RTL languagesٍُ

I'm trying out the 30 day trial of iWorks.
However, I encountered problems with RTL languages. As mentioned on this forum already one of those problems is that you cannot place the cursor within the text. You can click and press space or delete, but you will never know whether you clicked right as the cursor does not move with the mouse.
Another problem is that when I want to save a document in RTL language (with a Windows compatible font) as a Windows Word copy, Windows Word or Mac Office Word does not treat it as a RTL language, but as a LTR language messing it all up.
I could overcome the first problem, although it is annoying. The second one is a needed one as I'm sending documents to windows-users who need to be able to read the documents properly. If that fails for RTL-documents, I see no use in buying iWorks. Perhaps there is a solution for this second problem. If not,.. I'd like to know when it's expected that there will be more proper RTL-support.

Another problem is that when I want to save a document in RTL language (with a Windows compatible font) as a Windows Word copy, Windows Word or Mac Office Word does not treat it as a RTL language, but as a LTR language messing it all up.
Hopefully you are aware that Word for Mac has no support for RTL at all (nor any Indic scripts).
As for Windows Word, have you tried all three options ( .doc and .rtf and .txt ) and found that RTL produced in Pages shows up as LTR?
Pages RTL bugs are shared by the rest of iWork plus iWeb. Mellel is the best app for RTL on a Mac, but you can also use a number of others like TextEdit, Nisus Writer, OpenOffice, etc.

  • IE 10 and 11 can't display Google Chrome's landing page correctly in RTL languages (Hebrew, Arabic, Persian)

    Hi,
I’ve been trying to download Google Chrome from the official Hebrew version website (https://www.google.co.il/chrome/)
Using IE11 on Windows 7 SP1 from different computer setups, but every time the blue download box-link simply
didn’t show up. I’ve checked this with browserstack.com and found out it’s not a local issue, and also occurs on other RTL languages such as Arabic and Persian on Windows 7 with IE10 and IE11:

  • Working in Arabic and other RTL languages in CP5.5

I'm building a module in 15 languages, including 2 RTL languages (Arabic, Urdu). I've been browsing and searching the forums and noticing many unanswered questions about RTL. I've been using the http://convert.wajihah.com/convert.html solution as so many before me, and it is, as one person suggested about a year ago, "...a pain in the ***."
I see mention of a Middle Eastern version (ME). If I own ELearning Suite 2.5 can I get it, or get it at a discount? I don't speak Arabic (nor Urdu, mores the pity!)... would I be able to read the menus in the ME versions?
Is there perhaps a product like WinSoft's Scribe Door (for Illustrator and/or InDesign) available that will work with Photoshop and Captivate?
Warning: correct answers to either or both Qs may unleash a torrent of further RTL language questions.
    Cheers

    Hi,
I've installed the WIndows 8 Skype and messenger, but it lacks RTL support:
    http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/7895/33333333333h.jpg
    1. Even if I write from right to left (using CTRL+SHIFT, it's not automatically goes to the right), after sending it, everything goes to the left and there is not option to change it.
    2. When writing mixed text with Hebrew and English at the same message, the sentence gets mixed up and doesn't make any sense.
Since MS Messanger service has full RTL support, I can't see why Skype, which is MS software, can't have the same. Please, fix these minor bugs, and RTL people would use your software, but currently it's just impossible.
P.S. The post above concerns English UI, and not Hebrew UI. I don't understand why in the English UI there is no RTL support.
    Best,
    Mike.

  • Dreamweaver for RTL languages

Hi I need Dreamweaver for Hebrew. I've been told that Adobe discontinued this product.
Is this true? What alternative do you offer for RTL languages then?
    Thanks

    Hello,
normally it#s ok, when you write <html dir="RTL">. For more information see:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/en/dreamweaver/using/arabic-hebrew-text.html
esp: Text in Middle Eastern languages is mostly written from right to left (RTL). However, in general, the most commonly used form is bi-directional (bidi) text - a mix of left-to-right and right-to-left text.
    Good luck!

  • RTL language support

Regarding Right-To-Left language support: While building a report, I would like to set the breaks list box to "First and Second Columns", but Apex assumes that column order starts from the left. In the case of Hebrew, Arabic, etc, column order begins from the right. In order to use the automatic breaking and summing features I have to order my columns from left to right and the users don't like it.
Do I have any options here?
    David

    Hello David,
Apex assumes that column order starts from the leftApex assumes the order of columns as it appears in the report column attribute list. The first column will be the first column on that list, the second will be the next row on the list etc. This order has nothing to do with your page orientation.
Do I have any options here?Yes. You should set your page orientation to be RTL, and continue to work naturally with your report builder - http://i3.tinypic.com/wlrdsj.png and http://i3.tinypic.com/wlre3k.png .
If you need to do that on a specific page, you can use the following on your page HTML Header:
    <style type="text/css">
    body {direction:rtl !important;}
</style>You can see a page example here: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=22814:50
If you need to reverse your entire application to be RTL, the best and easiest solution will be to add the "direction" attribute to the "body" selector in your application CSS file. That will automatically reverse the orientation of all your application pages.
    Hope this can help,
    Arie.

  • Does ExportPDF support conversion of a PDF to Word in RTL languages?

    Hi,
I have used my free conversion trial on a pdf document in Hebrew. The conversion conserved the entire document's text and structure, the problem is that each word was reveresed. The order of the words in the sentence was correctly converted, but the letters in the word were reversed. Could this problem be fixed? This is the only problem preventing me from using this product.
    Thanks.
    Rony.

    Hi, Rony.
ExportPDF does not currently support Hebrew text. See here for more info: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1812
I've added this request to our Ideas list: http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1554
If you'd like to see us support Hebrew in the future, please add a comment and vote on this idea.
    Thanks.

  • Forte and Right-to-Left Languages

Thanks Patrick. The xml file is huge and I have read through it (more or less). Not that I could really detect any problem, as I am not sure what I am really looking for. The only thing that looked a bit dodgy is this
    <videoFormatOptions>********CYe****3bBkR4lYRaBk*******M***1zk***-FoQ57g*******N************44FmMLE** ***********************14BhNb7VQ5-g****IaBYNKA********************yQqJVPU****2** **0*********-JkQaxb*****E***************-IlBbUt*****E***********E****lkQqNm***** *****ZWNb7V******dhQ4Jn*******QO43mN*******************************0bBYPaI****** **</videoFormatOptions>
Does that look right? All I have is a motion graphics sequence with RTL & LTR languages, is mainly animated text with some photos fading in and out. It is set to be widescreen format.
I am not really sure what to do. I have managed to redo a section again (from start) but then Motion keeps on crashing on me. I think it does not like the combination of LTR and RTL languages.
I can't uninstall and re-install now, as I am in the middle of 3 projects with Motion FCP.
Oh boy, I am in trouble...

  • Right to left Languages how do I setup it on my leopard?!

    Hi
I bought a new macbook pro and I struggle to update right to left languages like Hebrew, this stiffen on me in the work the with Keynote Numbers ect'. someone can help?

You activate the input for Hebrew and other languages by going to system preferences/international/input menu and check the right box, plus the box for "show input menu in Finder." Then you select Hebrew in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder and type.
Unfortunately iWork and iWeb have various bugs with RTL languages. The best app to use is Mellel.

  • Menu Bar for RTL Laguages

    Hi,
I am new to flex, but excited.
I took some courses in Lynda.com, and the videos reffer to
    LTR languges.
I wonder if it possible to make the Menu Bar for Right to
Left languages as well, which means the bars open from the right.
    Thank you for your help

I think for this you need to create a custom component. Flex
3 has some support for rendering RTL languages, but I think text
input of these languages has some weaknesses. RTL language aware
controls are not yet in Flex. Maybe Flex 4, but I'm not sure. I
know some of the RTL language weaknesses will be addressed in Flex
    4. Until, gotta do extra work.

  • InDesign CS2 - Korean Language Support

    All:
I am running InDesign CS2 v.4.0, and would like to place a MS Word document that includes Korean text. Currently, the text is displayed as sqaures in InDesign once the document has been placed.
Ideally I'd also be able to copy/paste Korean text from the Word doc to the InDesign layout.
Does InDesign support Korean text? Is there an update that can be applied to the app to allow for this?
    Matt

ID "supports" it -- for a given value of "support".
What you see is most likely because the current
    i font
in your InDesign does not contain these Korean characters. Select another font of which you are sure it has these characters, and all should be fine.
Fonts that support lots and lots of characters do not appear in the standard (sorted) position in the font list. They can be found at the very bottom, grouped by ... something... (perhaps character subset support). Try Arial Unicode MS for starters -- just to check if it works!! Then pick a nice one.
By the way, Korean is written from Left to Right, isn't it? If it's
    i Right-to-Left,
well, then I was wrong and it's not supported :-( And you can't buy an upgrade either. RTL languages work only with the ME (= Middle East) version of ID, and that's not by Adobe.

  • Problems with composing a message with Gmail in RTL mode

It happens in RTL mode when you mix Hebrew text with numbers or with English text.
It happens only in Firefox. No problem with Chrome or IE browsers for example.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Type some Hebrew text without hitting the "enter" key. like שנה טובה
Gmail correctly identifies the text as being from an RTL language and aligns it to the right (RTL mode)
    2. At the end of the Hebrew text type some English text (or some numbers ). Happy new year January 2015
So you end up with a line with "Happy new year January 2015 שנה טובה"
    3. Start clicking the Backspace key. After a 3-6 clicks the backspace is not responding. (same bad behavior with the right and left navigation keys).
    Tested in a new/fresh profile.
Also tried it with a different gmail account and got same problems.
    Firefox 34
    Win 7 x64

    You can try to experiment with these two prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page;
    *bidi.texttype (1) 1:Charset 2:Logical 3:Visual (selection -> 3)

  • RTL and ligature support in standard controls

Creating a quick test, I was unable to determine how to use
the new features like RTL language support and advanced ligatures
in standard controls, like buttons etc.
Does somebody know if and how this is supported?

I'm also interested in whether the TLF can be used in
standard controls. Based on your suggestion to the OP, I checked
out the Gumbo forum and found it contains but two posts (including
the welcome) and nothing relevant about BIDI support for standard
    controls.
We currently have an opportunity which requires BIDI support
in our main app suite (currently Flex 3, FlashPlayer 9). I already
know that it is possible to use TLF in the current SDK provided we
upgrade to supporting FP 10, and I have seen many wonderful
examples of text fields that do just that.
The problem is, I really need to know whether it is possible
to use TLF in standard controls (Button, Label, List, etc.)
right now, and what level of development that would take. If
it is possible, would it involve an entire overhaul of our code to
create new renderers for every control? Is that what it will take
    in Gumbo as well?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How do I get RTL support in IND CC?

    Hi There,
I uninstalled InDesign CS6 and when I tried to install it back in Adobe App Manager I don't see it. Instead there were InDesign CC available. So, I install it. However the InDesign CS6 I had support RTL languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. I need it for some project that are still in work.
Now, for my surprise, InDesign CC do not have such thing. I am sure I did something wrong but I cannot understand what.
Please help me to solve the issue.
    Regards,
    Sebastian

    Well,
Now I think I did it.
    1. Is there a problem if I installed InDesign CC and InCopy CC with RTL support while Photoshop and Illustrator are installed from English (North America)?
    2. I got excited to install new CC applications so I delete all CS6, including Acrobat. Now, when I am on CreativeCloud desktop app, on English (North America), it says the Acrobat is Up to date. But I know I uninstall it. While on English (some Hebrew characters) is says it is not installed. So, I tried install it. It retunrs an error asking me to try install it again. I tried 3 times with no luck.
I did some research on this forums where I see same errors occuring on other applications like Photoshop.
Any help with that to reinstall it? It is already uninstalled so nothing else in there is working.
    Regards,
    Sebastian

  • Languages supported by MDSD 3.0 and MDSD 4.0

    Dear Friends,
Can you please tell me which languages are support by MDSD latest versions.
I want to know is it support RTL language like Arabic.
    Regards
    Malik

    Hi Malik,
please have a look at SAP notes 1284852 and 1123208 > language versions.
It looks like RTL languages like Arabic are currently not supported for the UI.
However this does not necessarily mean, that you cannot use Arabic data (like e.g. names) when using these products.
    Best regards,
