RTS5229 PCI Express Card Reader=Unassigned class [ff00] dv6t-7000

Hello everyone.  I am having issues with the built-in card reader in my HP dv6t-7000.  I know that this kind of question has been asked before, but I am unable to find a solution.  I am new to Arch, but have used almost ALL other distros.  Arch is the first Linux on my laptop.   Now down to the details.

The card reader class is Unassigned.  Why?  I followed this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=206464 and installed the realtek driver with no sucess. dmesg shows no changes. The card reader is basically ignored.
according to lsmod the module is active.

  • Mac Pro doesn't recognize USB 3.0 PCI express card

Mac Pro doesn't recognize USB 3.0 PCI express card.  Does it need specific drivers?

I did a little searching for that card.  The more I looked at it the more I felt that, yes, it needs a driver, and no, one doesn't exist for the Mac.  So it looks like that is a card only supported for PC's. But to be sure, if I were in your place at this point, I would contact MSI directly.

  • USB PCI-Express Card half working???

    I just purchased and installed a SYBA PCI-Express USB 2.0 5 Ports Controller Card (Model SD-PEX-NEC5U) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186010&Tpk=SD-PEX-NEC5U
I think it's half-way working. I did some researching prior to my purchase and I was under the impression that the Mac Pro (2006) could accept any PCI-express card. I have my Kensington USB bluetooth adapter plugged in (to the internal port) and it powers the adapter light and both my wireless mouse and wireless keyboard work perfectly. However any of the devices I plugged into the rear 4 ports are not working... (ie my Western Digital 1 TB hard drive that has 2 partitions on - one for Time machine backups and one for regular storage)
According to the Syba website, Mac OSX is not listed as a supported OS. The card came with a drivers disc but doesn't have any Syba drivers on it... tons of other manufacturers.
Can anyone offer advice about installing drivers or "adding hardware" (a la Windows)? Again, it's working with my bluetooth... so whats up with my hard drive?

A safe place to check and start your research is OWC.

As for MyBook - they can be iffy; if a drive fails, it is built into the case, so I prefer to buy cases with USB/FW and that you can install a drive yourself, even if comes with one.
USB: when there is FireWire and you can easily add SATA PCIe, yes they cost more but then they can drive multiple drives at full performance too.
When you buy generic cards, see if they use the same chipset as found in Sonnet Allegro and others.
    Then check
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ for reports in their upgrade database and articles.
And no, it requires PCIe, but not just any (and even PC with Windows 7, some cards can also be problem).

  • ESATA PCI Express card not being recognized

I have a Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz and I'm having trouble getting an eSATA PCI Express card to be recognized in either MAS OS X (10.5.6) or Win XP SP3.
When I plug a FireWire PCI Express card into the slot with a drive attached it gets recognized right away but the eSATA doesn't.
I can go into the system profiler when the card is plugged in and MAC OS X sees the card but the drive doesn't get mounted, or there is no prompt for me to initialize the drive (if it's a new, non-formatted drive). I've tried installing the driver that comes with the eSATA card with no change.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try?

    Hi,
Typically, this type of issue is caused by an incompatible enclosure or a card problem.
Please provide a link to the card and the enclosure for additional help. If you need an ExprressCard/enclosure combination that works I would suggest FirmTek.

  • Ok, so now I need a new eSATA PCI Express Card for my Mac Pro

I have a Seagate eSata External Drive which comes with an eSATA PCI card.
The http://www.cwol.com/serial-ata/esata-pci-express-1-ext-1-int.htm site recommends this card: eSATA PCI Express Card - 1 eSATA II and 1 Internal SATA II Port, but it doesn't specify whether it works on a Mac Pro - any suggestions?

    Hi
I think the Radeon 9800 is certainly the most powerful graphics card you could buy for your G4 and would do everything you need.
Just be aware there are at least 3 different Mac versions though.
There's a G5 version, the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition, which is 8X AGP and has 256MB VRAM.
There's an older Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition, which is 2X/4X AGP and has 128MB VRAM.
Finally there's a newer Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition, which is 2X/4X AGP and has 256MB VRAM.
So long as you get one of the 2X/4X AGP versions, either with 128MB or 256MB VRAM, it should work fine.
It's perhaps also worthwhile mentioning they do require a separate internal power connection, although this can be taken from a hard drive molex power connector. Also they have a cooling fan which can be noisy.
    I hope this helps.

  • Firewire PCI Express cards

I'm sorry if this is semi-redundant with the usb pci express card page already posted, but I was wondering if anyone knew if either of these would work on the Mac Pro:
    http://www.aaxeon.com/products/Productdetail.aspx?cate=8&modelno=FWB3414#specs
    http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/detail.asp?dpno=709052
If so, does anyone have any experience with either or know which is better? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
    Mac Pro

I checked OWC and they are saying Aaxeon for any PCIe Mac (dual core, quad, and Mac Pro). SIIG is probably, as usual, just reselling and putting their name on someone else's (and probably someone else's firmware, too).
I don't like the "20MB/sec writes based on manuf's tests" part though. But I probably will pick one up nonetheless.

  • Firewire 400 and 800 PCI Express Card Question

I just put in a Firewire 800 PCI Express card in my Mac Pro. If I add a Firewire 400 PCI Express card also to my Mac Pro will the 800 card work as in 400 speed due to the PCI Express 400 card being added to the Logic board?
    Thanks!!
    Sky..,

    Each card operates independently.

  • Will a siig NN-E20012-S2 PCI express card work in My quad core G5?

hello, sorry to bother all of you. but I've been snooping around these fourms and other places, but I can not seem to find a definate answer. Can anyone tell me if a siig NN-E20012-S2 PCI Express card will work in my quad core G5? if not, can you recamend a quality card that will work. I need Extra firewire 400 ports that are not on the same bus as the firewire 800 port. (audio interface iinterefearence issues)
    thanks
    mike

I finally tracked down the # for the company and called them. now I have the card but i do not see anyplace to plug in the power supply. The customer support for this company is lacking. I will never buy another siig product again. All i get is automated menus message machines, no real people. Do you have any idea how to install the card?

  • Adding Firewire 800 PCI Express Card to G5

I wanted to add a Siig Firewire 800 3-Port PCI-express card to my G5. One of the requirements was connecting a 4 pin power y cord to an available 4 pin power connector for reliable power output. I can't locate an available 4 pin power connector in my G5. Is there one available? Where is it? Which slot is best for the installation?

#1 zapping PRAM/NVRAM has to be from a cold start, and done thru 2 reboots (don't need to go crAZy with 3-5).
#2 Open Firmware is thorough, efficient, and can be done on any type of startup.
#3 "reset-nvram" - as I mentioned above, should be first step in hardware troubleshooting or anytime after changing hardware and getting a kernel panic on first restart.

  • Mic issue: SB X-FI Extreme 7.1 PCI-express card. New driver/software to blame?

NMic issue: SB X-FI Extreme 7. PCI-express card. New driver/software to blame? My mic has worked perfectly up untill the new driver update. It is now version .04.000 released 30 June 09'. That was yesterday as of this post. It was a complete reinstall of the driver and software and a new updater. When I finished all of the updates my mic no longer worked. Keep in mind that I have 2 mics and neither of them work. With the old driver and software I was able to access the Creative Audio Control Panel and I would find a tab called "Jacks". In that tab I could select "line in" or "microphone". I would select microphone and all would work well. Now I have a completely dumbed down Creative Audio Control Panel interface with no option that is similar. I have clean wiped and reinstalled the driver and sofware updates 3 times now with the same effect. Can anyone help please? I really don't want to wait -3 weeks for Creative support to get back to me. The only thing worse than Creative support is UBISoft support!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Trying to use 3 PCI express cards on P6N Diamond

On the diamond I have 4 PCI express slots.  I use a dual monitor setup and currently have 2 nvidia 6800XT video cards that I use for them.  It works fine if these are the only two cards installed, but I wanted to use the cards in SLI mode for my main monitor and use a spare nvidia 6600LT card for my second monitor.  I read that the chipset supports PCIx16x16x8.
I leave the 6800XTs in the white slots and i try putting the 6600LT in either yellow slot.  When I boot up, I get no video until i remove the 3rd card.  Is there a bios setting I am overlooking or something?  I cannot find any documentation on the 3rd and 4th PCI express slot and have not seen any jumpers either.
I also flashed the bios to 1.10

The physics setup should work through drivers only. It is intended to plug in a bunch of cards and the drivers do the rest...
However, neither nVidia nor ATI support the AGEIA PhysX engine, so it all doesn't apply to games that use that engine (GRAW I & II, etc.). You will need an AGEIA PPU for those games. Both nVidia and ATI have agreements with Havok to use their Havok FX physics engine in the future, but to this date there are no developments there.
So, your hardware can do it, but the software can't...for the time being.

  • Can Any one please help me find a compatible Wireless N MINI PCI Express Card for my HP G50-133us?

I have a HP G50-133US notebook, it currently has a Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter. I am looking to upgrade it to a B/G/NWiFi Card. I can find plenty of Mini Pci-Express Wireless N cards but not sure if they are compatible. Does anyone know if as long as it is Mini PCI-Express and have the correct drivers this would work? Or does anyone know if a known working upgrade that would work? Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!.

You MUST get an HP branded wi-fi card AND it has to be on the "white list" for your computer in the BIOS or the card will block the computer from booting with an error message. Here is a link to your Manual:

Page 19 starts the list of known compatible wifi cards.
You can search eBay by part number for the card and likely find one at a decent price.

  • 2 port e-Sata PCI-Express card in my 2008 8 core Mac Pro

Hi. I have a question for you guys. I just purchased a PCI-Express e-SATA card for my 2008 Mac Pro 8 cores and i'm wondering if i have to connect it to one of the two connectors on the motherboard or do i simply slide in the card? The reason i'm asking is that the connector cable where not provided with the card and it says optional on the package.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Yvon.

Just to help clarify: The 2 port eSATA card that you bought just needs to be installed in the PCIe slot of your MP, just don't install in slot 2. The two extra internal SATA ports are designated for use for optical drives, but will work for internal or external hard drives as well. They don't need to be connected to the eSATA card that you bought. However if you want to use these ports to run 2 more eSATA drives, you can buy a cable set that will route these ports to the back of your MacPro for about $25. The one limitation is that drives hooked to these internal ODD ports can't be hot swapped, whereas drives attached to the eSATA card you bought should be hot swappable. Hope this helps!

  • Msi neo4 platinum + xfx 6600gt pci express card..

This can be a stupid question
But i just builded a new system, with a msi neo4 platinum motherboard and a xfx 6600 GT pci express videocard.
which runs great, but when i start my system i see the following line (form the bios)
PCIe VGA LINK WIDTH   X  4
And in my nvidia drivers i see this :
    Bus:   PCI Express X4
    Is this correct ?
I thought it should say X16 or am i thinking the wrong way ?

    Quote from: syar2003 on 08-May-05, 20:56:12
It should run with X16 lanes if the gfx-card is equipped with X16 interface .
Anyway the difference between 4X and 16X isn't exactly whohaa in todays games/apps .
    http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041122/pcie-analyse-09.html
the videocard  is equipped with and x16 interface, and the motherboard must show X16..
I asked a friend of mine, who has been playing with my machine yesterday en he says
it did show X16 in the bios, when starting the machine...
I did the following things :
    - Removed an replaced videocard, did not help.
    - Reset cmos, dit not help.
    - Checked bios for an option, dit not help.
And also flashed the motherboard to version 1.2, dit also not work.
Looks like the motherboard or the videocard is not working properly anymore...
    Anyone got an idea ?
