RSS files in Mail-not highlighted & can't open

New Mac Pro, yesterday could open RSS files, today the "RSS MailBox" (in Mail) not highlighted & I can't open.
Have checked all the prefs etc. to no avail.
Interestingly, same with my G4 PowerBook---RSS have been highlighted & I could open & read, but suddenly not today. The prefs seem to be the same in both computers. They both show multiple files in the RSS box.
Any recommendations or suggestions?

Thank you Thomas in fact I have seen your guide before and had gone thru the steps including repair disk which didn´t work. I am erasing disk before checking hardware. I have posted a photo of the 4 decrypted files in the disk utility and also of the adobe icons in the dock and question marks. Some people say if the adobe appears in the dock is because it is the trojan flash player and they keep jumping in the dock. If this is not malware it seems to be an incredible coincidence that when I start seeing these things in my dock and the decrypted files in my disk utility is when my computer goes so slow (I am typing this in my macbook air because to write this message in my imac would be about 6 hours, I am not kidding, it is completely useless at this point it took me 2 and half days too instal mac os x after disk repair, it took me 3 days to transfer just 100 gigabites and now is taking the whole day (and it says another day more) just to erase the disk. Despite all this the icon of adobe keeps jumping in the dock so, although I am no computer and mac expert, just an user, I am inclined to think that it is malware and it is a shame that mac doesnt´recognize it or have anything here to help me get rid of this. I am not even sure if erasing the disk will work since repairing didn´t work... all advice is welcomed.

Discimagemounter and Disc Utility does not work, can't open .dmg HELP PLEASE

I've got a problem with my Mac when I try to open .dmg files I've downloaded. When I open the file it opens then instantly closes down, and when I choose "open with" and try to open with Disc Utility, it says that it quit unexpectedly and asks me to send a report or close it down. I also tried downloading stuff like "iGetter" to open files with, but since I can't open downloaded files I'm stuck in this mess.
I can't repair permissions either, since neither Disc Utility or DiscImagemounter works.
What do I do?

That is a Windows Backup file. I seriously doubt that there will be any way to read that on a Mac. Do you have a Windows machine that you can use to open those files and save the contents in a more friendly format?

How do I delete templete file checked file, edit delete not highlighted

I was having issues with Norton 360 they decided to relaunch my computer - I lost everything I had on it googole chrome ,thunderbird power point etc. last night when I started getting everything back on line, I hit template ( I assume by mistake ) and it is now up under my e mail address just below my incoming email.
I do not understand what purpose it serves. I did not have it showing before. I have tried to hit file button the edit button but gthe delete folder is not highlighted for this folder. Is this something new that has come out ? or how can I get it off my side " line up where incoming , sent ,drafts etc folders are located...

The 'Template' folder appears when you save an email as a Template.
Some people send generic / same emails to people which they like to be able to modify/edit sections, but they do not want to rewrite the actual email or recreate the tables etc so they create an email and then save it as a Template which they can reuse again and again.
Template emails can also be used with Mail merge when needing to send one email to several different people.
Tt is also useful if you create eg: a special xmas email which you want to keep.
If you want to remove it, prepare the folder:
click on 'Templates' folder to see what is in it.
Move email or delete.
right click on Template folder and select 'Compact'
Now locate Profile folder and remove the specified files:

I can view my free hotmail, but I can not take any action on the mail. I can't open or delete anything.

In transfering my favorites to firefox my in file import is not highlighted

I'm trying to import my favorites from IE and the help instructions tell me to go to the file menu and click on import. The import word is not highlighted and I don't know what I not need to do to get it highlighted so I can click on it to continue.

Why does Apple say that Numbers can open and save Excel files, when in actuality, it can only open .XLSX files and only Export to Excel (not save-as excel)?

When attempting to open .XLS files in Numbers, the format is not recognized. When the format is .XLSX, the format is recognized. Why is it this way? It's still much more common for folks to have the .XLS file format on their excel files. Why would Numbers not be backwards-compatible?
Additionally, to state in the benefits of this program that one can save to 'Excel' is a little misleading. You can't save to anything except .numbers. Sure, you can export to Excel (with file extension .XLS, I might add), but you can't save or save-as.
Does anyone else see the irony in being able to export to .XLS but not be able to open an .XLS?
There is something to be said for clarity.
You can't expect folks to have Numbers and Excel on their systems, so how else are they supposed to open .XLS files in Numbers?
And I don't need to see another advertisement for NeoOffice or OpenOffice here, thanks. I'd actually like Numbers to be a little more sensible.

When the advertisements were written, there was no Lion so we were able to Save As Excel.
At thiqs time there is no longer Save As command under Lion but the feature is always available.
When your editing task is ended, you are free to use this scheme:
File > Duplicate
File > Save and in the dialog you will have the option save as Excel.
Numbers isn't and I hope that it will not become an Excel editor.
Its resources contain a flag defining it this way.

Great. That would have been my next suggestion, followed by holding down the power button as last resort!
Now mail has closed forcefully I would still restart the Mac to reset as much as possible.
Come back for more drastic clearing out of associated files if the problem returns.

Autosave file is in Plain Text, can't open

I have my autosave folder on another computer at another location so I had my friend email me the autosave folder, only now I can't open them because they came over as plain text files. Is there a way to change them to fCP project files so I can open them in FCP?

I just tried emailing a working autosave file to myself from MAIL and it worked fine, came through as final cut pro project file, but then I tried it again through safari and if came through as Plain Text. The guy at the other end told me he sent it from MAIL though, unless he was confused. Is there some setting in mail that would need to be changed to not convert the autosave file to plain text.
