  • How to reuse an existing Rule Composer DC from within a BPM DC

    Hi,
We have several business process need to share same rule to determine the approver. We used separate BRM (ie Rule Composer DC) DC with decision table to contain the rule data. We want to reuse the rule dc from our process dc (BPM dc).
We do not want to embed the same rule/decisiontable  into each bpm dc. We do not want to use Web Service (via automatic activity) to call out the existing rule because it mix new activity into our BPMN. But I cannot find a way to use the existing rule via "expression/EJB/Mapping function".
Can anyone let me know the way to use external (existing) Rule dc ?
    thanks

    Stefan,
    Thanks for your prompt reply.
Before my first post, I have did what exactly you mentioned on the DC dependency setting. However no luck to me.
All my works are currently for a test and are created in my local SC (WilsonComponent SC in my NWDS). Both the bpm (rule user) and brm (rule provider) DCs are in the same SC. In my bpm DC, explicit dependency is set to the brm dc, with def_comp (compilation) dependency at runtime, deploy time, and design time.
After the setting, I rebuild the bpm, reload the metadata, and lots of other trying. But I still cannot find a way to see the brm rules in the bpm dc project.
Is it only work for track-based SC (need to check-in to NWDI) ? or is there any other configuration (like lib referencing) need to be done ?
I do believe SAP provides reusability via the SC/DC dependency, but just can't make it work. If you did it before, let me know, then the question will turn out to be my own implementation issue.

  • CE 7.2 trial - Rules Composer not available

I downloaded the trial version CE 7.2, updated it, but there is no SAP perspective visible, like Rules Composer, WebDynpro etc.
How can they be added? Does the trial version need special authorization?

    Hi Michael,
have you downloaded the required plugins from the NWDS update site? When installing the NWDS, you only get the basic platform. You have to run the update manager in order to install the full developer studio.

  • Cannot find Business Rule Composer!

    Hi All,
I was able to install Biztalk Server 2006 R2 successfully on Vista. But I am unable to see 'Business Rule Composer (BRC)' when I follow the below steps:
Start >> All Programs >> Microsoft Biztalk Server 2006 >> (Business Rule Composer)....not able to find this!!!
I even checked in Biztalk server 2006 configuration window and can see all the components (alongwith BRC) with green check mark. Please help me on how & from where to open it. Thanks in advance.
    Nitya.

    Hurraaaayyyyyy!!!!!  Its done now.
    Ben Cline:
I checked for the exe within the path you specified but I did not find it.
    Kent Weare:
I have checked in SQL Server for "BiztalkRuleEngineDb", it was already there, configured.
    Richard C S:
When I tried to modify the installation, I found that the Business Rule Composer(BRC) checkbox was unselected. I selected that box and proceeded further, It was all installed properly.
Many thanks to you all for your valuable inputs. Microsoft forum simply ROCKS!!! :-)
A question to you all, if I missed selecting BRC during my initial installation, then how come it was showing as configured in Biztalk server 2006 configuration window and also the "BiztalkRuleEngineDb" in Sql server???

  • Question in Creating the Rules Composer DC

    Hi All,
I am new to Business Rules Management. I am trying to create a new rules composer DC but in the second step , when I am trying to select a software component, it says the software component does not support the selected development component type and am unable to proceed from here.
Please could someone help me out with this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sushanth Hulkod

    Hi Sushanth,
That's odd. In the development 'Development Infrastructure' perspective (Windows -> Open Perspective), select your software component and click on the 'DC Types' tab on the right to make sure 'Rules Composer' is one fo the supported DC types. When you first create a SC all DC are selected for dependencies. Did you uncheck them when you created your SC? Just created a rules composer DC on CE 7.2 SP3 without any problems.

  • BizTalk 2010 Business Rule Composer possible bug...

****Initially i thought of writing this request, but I figured out what is the issue***********
When I am trying to access the business rule composer from the developer machine where the SQL server is configured on a customer domain, I am unable to use the Business Rule Composer.
I am using runas /netonly /user:<user id> to run the business rule composer so that I can pass the customer domain credentials.
The network credentails are successfully sent to the SQL server and I could see all the databases in the business rule composer dropdown.
But when I try to connect, i get an error saying "MachineName value <server>\<instance>, <port> is invalid"
when I try the same connection from a machine which is within the SQL server's domain it connects successfully (But i still get above error message, but it connects)
It seems there is a bug in the business rule composer GUI! and its related to network issue.
my colleague who is on the domain, doesnt gets this error message and he could able to connect successfully.
not sure what is causing the issue. any insight?!
its nothing to do with the network, domain...all systems has same issue when i check the "Start server if it is stopped" checkbox on the open rule store dialague.
I wont get the same issue in my local machine installation (where everything is local installation), but my development server installation has this issue.
Please let me know if anyone has same issue and what is causing this error?! is it the user dont have access to start the sql service?!
    Thanks,
    Suresh

    Hey Suresh,
Did this same configuration work on BizTalk 2009? Sorry, I had not tried this before.
I would be glad to report the issue on the BizTalk 2010 Connect site. I know someone else reported an issue with the Business Rule Composer although I am not aware of any changes made to this tool for the BizTalk 2010 release.
    Thanks,

  • No Process composer in NWDS

    Hi all,
I want to create my first BPM program, however, after I install the NWDS, there is no procress comproser in the Perspective. Also, there are no any BPEM Software Component inside. How can I add it back to the software? I am using SAP Netweaver 7.1 Composition Environment SP08 PAT0000. Please help!

    Hi,
I am using SAP Netweaver 7.1 Composition Environment SP08 PAT0000. Please help!
SAP NetWeaver BPM (Process Composer) is available with the SAP enhancement package 1 for SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 and i believe u are uisng CE 7.1 thatsy u are not able to find the Process composer perpective.
u can cownload the EHP 1, from the below link to model process using BPM .

  • How to create rules in business rule composer?

    for
    1.Id type cannot be null
2.Id type = Identity Card then
Insured_Id length should  equal to 13.

    Create a new
    version of vocabulary.
Right click on vocabulary to create a new definition.
Select the appropriate type of definition. May be in your case it from Xml Document Element or Attribute
    Create another definition for
Insured_Id length. I assume it’s an element name to which you want to set the value as 13. Not that you want to set the property- length of the element to
    Insured_Id.
    Publish the
    vocabulary.
Then create a condition as similar to the image shown below.
Also I would recommend you to go through the BRE-tutorial to learn about creating
    vocabulary and rules.

  • Process Composer in NWDS

    Hi

In the trail version I do not find the Process composer wizard .
Is the Process composer installed as a seperate plugin ?

  • BPM process and BRM rules process in same development component in NWDS

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create the BPM process and BRM rules process in the same development component in NWDS?
I tried but whenever we create it,say, first ly for BPM,that is File-New-Project-Development Component-Process Composer
While once this development component is created I try to create rules composer in the same composer by right clicking on local development component as well as process composer but ther is no option of creating /calling rules composer/rules modeling.
Can you please guide me creating both BPM process and BRM rules composer/rules modeling in the same development component if its possible?
    Thanks in advance

Open your project explorer and expand the BPM project you have created. Locate a folder named "Rules" in the Project Tree. Right-click on the Rules folder and select 'Create new rule'. You can model your rules such as rule-scripts here and use it in the BPM.
Note: These rules cannot be used outside the BPM Project.

  • Download runtime version of rule used and create in bpm process

    Dear experts,
does anybody know, if there is a possibility of updating used brm rules used in a bpm process? There seems to be a way, when you create a separate brm project:
Importing an Updated Project into the Rules Composer - Working with the Rules Manager - SAP Library
How does this work for rules coming from bpm?
Do i really have to manually export and import things e. g. over excel for this?
    Regards,
    Markus

    Dear Siddhant,
thanks a lot for your reply. You got it perfectly right.
What do you mean with "always points to the updated rules"?
Do you mean, that using the "Download runtime version" feature on the brm project helps us to keep the rule up-to-date within NWDS?
    Regards,
    Markus

  • NWDS on Parallels

    Hello,
Has anyone successfully set up NWDS on a Mac?
I am trying to run NWDS on my MacbookPro using Windows 7 running on Parallels. I have installed it and downloaded all the updates from the SAP site, and it gave no errors while installing. I can see all the proper perspective such as the Process Composer, Rules Composer, etc.
But now when I try to import a sample application sca from SDN, it gives the following error:
Cannot update build status of DC <u2026>. DC not found in model.
A lot of the standard DCs seem to be empty. Additionally, when I try to create a new DC, all the special SAP DC types (Web Dynpro, Process Composer, etc) are grayed out. when selected, the system displays the following error:
Software Component does not support this Development Component Type. Required DCs are located in an SC that is not visible from the selected SC.
As a control measure, I used the same installation file (and update process) for NWDS on a separate machine, this time a PC running Windows 7. There, the installation works fine and I am not facing any of the above issues.
I am not sure whether my problems are being caused by the underlying Mac platform or the Parallels virtualisation, or both or neither?
Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Manish

Update: Thinking that NWDS is at its core just eclipse, I installed a standard version of eclipse that I downloaded from eclipse.org. Then I copied all the plugins and features from the windows version of NWDS into this version. Now when I start it up I get the following error:
You are running Developer Studio with an unsupported JVM. Click Details for more information. Click OK to locate a supported JVM.
Reason: Your JVM is not supported.
    Details:
Your JVM vendor is not supported.
    Current JVM:
    Apple Inc. JRE 1.6.0_20
    java.home = /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home
    Supported JVMs:
SAP AG JDK: java.version 1.5.0_11 or later
Sun Microsystems Inc. JDK: java.version 1.5.0_11 or later
    Any ideas?

  • Help with getting a node xpath from within the rules engine

I'm new here and to BizTalk.  In the rule composer I've setup my vocabularies and have started implementing rules.
When a rule is evaluated to false I have a custom function called AddValidationError which is attached to the Action section.  This method accepts three parameters, a TTypedXmlDocument containing
the validation errors node, an xpath to the node that was validated and an error code.  AddValidationErrors will append a new ValidationError node to the validation errors node containing the error code, error message, severity, and the xpath of the node
    that was validated.
The issue is that I can't figure out how to get the xpath to the node being validated so that I can pass it to the AddValidationError function.  I have tried defining the xpath parameter as
a TTypedXmlDocument which allows me to pass nodes of type TTypedXmlDocument, from there i can working the xpath but this doesn't allow me to pass nodes of other types, such as String, Int, DateTime, etc.
Basically I want to be able to add the xpath to the node being validated into the validation errors.  I noticed that the Predicate function Exists cal accepts any node from which it resolves
the xpath however I can't figure out how it does this.
Anyway I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction.  How can I pass a node of any type to a function, or get the xpath to node being validated which I can then simply pass
    as a string.
Note that I am aware that I can simply type the xpath or copy it from the node properties window but the rule will be managed by people who are not developers, e.g. BA's or system administrators.
I don't really want to expect them to write an xpath query or piece one together from the node properties.  I also thought that I could add two definition's for each node, one of the value type (String, decimal, DateTime) and another of type TTypedXmlDocument
and pass the TTypedXmlDocument one to the AddValidationError method, which works but its not really ideal.

Can you post the exact issue and what you really need ?
Do you want to create a Vocabulary or Rule with the predicate functions?

  • How to show BPM Reporting values in Visual Composer

    Hi everybody,
i add a Reporting Activity to my current BPM Process. My purpose is to show the report in Visual composer.
Unfortunately i don't know how to import the BPM Reporting Activity into VC?
Could anybody help me with a how-to-guide or a detailed description?
    Best regards,
    Sid

    Hi,
    Helpful information on this topic:
The whole subtree: Performing Process Analytics
Some quotes from the help.sap.com documentation:
Real-time analytics enables you to report against an operational system without using a BW system. Real-time analytics allows reporting on a subset of both generic process data and process context data. When performing real-time analytics, data is consumed and reports are displayed directly in the Visual Composer of the local system.
Reporting data is provided as DataSources to VC and you use the VC BI Kit to display the data.
Discovering BPM DataSources in Visual Composer:
    3. Choose: View -> Task Panel -> Search to search for BPM DataSources. The Search dialog appears.
    4. From the Select provider dropdown menu, select BI Data Sources.
    5. From the System destination dropdown menu, select BI (Sql) Portal.
...but per my understanding, in order to be able to select "BI Data Sources", because all BPM Data Sources can be accessed from this choice only, you need to have BW, and you need to configure the connection between your BPM and BW??
Also, your own custom BPM Data Sources can be created only with the "Reporting Activity" in NWDS, Process Development perspective??
