Rules for importing AND preview mode
At this moment I shoot a mix of JPEG and RAW files.
I have defined two "standard" Develops settings: one for the JPEGs and other for RAWs.
The preview mode only show thumbnails so I can't see what are JPEGs and what are RAWs (the extension is not shown!). I need to apply different Develop settings for JPEGs and RAWs. I need to open a Windows Explorer Window to see what are JPEGs and what are RAWs, then select JPEGs, select the develop setting and Import. Again select RAWs and Import... This makes the import process a bit slow and tedious.
It could be desirable two new features:
1. The preview mode need to show the name + extension of the files beeing imported
2. Rules to define what Develop settings to apply to different kind of files (JPEG & RAW).
This way, I can import JPEGs and RAW in oly one step, with the correct develop settings applied.

Of course I could do that. I could do some pre-import task and some post-import task ... or more that one import process. But I think is better do do all the import work at the beginnig and in only one step.
Another point is that, when you apply a new develop setting to one or more files, LR renders the previews again. So If I import and then apply a develop setting, I'm doing an "extra" rendering (Am I wrong?). I could disable the rendering at import time, and then activate the rendering after the import, but this seems to be a slower process and, also, another extra step.

Hi,
I recently switched from a relatively small drive to a much larger one and had the larger drive taking image of the older drive. All of my older programs are now back up to working but I can still can't burn a CD.
I get the following error message "the registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have reinstalled iTunes a few times and have done soft and hard reboots but still no luck. Any ideas on the simplest way to resolve this matter?

When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message:
"The registry settings used by the I Tunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.
This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please re-install I Tunes."
To my knowledge no new software has been installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing I Tunes but I still
get the same message.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Do I need to download a new driver?
Bill MartinI can get down as far as step 11 but it shows nothing about upper filters and when I type on "If the Upper Filters entry is missing follow these instructions" nothing happens
Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu. -

when i was having trouble with my optical drive(before Dell sent me a new one) the dell tech support representative had me delete some reg. files to try to fix the problem. I was told this would not affect the new drive when i install it or any of my existing programs. here is what he had me do....

how can i get this message box to stop poping up every time i open i tunes? otherwise i tunes works fine. it still rips cd's. I just keep getting this message even after reinstalling i tines.

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. Would that perhaps fix the problem? I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue. I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop. If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

I use an ipod classic 120G. When I try to launch itunes I first of all see a box stating "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes" This I have done. obviously I cannot burn CDs but worse still is my ipod is not being recognised by itunes and will not sync. I have not installed any new burning softeware. I have tried reinstalling mulitple times and it has not helped. I am not aware that any other CD burning softawre being installed.
Also, when I plug in my I-pod another message appears saying
"This Ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
The 64-bit version is already installed and again reinstalling hasn't helped.
