Rule for deleting blank emails

So I get maybe 20 blank emails a day -- spam that I assume is checking to see whether my address is bouncing email or not. No sender, no subject, no content.
I'd love to set up a rule that blows the email away upon receipt, maybe also sending a bounce back? In any case, I can't figure out how to decribe blank or null in the the sender field. Is there some code that mail will understand as null that I can use?
Thanks,
j

Don't waste your time using the Bounce feature for spam. Since spammers don't provide a valid sending or return email address, the only thing you will get for your efforts is a returned undeliverable message for each bounced message.
I created a "Ghost" spam rule in Mail.
I named my rule "Ghost" Spam.
If any of the following conditions are met:
Select From and Does not contain from the pop-up menus and enter @ in the space provided.

  • Rules sending out blank email

I have a rule set up in the following way:
If any of the following conditions are met
    subject contains "blank"
    subject contains "blank"
    Move message to mailbox "blank"
    Reply to message with "blank"
and it seems to be working fine. the problem is that a day or two later a blank email is being sent to those whose emails have been moved to the mailbox and haven't been answered yet. Some have received 2 or more of these blank emails.
how can I stop this or why is it happening?
    thanks

    Hi RArriaga,
According to your description, you want to create a subscription, then you can send the corresponding purchase order report to each user, right?
In your scenario, you can create a parameter which can filter the report based on different users. Then you can create a table in the database which contains email address and corresponding report parameter values. When you create the data driven subscription,
you could specify value of “To” from the table and report parameters with [Parameters] field. Please refer to screenshots below:

  • Can not delete Blank emails, iPad

My friend can not delete this empty emails.
has someone seen this before ??
    http://www.finncraft.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/image.png

There have been posts about it in the page. Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't fix it then try closing the Mail app via the taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third-option if the above two don't fix it is a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Gesture for deleting email?

Is there a gesture for deleting an email message in Lion?  I wish you could swipe to delete an email like on the iPhone...

Only gesture I know is righthand-forwardto-delete key

  • Is it possible to have 2 mail programmes on my macbook pro? one for business related emails and one personal. I dont want all the emails in one mail programme!

Is it possible to have 2 mail programmes on my macbook pro? one for business related emails and one personal. I dont want all the emails in one mail programme. At the moment i have 2 personal email address being sent to my mail but because of receiving huge numbers of work emails it would be good to keep them seperate, what is the best way of doing this?

if i use the one mail programme can it separate the incoming mail from the different email accounts into 2 folders without me having to do it manually?
Yes, you can.  Nearly all email software can do this.  It involves creating two folders and a Rule for each folder.
Maybe call one folder Personal Mail, the other Work Mail (Apple Mail calls folders Mailboxes).  One Rule would route all mail from your personal email account into the Personal Mail folder; the other Rule would route all mail from your work email account into the Work Mail folder.  It's actually easy to do, all you have to do is click a few things and the rule is set up.  Once the Rule is written you can also apply it to existing messages already downloaded to your Mac.
In Apple Mail, Rules are under Preferences > Rules.  Follow the prompts to create a rule like this:
    If = Any
Account = my Personal account (select the name of your personal email account)
Perform the following actions: Move Message to Mailbox = my Personal Mail (select the name of your Personal Mail folder (aka mailbox))
This rule says,  "take any message that comes in from my Personal Account and move it to my Personal Mail mailbox (folder)"
Create a similar rule for your Work email.

  • How to set up rules for emails to go to junk on iphone 4

i have an iphone4 that i use for work and a coworker sent out over 40,000 emails which has now overloaded my email to where i cannot send or recieve emails can i set up rules for his emails to go straight to junk? and how my email address is linked to iphone4s and ipad as well.
ps i did set up the rules on my desktop but it didnt seem to work or flow over to the iphone or ipad or maybe i just need to delete the emails? however theres literally 30,000 of them who do i do that quickly? please

The Mail app on the iPhone doesn't support filters. You'd need to do that on the server side (not desktop). There is just no quick way to delete 30,000 emails.  At this point, I would remove the email account from your phone, delete the offending emails from your account, then add the account back to the iPhone.
I would also report the co-worker to your IT department (if they haven't already noticed) for sending that many emails. I'm surprised that it didn't cause issues.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I create a rule to delete old unread email?

I thought this would be easy to set up, but I can't find the right parameters in the Rules setting of Mail. I want to create a rule that deletes emails that remain unread after a period of time like 3-6 months. Can someone tell me how to set this up? Do I need to set it up separately for each email account? Thanks!

After deleting from a smart mailbox you need to use the Mailbox ➙ Erase Deleted Items menu option:

  • I am unable to delete an email account/profile in the settings for Mail/Contacts/etc.

I have 3 email accounts and on 2 of them there is the "Delete Account" red button at the bottom, but for one of them it is not an option. This particular account that I am trying to remove was installed using the iOS setup tool from GoDaddy.com, which is the host for my work email. These were the instructions I was asked to follow to setup the IMAP account on my iPad:
    1. Go to the GoDaddy website (full site) in Safari
    2. Type "Apple" in search bar top right.
    3. Select "Automatically Setting up Email on Your Apple Mobile Device"
    4. Select "Email InfoCenter"
    5. Type in my email and password.
    6. In email info center, select "Auto Setup fo iOS"
    7. In the popup, there is a link in bold letters, select that and copy it, then paste it into your Safari address field at the top and go to that site.
    8. Follow instructions and type in your password to validate.
This installs your IMAP account on your iPhone or iPad automatically. So when you go to Mail, it is there as an option.
The problem is that I can't figure out how to delete it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I found this link for a similar problem someone had with a Lotus Notes account. I used it to resolve my issue with a different email account (basically followed the same steps, and then looked for the particular account I needed to delete)... hope it helps!

  • Deleted the email attached to old Apple Acc & forget password. Still registered to my iPod? How do I use a new Apple ID in App Store for my iPod?

I have deleted the email address attached to my Apple ID. I know what the email address is but it is non-existant. I thought I remembered the password but apparently it is incorrect? When I go to the App Store on my iPod and click my account to try and sign out. It does nothing and the button is faded out. When I try to download a free app it asks for the password for the old account with a deleted email attached to it. How do I sign out of this account on my iPod so I can sign in to another Apple ID to download apps?

    - Go to settings>Store and sign out and sign into another account.
    NOTE:
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
Try recovering access to your account by using the secret question methosd
How do I change or recover a forgotten Apple ID Password?
If you've forgotten your Apple ID Password or want to change it, go to My Apple ID and follow the instructions. SeeChanging your Apple ID password if you'd like more information.
    Then
I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

    Hello farahani hairon nizar,
If your Apple ID was changed from your old account, you may have to change it back to your old account to be able to sign out and then change it back after that is done. Take a look at the article below for more information.

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

My husband and I share an email address and if he misses a day checking email on his notebook, he doesn't receive the items that I have sent to Trash on my iPad Mini.
    Appreciate suggestions.
[The curious thing is, if I "move" the deleted emails from Trash on my iPad Mini into the Inbox, I can go to my notebook, open my online email and they are back in my ATT/Yahoo Inbox.]

  • Deleting all emails for 1 of 2 email accounts in the Message area

    Background:
I do not have Blackberry Enterprise ServerI have 2 email accounts setup on my Blackberry Pearl 8130:
1 personal Yahoo account and 1 work account
Everything works fine, I receive email for both accounts, all is good.  Except that I get 200+ emails a day on my work account!I do not want to go in and delete work emails one by one or in groups  The lowest number of days I can choose to choose in General Options -> Keep Messages is 15 days (and it looks like that is an overall setting, I would like 2 days for my work account and 3 months for my personal account which is a whole other question)
So, I deleted my work account from the Email Settings thinking that all emails linked to the work email account would ‘go away’, then I will just recreate the account later.  BUT all the emails are still in the Messages area, all 1500+ work emails that I want to get rid of.
Question:How can I, without going 1 by 1 or in groups of emails, have all the emails in the Messages area deleted that are for a specific email account?I do want and need to keep my personal email on my phone so I can’t just in and “Delete Prior” as it will delete my personal emails that I need to keep on my phone
    Any thoughts?
Or does it matter if at some point I end up with 10K emails?  I'm not sure.
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Since you can't do a Delete Prior, the only other options is to hold down the SHIFT button (lower left button, may look like aA) to scroll and select groups of emails to delete. There isn't a way to only show emails from a certain group to delete. You can either delete all at once, Delete Prior by the date, or select groups of messages.

  • My IPhone 4's mailing feature does not display the toolbar at the bottom for deleting, moving, or writing emails. What is wrong with it?

My work recently decided to buy every full time employee an IPhone 4 to be used for work purposes. (I do suspect these are refurbished, but I don't think that matters) I have had no trouble with it, except for on occasion the mailing feature does not display the toolbar at the bottom for deleting, moving, or writing emails. You know what I'm talking about...that bar at the bottom of the mailbox when you open an email that you use to delete, respond, forward, move, etc. It just goes away for no reason, and then reappears for a day or two, and goes away again. It is quite annoying since I can't respond to any of my emails without getting on my work computer. If you have any suggestions, please help!

    Hi there,
You may need to force close the Mail application when this happens. The next time this happens, use the steps in the article below to coles out of the mail application.

  • Hi, my icloud says i have used 2.5GB for email. i want to delete the emails, but they do not show up to delete?

Hi. My icloud storage says I am using 2.5GB for email. I would happily delete all the emails, but very few show up to be deleted. How do I delete all emails on the account (that appear to be hiding in the background somewhere). Thanks

Hi, thank you, but this is where I go to delete all emails (done) but my icloud storage data still claims I am using 2.5GB under the email category. Is there a 'reset' option to clear icloud usage? Thanks
