RSS Issues in iWeb + iTunes

We have created a website in iWeb (http://web.mac.com/compoundnyc). We have a few entries, but only one podcast posted as of right now. When we first built the site, we were able to click "Subscribe" on our site and we would be able to have the podcast downloaded right into iTunes.
As an experiment, we changed all the dates on the entries to future dates. When we tried to subscribe again, it would not download the podcast. So we went back and reset the dates to the accurate times, republished the whole site and still it would not update in iTunes.
Any ideas?

Are you uploading to a 3rd party server? If so be aware of these limitations:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:

◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ Enhanced slideshows
Included in that is the RSS subscription. Even if you're publishing to MobileMe but you first publish to a folder and then upload you will lose the features above.
If you're serious about the blog I suggest you use one of the tried and true industrial strength blogging sites and then embed that into an iWeb page like this demo page: Embed One Site Within an iWeb Page.

Editing XML/RSS feed in iWeb to input all neccessary information for iTunes

I have been trawling through a lot of the other posts but don't seem to be able to find an answer.
Basically, i have successfully created my own page to host my podcasts and i have had my RSS feed accepted by iTunes. I can now view my podcast from the link the iTunes staff sent to me, however i am unable to find it by typing the name into the search bar. I have read in the podcast help on this forum that it may be because i have to add 'key words' to the XML as this is what the search tool uses to find the podcasts but i am unable to work out exactly how to do this. I have found my XML page and attempted to insert some lines using TextEdit but this just appears to corrupt my feed.
If anyone has had a similar problem and knows of a solution, it would be greatly appreciated by myself.

You do not add XML data into an html file it should be inserted into an XML file look over the iTunes tech spec page provided unfortunately reading comprehension is required.

Photo file issues with iWeb and Aperture....also too much duplicating!!

A little background, before I get into my iWeb issue.....
Years ago I tried iPhoto, but I didn't like how it duplicated all my photo files and I wasn't very fond of the file structure it created. Years later (last month) I got Aperture. Aperture (still has a long way to go) also duplicates all your files and places them in their own file structure. If I can get along with Aperture (and if it will get along with my other programs), I won't mind putting all my files into the file structure it creates. But for now, I still have my original files in the original file structure I have had for many years as a back up.
On to my issue with iWeb and Aperture....
To add photos to iWeb, you can either go into the iWeb media center or you can drag and drop photos from other locations.
1st: iWeb media center
To get my photos into the media center, I would have to load them into iPhoto (iP 6 does allow you to keep your original file structure, but it still creates .jpg files, which fills up your hard-drive. More duplicates I don't need or want). So that is out for me. iP6 will let you view and use your Raw files.
Another way is to drag and drop your file structure directly into the media center window. I don't think this duplicates any files (at least I haven't been able to find any), but it takes an awfully long time to thumbnail all your photos (several hours and still waiting for 22K + files). Also, it won't show any Raw files. Again, out for me.
Aperture won't let you drag and drop its library into the media center at all. So if I was to move all my files into the Aperture Library, I wouldn't be able to access them for iWeb at all.....Out for me.
2nd: Drag and Drop
I was able to drag and drop Raw files directly into iWeb from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Adobe Lightroom.
As I said before, I am trying to move over to Aperture. However, Aperture won't let me drag and drop photos. What is the deal here??? These are both Apple programs and they won't play nice with each other. Very annoying.
Anyway, I put a link below to my iWeb test webpage I made. All the photos were Raw files that I did a drag and drop from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. There were no problems with the publishing.

Perhaps you are right.
I am not a web developer and I will never be. I don't feel like spending countless hours learning how to use Dreamweaver or some other Pro web app. iWeb looked like a way to start making websites of my photos for my friends and family (much easier and better than Home Page on .Mac). All I was asking was for a way to drag and drop my photos (especially Raw files) with Aperture. Which I can do with Lightroom, Adobe Bridge and C1 Pro, and without using iPhoto.
I am not a Pro photographer either, but I purchased Aperture based on what was advertised on the Apple website. From that ad, Aperture fit my photo needs almost to a tee. I am looking to adjust Raw files, Crop, Archive and keep my use of Hard Disk space down to a minimum. I can use Photoshop for the other 5% of things I do. However, Aperture has some issues (if you own it, then you already know. If you don't, you can read the Aperture Forum) This is one of the reasons I never went to iPhoto for archiving. I didn't like the way it duplicated all my files, taking up more disk space and its file structure. So even though Aperture won't play nice with other programs, I was surprised that it wouldn't play nice with any Apple programs.
After reading your post and based on what you are saying, everyone either needs to have/learn/use Pro apps only or have/learn/use iApps only. Don't Cross the Streams!!
I guess that means Apple will need to fix DVD Studio Pro. It uses photos that are in your iPhoto library and music from iTunes (iApps in a Pro app??....for shame...."it was never intended"). Also, DVD SP won't read the Aperture library. Does that mean there are 3 platforms? Pro, iApp and Mediocre??
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Can someone please tell me which apps are Pro and iApp, or if there is Mediocre? I don't want to mix them up and "Cross the Streams".
2. Again....is there anyway to use Aperture with iWeb?

RSS widget in iWeb. Can someone help?

I am having an issue with iWeb and the RSS widget.
Having created a website for my company, i wanted to put our twitter feed on the home page using RSS. Now obviously twitter have stopped making it easy to use the RSS service, however i managed to track down the link that the RSS is on.
This link was http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=(inserttwitterna me). So i changed the last part to our twitter name making the link look like this:
http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=bluecrewuk
This link worked on the iWeb page for about 5 minutes, and has now stopped working. Yet that link still takes me to the real RSS feed if i paste it into my web browser.
If anyone can help, that would be great!

Editing RSS FEED in iweb

Hi,
I created an audio podcast on iweb 08 with my mobile me account. The podcast appears in itunes as a video podcast? Can anyone help me with that? How can i edit the rss feed in iweb in order to have better tags on my podcast?

Wrong time zone with rss feed in iWeb

I'm using the RSS widget in iWeb, and all the RSS items are nine hours off - meaning they're on California time (I'm in Norway). The time zone is wrong even when I look at the feed in iWeb, so I don't think it's a server issue (and I'm not publishing to MobileMe).
I've found a couple of other questions about this on the board, but no answers, so here we go again... anyone? I've tried several different feeds.

Frequent RSS error message from iTunes U

Several of our courses have been contacted with the following error:
iTunes U could not update the content because the specified RSS feed does
not conform to RSS specifications. There is a duplicate title or globally
unique identifier (GUID) child element in an item. Until the issue is
resolved, iTunes U continues to display the last downloadable version of the
content. Verify that the title or GUID child element in the item located at
11 is unique, and then try again.

I've done what I can to look at the feed. I can't use the W3C validator because it chokes on the "itunes" tags, but from what I can see, it looks alright.
Anyone else run into this kind of thing before?

After taking another looks, and moving the feed into TextMate and running Tidy on it, there are two enclosures from the original feed (this is a registered podcast from another source) that have the same GUID, just as it says.

I have just returned from an extended holiday in the USA and am furious about the lack of duty of Apple.com. Tomorrow I shall post a stinking message on Linked In and all other message boards in the hope I can start a petition to force Apple to address this stupidity.
Four years ago I purchased an iPhone 3GS and found myself with a useless piece of garbage while on holiday in the USA. Since my phone is registered in the UK with an Apple ID registered in the same country I could have just as well dumped the item in a Boston garbage can. Why? iTunes forbids international traveling!! Their T & C forbids to download any updates for MacBook Pro's iPhones and the rest. Not only that they actively jam your updates~!@#$%^&*().
Do we or do we not live in the 21st. C??? I can not believe that Apple can be so insensitive to the needs of a lowly SME that needs to be "live" at all times. THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM A COMPANY THAT HAS CORNERED THE MARKET FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATION! This is beyond belief.
APPLE WAKE UP. I am a member of the Federation of Small Businesses here in the UK and will see personally to it that every flipping member and there are over 200.000 of them gets to know about this problem.

Itunes issue! using itunes 10.7 (21) on a macbook pro OSX 10.7.5 - everytime I launch itunes it asks to connect to the itunes store and asks for login details. have to cancel twice. how do I disable this or login once and make it remember my details?

Even when I'm not connected to the internet it pops up with an error that its trying to connect to the store. Its very annoying. I have disabled the store in preferences> parental > checked the box saying Disable: itunes store. No success! Please someone help. :(

HT1386 Issue syncing with iTunes!

Hi All,
I have an iPhone 4s 16 GB model that i recently have started using about a month ago. I had, out of excitement, put about 9 gig of music on my iPhone and realized that i wasn't listening to all the songs pretty much and to top it all, i got an alert on my phone saying the storage is nearly full.
What i did after that, was i went into settings and under general > usage > music as it was showing 9 Gig, i deleted it clicking on Edit (what an idiot). Thankfully, i have all that backed up on my laptop, but the trouble now is that, when i connect the iPhone to my Mac, the iphone shows that has got all the music, but, it doesn't. So, i tried syncing it again as all the playlists and albums were checked automatically as per my music on the phone before, but it doesn't put all the music on my phone again even if i uncheck all the playlists and albums it had before it wont put them again, although it does put the songs that i didn't have on the phone before. I am not sure, what is wrong and why am i not able to put music on my phone using iTunes. If anyone here can point me in the right direction i would be obliged.

I solved this issue by disabling Itunes match under my Music settings on the Iphone. This makes it so the iphone looks to match my itunes library on my computer versus completely wirelessly conntecting to icloud?

If your old version of iTunes is still working - then I sugest you stick with that.
iTunes 11 is a lousy update - It will not retain your playlists, you can't find and delete duplicates... and a whole arry of oyher issues. (have a look around this forum to see how many issues IT11 gives people)

Issues re-installing itunes because email address is not valid

I've been having issues with starting itunes...and end up getting a bunch of errors and it fails to start. Decided to un-install and re-install itunes. I've followed all the steps and deleted all applicable programs (itunes, quicktime, apple software, bonjour, etc.) and still can't download and re-install itunes. I get to the enter email screen and it say invalid email. Must have my email in the system somewhere? How do I reinstall itunes with the same email address and password?

It sounds like you are trying to change the Apple ID logged into the iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone. Use these steps:
Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.

Issue connecting with iTunes Match

Hi, i've got an issue connecting with iTunes Match. Most of the time iTunes doesn't connect to iTunes Match when launching the app. I just see the cloud symbol that indicates it tries to connect. And it just keeps on going. I then have to quit iTunes and relaunch it. Type in my Apple ID password. And still nothing. But around a third or fourth time I usually get a connecting going and then listen to music
And I'm not impatient. I give it some minutes everytime while opening and browsing the iTunes Store.
And the same thing happens after Sleep Mode. It is kind of annoying. Having open and close iTunes all the time.
Is there anything I can do? Am I perhaps doing something wrong? Is anyone experiencing the same problem or issue?

RSS feed on Iweb

After I've published my site I cant get the RSS feed on Iweb to work. When you click on it, nothing happens. How do I fix this?

RSS feeds don't do that - if they add the feed to an RSS reader (including Safari or FireFox) they will see new updates every time they check: but sending them emails on each added episode would require extra programming in the actual program, which iWeb doesn't provide. You would need to have a mailing list and send out an email manually each time you add an episode.
