RSS Visualizer screen saver

I like the RSS Visualizer screen saver. I like the ability to display headlines from news websites like www.bbc.co.uk, www.fastcompany.com and many others.
However, I am disappointed that:
a] only the first ten new feed headlines are ever displayed and even then, from just the one selected news feed source; and
b] even though I have defined a number of news feeds in the preferences dialog box, there seems to be no way of prompting RSS Visualizer to move on and display headlines from the next site defined in the preferences dialog box.
Does anyone have a workaround for this?
Thanks
Jai
PS I have made a submission through the Mac OSX feedback page.

Oh....my....gaddd....
Ok this is the only thing that seemed to work, including all sorts of cache, database checking, net connection checks, etc.
I had the desktop/screensaver pref screen open... nothing but squirly blue clouds which was the problem I was having....
Clicking any of the feeds did not bring the 'swinging rss' feed titles... as usual for my problem... clicked all over the preview window, nothing...
blah blah blah I moved the Start S.Saver slider from 9 min. start to 5 min. start and that seemed to get it going again!!!
I clicked back to Apple Hot News and nothing there, but almost all the other RSS feeds seem to work fine in both preview, test, and hot corner operation now...
I know the blue clouds was nice, but the Feeds add something to it... so i guess now I can use the Apple Hot News feed as a pretty cloud S.Saver background now... oh well

  • Will Apple ever fix the 12/31/200 date RSS Visualizer Screen Saver issue?

I had to reopen the discussion about the RSS Visualizer:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6474304
I realize Apple may think the rest of the world (ex. CNN, Digg, etc..) needs to change their RSS feeds, but why not fix the RSS screensaver so that it doesn't default to December 31, 2000 and show only 4 news stories for most feeds? Even most of Apples RSS feeds don't comply. And this is by design?

Better is to send bug reports and enhancement requests to Apple via its Bug Reporter system. To do the latter, join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure over submitting feedback is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

  • RSS Visualizer for Desktop instead of Screen Saver

Is there any hack to get the RSS Visualizer Screen saver to work as ones desktop?
    Thanks.

    Applescript:
    tell application "System Events" to
"ScreenSaverEngine" is in name of processes
if the result is true then
    tell application "ScreenSaverEngine" to quit
    else
    tell application "Terminal"
if not (exists window 1) then do script ""
    do script
    pt
    "/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Reso
    urces/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaver
Engine -background &" in front window
    end tell
    end if
Can i do any harm with this operation. I've never used Applescript, though I do know how to bring up the editor and at least try what you suggest.
I just don't want to screw things up. Will this script give me the choice list in "Desktop" as in "Screensaver" utility?

  • RSS Visualizer no longer shows 'Press the _ key' below headline

My RSS Visualizer screen saver no longer displays 'Press the 1 key...', 'Press the 2 key...' etc below each headline like it used to. It's simply missing, but everything else works fine.
I actually use that feature to read the NY Times headlines, so I'd like to get it back. I searched for other people with the problem and found nothing. Any ideas?

Hello, I'm also on 10.7.4 and have the same problems, which started when I updated to Safari 6.0 (7536.25). I tried the "com.apple.screensaver.plist" dump, but mine was in the library/preferences folder, and it still didn't help. Also, I noticed that when I go into OPTIONS from the SYSPREFS/Desktop & Screen Saver, for the RSS FEED, there's only the Apple Hot News; CNN, NYT, Bloomberg, etc, have disappeared.
Also, and I'm not sure if this is related, my delete button, which I used to use to navigate backwards in Safari, no longer works...(?)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Screen Saver with iTunes Visualizer

Does anyone know of a program/script/screen saver package that will allow the screen saver to automatically activate the iTunes Visualizer on the Mac?

I'm sure there's got to be an easier way for free
I don't know about easy, but delving into the power of OS X is a good idea. Automator actions seem to need a double click or input--in this case from screensaver.
Have you tried asking in the Automator folder?
Also have you noticed all screensavers, save for Flurry and RSS Visualizer are pictures?

  • RSS Screen Saver Limit

I have setup a screen saver using an RSS feed from a blog that I run. I have one blog post per week and until this week I was able to see all of them. Now, all I can see are the last 4. I have checked and blog and all seven posts are available from the main screen and I have archiving turned off in my blog settings. Is there some limitation on the blog posts that can be pulled down with the RSS visualizer?

You're most welcome. Glad to help.

  • Apple TV: Music Visualizer (Like iTunes) or Alternative Screen Saver?

Hello, I am wondering if there is any way to get a "Visualizer" for my Apple TV, like iTunes has that is basically a screen saver that wavers with the pitch and beat of the music. Similar to those on Windows Media Player, xBox 360, PS3, etc... Or is there at least a way to get/buy an alternative "Screen Saver" besides the floating pictures?
If not, that is a serious design flaw that someone should have thought about before release. I mean, come on, a unit that is designed to be hooked up to your TV and play music? You need to have something visual and floating pictures are not only boring but borderline annoying. I have to believe it is an easy fix with a software update; I mean, everyone else has managed to incorporate one into their products as I mentioned above and **** iTunes even has its own Visualizer, and in my humble opinion, rivals only windows media player in top quality. There has to be a way to at least stream it like AirTunes streams the music iTunes is playing to the Apple TV that plays it out the speakers it is hooked up to; with G protocol you could easily add a video stream that would stream the iTunes visualizer to the Apple TV and display it on the TV.
Anyway, just thoughts, if anyone cares, not really upset with the product, in fact, I love it so much I'm thinking of proposing to it soon (it has no idea). I just REALLY wish I could throw up a sick Visualizer on my Samsung 60" 240hz LED TV to go along with my music...SOS! Help!
    Thank you.

no - the "visualiser" is not an option on the appletv.
you only have the screensaver options.

  • RSS Screen Saver

I'd like to change and add RSS feeds to the screen saver. I've tried dragging them onto the panel and searched the for 'modules' in the various librarys. I've also tried to add things to the default Apple RSS in Safari. Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks

  • MobileMe and RSS screen saver missing in Snow Leopard!

In Leopard, in Desktop & Screen Saver, under Pictures, There is a screen saver called MobileMe and RSS, which allowed you to subscribe to picture RSS feeds and would display them as a slideshow when the screen saver activated.
I found that screen saver option is no longer available in Snow Leopard. I thought I would just go to a Leopard machine and copy the screen saver file to Snow Leopard, but its not in the screen saver folder (Drive -> System -> Library -> Screen Savers).
Why did apple remove this functionality? Is there anyway to get it back?

Sorry, I get it now. My issue was similar but not the same as yours. I have never subscribed to picture-only RSS feeds so I guess I can't address your issue. As I said, I was trying to have other peoples' MM galleries show up in the list of screen savers, which I was finally able to do using my instructions (you don't need to belong to MobileMe to do this by the way, all you need is the username of a friend who does subscribe and has set up a MM gallery - for example, my username is "rbarline" in case you want to check out my "public slide show" gallery as a screen saver ... :~)
Now I am curious about picture-only RSS feeds and would like to try one as a screen saver. Can you send me a feed URL to try? Maybe there is a way after all?

  • Where are images kept for screen saver?

  • Screen saver in ibook

When reading book in ibooks on my ipad, the screen will go dim like it is about to go black. How do I stop this from happening?
    Thanks

What one is it? the ones Apple supplies are:
    • Arabesque
    • Computer Name
    • Flurry
    • iTunes Artwork
    • RSS Visualizer
    • Shell
    • Spectrum
    • Word of the Day
Those should all be under the "Apple" category in the Screen Saver system preferences. Third-party ones should be in the "Other" category.

  • RSS Visualizer - always shows 12/31/00, only 4 articles

Are there any new preference options for the RSS Visualizer in the Leopard screen saver? It always shows "December 31, 2000" for the date, only 4 articles (when it used to show 10 in OS 10.4), and it seems to show the headlines in the center of the screen and then again at the bottom of the screen.
    Is this a Leopard bug?

I am having a similar problem. My date shows correctly (though I have my date/time set to German) but it will only show me the first four articles from my feed (BBC News front page). Under Tiger of course it was 10. Alignment is also off.
Is this broken for everyone? Too bad, I might not use this anymore.
