  • Which bluetooth module for iMac 17" 1.8Ghz

I am trying to decide between two bluetooth modules for a 17" 1.8Ghz iMac. So far I have found part number 922-6201 and 922-6530. They look similar but I have been unable to find any explicit documentation that mentions the correct part.
    Can anyone help me out?
    JT
Also feel free to reach me on ichat: jasontm1

According to the information here those part numbers are interchangeable and are really the same card.
It is really odd that on that page it states:
    Description
Add BlueTooth to your iMac G5 17" & 20" Mac with this Apple part.
But then does not include any iMac G5 in the compatibility information:
    Compatibility
Power Mac G5, eMac (USB 2.0), iMac (17-inch Flat Panel, 1GHz), iMac (USB 2.0), Power Mac G4 (FW 800), Power Mac G5 (June 2004), Power Mac G5 (June 2004), Power Mac G5 (Late 2004), Mac mini**.

  • Can you send files via bluetooth from a imac to an ipad mini

Just purchased an ipad mini and was wanting to transfer some pictures via bluetooth from my Imac to my Ipad mini? Is this possible?
They are paired but when it goes to transfer files, it says connection lost. Is there another way of transfering files from the computer to the ipad mini?
    Any help is much appreciated.

No, Bluetooth on the iPad is aimed at devices such as keyboards and heapphones : supported Bluetooth profiles.
You can sync photos to the iPad via your comptuer's iTunes. Connect and select your iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (with iTunes 11 you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders/albums to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
There are also third-party iPad apps such as Simple Transfer which allow you to copy photos to (and from) the iPad via your wifi network.
For documents you can use the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

  • Sony MDR-1RBT headphones have crackling or pops in audio when using bluetooth on my iMac - Mountain Lion

I notice crackling noise or pops when I listen to music using my Sony MDR-1RBT bluetooth headphones with my 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 iMac running  OSX 10.8.5
I do not hear the crackling when I listen to the headphones using my MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 with OSX 10.8.5
I also do not hear the crackling when using wired connection to the headphones.
So it would seem that something with the Bluetooth on the iMac is the problem. But I have no idea how to troubleshoot this further.
Does anyone have any ideas what the cause may be?
I am pretty sure that it is not interference from another device because I can connect to my MacBook Pro in the same area as my iMac with no crackling

    Hi Michael Erb1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  It may also be worth resetting the NVRAM of your iMac to see if that helps with the crackling:

  • Connecting JBL bluetooth speaker to iMac

Hi,  I just purchased a JBL Charge and want to connect it to my iMac desktop.  However, my iMac cannot find the JBL Charge in Bluetooth set up.  It doesn't list the JBL in the discovered devices.  I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1.  I have no problem connecting to my MacBook Air, iPad, or iPhone.  But I want to connect to my iMac to avoid downloading music to the other devices.  Has anyone else seen this?  Is there a fix?  Thanks for your help.

    Hello billdelaney8,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're not able to pair your JBL Charge with your iMac, but you can pair it with your other devices.
Start with these troubleshooting tips to troubleshoot the bluetooth connection on your iMac:
Bluetooth Quick Assist - Apple Support
    Check your device's system requirements
Make sure that your computer meets your Bluetooth device's system requirements—visit the device manufacturer's website for details.
    Check for a Bluetooth update
To check for new software, choose Software Update from the Apple menu (make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet). If newer Apple Bluetooth software exists, Software Update will prompt you to install it. To install an update, select the checkbox next to the software name and then click Install.
    Reduce potential signal interference
Because Bluetooth works by transmitting signals through the air, some things can interfere with connections. Avoid situations in which metal objects come between your device and computer. Don't put your computer under a metal desk or in a metal cabinet. Keep your computer away from cordless phone base stations, microwave ovens, and other electrical devices that operate on a 2.4 GHz bandwidth. Make sure that your device and computer aren't more than 30 feet apart from each other.
    Restart your computer
Sometimes a simple restart of your Mac is all it takes to get things running smoothly again. You may also want to try resetting your computer's PRAM and NVRAM.
    Reset your Bluetooth device
Try turning your device off and then on again. If that doesn't resolve the issue, see if you can reset your device—refer to the documentation that came with your device for instructions.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • Aluminum Cordless Keyboard Loses Bluetooth Connectivity to iMac 24" 2.4ghz

I sent my keyboard that came with my iMac back to  for a replacement it was a
cordless Aluminum Keyboard it would lose it's connection with my iMac's BT
or did the iMac lose it's Bluetooth ?
I now have a new keyboard same type cordless Aluminum and it's doing the
same thing I will go to the BT Menu Bar and it says
no BT items connected I've Zapped the P-ram
repaired permissions, unchecked for Bluetooth to wake
computer in Energy settings and I've read where a clean install
doesn't help. Has anyone figured this out as I don't believe this
started happening until the 10.5.2 update
_I have installed all updates and Firmware updates also._
*iMac 24" 2.4ghz, USB Epson V350 Scanner and Epson R380 Printer USB*
*2 external HD's attached, Logitech VX Revolution Mouse*

*to this iMac with a 802.11n Base Station as my*
*wireless Router with 3 HD's USB connected to via*
    *a Powered Hub..*

I called  on 4.23.08 and they are saying
that my iMac 24" 2.4ghz may have a bad or
loose BT Connection inside of the iMac itself
they are sending me a USB Keyboard for my trouble
and they told me to take my iMac into a  Retailer
to have it checked out to see if indeed that my
iMac's BT chip is loose or is bad so that is the route
I'm going to take and I greatly appreciate all the help
and to answer about the Sharing Bluetooth hasn't been on
on this Mac ever so I know that isn't the problem
I threw the BT Preferences away but that didn't help either
hope we can find out what's going on..!
I will leave this discussion open until I take
my iMac for service and if the BT is bad on the iMac
or is loose that would explain it if not we will
keep digging until we find out something...!

  • Different Bluetooth on Aluminium imac 10.5.5 vs white intel imac 10.4.10?

I cant seem to connect via bluetooth for file transfers on my new 24" imac, but had no probs with my 17" intel imac, or my 2.16 black book. Both machines are running 10.4.10 & the new aluminum 24" is running 10.5.5

Try using System Profiler (Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info...) to examine the Bluetooth situation on each computer. Click on the Bluetooth item under the Hardware item in the column on the left. That will tell you the Bluetooth software version, enabled state, etc.

  • Bluetooth not working iMac and Samsung phone

I tried connecting my wife's samsung phone with iMac throught bluetooth.
They are paired, but when I tried to use the function "browse device" or something like that on iMac so that I can transfer files from Samsung phone to iMac, the connection keep dropping after 1 second.
When I tried going to the phone and choose a file to send over to iMac, it works. After sending the file, the connection "disconnect" again.
    How to solve this problem?
    Thanks.

hi mate, sorry to hear of your problems. in this case, you will need to liaise with Nokia in your country directly regarding the warranty and issues you have been having with your local Nokia Care outlet.

  • Bluetooth Problem between iMac and phone

I'm trying to send a photo off of my phone (a Samsung G600) to my iMac but I'm having problems. My phone can find the iMac, however whenever I try to send something to it it says "connection failed" on the phone. No prompt comes up on the computer at all.
Also, my iMac finds my phone. If I go on "browse files", I can see all the folders on my phone, but no individual files.
Anyone know a solution to this? It's annoying not being able to use my iMac's Bluetooth. Thanks.

    Hey there,
Make sure you have Bluetooth sharing turn on in the Sharing System Preferences pane on your mac.
If that doesn't help, try removing the bluetooth device and re-pairing it with your mac to see if that helps.
Lastly, try deleting the bluetooth preference while, which is com.apple.bluetooth.plist. located at /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your iMac. See if that makes a difference.
    Hope this helps.

  • Internal Bluetooth on original iMac G5

Is it possible to add one internally? Sometime before I bought the iMac, I seem to remember reading that Bluetooth couldn't be added after market. I know there are USB devices, but I'd rather save the port.

It can be done, but not very cost effective. Next time it's in for a warranty repair see if they will install one. Expect a nominal labor charge and the cost of the parts (Bluetooth card and antenna). I would second the dongle idea as suggested before- Try the D-Link model DBT-120. Be sure to do the firmware update so it will wake from sleep.

  • Trouble sync-ing bluetooth device with imac

I can't sync a Bluetooth Go-Groove headset with my MacBook.
    The iMac is running 10.6.8.
The device is formally GOgroove AudioActive Wireless Hands-Fee Bluetooth Sports Stereo Earbud Headset for Motorola/Samsung/LG/iPhone/HTC and More A2DP Enabled Smartphones.
I've called the company which makes it.  They have no answer.
I've followed all the troubleshooting advice, including eliminating interference.  It doesn't make a difference.
What is weird is the following.  1. It used to work with this MacBook.  2. It currently works with my iMac running 10.6.8.
Any thoughts of what to do next?

When the sync aborts, what message do you get?
How are you connecting - via USB cable or bluetooth?
Can you post the version of PCSuite you have installed?  For PC Suite issues, there's a different forum - you may want to search/post there.
    Good luck.
