Rubber cases vs Hard Cases

I've had both the Incase Slider and the Incase Protective cover. I returned both after a while.
Incase Protective Cover - stretch at the bottom, but good feel
Incase Slider - doesn't stretch but will crack when dropped unlike the rubber case
So rubber cases don't crack and hard cases don't stretch. I used to think hard cases were better until I realized that they scratch the phone and crack when dropped on impact.
Can anyone recommend any rubber cases that don't stretch? Also, I was disappointed with the Power Support Air jacket that I just trashed it. I threw away the screen protectors too because I could never get air bubbles off. Also, the invisible shield started to crack.

I went to Apple looking for the Speck CandyShell but they were sold out. Instead, I re-bought the Incase Slider (gray this time) and I love it. I also bought a screen protector to go with it.
I'm gonna say I love this case. I should never have returned it in the first place and wasted $35 on the Power Support Air Jacket.
Ah well, this will be my main case from now on and I highly recommend it. I even got a screen protector (some default one at the mall) and it works nice. Though it is noticeable in light, it actually feels better than my old Invisible Shield. It's not bulky like the IS and I can slide my fingers on the screen as if I didn't have any screen protector on at all.
So I actually do prefer cases because the iPhone 3G has a plastic back this time, which is more fragile than the original iPhone.
If it was the original iPhone, I'd just buy a sleeve/pouch. This is just my opinion. So the $17 pouch I bought from Best Buy will sit in my box unused from now on.

  • How do I move my large iTunes collection from a case-sensitive hard drive to a case-insensitive hard drive?

I currently keep my iTunes media on an external hard drive because it takes up too much space on my machine. I recently discovered that it was formatted as case-sensitive when I bought it, and now months later I'm having issues. When attempting to back up my files on a case-insensitive hard drive, the operation failed due to conflicting file/folder names (Artist and artist are now considered the same file name and one would have to overwrite the other). I now have a large iTunes file collection that is stuck on the case-sensitive hard drive, and I want to save a backup on a case-insensitive drive.
Is there a way to identify all cases where multiple files/folders have the same title/album/artist but different spelling so there will be no conflicts? The folder/file names would have to be crossed referenced to highlight any cases where File/fiLe/file  would cause a problem.
I imagine there is a way to do this using iTunes script or Automator  or a command in terminal or something rather than going through and checking/fixing all the information for thousands of songs by hand. I'm at the limits of my minimal development skills, so any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to use either "Carbon Copy Cloner" or "SuperDuper" (free for this purpose) to copy your case-sensitive volume to an empty case-insensitive one. Make at least two such copies on different drives. One is not enough to be safe.
If there are any name conflicts—that is, files in the same folder with names that differ only in case, such as "File" and "file"—then you will either get an error or one of the files won't be copied. You must ensure either that no such conflicts exist, or that the consequences are not important. How you do that is up to you. Unless you went out of your way to create conflicts, they probably don't exist.
Then erase the source volume in Disk Utility as case-insensitive. This action will remove all data from the volume.
Restore from one of your backups using the same application you used to create it, or use the "Restore" feature of Disk Utility, which will be faster. Search its built-in help for the term "duplicate" if you need instructions.

  • Docking Speakers that Work with Hard Case

Hey there. I am going to get an iPod Video and I am going to be getting a hard case for it and because of previous iPod experiences, I do not want to take my iPod out of it ever again. Thus, as I look for docking speakers, one of my main concerns is that I can dock the iPod whilst the case is still on. Are there any good docking speakers that work with the Contour iSee hard case?

    Hey!
By appearances it looks much like the Agent 18 case I use.Although I can't see the Dock access on the one you are looking at but they say "easy access to ports".If that's the case, you should be able to use the Bose Sounddock.I do and never take my Pod out.Just can't use the insert(not a major problem)for a snug fit.I can use all the ususal dock connectors too. Also, when you get your 5th Gn,leave the plastic film on the front. Also protects your clickwheel, and from scratches off the case itself. It does happen....

  • Clear hard case for MacBook

Hi, I have a 13" white MacBook that I got in June of 2009. I've been trying to find a clear hard case/cover for it, but none of the ones I've found, online or in stores, will fit mine. Most of the ones I've found are for Unibody or MacBook Pro. I've ordered 2 that were supposed to fit, and neither one did. Does anyone know where I can find a case that'll fit the 13" Mid-2009 MacBook? Or does anyone know of a site that can help me identify which cases will fit? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks so much!

  • Which is better rubberized hard case or a hard case?

Rubberized hard case is easier to get on/off, hard case protects better. As far as the brand, I use Incase and am very happy with it.

  • Hard case for the air?

    Hi all,
I've ordered an entry level 13 inch macbook air with 4gb ram today. However, I've been trying to find a hard case for my new air for the last couple of hrs without any success.
Can somebody please suggest to me some cases with a soft inner lining and hard outer shell? Or a hard shell case for the air?
    Thanks

    Hi David,
Thanks for the suggestion. The Pelican case looks really good, but it’s a bit heavy when combined with the air. The total weight will be the same as my old 15” macbook pro, which defeat the point of me getting the air as a light weight laptop.
I did found couple of interesting cases from a company called Cumpler.
    Hard Suit 13" Air:

They have a store in central London, so I’ll go and have a look this week.
    Hi n_n,
I had an Incase hard shell on my macbook pro, and there were few cracks on the corners of the case after few months of use. So I want either a clip on hard shell or a carry case with hard top; bottom and edge protection for the air without adding too much weight.

  • Hard Case for Macbook

I have a hard case (made by Speck) is it safe for my Macbook Pro? I'm concerned about it blocking the ventilation

Cases of any sort hinder the MPB's cooling requirements. Get whatever you want but don't be surprised when it runs hot.
My Powerbook withstood over a decade of daily typing. The keys are fine. Just don't spill anything on it.

  • Hard Case for ibook G4 14 inch

I am in need of locating a snap on hard case, preferably in red, for my ibook. I have searched for many days but to no avail. I have checked Spec, Ebay, Macworld, etc. Would appreciate any suggestions.

If your battery is not in the recall group (mine missed it by a few digits this time), I would not worry too much. However, if you really smell smoke, or see it, remove the battery.
Also, where is your iBook getting hot? On the left or right side? On the palm rest? If it's the palm rest on the left side, it's the hard drive causing the heat, because that's where it is. If it's the right side, it's the battery, because it's just under there. I have an iBook G4 12" model, and the right palm rest never gets hot. The left one, where the hard drive is located, does, and this is normal, unfortunately.

    Hi Everyone,
I am one of the engineers at Speck involved in designing and launching the MacBook See Thru Case. Thank you for your interest and feedback regarding this product. However, after reading through this discussion page, I feel it is necessary to dispel some misconceptions about this case. We are a case company that has been designing, engineering and selling cases for years. I'm not sure which Agent 18 case (great cases by the way) is being referred to in the previous thread, but without knowing the exact case, I am assuming there are inherent differences in the mounting system used. Specifically the following:
    1. The "Sandpaper effect" occurs when two surfaces rub against each other. In the example with the ipod case, I believe (and because I don’t know which case it is, I can be wrong) that the scratching was a result of the ipod sliding into the case, or sleeve. Typically hard PC cases have tight tolerances, which leave a minimal amount of clearance. Because of this, the ipod is more likely to be scratched when inserted into the case. However, unlike the ipod case example, the Macbook case clips onto the MacBook. Instead of a sliding motion, the MacBook See Thru is a snap on and lift off system. Also, because the See Thru is clipped onto the Macook, it is a static system, thus no surfaces would be moving against each other.
    2. More importantly, we designed the MacBook See Thru with small spacers that keep a minimal distance between the surface of the See Thru and the MacBook. This means that unlike the Ipod case that sits against the surface of the Ipod, the MacBook See Thru maintains uniform clearance.
Lastly, from a consumer standpoint, and user of many, many different CE devices, I am always hesitant to use adhesive films on my products. In my experience, they tend to leave a residue, which is sometimes difficult to get off, and makes your device have a higher affinity for dirt. This is not to say that all films are created equal (because there are some companies that have engineered them not to leave as much of a residue). Also, films tend to scratch and rip easier. Please remember that there may be some bias in my comments (being a Speck engineer that has been so involved in this project), so take them at your own discretion. But don't take my word for it, go out to the Apple Store and check them out for yourself. I think you won't be disappointed.
