Rubber bottom

Hi guys, it seems that my macbook 2010 is another victim of the faulty rubber bottom issue.
Can anybody tell me how to get the free replacement?

Instructions for the MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program are located here - http://www.apple.com/support/macbook-bottomcase/

  • Rubber bottom of my macbook

I use my Macbook a lot...I'm in college and it's my only computer so you can imagine how much I use it. The rubber bottom seems to be coming off. I'm wondering if it is possibly just the heat that is getting to it so it warped it? I'm not sure. Is this something that is expensive to fix? Do I need to go to an Apple store to get it fixed?

  • Brazilian dealer parkshopping iplace refuses to replace defective rubber bottom!!!

I just want everybody to know how irritating is to pay for something that doesn't worth.

OK I'll play (now that you posted it in big letters it is so much clearer):
    What "brazilian dealer"?
    What is "parkshopping"?
    What is "iplace"?
    What defective rubber bottom?
What has this to do with Pages for Mac?
Would you like to post that in Portuguese? Just make sure you say it clearly, we have no idea at all what you are talking about.

  • Cost or replacing screen and rubber bottom?

The rubber bottom part of my 2009 Macbook has started to come off so I want to get it replaced. Does anyone have an idea of the cost that Apple would charge? And also what is the cost of replacing the screen? I have a scratch on it and it is constantly multiplying in size.
    Thankyou

Your MB may qualify for a free bottom replacement. See here:
    http://www.apple.com/ca/support/macbook-bottomcase/
Alas, there is no screen replacement program.

  • The rubber bottom

The rubber bottom is coming off the computer. It is peeling away from the edge starting at the bottom left screw.  How can it be fixed?

  • Rubber bottom macbook

The rubber bottom of my late 2009 model Macbook is beginning to bubble up and fall off.. I took it to the genius bar because I saw online about the replacement program for the rubber bottoms. The guy that helped me told me a didn't qualify for the repair so I just accepted it and went on my merry way. When I got home I got back on the website and saw that I should qualify  so I requested an at home repair kit thingy.. on the repair status it says processing replacement.. Does that mean i actually did qualify after all and the guy at the store didn't know what he was doinG? And if so how long does it take to deliver because it's been in the processing replacement step for about 2 weeks now..  any suggestions will help!!!! im extremely aggravated I had to drive 45 min to an apple store and be turned away just to find out when I get home that I do indeed qualify! HELP ME

I would take the MB back to the Apple store this time and let them take a look at it. As you saw in the other thread, mine fits nice and snug and won't let and dust or dirt in. It looks like it was installed at the factory.
There is nothing else anyone here can do for you.
    Good luck.

  • Where can i buy a rubber bottom cover for my white macbook?

rubber backing off bottom cover has come away, no longer under warranty
mac doctor store nearby wont just sell me the part, want me to pay over $100 labour to install it (8 screws removed and replaced)
Anyone know if/where i can buy a part to install myself??

Try ifixit.com, I know they sell Apple parts and tools for servicing your own computer. You may also be able to find that type of part on eBay, though it would probably be used.

  • Does Apple deliver the bottom cover of the macbook to the Philippines???

Cause I really need it... the rubber bottom has melted off.

Since we are users here like yourself, that is difficult to answer.  Did you pay for airmail or other expedited delivery? Where is it being shipped from? If you can answer those questions, you can estimate a range when it should arrive.

  • MacBook bottom cleaning HELP??

    Hi,
I have the new MacBook with the rubber bottom. A few days after buying it, I notice it gets very dirty often. Some of the stains just won't go. I need help on how to clean it properly. Anyone know how?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3226
"The bottom case of the MacBook uses a soft nonslip material. Use a 3M Gray Microfiber or soft dye-free, lint-free cloth to clean the bottom case.
It is safe to use isopropyl alcohol 70% or iKlear on the bottom case. Remove any surface dirt gently with your bare hand before proceeding with a cleaner and cloth. After cleaning, dry the bottom case with a soft, lint-free or micro fiber cloth."
Generally, just apply the same rules as to any other electronic item. Avoid water and avoid paper or cotton to clean it (the mini powder they generate can penetrate the case), use mini-cloth like the ones for glasses. For the product itself it depends if your case is alluminium or plastic but in any AppleStore or Eletronic retailer you'll find specific cleaning products.

  • Bottom cover warped by battery heat

My MacBook is just over a year old and the bottom cover is warped from the battery heat from charging (pulled away from under the front center below the mouse pad), is this covered by Apple Care extended plan (cannot get any infromation online as site is down)? Love it overall, but the bottom plastic is cheap!

    WAITTTTTTTTT! =)
I didn't realize that you were having the bad rubber bottom issue =) Apple is covering it.
I had the same issue with mine.
    3 Options
bring to Apple store and they do it
bring to an Apple athorized repair and they do it
order the part for free and do it yourself
The link below has the place to order it if you want to do it yourself. Also has other info on it.

  • How can I replace the power supply IN the time capsule

I have a TimeCapsule that has a bad powersupply. I have opened the timecapsule to confirm this. Has anyone done this before? If so, where did the power supply come from? Cost? I took this to the Apple Igneous bar and they said there is nothing that can be done about it.They said it couldn't even be opened, but simply peeling the rubber bottom off and unscrewing a number of tiny screws and that's it. The 1 TB drive is LOOSE in there. That was a bit of a surprise. I had thought that the issue was the drive itself was bad. I had hoped that if I removed that the AP part would at least work, but after opening it up and firing it up I could hear that the power supply was buzzing thus the conclusion it was the issue.
I am going to put the SATA drive in a reader to see that it is indeed ok. If that checks out, then I know for certain it is the power supply, but I don't know what to use as a sub since the unit needs both 12V and 5V. I'd just as soon find a good supply and use that. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John A Kostelac

What version is your TC.. A1xxx from the rubber foot?
Power supplies are not available from apple. They do not consider it repairable. It is a sealed consumable.
Power supplies are available from ebay.. simply type time capsule power supply into search.
This is absolutely standard issue that has been ongoing for ages and ages.
    See https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair
For a multitude of ways to fix it.
The 1 TB drive is LOOSE in there.
No, it is not loose, it has rubber mounts with pins in the bottom base plate. You cannot see the mount points with the base off. This is standard hdd mount for low noise and vibration.
I had thought that the issue was the drive itself was bad.
Drives seldom are the problem. The Gen2 WD black has been less than great though.. and later spinpoint in Gen3 not so good.

  • How to get to your files when your Time Capsule dies :(

I am posting this here to help someone who cannot access a Time Machine backup because
    the backup was "corrupted"
the <insert whatever obscure message that contains the word "sparsebundle" here> message appears
the Time Machine won't open up your backups
    the Time Capsule dies
First of all, I absolutly am a fan of Time Machine and Time Capsule. And they work great ... until they don't - and that is when panic sets in. I haven't had a Time Capsule die on me (because I remembered to enter a "Remember to get a new Time Capsule" event for 18 months after I bought my first one) and I am meticulous about keeping backups. I am a software engineer and, well, before we had github.com ... we had to protect our hard drives.
If your Time Capsule has died - or you can get into the Time Capsule through the Time Machine interface - you can still access you files. You don't need to go out and buy some fancy software to get back your lost stuff. You can't attach a usb cable to mount your Time Capsule (atleast on my 2T ones) - but you can open it to get to the hard drive
Most likely - the hard drive in your Time Capsule is still good (the thing that dies seems to be the power source). The key is to
open your Time Capsule peel back the rubber bottom and you will see some worx or hex screws
take out the hard drive (mine was a Western DigitalCaviar Green -> thanks Apple for being green!)
mount your drive to your Mac (you will prob have to get a SATA to USB adaptor (I use a Voyager Q)
from the Finder (yeah, the FINDER!) navigate into "data>ShareRoot" (this is where mine was, you might have to poke around)
double click the "sparsebundle" for your backups
In there, like little ducks, are directories for every backup - like a normal directory structure. This completely blew my mind when I found this out. It wasn't some mysterious thing like I was making it out to be. Everything was there, in increments, as I had before.
If you are not careful - you might damage your Time Capsule ... but chances are it is already dead. I keep my 2T WD in a safe place with a safe case for posterity. However that hard drive is just like any other hard drive ... it is just not in a Time Capsule.
This is a last ditch effort to get back your files. I resorted to this when I couldn't access my Time Machine backups through the GUI.
I hope that this helps someone and now, for something not so completely different: http://timecapsuledead.org

I just wanted to point out ... that when you "double click on the sparse bundle" - you are actually opeing up the "DiskImageMounter"  and another "hard drive" will appear on you Desktop or in your FInder.
It is this "second" Time Machine that you will find your files in date tagged directory!

  • Magsafe Problems

I have a mid-2010 MacBook 13" White Unibody and it's less than a year old; In the past couple of days I've been noticing some slightly worrying changes in my magsafe. It appears that in some positions it will refuse to charge my MacBook, I noticed some grot in the adapter and proceeded to carefully remove it as instructed by the troubleshooting page provided by Apple. Quite strangely, it appears to charge when there's a kink in the cable, it also moves around a lot within the adapter and fear that it is the Mac not the cable and will gradually deteriorate. Another worrying change is that when it is charging it generates a lot of heat... so much so that last night it caused the rubber bottom to warp and I have had to order a new rubber bottom via the replacement scheme provided by Apple. All other forums I have read haven't quite been able to put my mind to rest, does anyone know of what's wrong with my Macbook and how I could go about fixing it? Perhaps a new Magsafe cable?

I've come across this before with the odd Apple rep. You have to expain to them that you do not need the complimentary telephone support but a hardware repair. You have a 12 month hardware warranty and faulty hardware to report not a support question.
If they insist on not helping try another call to a different rep and then move on to Customer Relations
    Apple define Complimentary Support here;

  • ARD 3.6 Admin on 10.8 having issues connecting to 10.6 machine.

basically i have no issues connecting to any of the 10.7 machines in the office (all have 3.6 client installed now).
have no issues connecting to 10.7 machines that have dual monitors (most).
no issues with the few 10.4 and 10.5 machines i still have. nor any of the Xserves on 10.6 nor one single-screen 10.6 desktop i have.
BUT... there is *1* 10.6 machine that i can not connect to. the only main difference between it and other 10.6 machines is that it has dual monitors.
when it connects i only can see the external monitor showing up. then just pure black on the primary laptop screen. if i switch views to show one or the other... stays the same. a black screen on the main laptop display. if i switch to the black screen one and turn off 'scaling' i can only see the bottom half of the screen... but placed in the upper half of the viewer (with black beneath it). i can interact with it... but only with the things i can see on the bottom of the screen.
if i swap which is the "main" screen on the client in Displays (dragging title bar to other screen) ... there is no change. i can only see the external.
on a few of the 10.7 machines with dual monitors i *did* see a similar problem after installing 3.6 client. but after a restart they have been perfectly fine. only happened on a few machines though. not all.
so i restarted that dual-monitor 10.6 machine (it leaves the office frequently lately) and there was no change. turned Remote Management off / on. no change. resintalled the 3.5.3 ARD Client (no 3.6 on 10.6) ... no change.
the only change i did see... was that my ARD admin no longer can connect to it at all now (!!!). never times out either. just "Connecting" forever. however with direct client-style Screen Sharing i could connect. and there was no change.
the client machine itself is a Late 2009 MacBook (rubber bottom style). 2.26 C2D with 4GB RAM.
anyone else seen anything similar with 10.6 machines with dual-monitors connecting from a ARD 3.6 Admin on 10.8?
the machine itself can't be upgraded beyond 10.6 for the time-being (it needs a couple PPC apps with no replacements that are Intel). so that currently isn't an option.

    I have similar issues.
10.7.4 running ARD 3.6. Connecting to laptops running 10.6.... "when it connects i only can see the external monitor showing up. then just pure black on the primary laptop screen."
Trying the same thing from ARD 3.5.2 running on a 10.6.8..... same problem.
Trying the same things from ARD 3.4 running on 10.5.8.... works perfectly well. Can switch between dual or either views......
