Rule Generated vacation messgae timeout question

Hello all,
We have a user that wants to set up a Vacation Rule that will send the "Vacation Message" once a day to every user.
Currently, GroupWise 802 seems to generate the Vacation Message only once per user, until the rule goes away.
I cannot determine a time out. It is longer than one week.
So, the complaint is, remote users do not know or remember that she is out of the office if they do not receive
consistent "Vacation Messages", at least once per week, but ideally, once per day.
I cannot find this setting or "feature" documented anywhere.
(It looks like version 7 added this feature to not reply to Every message)
I rather not open a case with Novell over this, but our user is very insistent.
Thanks all,
Brian

Add Subject contains * to the rule conditions, that should force a reply
to every message.

  • Rule-generated messages on GWIA - Allow replies

Last year on Friday before the week of July 4, we had a user create a vacation rule and she checked "Reply to External Users." She had listed her work email at her apartment complex. Right after she left work that day, her apartment complex emailed her saying the office would be closed for the week of the 4th. Her rule replied that she was on vacation, the apartment complex replied the office would be closed... and you get the picture. When she got back, she had received 80,000 emails and had sent 80,000 emails. We turned off "Allow replies" on Rule-generate message but now some would like it turned back on. Is there a way to prevent a loop such as this? If so - how? Thanks! Susan

    * susan1525,
not really. If you allow replies to the internet and a user creates a silly rule including "subject contains *", this may happen again. If the rule doesn't contain that statement, the reply rule should fire only once per sender until disabled and enabled again.
I allow rule generated messages to the internet to very few users for that reason.

  • Prevent rule-generated messages to certain host

    Hi,
maybe someone has an good idea for our challenge.
We want to suppress the rule-generated messages from GroupWise but not depending on who sends it, but on who receives it.
    Why?
Because we are on the way to enable Vibe Email reception but we don't want the vacation messages to be sent to Vibe (different internal domain, so the mails will pass GWIA and there be routed via route.cfg to the vibe server).
All thought / ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mathias

    Hi Mathias,
Gosh - using Class of Service never even occurred to me! Pity that it's not flexible enough for your needs

  • Rule-Generator Adapter is not being triggered

I have created a rule-generator adapter and assigned it to pre-insert and pre-update of a process form (mapped the return value to process form field) but the system does not trigger the adapter when I add the resource to user. Any ideas why this happens?
    Regards,
    Kostas

I tried with an entity adapter but the effect is the same (restarted the server). It looks like the system does trigger the pre-insert and pre-update events. Any ideas?

  • Populating a field using rule generator adapter

    Hi
How a form field is populated using Rule Generator Adapter. And what we should do if we want the same field do not appear in the form, though it's value should be participate in task(create user update user etc).

Prepopulate Adapter and Rule Generator Adapter

  • Prepopulate Adapter and Rule Generator Adapter

Can anyone tell me the exact difference between Prepopulate adapter and Rule generator adapter? I have read the documentation but both seems to be same.
Please explain me with an example scenario..
    Regards
    Pavan

    Hi,
See if this help you in gaining more understanding.
PrePopulate Adapter: They are mapped with the fields of process form and are used to prepopulate the fields value during the resource provisioning.
RG Adapter: A RG Adapter incoporates business rules to the fields of either OIM user form or user defined form so that these fields can be automatically populated
and saved to the database. You can use the RG & Entity Adapter to construct the userid from the firstname and lastname fields and prepopulate it.
    Difference:
While both these adapter can be used to prepopulate values but RG Adapter has one to one mapping with the RG adapter and custom field. An RG Adapter once
attached to a field cannot be attached with another field thus preventing adapter reuse. Beside this, no other type of adapter can be associated with that custom
field. In contrast, the PrePopulate adapter can be reused and attached with multiple fields.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Rule generator adapter

    hi,
Please explain me whats the use of rule generator adapter where entity adapter and prepopulate adapter does all the functions of a rule generator.
i have gone through the docs but it doesnt explain the difference.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cat's Paw

You are correct in stating the functionality of the oim adapter types is overlapping. The documentation describes the recommended classification types of the adapters while you can achieve the same functionality by creating some other adapter type in similar fashion.
I would suggest you to use the recommended approach as mentioned in the documentation.

  • Clean Access arp-timeout question

In the process of getting Wake on LAN working so our support team can push packages at night, another engineer and myself got into a discussion about NAC and arp-timeout values.
For us this is relevant, as we are unable to do directed broadcast WoL due to the MPLS cloud we are part of, so we are looking at unicast for our WoL system. However, if the apr-timeout value is too low on our switches, they will have "forgotten" about the MAC addresses of the various computers attached to them by the time that we are pushing packages.
I have read through everything that I can find, and to me it appears that the arp-timeout value is irrelevant with regards to NAC, which uses SNMP Traps to figure out what's going on with each switch / device. The opposing viewpoint is you need to crank down the arp-timeout value pretty low in order for NAC to work correctly.
In other words, I want to crank the arp-timeout up to 7 hours, he wants it down at 20 minutes.
I'm not worried about 7 hours being too long, as our environment is almost completely desktop based, so we don't have very much of an issue with computers being moved around.
Anyone have any insight into this?
    Thanks,
    Andras

    thanks for your reply.
please i have another question, if we integrate the NAC appliance with AD (enabling AD SSO feature) , will we need to do Mapping Rules on the CAM server or not ???

  • Session Timeout Question in EME

If I login to eManager Web and instead of logging out I just close the browser will I be logged out? Will the license be released? What is the session timeout for this and is it possible to set this value?

If you close the browser in e-Manager Enterprise Web instead of logging out there is a TimeOut that will release your license. This can be seen and is reported on in the e-Manager logs. By default the session TimeOut value is 30 minutes. You can find this and/or change this value by opening "<installdir>\Empirix\EmpAppServer\server\default\deploy\jbossweb-tomcat55.sar\conf\web.xml" in a notepad. Once the file is open, go the the ?Default Session Configuration? Section. Here you can change the TimeOut value. You will then need to save the file and restart the Empirix Application Service. The idle sessions are retired after the specified timeout is reached and the licenses are also checked upon this value. I hope this answers your questions.

  • Business Rules or Form Refresh timeout - SmartView

    Hi,
We have users using Smartview which get the following error: "The request timed out. Contact your admistrator ro increase netRetryCount and netRetryInterval." It appear that everytime a user execute a business rule or refresh a form, if the business rule or the form takes more than a minute to complete, the user will get the timeout error. If it is only few seconds to run, then the user will not get the timeout error.
We use Hyperion Planning 9.2.0. Is this something to do with the setting in HBRServer.properties? We have the following settings at this moment:
    HBR.maxconn=20
    HBR.timeout=30000
    HBR.catalog=HYPSVR01
    #embedded server timeout in minutes
    #HBR.embedded_timeout=10
    #HBR.css_refresh=30
    HBR_APP_NAME=orclrddb01
    PLUGIN_DATA_REFRESH_RATE=30000
    ====
Could anyone advise the meaning of the above entries or where can I get the information about the entries?
Do we need to use: HBR.embedded_timeout or HBR_DB_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT setting?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Lian

    Hi John,
    Thanks for the reply.
As advised by Hyperion, we add :8300 (port number)
into the smartview connection string, this appear to have solve the problem, e.g.

  • Mail Rules vs Vacation for reply

I found the mobileme mail vacation preference and tested it. It will only reply one time to each sender, & I want it to continue to reply to each sender for each email received until I remove it.
Can I use the Add Rules preference to do this??
I am reluctant to experiment with this until I get some advice. Seems that if I could do this with Rules, they wouldn't need the Vacation preference.
    Thanks for your replies.

    Thanks for your replies.
My advice, FWIW, is to not set it up to reply to every email from each sender. What if a spammer sends multiple emails? Do you want to participate in clogging the net by responding to every spam email? And speaking of spammers, why send them any notification that you are on vacation? Why don't you set up a rule to only respond to known domains/senders? What about list serves or email subscriptions you belong to. List users do not want their lists to be flooded with your vacation notices.
Most email vacation notices are set to only notify a sender once. The notification includes a return date. What is the purpose of telling the same sender multiple times that you are on vacation?

  • RFComm timeout question

    Hi,
I'm developing an app that uses RFComm (JSR-82) to transfer data between my PC and cell phones.
The data transfer is working fine.
The problem is that, some times, Connector.open(<URL>) freezes my cell phones for some seconds before give me error when isn't possible to connect to my RFComm server.
    Two questions about it:
    1. Is it possible to control or to change the connection timeout using J2ME?
    2. Using a thread on my J2ME app, could I shutdown the bluetooth connection after N seconds? This way I could try to connect again before the default J2ME timeout.
    Regards,
    Alexandre.

If there is a possibility that part of your code could crash because of an error or exception, then you should catch it and handle it in an elegant fashion suitable to you. Looking at the API, it doesn't seem possible to specify the timeout, So upon throwing a BluetoothConnectionException, try to reconnect up to a number of times you would like.

  • Dinamically Generate PDF File - Design Question

    Hello there,
I'd like to dinamically generade a PDF file but because I've never done that before I have some design / structure questions.
The workflow I imagine works as follows.
    1. I created a new menu item with which a new Page is created. Idealy I would be able to generate the title and the subtitles of that new page already.
    2. The user imports other pdf documents to the newly created page and annotates stuff.
    3. The first page is then dynamically extended with the information from the annotated stuff.
I already found a code sample in the Adobe SDK that I think is usefull. My question is how to structue the PDF file I'm generating. Is it a good idea to store every subtitle-category within a PDEContent element and then add the PDEText elements to it? Is it possible to add textfields, this is form elements too? Or, would it be possible to use a template for the basic structure that can be dinamically extended at runtime?
I hope this description was understandable and I'm looking forward to your sugestions.

You need to do some research on PDF first to understand how PDF works - both standard page content as well as the various Forms capabilities.  Then, armed with that knowledge, you need to evaluate the PDFs that users will be importing as well as the final document presentation & functionality that you desire.
Then you'll have a design that we can comment on how to implement...

  • Vacation accrual balance question

    Hi,
We have a requirement to show accruals in days but the absence hours can be multiples of 4. For that, I have defined absence element with input as hours and accrual plan with units as hours. This is working fine but the vacation net entitlement is shown in hours. Is there a way to enter absences in multiples of 4 but show final entitlement in days?
Another question is, is there a way to default normal hours to all employees as 08:00 to 17:00? If I am entering absence from 28-Nov-2012 08:00 to 29-Nov-2012 12:00, the system is calculating it as 28 hours instead of 12 hours. If I enter normal hours in employees assignment as 08:00 to 17:00, then the formula is calculating it as 12 hours. so I want to default the normal hours to all the employees without having to update the formula.
    Please help..
    Thanks

    Hi Jay,
#1. If you enter the Absences in Hours, the entitlement will also be shown in hours (Unless you create a custom form and use custom code to deduce the days).
Another way is to define the absences in Days, and use 1/2 day (0.5 day) instead of 4 hours.
#2. You can default the starting, ending times and hours worked at the Business Group level or HR-ORG level. This would default the hours on all person-assignments.
Absences are calculated based on -
    -Work Schedules
    -Work Patterns
-Standard working hours on Assignment form
in the same order depending on profiles - HR: Schedule Based Absence Calculation etc..
    Cheers,
    Vignesh
