  • Two rubber feet have fallen off my macbook pro ..... i have tried online to have them replaced under apples back replacement programme but whe i enter the serial number i am told i dont qualify for this programme, but no reason is given.....?

I own a 15" macbook pro, purchased in mid 2010. Two of the rubber feet have recently fallen off and while researching how to replace them i discovered Apple have a "replacement back programme" for just such a problem. I entered the serial number in their website and was told i do not qualify for said programme.....No reason given at all.......although they state that macbooks bought at the time i purchased mine should qualify.....any ideas ????

Call Apple Customer Relations - 1-800-767-2275.  Ask politely & firmly that you want to be transferred to Customer Relations.  Tell them exactly what you stated in your post.
    GOOD LUCK!

  • Rubber feet for 2008 macbook pro

where can i get the little grey rubber feet for my macbook pro (late 2008 - before the unibody version)
    cheers

I have one of the pre unibody MBPs as well.  The feet really are not rubber but plastic.  They may be a bit difficult to get.
    Ciao.

  • Does anyone sell replacement rubber feet for Macbook pro?

Replacement rubber feet for MBP unibody. This might sort the issue with the wobble I have.

This is what I sent. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the input.
    Mr. Cook,
I've been a loyal customer for a decade. Recently three of the four plastic/rubber feet fell off of the bottom of my mid-2009 2.8 GHz MBP S/N W89XXXXXXYB. I called the Apple Store I use most often, Aspen Grove in Littleton, CO. I described the problem to a genius. They told me that they would have replacement feet waiting available at the Genius Bar within a week or so at no charge.
I went to the Aspen Grove Store on Wednesday, December 14, to pick up the feet. I met with a young lady named Kacy. She first told me that she would get the feet for me. She then told me that I had to bring my computer in and a genius would install the feet. Then she went in the back for a few minutes, came out and told me that the feet were not available. She said that I needed a whole new bottom piece, but that it would be covered. Kacy went in the back again, came and told me that the bottom wouldn't be covered after all, that my only option was to pay $186 for a new bottom piece.
About that time the business pro, Greg, came up. After hearing the problem he told Kacy that Apple could cover the bottom piece. They then conferred for a few moments, went back in to the back of the store and returned a few minutes later once again reneging on the offer to replace the bottom piece.
I had an appointment, so I voiced my displeasure with Greg and Kacy about being treated like a Yo-yo.
When I had time later in the evening, I called the Aspen Grove store and asked for the store manager. Instead I was directed to a manager on duty (I think), Hailey. I attempted to explained the situation to Hailey, but she continued to interrupt me, characterize Apple employees offers to take care of the problem and then renege on those offers as a "misunderstanding."  She was completely intractible and began to take on a tone of taunting me about the situation. Exasperated, I ended the call.
Hoping for a different experience, I went to the Briargate store in Colorado Springs on 12/26. Instead, I received a whole lot of "so what," shoulder shrugging and indifference from the employees there.
Sir, I understand that things wear out and break, but it cannot by Apple's position that the only way to replace three plastic feet that maybe cost 50 cents is by buying a $186 replacement part, can it?
The position and attitude of your employees in this matter is such a sea change from the exemplerary customer service I've previously seen that I'm struggling to understand what's changed at Apple. An ipad 3, iphone 5, new laptops for my wife and I and a desktop workstation are all on the wish list for my growing photography business in 2012, but I'm sure you can understand my new found reticence at purchasing more Apple products if this is the way I will be treated.
Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

  • Replacement rubber feet for MU09 battery

A rubber foot on the MU09 battery that came with my computer is missing.  Can anyone point me to a replacement part, preferably with an HP part number?
Note that the rubber feet I am looking for are for the battery itself, not the computer.  The MU09 battery has two circular rubber feet about 0.9mm in diameter.

I'm always buying old laptops on ebay and fixing them up and they are always missing the rubber feet.  I went to a pool supply place and bought a set of rubber feet for outdoor steps. I cut them to size and glue them on with automotive trim adhesive.  That's probably overkill for you for one foot, but look around your house at tabletop appliances like small fans or lamps or something you might have sitting around that you don't need anymore and see if it has rubber feet on it. You could cut the rubber to size and glue it on the battery.
    Just an idea.

  • What is the correct part number for dvi to vga adapter for macbook pro model A1260

Can someone tell me the Apple part number for the DVI to VGA adapter that came with a Macbook Pro model A1260? (Early 2008)
My adapter has reached the end of useful life.
    Thanks!

You have a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2009 (MacBook Pro 4,1)
The Mac's port is a Dual-link DVI (VGA, Composite and S-video with adapter)
The DVI connector  connects to the Dual link-DVI port, thus you need a DVI to VGA adapter.

You also can search the Apple store online for the part, but it's so basic and simple that paying more for Apple's version is just for looks.

  • 512GB SSD for mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro

    Hi all,
I have a 13" mid-2009 MacBook Pro (model ID MacBookPro5,5) with the 128GB SSD. Unfortunately, that SSD is now pretty much full, and I have to keep unloading data and uninstalling applications to at least ensure the minimum amount of swap space.
The SSD rocks, so I don't want to go back to a mechanical disk and would like to update to a 512GB SSD instead.
As far as I'm aware, the potential candidates in that category that might fit are:
    Crucial m4 (~$750)
    Kingston SSDNow (~$750)
    Axiom Signature Max (~$1,150)
    ToshibaTHNS512GG8BB (~$1,000 - $1,200, but hard to come by)
    Apple MC731ZM/A (~$1,400)
The difference between the last two, in my understanding, is that Apple's SSD is Toshiba with custom firmware.
So, there's obviously a huge price difference, and I'd like to go with the cheapest solution that is known to work.
Some people who installed Crucial or Kingston drives reported random beach balls or lock-ups after installing those drives, and that's obviously the last thing I need. I am not even 100% sure whether Apple's $1,400 solution would work in a 2009 MacBook Pro. Supposedly, it's a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" bracket, so theoretically it would fit, and one would hope that with the Apple-specific firmware everything runs right out of the box. But it's really designed for a Mac Pro tower, and I haven't seen anyone online actually confirm that it works.
Any first-hand experiences with 512GB SSDs in mid-2009 MacBook Pros?
    Thanks!

I think you mean Office for Mac. In any event, the standard applications will come with the reinstall, like Mail, iTunes, etc. Anything else won't. If you have the original disks the machine came with, the iLife apps should be on there.
I have to say this... I know you probably don't want to spend money on this, but if the data is important, the better way to handle this is to buy another hard drive. They're cheap. I can tell you how to prep the new drive if you don't know how. Then run Migration Assistant when you're done and let it try to pull over all your stuff from the old drive. Once all that is done, you can reformat your old drive and you'll have something to use for backup. You don't say how big your current drive is, but even a 1TB is well under $100 now. The reason I suggest this is because if you miss anything important on your old drive, once you format it it's gone. The way I'm suggesting, you'd be able to make sure you have all you need first.

The cheap & easy way is to just drag the app to the Trash.
    If you want to get all of the associated files use an app deleting app like the free AppCleaner;
    http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
Just drag an app and drop it on the AppCleaner icon in the Dock and it will find and present to you all the files it thinks are associated with the app. You can uncheck any that you want to keep and then let AppCleaner Trash the rest.

  • Is there a MagSafe 2 compatible portable external power source for the retina display MacBook Pro?

I’m using a retina display MacBook Pro with the MagSafe 2 connection.   I would like to have a portable external power source to extend the use of my laptop on long field trips where I am away from power sources. Swapping batteries is not an option for this generation of MacBook Pros.  There seem to be many options for PC’s and even iPhones/iPads/iPods but the MagSafe 2 connection seems to be the issue.  I saw one link that suggested buying an Apple MagSafe 2 power adapter and performing surgery on the power cord (using components provided by the vendor) so that the adapter would run on their back up battery.  I was hoping for a more esthetically pleasing solution. Any suggestions?  Does this product exist and I just missed it? Clearly, if a MagSafe(1) compatible external battery existed I could adapt that using the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 converter.

    Sparon,
I wouldn’t recommend using an underpowered AC adapter with your MacBook Pro. It sounds as though the best solution would be to get a different laptop bag with a sufficiently large side pocket.

I recently purchased, from the APP store, Lion for use on my MacBook Pro.  To upgrade my IMac to Lion, need I make an additional purchase?  If not, how do I facilitate the IMac upgrade?

No, you do not need to re purchase Lion. You can re download Lion on all your authorized Macs using the same Apple ID.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.

Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked Western Drive external hard drive so I can sync to my Mac to my iPhone? I do not want to keep any music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 to itunes match a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

    Hi turingtest2,
Thank you for replying.  I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive.  A bit of background info.  My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work.  I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music).  I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me.  However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders.  Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder.  The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder.  I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel.  I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify:  I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked.  However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.
I'm glad you picked up my message and greatly appreciate your help.
    Patrice
