RTL language support

Regarding Right-To-Left language support: While building a report, I would like to set the breaks list box to "First and Second Columns", but Apex assumes that column order starts from the left. In the case of Hebrew, Arabic, etc, column order begins from the right. In order to use the automatic breaking and summing features I have to order my columns from left to right and the users don't like it.
Do I have any options here?
David

Hello David,
Apex assumes that column order starts from the leftApex assumes the order of columns as it appears in the report column attribute list. The first column will be the first column on that list, the second will be the next row on the list etc. This order has nothing to do with your page orientation.
Do I have any options here?Yes. You should set your page orientation to be RTL, and continue to work naturally with your report builder - http://i3.tinypic.com/wlrdsj.png and http://i3.tinypic.com/wlre3k.png .
If you need to do that on a specific page, you can use the following on your page HTML Header:
<style type="text/css">
body {direction:rtl !important;}
</style>You can see a page example here: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=22814:50
If you need to reverse your entire application to be RTL, the best and easiest solution will be to add the "direction" attribute to the "body" selector in your application CSS file. That will automatically reverse the orientation of all your application pages.
Hope this can help,
Arie.

  • RTL & Indian Language Support for Indesign CS6 Mac

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Indesign CS6 Mac version and need support to using Arabic and Indian Language Support. I am not able to write this language. When I am pasting from Word or anywhere text is going cracked.
I also learn to enable language support from Character setting but I can't find Kashidas option on my Indesign.
It will be very helpful if some one support how to enable this option or download.
    Best Regards,
    Rakesh

That's because Larry is correct, and Ellis is correct about you needing to take Larry's advice if you don't have the World-Ready Composer in your menu. You need something like the World Tools plugin from InTools to access the complex-script tools not available in the menus in your install of CS6.
(Or you could employ Ellis' other suggestion and move to the Cloud. But World Tools is rather less expensive in the long term.)

  • RTL languagesٍُ

I'm trying out the 30 day trial of iWorks.
However, I encountered problems with RTL languages. As mentioned on this forum already one of those problems is that you cannot place the cursor within the text. You can click and press space or delete, but you will never know whether you clicked right as the cursor does not move with the mouse.
Another problem is that when I want to save a document in RTL language (with a Windows compatible font) as a Windows Word copy, Windows Word or Mac Office Word does not treat it as a RTL language, but as a LTR language messing it all up.
I could overcome the first problem, although it is annoying. The second one is a needed one as I'm sending documents to windows-users who need to be able to read the documents properly. If that fails for RTL-documents, I see no use in buying iWorks. Perhaps there is a solution for this second problem. If not,.. I'd like to know when it's expected that there will be more proper RTL-support.

Another problem is that when I want to save a document in RTL language (with a Windows compatible font) as a Windows Word copy, Windows Word or Mac Office Word does not treat it as a RTL language, but as a LTR language messing it all up.
Hopefully you are aware that Word for Mac has no support for RTL at all (nor any Indic scripts).
As for Windows Word, have you tried all three options ( .doc and .rtf and .txt ) and found that RTL produced in Pages shows up as LTR?
Pages RTL bugs are shared by the rest of iWork plus iWeb. Mellel is the best app for RTL on a Mac, but you can also use a number of others like TextEdit, Nisus Writer, OpenOffice, etc.

  • InDesign CS2 - Korean Language Support

    All:
I am running InDesign CS2 v.4.0, and would like to place a MS Word document that includes Korean text. Currently, the text is displayed as sqaures in InDesign once the document has been placed.
Ideally I'd also be able to copy/paste Korean text from the Word doc to the InDesign layout.
Does InDesign support Korean text? Is there an update that can be applied to the app to allow for this?
    Matt

ID "supports" it -- for a given value of "support".
What you see is most likely because the current
    i font
in your InDesign does not contain these Korean characters. Select another font of which you are sure it has these characters, and all should be fine.
Fonts that support lots and lots of characters do not appear in the standard (sorted) position in the font list. They can be found at the very bottom, grouped by ... something... (perhaps character subset support). Try Arial Unicode MS for starters -- just to check if it works!! Then pick a nice one.
By the way, Korean is written from Left to Right, isn't it? If it's
    i Right-to-Left,
well, then I was wrong and it's not supported :-( And you can't buy an upgrade either. RTL languages work only with the ME (= Middle East) version of ID, and that's not by Adobe.

  • Languages supported by MDSD 3.0 and MDSD 4.0

    Dear Friends,
Can you please tell me which languages are support by MDSD latest versions.
I want to know is it support RTL language like Arabic.
    Regards
    Malik

    Hi Malik,
please have a look at SAP notes 1284852 and 1123208 > language versions.
It looks like RTL languages like Arabic are currently not supported for the UI.
However this does not necessarily mean, that you cannot use Arabic data (like e.g. names) when using these products.
    Best regards,
    Nils Buerckel

  • Hello, I am doing a layout in arabic language, and I am missing option of change direction in paragraph. I read on forum that I am supposed to download some kind of an plug in or version of indesign for arabic language support, but I just don't know what

Hello, I am doing a layout in arabic language, and I am missing option of change direction in paragraph. I read on forum that I am supposed to download some kind of an plug in or version of indesign for arabic language support, but I just don't know what to download.
Can you tell me step by step what to do and download.
    Thank you very much!

InDesign is from a technical viewpoint a Plugin Activator.
    Every function is a plugin.
With CC and higher you can change the language in the CC app preferences.
When you change the language, additonal plugins, necessary for that language are installed, with the MENA (Middle East North Africa) versions RTL functionality is added into your primary version.
InDesign chooses to start the program in the same language as you OS is set up, RTL functionality appears translated into your normal User Interface.
After installing a MENA version you can switch back to your main language.

  • Working in Arabic and other RTL languages in CP5.5

I'm building a module in 15 languages, including 2 RTL languages (Arabic, Urdu). I've been browsing and searching the forums and noticing many unanswered questions about RTL. I've been using the http://convert.wajihah.com/convert.html solution as so many before me, and it is, as one person suggested about a year ago, "...a pain in the ***."
I see mention of a Middle Eastern version (ME). If I own ELearning Suite 2.5 can I get it, or get it at a discount? I don't speak Arabic (nor Urdu, mores the pity!)... would I be able to read the menus in the ME versions?
Is there perhaps a product like WinSoft's Scribe Door (for Illustrator and/or InDesign) available that will work with Photoshop and Captivate?
Warning: correct answers to either or both Qs may unleash a torrent of further RTL language questions.
    Cheers

    Hi,
I've installed the WIndows 8 Skype and messenger, but it lacks RTL support:
    http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/7895/33333333333h.jpg
    1. Even if I write from right to left (using CTRL+SHIFT, it's not automatically goes to the right), after sending it, everything goes to the left and there is not option to change it.
    2. When writing mixed text with Hebrew and English at the same message, the sentence gets mixed up and doesn't make any sense.
Since MS Messanger service has full RTL support, I can't see why Skype, which is MS software, can't have the same. Please, fix these minor bugs, and RTL people would use your software, but currently it's just impossible.
P.S. The post above concerns English UI, and not Hebrew UI. I don't understand why in the English UI there is no RTL support.
    Best,
    Mike.

    Hello ,
Welcome to the User Discussion Forums
All Android Marketplace font changing apps require Rooting.
Rooting your tablet is not only unsupported, it is not recommended.
IF you are looking to change the language of your tablet you can do that without any programming.
Please review this tutorial on How to change the tablet language.

Uyghur is not avail at this time, however, Turkish is available.

  • RTL Tree support in Flex4

    Hi All,
i work in a mulilingual project where Tree component is needed. As till now( what i think from gooling..,and blogging.....) that the tree control is not supported in Flex for RTL languages we use custome tree handle by our code not flex tree control what i mean by supporting RTL by tree component is that the arrow triangle for tree expension shoud come right and if scroll bar present it should come left .
So is there any feature to suport it in flex4? or  if it not supported then till what it supported by TLF team as we are waiting for it...............
    looking forward for any suggesions.
    regards ,
    Gaurav Kumar pandey

I don't know of one, but I'm not a Flex expert -- you might do better to post this question in this forum:
         http://forums.adobe.com/community/flex/flex_general_discussion
where there are more Flex experts reading.
We don't have any plans for a Tree control in TLF, that is something that I would expect Flex would provide.
You could also take a look at Flex 4.1, if you haven't already, since I know they did some work there to make a better experience for RTL. Flex 4.1 builds are posted here:

  • Multi-language support for user-specified text strings used in the forms

multi-language support for user-specified text strings used in the forms
Instead of creating multiple forms, 1 in each different language, for the same service, is there any workaround?

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. For the two langugages, such as Spanish/English, you can create a single catalog with both of them. Once you get to more than two languages, the catalog would get unweildy and is therefore not suggested.

  • How to configure Oracle National Language Support for Hindi

    Hello
I am Working on one library project and right now it is in foxpro.
it is working in local(hindi) language using c-dec software. Now i want to run this project using oracle national
language support.i have done lots of rnd on that but till could not get success.what's wrong with that?
Following the step i am applied for that
1 I have create the database using in8iscii character set. Because In8iscii support the Hindi Language.
2 Set the variable NLS_LANG = hindi_india.in8iscii in environment. I am using the Windows 2000 OS because
    it supports the Hindi font(Mangal).
3 I am using the Oracle Developer as front end so using mangal font in front end i am able to display data
in Hindi format that's why i am selected Windows 2000 os.
4 I have done the special setting in Windows 2000 for Hindi.it is in controlpanel-regional setting-click the indic option
for india and in input locals set keyboard layout as Hindi also.
5 I also changed the Init.ora file and add the NLS_LANGUAGE = Hindi
nls_territory = india. now, I opens the database using this Init.ora file.
6 But It can't display the data in Hindi format.I could not able to display the data in Front End also.
So,pls help me in Oracle and also guide me in Linux platform also.
    null

    Hi Nimit,
I have tried inserting Hindi/Marathi into an Oracle database (I have tried versions 8.0.6 and 8.1.7).
I created the database using UTF8 character set. The NLS_LANG was set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8. Inserts into the database were via iSQL*Plus or import. For querying I used OCI and Pro*C. The data for my app is being served up as XML. I have not tried Developer. The DB platforms have been both HPUX and Win2K, while the client platform has been Win2K/IE5.5 SP2. I have been using Code2000 as the font.
Did you manage to view the stored data using the export utility ?
Also, you can try using yudit to edit unicode files on Linux.

  • Language Support for iPhone

I just got the iphone this morning. Its pretty good, except for two big problems. One is the EDGE network, which is slow, but nothing to be done about that.
The second is the lack of language support. I expected it to support the languages that OS X does, but it seems that the iphone is most limited in this regard. Of particular irritation to me is the lack of Hebrew support, as a good chunk of my iTunes library is in hebrew. In addition, websites don't render correctly with unsupported languages...
Is this going to be fixed? soon?!

    Tom,
The limitation seems to be one of the 4 included encodings that are in Mac OSX's version of Safari, but not supported by iPhone's Mail interface. I received 6 emails from Japan (thru the iPhone's Yahoo mail interface) and one of them came in as junk characters. In a browser, you can just keep trying the other encodings to make the junk characters readable-this is not possible (from what I can tell) within iPhone's mail interface.
If I have time, I will log into the Yahoo mail account directly thru Safari on the iPhone, to see if that works better than iPhone mail-but I'm assuming they use a similar encoding scheme. I also assume that once they release the iPhone in Japan, this will be addressed

  • Korean Language Support Package required for Reader but not Acrobat?

One of our departments on campus has created a form that is causing some users to get a message prompting them to download the Korean Language Support Package in order to fill in the form fields.
When I originally tested this in Acrobat Pro 9 I didn't get any errors.  Another user also reported the issue recently (two this week).  So we tested it again, but this time used both Reader 9 and Reader X -- both programs were generating this message to download the language pack.  The form appears to be completely in English with no Korean characters.  It uses fairly standard fonts and I didn't see any embedding or encoding issues with the fonts.
Aside from having end users download a Korean Language Support Pack to view a PDF that doesn't seem to contain any Korean, are there any other options out there without recreating the form from scratch?  Here is a list of the fonts used in the PDF.  The only types of encoding are Ansi and Identity-H (which I expanded in the SS above), with the latter fonts being embedded within the PDF.
Any ideas?  The form is linked below.  Thanks in advance for your replies.
Here is a link to the PDF

    SOLVED
While our problems differ, my solution may still be relevant.
My culprit was a rogue font in an embedded Visio drawing. I identified and located the font using the "List text using non-embedded fonts" Preflight analysis in Acrobat 9.4 Pro. I checked the encoding of each non-embedded font and discovered that Arial Unicode MS used Korean font encoding (specifically, KSCms-UHC-H). See screenshot below. Doubleclicking on one of the font properties highlighted the offending text in the pdf.
I went to that location in the source file, which happened to be in the first embedded Visio drawing (shown above). I double clicked the drawing, selected all, and selected Arial font. Then I regenerated the pdf and viewed it in Reader X. The Korean language pack error message did not appear and all Visio drawings displayed normally.
I would recommend using the Acrobat preflight tools to locate text or objects with incorrect font encoding within your PDF or form, then surgically striking (or carpet bombing) the affected location(s) in the source files with embedded/supported fonts.
    Hope this helps.
