RSS plugin non-functional on Firefox Beta
I use iWeb to create my home page at work:
http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~fishwick
Safari and Chrome (even the Beta) have no issues when displaying this page;
however, the latest Firefox Betas (7,8, and now 9) do not correctly display the iWeb RSS feed frames (see the lower left of my home page). I filed a report with the Firefox bug team a few weeks ago, but wonder if there is something on the iWeb side that might fix this? Non-beta Firefox has no issues. The problem is only with their Beta.
Firefox 4 beta 11 (as of this morning) solves the problem. I am not sure if this was due to a firefox javascript engine update or apple's rss server used by the rss widget.

This is a recent problem. I have not made any changes concerning my web browser. Perhaps I need to reinstall Firefox.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

How to add the flash plugin in firefox beta linux x86_64
Someone give me the solution in a live chat session so I share it here.
If you are testing firefox under linux (x86_64 in my case) and the flash plugin is installed but not detected by firefox, it's probably because you are testing it in a single user environment.
For example, you have downloaded and unarchived firefox beta in your home directory :
/home/toto/downloads/firefox
And flash plugin was already installed in :
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
All you have to do is to create a personal plugin directory :
mkdir -p ~/.mozilla/plugins
And then, copy the flash plugin :
cp -a /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/A symbolic link to that file should be sufficient.

How can I completely remove Private Browsing functionality within Firefox 4 Beta?
I wish to remove the Private Browsing functionality within Firefox 4 Beta. I know there's a way to remove it from the toolbar but I want a complete inaccessibility of the function entirely.
There *was* a solution for this within Firefox 3 that I had applied but the new update doesn't keep that as a single file within the \Components folder.
I realize that this involves some real functionality change, but I really would appreciate a nice hack.Did you figure out how to remove this feature? I need help too!

I recently downloaded Firefox 13.0.1.. For the past several days the minimize, maximize, and exit buttons located in the top right hand corner have been non functional almost immediately upon starting a browser session. I have tried disabling plugins with no success. I have experienced the same problem when running safe mode. I have attempted to disable hardware accelerators. I have even tried resetting to default settings.. For the record
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) with 2 GB of RAM as well as Norton Antivirus.. Any advice would be appreciated.Hi <b>rosmaninho</b>

Firefox beta 35 not ready for prime time.
I have spent the entire weekend trying to get the Firefox beta 35 to work. What I have found is that *all* extensions fail to work with the exception of Places Maintenance. I can not download any extension Firefox is so famous for. The error is something like "cannot install 'plugin-name' in it's current state." Enabling any extension require a FF restart, even Places Maintenance. Trying to remove an extension fails and must be done manually.
I am on Windows 7 Premium desktop Firefox, 32 bit. I "committed" myself to FF 35 last night (which meant clearing history and cache on exit because the extension "Expire History by Days" was no longer working), when I discovered that 35 was not playing nice with some sites using Flash. It was a capricious thing. Many sites worked as normal but some would not render at all. Examples:
http://www.wunderground.com/US/WI/La_Crosse.html
http://www.weather.com/weather/5day/l/Hustler+WI+54637:4:US
First time I have has a problem with a Firefox beta, but it is definitely not ready for prime time. I realize FF is attempting to get away from what we are calling "Proprietary add-ons" but FF 35 in its present state will just fill the Moz Support forums with millions of complaints (guess I am one of the first). I have at present 1 extension (the only one that works on 35), the above mentioned "Places Maintenance."
I thought you might like this report as "user input." God knows I have tried...I must have downloaded 35 at least a dozen times and then been forced back to 34.0.5. So I am back on 34.0.5
I have submitted a bug report here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1108196
Let me know if anyone else is having these problems or anyone needs more information. I'd love to help fix this. I know some of you good support people have probably tried 35. Are you having the same difficulties?
Below is my (34.0.5 but the same as I had on 35 last night with the exception of "Version") trouble shooting information minus a million entries for my printer:

Experimental Features
---------------------Just for the record I'm using Fx35b1 with lots of plug-ins and extensions with absolutely no problems now or for quite a long time.
-
As in #1000240 and in #1032181, I've installed a StartSSL login certificate in my Firefox for Android and having a problem with extracting/backuping it to use with another device/browser.
I'm using the latest Firefox Beta for Android (35.0) at present; the Android version is 4.1.2, my phone model is Sony LT26i (Xperia S), so neither of the aforementioned questions asked at the Mozilla Support website do not contain any solution to the given problem.
Any chance to recover the certificate?
P. S. I haven't rooted my device; if getting a root is the only possible way to recover the certificate, I may consider doing so.You can try https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/copy-profile/ If that does not retrieve the file then see below.
If you know the name and path of the file you can get it using run-as function of adb. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18471780/android-adb-retrieve-database-using-run-as
If you end up down here you'll need root to be able to navigate the file system. I don't know the file name, though it is likely in your profile folder which can be determined by visiting about:cache in the Firefox address bar. It will be similar to /data/data/org.mozilla.firefox_beta/files/mozilla/$RANDOM.default/ -
Home Page Search Is Non-Functional / Not Possible to Restore Previous Session
After the latest update (to version 29), Firefox's default home page search bar has been completely non-functional. Whether I type enter or press Search, nothing happens. Another (possibly related) problem is that the "Restore Previous Session" button is never present. I also cannot restore the previous session by clicking on the History option (it is always greyed out).
I had this and other problems with v29. But after a while everything was working
again, I hope. BTW;<BR><BR>
I found that after Firefox v29, a LOT of my settings and add-ons were changed /
reset. Try this;
'''''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]'''''
<BR>While you are in safe mode;<BR>
'''''Firefox Options > Advanced > General'''''.<BR>
Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.
Check ALL of your setting. Then restart. -
Wired interface non-functional
So I have a most unusual problem with a mac mini server that is driving me banana's that I hope someone in the Apple community has run into, and found a decent solution..
The mac mini (2.3GHz quad core i7, late 2012) is running 10.9 and server 3.0.1. I did an upgrade from 10.8 (and whatever the previous version server was)..
Since then the wired ethernet interface (en0) literally stopped working. (Links up, but no connectivity.. no ping, it does not even send an ARP)
Data points about the problem.
- It worked flawlessly up until the upgrade to 10.9.
- wireless interface is still fine, static or dhcp.
- The IP is statically configured via System preferences - Network.
- ifconfig in terminal show NO IPADDRESS assigned to the interface.
- if I reconfigure the interface to DHCP, it will not receive an IP and ends up with an APIPA address..
- if I go into terminal and 'ifconfig en0 down' then 'ifconfig en0 <IP> up' the interface works again until restart. It will also correctly display the IP in terminal.
- If I reset, it goes back into this same state (network preferences shows proper config, ifconfig does not, and the interface is non functional)
- If I then go to cli, and manually ifconfig down then up, all is good again.. Doing so from system prefs has no affect..
Here is where it gets really interesting, and why I am convinced this is a software issue.. I did a clean install of 10.9 and Server on an external USB disk, and things work exactly as expected if I boot from that Volume.. If I boot from the internal drive, Its in the broken state again..
This absolutelty tells me its some kind of software issue, and I am out of ideas short of wiping the internal drive, and reloading all the data from scratch..
Anyone else run into this? If yes, were you able to fix it without wiping/reloading?First, thank you for taking the time to respond and offering great ideas..
I'd delete the interface & recreate it.
In 'System Preferences > Network tab' select the ethernet, click the - button. Then add it again. Reboot & see if it has any effect.
- Had no affect.. More accurately, it works the same as doing ifconfig down/up in cli, where the interface will work again until the next reboot.
See what appears in Console (Spotlight search for it) in the 'All messages" section when you remove connect the ethernet.
- Log messages are below.. Interestingly, I do not get the failure messages that I have highlighted in red on another machine that is is also running 10.9, with server loaded.

Have you tried changing the port on the switch it is connected to?
- Yes, for ease of testing I have it plugged directly into my MacBook Pro (I also tried new cable first )
Does safe mode have any effect?
- No, Same results.
Again, booting the machine from a clean install on a USB disk, does not show the issue.. I’ve got a lot of data on the machine, so I am doing anything I can to avoid wiping and reloading it all.. Ive added the output of etrecheck, in case its of any help.

I have a 60G classic with a non-functioning center select button. Can I set a specific playlist and change settings by hooking up to my PC and then maintain those settings and that playlist once I go remote?
I'm having a little trouble understanding the part about your password having to be reset. Why is that happening??
Let's start with Firefox's settings:
(1) You can configure the password manager feature on this tab:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Security
There is a checkbox to enable/disable the feature.
There also is a "Saved Passwords" button to review and remove any passwords you do not want Firefox to keep.
That tab also has a feature to set a Master Password so that no one can use your saved passwords without knowing the Master Password. You may need to exit Firefox in order for Firefox to ask for that again.
Related articles:
* [[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]
* [[Use a Master Password to protect stored logins and passwords]]
(2) Site-specific permissions
If you want to use the password manager for other sites but NOT a particular site, you can configure that in the Permissions Manager.
In a new tab, type or paste '''about:permissions''' in the address bar and press Enter.
After the page loads, use the search box in the upper left corner to narrow down the list to the site you want to configure. Highlight the site on the left side, and on the right side, choose Block under Store Passwords.
(3) Form autocomplete suggestions
Separate from passwords, Firefox remembers entries you've made into forms (in most cases) and lists the matching ones below the form field in a drop-down.
To clear a suggestion, press the down arrow key to highlight it and press the Delete key.
To turn off this feature, see this article: [[Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms with your information]].
To review and selectively edit or delete form history entries, you need an add-on. For example, you could try this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/form-history-control/ -
Back button is premanently greyed-out and non-functional
I have tried all of the suggested fixes: disabling add-ons and extensions, deleting and re-installing the program, etc... but the back button remains non-functional, even on safe mode and after the last few updates. I cannot use the browser until this problem is fixed, and will continue to use Chrome until it is (even though I hate it and really miss Firefox). Funny thing is, it only happens on my Macbook Pro, running the latest version of Snow Leopard... it doesn't happen on my i7 iMac, running the same version of Snow Leopard.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, and have a great day,
-JimRalph Johns (UK) (to Emily Vu) 19 minutes ago
Hi,
Check the Font AppleGothic.ttf is active and validates using the Font Book app.
if you have to change anything restart the Mac.
If this is not the issue go to ~/Library/Preferences and find com.apple.ichat.plist and Drag it to the Trash and then restart Messages.
The above reply in another thread solved my issue! Namely that my apple gothic font was disabled, breaking the entire Messages app. -
Tx2z - CPU non-functional?
Hi, my tx2z died on me this morning around 5 am when I tried to turn it on to finish up some engineering homework. The computer power on, fan on for a bit, but it got stuck on the black screen with blinking caplock and numlock light.
I don't know if this have anything to do with it, but now I think about it, it might be related. Last time I use it, it was the same day, or night, around midnight. I was working on some physics homework on the laptop with my friend. So I finished my part, and went over to help her. So when I tried to show her how to solve the equation on the calculator, we got a static electirc shock, and I didn't even touch her. Ok, so we laughed about it since we are doing stuffs dealing with electric fields. When we finally finished at 1, I went back to my dorm with the laptop, put it down to let it charge. Then when I try to do my engineering homework soon after with the computer, I was shocked again. This time by touching the comptuer.
So I believe my Tx2z died because of "CPU non-functional" according to the LED Blink Sequence table. The LED only blinked once in each cycle. Is that correct?
So if this is the case, what are my options? I doubt I am still under warrenty, since I just got the laptop before going to college 2 years ago. CPU non-funcational means that the CPU is dead and need replacement, right? And if I am correct, it is usually not possible to install new cpu in laptop. So I need to send it in and let them replace it? Will it be cheaper with I just go buy a new computer?
I am still hoping that it is not the CPU problem, since I really like this laptop, it is really not that old, and I have been taking care of it. It does overheat very easily though, sometime burn my hand when I am doing some 3D modeling / rendering. But even on power saving mode, when I am just checking email, it still overheated.
Any replies, helps, suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.yup, I have pretty much given up by now. I started to make a list of hardwares that I want to buy to assemble a new computer. Tablet is good, but the fact that it can't last me through college, that's just sad. So $400 to repair, and the new computer that I am planning to put together cost around $500. I think I will go with the new one with way more processing power, way better cooling, and most important, the ability to upgrade / replace broken parts without having to pay a fortune.
LIST
Case, power supply, motherboard w/ ATI HD4250, AMD Phenom ii x4 3.4 Ghz, 4 GB DDR3, 1 TB HDD, DVD Burner, Card Reader...
So as for the tablet, I am starting to harvest parts from it. So far, ripped the hard drive out to recover some data and to use as an portable hard drive. Will probably take the RAM out in a day or two. The ony big disappoinment about not fixing the tablet is that the touchscreen is pretty much wasted, since I have no clue how to utilize that. Wish I have taken Computer or Electrical Engineering. -
Keynote dissolves non-functional
I have a long, long list of broken actions and missing functions with this 'new' version of Keynote.
However, to keep it as brief as possible:
In Mavericks, Keynote previews dissolves fine. On play they are non-functional. Completely and utterly broken;
Delays of 0.5 sec on preview turn into 10 seconds on play;
Audio is now out of sequence;
I have been a Keynote evangelist over Powerpoint since the first iteration. Taught many people to use it well. But right now, this version is not a professional product, barely an anateur product, since it has thelook and feel of an Alpha release.
So my question: how can I go back to Keynote '09?Thanks.... I read that a while back. However, six months is a long time to be without a professional tool such as this. I cannot imagine what the programmers were thinking as they sent this out for beta testing. There is no way this was a considered release. It had to have been rushed. And badly.
For example: Build markers appear to be missing; 'ready to advance' cannot be found; and the 'customise presenter display' isn't there; even the 'open existing presentation' button, on app launch is gone. Seriously?
Since I wrote my earlier post, I've tested 6.0.1 further. It also apparently freezes [and requires a force quit] when you attempt to update from an older version and resave.
The release of a redesigned Keynote for Mavericks with this level of non-functionality is problematic at best and shockingly bad from Apple. I use this application a lot. A lot. And I think this is the worst update/redesign release I can ever remember from Apple.... and they've released some stinkers.
And they're going to take up to SIX months to fix this shambles? Good grief!! What a mess. -
Ver33 Unresponsive Script popup is NON FUNCTIONAL
My continuing problems with getting FF to Restore Session are here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1022861?esab=a&s=&r=0&as=s
Using Safari to send this. FF is locked up again...
Went Not Responding on yet another tab. This one said "waiting for" server for a long time, then it changed to "connected to"
Then the Unresponsive Script popup appeared -- but as always, it is NON FUNCTIONAL. None of the 3 buttons work. None are blue.
I'm letting FF sit there for a while to see if the damn button ever turns blue...Some Console Errors for those who know WTF they mean...

I looked at the pkgbuild .. i think it doesn't create another copy of firefox instead overwrites the existing one
I meant the Arch package https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … 4/firefox/
