RSS Won't Update in Safari

My RSS feeds stopped updating this week. I haven't changed anything...the last time they updated was on Thursday at 936...while I was at work. I also can't manually make them load new stories. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello Tim:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
Try trashing the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restart.

  • RSS Feeds not updating in safari (and Mail)

I have just realized that my RSS feeds (bookmark bar) stopped updating a few days ago.  If I "view all RSS articles," nothing more recent than several days ago appears.  Even when I hit "Update Now" under actions, I get nothing.  I know there are recent articles becasue I sync bookmarks across two MBAs and the other is updating just fine.
As an aside, my mail feed is not updating reliably either.
I updated to 10.7.2 on friday, but my feed worked until Saturday morning.  Any idea what might be casuing this issue?  I'm stumped.
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem. Some of my safari RSS feeds are updating whilst some aren't however if I go to the website and click on feeds again, it shows the latest ones. I think there's a bug in safari. I am running the latest version of Safari & OS X (as of this date). If anyone has a fix on this, it is greatly appreciated.

  • Mail RSS won't update

I'm subscribed to a bunch of RSS feeds in Mail, but they have stopped updating. I know the feeds are working, because I get the updates in Firefox, but I prefer to get them in mail. Manually updating doesn't help. Any ideas?

    Rebooted and seems to work...
    Sorry for disturbing :P

  • Safari 5.1 for Windows not updating to Safari 6?

My Safari won't update to Safari 6. I cant find it on Apple's website and it has been out for Mountain Lion for a while now, and I REALLY want iCloud tabs and stuff so i can browse the same stuff across all of my devices. Chrome does it, but i hate chrome user interface and prefer Safari.

Safari 6 for Windows is not available for Windows as it is not released by Apple.
Safari 5.1.7 is the latest version available for Windows.

I have only recently got my iphone, and the screen won't rotate in Safari, the ipod, photos or messaging. It works fine in games (eg Doodle Jump). The screen portrait lock is off, and i have tried turning it on and off and updating it. Why wont it rotate?

Next step is to Restore it in iTunes from your backup. If that does not work they try Restoring it as a new phone. If still no go it is a hardware failure and you will need to get it serviced.
And you are not showing the hardware lock icon on the top right of the home screen?

  • Safari won't update fromVersion 5.0.5 to5.1.7

    Safari won’t update fromVersion 5.0.5 to5.1.7

I'm having the same issue. Tonight I did a clean install of 10.6.0 from the retail CD onto an old 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo Mac Mini. So far I have done nothing with it but run Software Update and reboot repeatedly, and now Software Update tells me I'm all up-to-date (I'm now on 10.6.8) but I still have Safari 5.0.5. (In /Applications/.) All of my other 10.6.8 Macs are on 5.1.x, including my white Core Duo MacBook.

  • HT5275 Why did this update eliminate Safari's RSS reader function? Grrrrr.

So, I have a number of RSS sources in a folder titled "News" in my bookmarks bar. I select it and am able to either go to individual RSS source or "View All RSS Sources" (which I use all the time) or open all in tabs (this one's not a good idea!). After updating, the "View All RSS Sources" is gone as Safari no longer has an RSS reader function. Too bad (and I really mean that!) and seemingly unaccounted for if I call APple for assistance... just "No Safari RSS reader in the update. Oh, and there's no way to go back!"
I use  "View All RSS Sources" twice daily (at least) because it is adjustable... my list is sorted by Unread, and it highlights those. Very convenient! An excellent function... no in the dumpster! Grrrrrrrr!
Anyway, now I cannot do this function on my MBP w/Mtn Lion (update to Safari included in the update to Lion) or on my Mac Pro w/Lion (I updated Safari automatically, then found the "improvement"). So now my mini is not going to be updated until I am able to find an outside app that'll give me this function back. And no more buying upgraded minis, either. Grrrr.
Anyway, anybody know why the function was removed in the update?
ADDED POST POSTING: it appears I've lost spellcheck while using an outdated version of Safari

    Hi,
Another thing you can try is this:
    - Quit Safari
    - Open up a Terminal window (via Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app)
    - Type <pre>dscacheutil -flushcache</pre> and then press the Return key
    - Restart Safari
What that does is flush the local DNS cache on your machine. DNS is how computers convert human-readable names (i.e. www.apple.com) into IP addresses (17.112.152.32) that computer networks use to resolve machine locations.
No guarantees this will work, but it's worth a shot.

  • Rss widget won't update

I recently updated my blog but the rss widget won't update with the new entry, I've waited a full day. The rss feed address is: http://www.berrylibrary.com/Blog/rss.xml
Apple Mail, Google Reader, etc. all get the update but the iWeb RSS Widget refuses. I also took the widget out and put it back with no success.

Here is my trick to get my rss feed fixed:
Make a change in the Inspector that only affects the blog (but all entries), like disabling comments and right away enabling them again in the rss window of the Inspector (I don't know for sure but this could erase your existing comments); that will return the images in the right places or put them back if they disappeared altogether. This will also clean up the rss feed.
Disabling comments crashes iWeb, so it is important to enable it immediately after having disabled it, so you click in fact twice in the check box, off and on again.
But you will have to do this each time you add a post to your blog, or to any of your blogs, because it seems a change in one blog or site may have a damaging effect on an other blog.

  • Software update - mail, safari & iphoto won't load

I am having a problem after trying to update safari yesterday. The update failed for some reason and when I restarted this morning I could not load mail, safari or iphoto but ical, address book and firefox (and other non ilife programs) load up as normal.
The standard reaction when I click the icon on the dock is for the icon to bounce once and then nothing. I have tried opening from the Apps folder but no difference. What can I do to sort it out. Any help much appreciated,
    thanks
    roop

    roop,
If you updated Safari using Apple's Software Update than it may have installed the wrong version for your computer as a number of users reported in various forums. On MacInTouch user Tom Freridge stated:
+I believe there are two different Safari installers, one for PPC cpu and one for Intel cpu, and Software Update may not be choosing the correct version.+
+I'm running 10.4.11 on a PPC. When I installed Safari 3.1 via Software Updater, it failed just as others as have mentioned. I trashed it, reinstalled 3.04, then went to Apple.com and downloaded the installer to my desktop. When the dmg file unstuffs, there were actually two installers, one for PPC cpu and one for Intel cpu.+
+I installed the security update first (which wasn't available on Software Update when I first updated to Safari 3.1), restarted the computer, fixed permissions, then installed Safari from the PPC installer on my desktop and fixed permission again. Now everything seems to work fine.+
If you don't have Safari 3.0.4, then I suggest you delete the 3.1 receipt and the path to that is HD/Library/Receipts/Safari31UpdUniv.pkg or Safari31UpdPPC.pkg as the case may be. Then download Safari 3.1 from Apple.com to your desktop. Launch Disk Utilities (in the Utilities folder) and Repair Disk Permissions. Next, open the downloaded Safari.dmg, double click on the PPC version and follow the prompts. Afterwards, repair disk permissions again.
    Hope this helps.

the very same has begun to happen to me (as of today). all of my rss feeds show up in mail, but they won't update. rss works in safari though for me. rebuilding the mailbox dosn't work either.
I even tried deleting the feeds and then re-subscribing, but that didn't work either.

  • Lion Mail - RSS Feeds quit updating

I just came back from vacation and my RSS feeds in Lion Mail won't update. When I click on one, it's empty and when I tell it to individually update or Update All, it tries and nothing updates. Any ideas? Thanks!

i was able to find this on another website...
CXL: Safari fails to display RSS feeds when CPU is under load or free disk space on system drive is small. That pretty much sums it up. It's annoying, too, because if Time Machine is doing its hourly backup or I'm converting video files, Safari's RSS display repeatedly fails with the same error message: "Mach errore 268451843 - (ipc/rcv) timed out" or "NSMachErrorDomain:268451843". Under the same conditions, Safari fetches and displays normal webpages perfectly fine. Filed: 5610533.
but this doesn't make sense, I have about 4.5 GB free on my startup drive....
i also found this apple thread which is about the same issue, but also has no resolution..

if anyone figures anything out please help! thank you!

  • Blog entries won't update

No matter what I try the test entry 'page' remains. It won't update any extra entries. However if you click on the 'subscribe" the new ones will show up in the rss feed.
    Site is http://hopechurchsharon.org

The only blog on your site is a WordPress blog.  Problems with that should be addressed to the WordPress.org customer support.
You can try the simple, universal fix of clearing your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reloading the site.

  • I recently thought I was updating my Safari browser. When completed, I put all those little files that were on the desktop into the trash. Now my trash is saying it can't be emptied because there are locked files and I don't know how to unlock them

I recently thought I was updating my Safari browser. When completed, I put all those little files that were on the desktop into the trash. Now my trash is saying it can't be emptied because there are locked files and I don't know how to unlock them or get them out of my trash and they keep multiplying. And to make matters worse, I tried renaming them as pdf files thinking that might do the trick.

oh boy ! I'd ask you if you knew what kind of files they were or where they came from, but I don't think you could help me a bunch. Try going to the Utilities folder and running Disk Utilities.  If you want to empty the Trash and it won't empty, go to the finder and choose "secure Empty trash". Worse case scenario-you may have to reinstall Snow Leopard, but I don't know what else to suggest. If you have a DVD of Snow Leopard, boot up from that,  and reinstall the OS. This will not touch the stuff you have on your Hard Drive, then you can update from 10.6 to 10.6.8, otherwise Onyx? Maybe those files are part of the OS which needs them to keep running.  if you hold down the Shift key on reboot, you can reboot in Safe mode and maybe you can take the files out of the trash that way
    good luck

  • My EKM Powershot Site won't open in Safari

I have an iMac.  It is running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2.  I have an internet website with EKM Powershop.  It worked fine until a few weeks ago.  Then, at some times during the day it said I couldn't log in because of a problem with cookies but at other times it was ok.  Now I get the same message all the time and can't log in at all.  If I use Chrome it is ok but it is easier for my work if I have it open on both Safari and Chrome.  I haven't changed anything with my cookies and that doesn't seem to actually be the problem.  Can anyone help?
