS feed for specific saved searches or recent changes/updates, adjust article length in the RSS feed, etc.  Using a feed burner, like Feed My Inbox, we were able to have a daily digest "emailed" to a mailing list.  Whereby, we'd get an email of any wiki articles that had changed, along with text from the body, so we can see the changes to the article in the email.
With Lion Server, the only RSS "feed" we can find appears to be on the Updates page.  Which is fine. Are there others?
Second, the we can't seem to change the article "length" at all.  All we see on the Updates feed is the title, change date, who made the change.  We used to be able to see a few sentences of the article body/text for each article...not just the title, but some of the changes.
Of course, our feed burner, now only sends along the article title in the digest...no text beyond that.
We've used the built in push notification in Lion Server, but again, that sends a nice email saying Wiki Article Title "X" has been modified by User "Y" with the date/time stamp.  You can click the link to read more, but no article /body is sent.
Is there a way to generate an RSS feed/link that shows not just the recent updated titles, but the first few lines of text in the article body itself in the index/summary?
I appear to be missing an easy way to generate RSS feeds, based on search criteria.  And changing the article length in the sidebar, to max, never seems to show any of the wiki article.
How can I show a portion of the wiki article body/text underneath the title of the article in the RSS feed in Lion Server?  Not just the article title and changed date?

About a month ago, I spend zillion hours to migrate from Eudora to Mail.
Eudora has been wonderful to me since Day 1 back in the early 90's. But, it has been discontinued as a commercial product. I had used the Japanese version of Eudora for several years, but it did not like communicating with Exchange at work.
I tried and tried various email clients before settling on Mail.
When I pictured interactions among my Mac, iPhone, and whatever email client I choose, Mail was just the simplest way. But, Mail is not Eudora. And, I dearly miss Eudora.
If there is no way to alter the contents of received email in Mail, I would have to adopt your approach on a case-by-case basis.
    Thanks for your help, though.

  • I replaced a podcast episode on my rss feed but it won't delete in iTunes.

Hi. I recently started a podcast and we just became searchable in iTunes yesterday. After recording our second episode a few days ago, one of the podcast hosts finished editing and added the media file to our website and rss feed. I guess he never listened to it before doing so because there is a bad audio problem (one part is way louder than the others.) We have since fixed the audio problem and replaced the file on the post but when I listen to it on iTunes it is still playing the old episode with the audio problem.
I have deleted the entire post for episode 2 and currently episode 1 is the only one in the rss feed (as far as I know.)
It's still showing up on my computer's iTunes and iPhone podcast app. I cleared my iTunes cache and went into settings and deleted the podcast from the podcast app, I unsubscribed and resubscribed and episode 2 is still showing up.
Am I missing something? Is there a better way to clear the cache?
I had thought that subscribing would automatically link to what's happening in my feed but I can't seem to shake that old episode.
I am ready to make a new post with the fixed audio file but I would like to make sure that a.) The old one is gone so that two Episode 2s don't show and b.) that there isn't somewhere the messed up audio file is hiding.
Here is the link to my iTunes podcast feed:

Here is the feed that iTunes is pulling from:

    I greatly appreciate the help.

Mr. Churchill - First, to answer your last questions:
Yes, the movie is fully downloaded, all 3.69 GBs.
No the Apple TV has 127.5 GBs of its 144.63 GBs free.
Second, I tried turning the Time Capsule WiFi rounter and Apple TV off (for at least two or three minutes, not the usual 10 seconds recommended) and I still could not move the movie.
Third, I severed the link and set it up again re-synced all 5,103 items back and still when I move the movies to the Apple TV box and Apply it, after 35 seconds it stops the sync and moves it back the the Rented Movies box.
Though I have set my Apple TV to sync with my MacBook Pro I cannot find a way to connect it to other than shared library, but not the "not shared library" (Is this what the Rented Movies are?). Is what Fletch is talking about int the "Rental Movies not showing up on Apple TV" discussion my problem and a solution?

there are three possibilities: you have not upgraded to version 2.0 or in Summary on the ATV device in iTunes, you should look whether you have it set up to only sync or otherwise disables movie syncing, or you have not paired your Mac to the ATV (on your tv, settings/computers/connect to itunes library - not shared library)

    Or is it something else?

David, to be honest, I seriously doubt this gets you banned. Or reprimanded.
I think "the big notion" behind iTunes U is the Apple is allowing us to
take part in the synergy that exists between iPod/iPhone and iTunes
and apply it to our educational purposes. But I do not think that using
iTunes (the application) is a requirement ... it is more of the reason to
do iTunes U. It's not a "must", it's a "why" ... if you follow me.
iTunes U is about portable and asynchronous access to content ... it's about
brushing up on, say, a WWDC session while I'm on the "el" on my way to work.
While I might, conceivably, be able to wrangle WWDC sessions using something
other than iTunes, I'm never going to have the same ease-of-use experience
that I would just using iTunes to do everything.

Now, a few caveats here...that file must be publically accessible, meaning the "all" credential must have download privileges. If it does not, you will get a Forbidden restriction error.
I suspect it'd work if "Unauthenticated" also had download access to the file.
The good news there is that, as you point out, Apple continues to
enforce our security policies no matter how the file is accessed (iTunes,
    NetNewsWire, etc.).
You've found an interesting little hack ... it's something to know.
