Rules in Mail not being applied after Mavericks update

Hi everyone, I know there are a lot of threads already discussing similar issues, but so far I've been unable to find one that helps resolve my particular issue. Ever since upgrading to Mavericks my rules are not being applied in Mail. I will give you a screenshot of one of my rules:
I have about five rules that follow the same pattern: search for particular string in the FROM field and mark it with a color if the string is present. These rules all worked fine in Snow Leopard. All of my rules are still present after the upgrade and all checked as active. When I "select all" messages in my inbox and press Option-Cmd-L the rules are applied properly. However, the rules are not applying themselves when new mail comes in. As far as I can tell this does not have anything to do with the mail not being recognizes “as a new message” like, for example, because the mail was already read on my phone. It happens even if my other devices are offline and the only thing I am using to check mail is my laptop.
I am using a MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core Duo with OS X 10.9.1, in case that matters.
Thanks for any advice!

I think I've found at least a partial solution to the Mail - Rules Don't Work problem:
In "Mail" go to the menu Mailbox and click on Rebuild.
If you have a lot of stuff, this will take several minutes to finish.
I also reviewed all my rules and made a few minor changes.
Mixed results:  I found that running "Apply Rules" didn't work on email already received; but new mail did.  I don't quite understand that, but I call it a partial success.

  • Security constraints not being applied after using custom login module

I am using form based authentication and I applied the custom login module - DBProcLoginModule to work with the embedded OC4J (JDeveloper 10.1.3.2). I have specified two security contraints in web.xml. The authentication is working correctly, however the security contraints are not being applied. All users are able to access all url resources. The security constraints were working properly before applying the custom login module. Pls help.
    Leena

    Hi,
if "All users are able to access all url resources" then this indicates that the RL isn't properly protected. If the authorization would fail then noone would have access and you would see error code 401
Make sure the role names in web.xml are the same as added by the LoginModule. Also make sure you set the dynamic.role property and the custom security provider property in the orion-application.xml
    <jazn provider="XML">
         <property name="custom.loginmodule.provider" value="true"/>
         <property name="role.mapping.dynamic" value="true"/>
    </jazn>
Note that the above is not required (because done automatically) if the custom LoginModule configuration is deployed through the orion-application.xml file

  • In-Built Speakers not being recognize after Mavericks Upgrade

After I updated my OS X, my iMac is not recognizing neither the in-built speakers nor any other device (e.g. headphones, external speakers). I have restarted and updated my machine many times; even re-installed the upgrade but the problem is still there. When I go to Audio MIDI Setup, there is not one single output device to select from, or set up. (this also happens at the System Preference > Audio). What can I do to get some sound out of my mac??? (BTW it does make the gong sound when powering up).

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by the warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do notappear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

After I updated to Maverick on my iMac, I noticed certain iCal events weren't showing up but they are showing up on my iPhone and Macbook. I know you can't sync through USB anymore - I only sync through iCloud anyways. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 Norton IS site logins no longer work, even though they are running, they do not auto load. Is FF not being recognised after the update ?? ??

Normally when i open FF the Norton IS login manager kicks in automatically and completes all the various site logins.
'''However '''since the update to FF4, even though Norton IS 2011 is running the login manager is not working, it's as if FF4 is not being recognised as my browser any longer.
There must be a fix for this; if not i'll be forced to revert to the previous version of FF
    New'ish system i3, Win 7, MS Office, Norton IS 2011, Firefox 4.0

You are almost correct in your assumption Norton needs updating to FF4

  • Mail not being pushed after upgrading to iPhone 4S

Ever since upgrading from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S last week, my iCloud email doesn't get pushed to my iPhone anymore. I have to manually go into mail and wait for mail to check.
No settings were changed and I setup the phone from a backup of my iPhone 4 that had no problems with push email.
    Both phones running iOS 5.01
    Thanks for your help

    Try the following:
Go to Settings > iCloud and turn mail OFF
Do a hard reset of the phone (hold the home and power buttons at the same time for about 6-8 seconds until the phone restarts - release the buttons when the Apple logo appears)
Go to Settings > iCloud and turn mail ON

  • /boot not being mounted after pacman update

I just updated my system and upon reboot I've found myself in emergency mode. journalctl -xb tells me among other things that /boot could not be mounted. Following this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=171880, I tried downgrading my kernel to 3.18.2 using pacman -U, and while it did downgrade, I am still not able to boot normally. Thinking the kernel upgrade process just caught a glitch, I tried reupdating my kernel, which caused the mkinitcpio script to run.
It said /boot appeared to be a separate partition but was not mounted. Rebooting, I still found myself in the same boat.
This is a dm-crypt+LUKS EFI system using gummiboot. The line currently in my fstab is LABEL=EFI /boot vfat rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,code page=437,iocharset=iso8859-1,short name=mixed,errors=remount-ro 0 2
uname -r tells me the emergency mode is using Linux kernel 3.18.2 instead of the 3.18.6 kernel I updated to. pacman -Q says Linux 3.18.6-1.
Journalctl -xb | grep -I failed | less shows that systemd failed to load display manager and failed to start Load Kernel Modules. Two units failed according to systemctl --state=failed.
When I startup and when I try and connect to the internet with netctl, I get the codepage cp437 error and am prompted again for my root password. Further investigation reveals that is in my /etc/fstab. I don't remember putting that in there. How can I see if any software modified it during the update?
I'd really appreciate suggestions for restoring my system. Thanks in advance.

  • IPhone not showing up after Mavericks update

Everything is plugged in normally and since I updated to Mavericks and updated iTunes my iPhone 5 no longer shows up in iTunes and I don't know why, any help would be appreciated!

Nevermind I never updated my iPhone, that was the issue.

  • Mail crashes after Maverick update

Mail will not open now, after Mavericks update.
    DOes anyone have a solution?

    Shut down Mail.
In Finder, go to "~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/" (just do CMD+Shift+G and paste the path).
Move all "Envelope" files to your desktop.
Restart Mail and let it convert/reindex your mailboxes.
If this worked, Trash the Envelope files file that are on your desktop.
You can try restoring mail from a Time Machine backup.
Hold down the Option key and in the Finder Go > Library
    Enter Time Machine.
Select a date before the Mavericks upgrade.
    Restore Mail.
Have an up-to-date Time Machine or other backup before attempting any major software updates or rebuilds.

  • Null offset from calibration not being applied to output

I am measuring some load cells using a I 9237.  I am setting the null offset using Device > Bridge Calibration in the DAQ Assistant.  I measure the offet and hit calibrate.  It says "Calibration successful" and I hit finish, but the offset value is not applied to the data.
How do I get this to work?

    Hello IamRubber,
How can you see the calibration not being applied?  Are you running the same DAQ Assistant to see the offset?  If possible, please attach a screenshot from before/after running bridge calibration.

  • Policy not being applied to users

I have a group policy that used to work, but now has decided it does not want to be applied to the workstations anymore. I don't know what may have happened to make is stop working.
It's a pretty restrictive policy for students. I have the exact same policy for two other groups of students that still work. All three policies were copied from the same set of files. In other words, I make a change to one, then copy the files to the other two because they reside on different servers. Yes, I do open each one in C1 to update the timestamp.
When I run wmsched, the policy is there in the list, but the settings are not applied. I can log in to the PC with one of the other student accounts and their policy is applied.
The login I'm using to test with has R rights to the policy location - the same rights that the other users have to their policies. I have also tried more rights with no different results.
The DLU part of the policy runs, and I have turned off the windows firewall. I have also created a brand new policy from scratch to rule out any corruption in the old policy and I get the same results.
Apparantly, my workstation policy for this group is not being applied either. The other two groups' policies apply like they are supposed to. So this means that neither policy assigned to this group of students/workstations is working.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
