Rules in Mail-can't find

This should be an easy thing. I have been using Entourage on an OS 10.4 machine but now have a new Macbook Pro with Leopard. When I open Mail, I have my emails all setup and can receive and send. I would like to use Rules to label things so I went to Preferences and looked for the Rules tab but I can't find it. Can anyone help? Is this common and if not, is there a way to reinstall Mail to fix it? I'm still a little new to OSX having used XP for years so I'm not sure. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Nevermind...it's there but behind a set of arrows that was grayed out so I thought it was an inactive menu. Duh. Thanks for the help.

  • Mail can not find certificate in key safe

    Hi,
I am using own certificates that work all fine with all pc and iphones and ipads and macs using OS below 10.10 (Yosemite) and 10.10.1.
Since I updated a mac pro to the new OS, mail can sign and encrypt replies to received mail, but can not find the certificate when creating new mails.
An error windows drops from the top in the mail editor window (message can not be signed, no trustworthy certificate could be found):
When mail is started fresh, it shows in the properties a certificate line
Once a new mail was tried to produce with using certificates the TLS line disappears:
I think something is wrong in mail. Any idea?

First, the address associated with the S/MIME public key must exactly match the address to which you're trying to send the encrypted message, or from which you're trying to send a signed message. If the message is both signed and encrypted, both addresses must match. The matching is case-sensitive: "[email protected]" does not match "[email protected]".
The signing and/or encrypting certificates must be valid: not expired, revoked, self-signed, or signed by an unknown CA. You can check the status of the certificate in Keychain Access (see below.)
If you can't encrypt or sign messages to a valid address with a valid certificate, continue.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
              Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ First Aid
If the box labeled Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select Keychain from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
Quit and relaunch Mail. Test. If the problem isn't resolved, continue.
Export all S/MIME certificates, delete them from the keychain, and reimport. For instructions, select
              Help ▹ Keychain Access Help
from the menu bar and search for the term "export" in the help window. Export each certificate as an individual file; don't combine them into one big file.
Test again. If the test fails, delete all the certificates again, then reinstall them from fresh copies.

Apple mail doesn't work (to send messages) on my new 24" iMac while it is working just fine on my old computer with identical settings (pop and smpt). Message is that it can't find smpt or that port 25 is a problem. I worked most of yesterday with both an apple supervisor and also two different techs from my mail provider.

  • Mail can't find IMAP mailboxes after server upgrade from 10.3- 10.4

For the past several years I've been running an IMAP server on my home network to allow me to keep all my mail in synch no matter which of my Macs I'm accessing mail from. (Bernard Teo's Postfix Enabler has been an amazing tool. See: http://cutedgesystems.com/software/PostfixEnabler/ ) Well, since I'm adding a RAID to the backup hardware on the same server later in the week, I decided to finally upgrade the server from Panther to Tiger. I can send and receive mail just fine. (I upgraded to MailServer from the site listed above.) However, all of my IMAP folders other than the associated inboxes have vanished, according to Mail.app. Now, when I check ~/Library/Mail the folders are still visible, and a quick Get Info tells me that they aren't empty. How do I get Mail to notice these folders?
A shot of the offending folder should appear below:
    867 DP G4, Powerbook 1.67   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

More info: I've tried a variety of paths to the mailboxes, and this is the only one that has yielded anything. Still, it ain't usable, yet.

  • Mail can't find message

Searching for a mail message or sender in Mail in Lion 10.7.3 OFTEN doesn't work.
Typing a search text that is literally the same as a message in front of me returns zero results.
Sometimes subjects can't be found, sometimes persons / senders can't be found.
We have mail installed on a server.
THe same problem occurred with earlier versions of OSX. Searching for a filename for instance record 2345 returns zero results, while I am looking at it in a different window !
Does anybody know why this is such a consistent bug in OSX?

Yes, the folders are all there, they're just empty.

  • PSE10 Outlook 2013 - Photo Mail can't find email association

I have Win 8 64-Bit (upgraded from Win 7 64-bit), Outlook 2013 (preview installed over Ourlook 2010) and PSE 10.
When I try use the Share > Photo Mail I get an error message:
"There is no email program associated to perform requsted action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
After I hit ok on the windows looking message box, I get a message in PSE:
"Elements Organiser could not Finish creating your email Message.
Please make sure that Microsoft Outlook is selected as the default email program in the Windows Internet Control Panel, and that all dialog boxes in Outlook are closed. If  this is the first time you are using Microsoft Outlook, please run the Outlook applicaiton and complete its set-up process before sending mail through Elements Organiser.
Alternatively, you can use the Adobe Email Service via the Elements Organiser Preferences Dialog.
I have Elements preferences pointing to Outlook. When I switch the sharing preference to Windows mail, I get:
"Elements Organiser could not Finish creating your email Message.
Alternatively, you can use the Adobe Email Service via the Elements Organiser Preferences Dialog."
I have checked the default programs, and Outlook 2013 has all associated file type and protocols pointed to it. (an dre-booted PC after resetting defaults)
    So either:
      - I am mising a fix relating to upgrading Win 7 64-bit with PSE10 to Win 8 64-bit or
      - PSE is looking for a particular protocol in the program defaults like MAILTO (but not this one as this is pointed to outlook) that is missing.
Anyone o know of a fix or what protocol it is looking for?

Well, the problem seems to have been cured. Not really clear what changed.
But using the Photo Mail or Email Attachment (with Outlook 2013 open), and the email appears as Outlook new email, and good to send.
    Two mentionable things happened:
I have Outlook 2010 open and tried to open 2013. Error -another outlook already open. Cleared error, closed O2010 and opened 2013.
The first one that worked, I was actually busy compiling a separate email, so that new mail was open.
When I complile in PSE, I don't select a recipient. Do that in the outlook new email window. (tried with selecting, still works, bt worth a mention)
So the good news, PSE10 works with Outlook 2013.
But not sure how to get past the problem I had, but keep trying, it will work.

  • Can't find action menu in iCloud to add filter

Apple support says to acess the "action pop-up menu" in the sidebar to add filtering rules. There's no visible action pop-up menu here.
How can I add filtering rules? Where can I find the action menu?
    Thanks.

It should be on the bottom-left corner in the Mail application on iCloud.com.  If you don't see it, make sure your browser is full screen.

  • Lost all my Sent Messages / How can I find them?

I lost all my Sent Messages and I need them very much!! How can I recover them?
    CRISMADRI

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Are you using Mac Mail or internet based like Yahoo or GMail?
If it's Mac Mail, with the Mail application open, from the Menu Bar click Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors. You will see Drafts, Sent, Junk and Trash. Where it says Sent, do you have the button selected where it says: Store sent messages on the server. ???
This from the Mac Mail Help Viewer:
I can't find email messages stored on the mail server
If you have an IMAP email account and you set the account preferences to store copies of messages (draft, sent, junk, or trash) on the IMAP mail server, you might experience situations in which your messages are not stored where you expected.
When Mail attempts to store messages on the server, it looks for specific mailboxes, by name, in which to put the messages. If Mail doesn't find those mailboxes on the server, it tries to create them. If Mail can't create them on the server, it can't store the messages. For example, Mail looks on the server for a mailbox called Sent Messages in which to put the sent messages. If Mail can't find a Sent Messages mailbox on the server, it tries to create one. If it cannot, it doesn't save copies of messages you send. You might be able to address this issue if there is another mailbox on the IMAP server (for example, Sent Items) that contains the messages you're looking for. You can have Mail use that mailbox to store its sent messages. To do so, select that mailbox (listed under the account's name and icon) in the Mail viewer window, choose Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For and then choose Drafts, Junk, Sent, or Trash, as applicable. You can select any mailbox on your IMAP server to use to store draft, sent, junk, or deleted messages.
If you change the account preferences to no longer store copies of messages on the mail server, you'll see that messages aren't where they used to be. To use sent messages as an example: If you were saving sent messages on the server and then change your settings to save those messages on your computer, the Sent mailbox will change to contain only messages stored on your computer; messages that were stored on the server will no longer appear in that mailbox. Instead, you'll see those messages are now located under the account's name and icon at the bottom of the list of mailboxes, in a mailbox called Sent Messages. Similarly, if you change from saving sent messages on your computer to saving them on the server, the Sent Messages mailbox will change to contain only messages stored on the server. You'll now see the messages that were saved on your computer in a mailbox called Sent Messages, followed by the account name in parentheses, such as Sent Messages (.Mac Account).

  • Mail 2.1 - Can't find rules on tool bar

I have read several posts regarding activating rules on the menu bar. In my case, nothing has worked to make the rules button activate (show) on the toolbar, no matter what I have read or done, including deleting the mail preferences. The only place I see the rules is in the Mail preferences. With this in mind, does anyone have a solution for a Mac Mini-Intel running Mail 2.1. I thank you in advance.

    Hi ccourson,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There is no Rules button that can be placed on the toolbar.
The options that are available are at View>Customize Toolbar.
Rules are applied as mail is received, and if you receive an email that you want to have a rule apply to, then the rule must be in place prior to your receipt.
In other words, and not being sarcastic, why would you want a rule if you were going to apply it to an email after you had received it?
The only way to apply a rule (actually to see if it works) to an email after receipt is to create the rule thru Mail>Preferences and then click "Yes" when it asks "Do you want to apply your rules to messages in open mailboxes?"
    Good Luck,

  • Can Rules in Mail be viewed in Alphabetical Order? How is this done?

Can Rules in Mail be viewed in Alphabetical Order? How is this done?

The default tables in the "Blank" templates in numbers contain one Header Row and one Header column. These rows and columns have special properties, including the ability to be 'frozen' in place as the rest of the table is scrolled.
Place your headings in a Header Row or a Header Column.
In the Table menu, you'll find "Freeze Header Rows" and "Freeze Header columns."
"Freeze" does not apply in Print view, where Header Rows and Columns are repeated on each 'page'.
    Regards,
    Barry
PS:For more on header and Footer rows/columns (and other features of Numbers), read the first four chapters of the numbers '09 User Guide. You can download the guide via the Help menu in Numbers'09. search "freeze" for more on freezing header rows, etc.

  • I'm using Mail 7.3 but can't find a "Block Sender" option, as exists in Outlook, as a way to block spam and unsolicited advertising. thanks.

I'm using Mail 7.3 but can't find a "Block Senders" option - as exists in Outlook - as a way to prevent repeated spam and advertising landing in my Inbox. Anyone have a solution for this? I've had a look at the Message Rules option but that doesn't seem to offer a fix. Thanks

You should be able to manage the problem with Rules, if you are happy to just delete the emails without you ever seeing them.
In Mail>Preferences>Rules, create a new rule with these options:
Description: Give a name to the Rule, such as Delete or Block Sender
On the line started 'If' choose 'Any' from the drop down menu and on the next line select 'From' and 'Contains', and then input the email address of the unwanted sender
Under 'Perform the following actions' choose 'Delete'.
As other senders you want to block send you unwanted emails you can add them to the rule by clicking the '+' sign against the line you added the email, if you have an email from that sender on screen when you edit the rule - they should appear there automatically.

  • Can not open my yahoo mail. Can't find on server but can open in all other browsers

Yahoo mail will not open in Firefox new 4.0 or older versions.
However, I can open in Safari and IE7.
Have talked to several folks that are having the same problem and most are just switching to other browsers and the problem goes away. I would prefer to solve the problem rather than just giving up and switching permanently to another browser. Different computers and I have the same problem. Copying the mail address from IE7 to firefox and it still can not find the mail account. Does find other web addresses just fine. It is something to do with yahoo mail.

if that is giving you a problem you might wanna look into
the app called yahoo one connect
its free and it can help with any problem you are
    getting with yahoo mail
or at least till apple looks into your problem

  • Can not find some messages in Mail using search

I have some problems with Mail.app I can not find some messages in Mail using search, the strange thing is that sometimes mail search finds some messages, but after rebuilding spotlight index the search displays other messages with the all messages searched using same search criteria. I have also tried to delete Envelope index file from the Mail folder in usr/library and forced mail to import all mailboxes but it started to crash importing some of mailboxes - I deleted the messages from that mailboxes, imported remaining mailboxes and tried to rebuild mailbox, but everything without a successes. Any ideas how to solve it?

  • Was typing an e-mail -trying to find "printer" - clicked SOME button now can't get back to my e-mail also top of page is missing/can't get to go down

Went thru mozilla to business e-mail account/wanted to make a copy of notice to be sent/was clicking different buttons to find a "printer" all of a sudden the whole page went up and the top (bar, browser, everything disappeared) now can't find anything of mine only info to download mozilla??

That was helpful but it didn't solve the problem. There were two red dots, now only one, though I copied and pasted the same password in both places. (I don't recall having to change the password in two places before).
The red dot next to smtp.mail.me.com:(myname) disappeared
The red dog next to smtp.me.com:(myname) is still there. It says, "trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct."
    Thanks,
