RSS Reader to replace soon to be defunct Google Reader

Win7x64 Pro, HP Laptop, Firefox ver 19.0.2
Google is dropping their Google RSS Reader. Is there another comparable full service RSS Reader compatible with Firefox?

Unfortunately that Developer says he is dropping feedly when Google disappears.

  • Scrolling RSS reader HTML for iWeb 09

    Hi
Anyone know whether it is possible to replace the standard RSS reader widget with something a bit flasher, quite fancy a scrolling reader that would roll through say 10 entries in a box. I've had a trawl through here and Google, but seem to be drawing a complete blank.
    Thanks

  • Looking for best RSS reader

Need one with swipe left/right to navigate to the next item and also has adjustable text as well as has a full screen reading mode. It would also be nice to find one which also has share to Google+.  Byline has the the 1st feature I want/love by doesnt allow you to change the font size to smaller.
Do any rss reader apps exist with all these?
Basically my favorite Android app gReader Pro had all of these features. But now I have the iPhone 4 and need replacement.

To be honest, you are better off using a computer and this software:
    http://calibre-ebook.com/
It will convert ebook formats...if you buy a reader, you are committed to that environment.  WIth the above and a computer, you can install the PC version of your favorite ereader and use the software to convert other formats to it.

  • My battery condition is replace soon? I still have applecare. Can I get my battery replaced for free?

This is what my system profiler says.
      Charge Information:
      Charge remaining (mAh):          4029
      Fully charged:          No
      Charging:          Yes
      Full charge capacity (mAh):          4145
      Health Information:
      Cycle count:          1051
      Condition:          Replace Soon
      Battery Installed:          Yes
      Amperage (mA):          558
      Voltage (mV):          12567
The charge doesn't last nearly as long as it used to. Can I get a battery replacement?

As a rule Apple will not replace the battery after the first year as the battery is considered a consumable item.
Also you have over the rated cycle count so the battery is Used Up, Consumed.
Now it all depends on what G bar you take it to and what G person you talk to but don't get your hopes up that you will have it changed for free. More then likely it Will Not be changed for free.

  • Photo RSS reader for PC's / AOL?

Can anyone suggest an RSS reader that will read photos from a photocast? My father uses AOL, but could work through IE if necessary.

    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Nokia 5800 RSS Reader broken "unknown error"

My Nokia 5800 RSS Reader spontaneously died. Getting "unknown error".
Anyone know how to fix this? Will any new firmware fix it? Any free apps?
The RSS Reader on the phone isn't bad imo and i had over 10 feeds in there. I'm having to use Opera Mini rss feed is usable but that browser is so fragile!
    (I have v2.1 fw)
Much discussion about this here but no solution: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?p=425392
Appreciate my posts? - gimme some kudos and click teh star!

I have had the same problem on my nokia 5800, everything worked great for about 1 month since I bought the phone and then out of nowhere the feeds got corrupted when I was doing a refresh all I think. It is 100% a software database or broken file issue.  I tried searching for bookmark database in system folders and files and others using y-browser to see if I can erase them manually but wasn't able to find any file that would indicate it is a bookmark database or whatever. Maybe someone who knows s60 ins and outs has an idea where do these bookmarks live.
On the other hand I remembered I had done a full back up of my phone beforehand using PC suite (Ovi Suite same thing in a different package) . So I just restored the bookmarks to my phone and vioala. The feeds work again, because the whole bookmark database got overwritten. No hard reset required.
If you already have the error and no back up then  it is a problem. You would have to trick the nokia restore software to do the restore with a blank file. You will have to dig around and find out how to do it. Perhaps do a back up for the broken bookmarkrs, find the file, then either replace with a blank or edit it such that it looks like blank. Alternatively, have someone who has a uncorrupted bookmark back up, send you the file and you can restore that one.
    Hope this helps!Good Luck!

  • Printer message says, "optical photoconductor will need to be replaced soon".

I have a HP color laserJet 2840. I am getting the message that my "optical photoconductor will need to be replaced soon." The message is not on my printer window but on my printer info that I pulled up on my computer.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have the same problem with my Color Laserjet 2500. Although the words "optical photoconductor" do not exist in the printer's manual, I just discovered that the imaging drum is also called the optical photoconductor. I hope that's helpful.

  • Default RSS reader

is there a way to make Feedly.com my default RSS reader? I tried using shrook, but it wasn't a good replacement since it doesn't save the list of RSS feeds i feed it.

    Hi
When you open (expand) an RSS feed in either Safari or Mail, either Safari will go to the actual page (if set as the default), or a specific RSS Reader will open.

  • Battery Condition : Replace Soon

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro and have had it for almost 4 years now. Just today, I saw that my battery status says "replace soon." Is there any way I can fix it on my own or would I have to bring it in for service?

No, you need to take it in for service, unless you have one of the models that has the battery incorporated in a door on the underside of the MBP.  If it has that, you can purchase a new battery and just pop it in...batteries are in the neighborhood of $129 US.

  • Battery keeps fluctuating between "Replace Soon" and "Normal"

I have noticed that over the past few weeks, my battery continues to fluctuate between 43% health (Replace Soon) and 95% health (Normal).
The weird part is that, when the battery is listed as 95% health, it functions normally (2 hours of charge). However, when the battery is listed as 43% health, it lasts significantly less even when doing the same light web browsing.
Anyone have any ideas? Replace the battery? Is it defective? Thanks!

1, 668 cycles is a good life for a battery that is expected to hold about 80% capacity after 300 cycles.
    2. 668 is a lot for an 18-month old battery--that's well over one cycle per day. You are using your battery hard, apparently for hours and hours every day. It shouldn't be surprising that it's being schizophrenic in its reporting to the OS about its status. When you get your new battery--yes, I am sure you need one--treat it better. Use it plugged in when power is available, unplugged when not, and calibrate it every six or eight weeks. Some reading:

  • What is an RSS Reader?

Would someone be willing to give me a brief explanation of what an RSS reader does and which one might be the best to use with Mountain Lion?
I have little knowledge of how they work and what they actually do, other than you can use a reader to subsribe to news feeds and blogs.
    Thanks for any help!

Is there a way to have a reader that is just active all the time so it just notifies me when on of my feeds posts new information?
    Funny you should ask...
I recently released an RSS feed reader that is integrated with Mountain Lion's new notifications. Instead of checking some RSS reader all day, just sit back and wait for notifications. It is called "EtreFeed" and is available in the Mac App Store. You can download a free time-limited demo from: http://www.etresoft.com/etrefeed
I am going to be posting a significant update very soon.

  • Safari 5.1.2: Where is the built-in RSS Reader theme stored?

    Hi all,
Safari's built-in RSS reader menus are displayed in wrong language on my system - does anybody know in which library Apple's blue RSS reader theme and/or it's ressources are stored, so I could check for missing language files? All hints I could find on the web are describing pre-5.1 versions of Safari, and after investigating my current libraries I'm sure the ressources changed, e.g. the SyndicationUI.framework under /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks.
Does anybody have any hints for me?

OK, here's what I'm talking about. This is a screen capture of a tab from the Macintosh version of Safari:
Notice how the "X" to close the tab is on the left-hand side and the text of the tab is centered on the width of the tab.
Here is a screenshot of the Windows version of Safari:
You can see how the tab is much smaller for one, but also how the text is justified to the left with the "X" to close the tab appearing on the right side of the tab instead of the left.
I don't really prefer one over the other (ie. left or right side), I just wondered if there's some setting to make them act the same way on both so that I don't have to constantly remember what OS I'm on in order to remember where the darn "X" is to close the tab.

  • My 2008 Macbook froze (though iTunes kept playing), and wouldn't turn off, so I had to take the battery out to turn it off. However, it is not turning on. The battery was in condition of "needs to be replaced soon", but is there any way I can start it up?

Last night, I was listening to a podcast, and my Mac froze. The mouse would not work, and neither would any of the buttons, but the podcast continued to play as if nothing was wrong.  I tried to turn it off and on with the power button, but it did not respond.  I had to take out the battery and put it back in.
However, the Mac is no longer starting up. The battery was old, and needed to be replaced soon.  Because I have three important exams next week, and I have all of my notes on that device, I was wondering if there was a way to get the Macbook to work again, without taking the time to replace the battery? I've tried plugging it in, but it doesn't seem to charge.
    Thanks!

Does the unit not run on the charger alone? (take the battery out and plug it in.)

  • Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?

Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?
How can I re-enable the RSS reader?

All RSS Readers that I tested from MacAppStore are much worst than Mail's in Lion.
Hate them all. I'm using blogtrottr.com to compile all RSS and send me via email. But it's flooding my mailbox. There're a bunch of them that require a Google Reader account, and I won't do that. It doesn't matter to Google which RSS I'm following.
I wish Apple put RSS reading back to Mail. Stupid idea taking it off.
