Rules in Mavericks: Disappeared!!

I've been having problems with rules for sometime but this is now then end of the road.
I've set up the required rule and its sort of fine for a day, it then disappears totally from the list. The only rule visible is The Apple rule.
I've sent feedback to Apple but this is really annoying me!

got my reply from my bug report:
Engineering has determined that your bug report (15297560) is a duplicate of another issue (15113191) and will be closed.
The open or closed status of the original bug report your issue was duplicated to appears in the yellow "Duplicate of XXXXXXXX" section of the bug reporter user interface. This section appears near the top of the right column's bug detail view just under the bug number, title, state, product and rank.
An example of the duplicate section from the bug reporter user interface with your bug and the duplicate bug info is included below:

ICal in Mavericks DISAPPEARS!

Hi everyone, I downloaded the Mavericks version for my macbook. I updated my iCal with all my new events.. and now it has DISAPPEARED! Can someone please help me locate it?! I really need the dates! Thanks.

OS X Mavericks disappears after downloading

Chances are I am being an idiot... Nevertheless I am trying to download OS X Mavericks from the app store. The download works well and I can see the OS X Mavericks icon in my Launchpad. However once the download finishes (I have never actually seen the finish) the program seems to disappear. Any one got any ideas?

Uninstall that garbage first, and verify all its remnants are permanently eradicated from your Mac. Then, boot OS X Recovery by holding ⌘ and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. At the Mac OS X Utilities screen select Reinstall Mac OS X. Doing so will restore any required OS X system components that may have been removed or corrupted from having used "CCleaner", but will not repair other programs that may have been corrupted from using it. You may need to install them from their original sources.
Do not use "CCleaner" or anything like it, ever again.
Following that, download Mavericks from the App Store and install it.

Photoshop and OS/X Mavericks - disappearing menus

This may have been covered already, but I didn't see an answer for it in the forums. Basically, all of the menus in Photoshop CC seem to occasionally blank out, and this has only started happening for me since I upgraded to OS/X Mavericks. It doesn't happen in any other program, and there doesn't seem to be any way to tell when it's going to happen. Is there a fix for this, aside from quitting and re-starting the program?
Some additional info: I'm using a mid-2009 Macbook Pro with 8GB of RAM. I've swapped out the optical drive for a second hard drive and I've done a clean install of the operating system, Photoshop, my Wacom driver and Capture One Pro (and nothing else) in an effort to see if there were conflicts with some other random software. It didn't help.

Decision table rules manager content disappearing

Hi Experts,
We have BRM decision table deployed . I can access that from Portal and Rules manager . I can modify the content of that table . No Problem till now .
The problem is :
Every time transport happens to P for any thing (not related to table ), that content of table is removed automatically .And i have to do the entries again Manually .
this is very difficult and unreliable . Please suggest how we can make that content persistent even we deploy something .or how can i upload content fast after deployment . say from some excel or file .

Well it could be a real problem but I suspect you are missing a couple of steps... to check...
Before making any changes in your NWDS, you should be downloading the current active version of the Rules Project and importing that into your NWDS. Suggest you read the SAP Library help on this one and you'll need to get security to give you BRM Download access - there's a security action for this that they need to add to your security role in the production environment.

As for how to upload the decision tables content en masse... that's that the export/import (to/from MS Excel) buttons are for in the decision table section of Rules Manager and where you, or better still your business user (these are business rules after all ), should be doing this.

How do I activate the new Portuguese spelling rules in Mavericks?

Dear list members, I'm using a MacBook Pro 13" (model 9,2) and MacOS 10.9.4. How do I activate the new Portuguese spelling rules? I tried setting the system to Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal), but it uses only the old spelling rules. The new rules are available only through third-party applications, such as MS Office for Mac. Could you please help me? Thanks.

You have to install another dictionary that uses those rules. See

How to import Mail rules from Lion to Mavericks?

I tried importing my several dozen rules from OS X 10.7.5 to Mavericks 10.9.4. I tried the method described by SECollins7 here:

It did not work. Nor does manually copying the text from «MessageRules.plist» to «SyncedRules.plist». They just do not appear in the rules settings in Mail in Mavericks.
Is there a way to import rules anyway?

This issue is caused by a combination of two things:
The file used in previous versions of OS X to store local (not iCloud-based) Mail rules is not used in Mavericks.
The migration process doesn't transfer the rules from the old file to the new one, which has a different format.
You may be able to recover the Mail rules by taking the steps below.
Warning: Do not use this procedure if you synchronize Mail rules with other devices via iCloud.
Quit Mail if it's running.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
cd Library/Mail/V2/MailData; /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -x -c 'Print :rules' MessageRules.plist > SyncedRules.plist
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear. You can then quit Terminal. Test.

Planning Rule (Calc Manager) Names Disappearing

I have deployed several rules to Planning but after sometime, the rule names no longer show in Planning. I have yet to determine the sequence of events that cause the rule names to disappear but this is the 3rd time it has happened. Is this a known bug/fix or is there a sequence of events to avoid? I am using 11.1.1.3 with an Oracle DB. Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Yes, this is a known bug and we faced this issue many times and it is not yet resolved. We were asked to apply 11.1.1.3.01 patch, then .02 and .03 patch. We did not see this issue re-occuring for some time and thought that the patch fixed it. Then it showed again yesterday and Oracle suggests that we have to apply .04 patch and this will nail the issue. We are yet to test it.
One of the workaround to get back the rules is
1. In deployment view of Calc Manager, de-select ALL rules from ALL plan types and do a deploy at the application level (very important at application level).
2. Make sure in Planning that all the rules are gone.
3. Then redeploy these rules again.

Why is Mail rule syncing only one way?

Odd. I've got a Mac mini and an iMac, both running 10.8.2, both with iCloud syncing Documents & Data. Mail on the mini has rules -- created on that machine -- for SpamSieve that are not syncing to the iMac; in fact, both rules disappear every few days and I only notice because spam starts piling up.
On the other hand, changes to Mail rules on the iMac are synced to the mini. The mini has been running Mountain Lion for five months; the rules only started disappearing after I upgraded to ML on the iMac last month.
Any ideas on why the syncing is only one-way?

It appears that I can't edit my original question. So here is new information. It is syncing. However, the contacts are syncing with my personal folders. The calendar is syncing from Outlook to Ipad from my personal folders. However, the calendar is syncing to Outlook in a hotmail calendar in the profile that I didn't know existed. How do I get it set right.
I tried to select the calendar. However only one calendar is available in itunes. It must be the correct calendar as it is syncing fine. So how do I get ipad to sync back to the personal folders calendar instead of the hotmail calendar in my profile?

Office 2013 - Contacts/Rules not recovered after system restore

I have an IMAP connection and was having issues in Outlook 3013. I deleted the profile and created a new one not realizing that my Contacts (This computer only) and Rules would also disappear.
I did a System Restore and my original Outlook profile returned. The issues I was having in Outlook were corrected but my Rules and Contacts did not come back. How can I get these back?

We can't move an IMAP .ost file to another profile in Outlook 2013. You need to export the contents of the non-mail folders to a .pst file to move them to a new profile.

I downloaded OsX mavericks and it doesn't want to instal.

i downloaded OsX mavericks and when i came to instal it a message appeared 'close all applications to instal'. i clicked on it several times, waited, and nothing happened. Then i clicked 'quit instal', the downloaded Os X mavericks disappeared and i'm downloading again. Did anyone face the same problem? Any idea what to do if it doesn't instal again?

Welcome to the Support Communities!
The "Install OS X Mavericks" application will appear in your Applications folder once it is downloaded.
Check the Applications folder to see if it is there, or do a Spotlight search for this file.
Double click on the Installer file to begin the installation.
The file will be removed once Mavericks has been installed.

Mavericks Multiple Video Crashes

I had two seperate incidents today in which my iMac 27" late 2012 crashed after I upgraded to Mavericks. Both times I was running screen apps. Once was with Safari while playing a Netflicks video full screen. The second time was while I was playing Borderlands 2 full screen.
The video froze and the entire system became un responsive. Only thing I could do was a hard reboot.
Any ideas?
Am I alone?
Prior to Mavericks update. No crashes since I got my iMac in January of 2012.

I called Apple. Seeing them tonight. They say it most likely is hardware related, the 2011 models had defective AMD's and this is a known issue. I wouldn't rule out Mavericks causing the issue just yet though. Let you guys know what happens after they replace the AMD. It's free of charge too since it's a known issue.
I would recommend calling Apple to see if your models could be in the same boat.

Rules Menu Gone?

I am running 10.4.10
My Mail rules menu has disappeared?
I use to go to:
Choose Mail > Preferences and click Rules, but Rules is not there anymore.

Odd preview issue with pdf

I have a pdf I created from Quark 7. There are a number of items with .5pt rules or boxes around them (for example, business card sized ads with a half point rule). Some rules show fine and others require me to zoom in very close to see them. If I zoom in at different levels (say 100%, 150%, etc.) I may see the rule on one side only, then at a different zoom level the rule I see disappears and I see one or two of the other sides. Is this a bug of Acrobat? I'm using 9, but have seen this in earlier versions as well. Since I just sent a long document off to a printer that has this occurring, I want to make sure the rule will show and not have to fix the page later on.
Anyone know why this is happening. (I'm viewing PDF on iMacG5, but same thing happens on intel Macbook and my client's older G4.

I definitely have Calibri - came with Office for Mac and is the font I have set my "normal" style to use (plus my default e-mail font, etc.). I have checked in FontBook and Calibri is there, no duplicate fonts and I validated the font and it is all fine (regular, italic, bold, bold italic). My Calibri works fine in PDF's because I create a fair number of documents in Word (for Mac) and "print" them to PDF and Calibri is the main font I use.
What is weird is that the document has the font embedded anyway (at least the subset it needs), yet when Adobe Reader displays the document the fonts look nothing like Calibri.
I can open the file fine in Photoshop - but as with Reader, the font it uses is not Calibri.
Also, Preview done snot see the "blocks" where the text should be as text - as I cannot select them with the text cursor but only with the select (image/rectangle) tool. I can't see a way to attach an image to a port here but the blocks I get a like lines of giant black pixels (rectangles the size of a character) where the text should be, some fully black, then fading to lighter greys across the word (some starting black, fading to light grey, others starting light grey building to black, a few all solid black). Sorry for the lousy description.
I have double checked a PDF I created (using Word/Office for Mac) and it had two embedded subset fonts, Calibri and Calibri bold and it displays fine in both Preview and Reader and the font is very different from that Reader/Photoshop show for the problem document. Although in my document the "encoding" was set to "built-in" whilst the problem document has encoding set to "ansi"

Aaagh! Help needed with tabs, I just don't get how to use them.

I have done a search for a beginners guide on how to make the following setting, without any luck, so I felt the need to start a new topic.
I am writing a contents page for a collection of poetry and I have (so far) written out those contents so they are aligned to the left of the page. So there is a number bullet, then the title of the poem, as follows:
1. Abend
2. Der Allwissende
3. Im hohen Alter
What I want is to put the page number for each poem (each poem has it's own page), on the same line, but aligned to the right side of the page. Like this:
Introduction +Page 5+
1. Abend 6
2. Der Allwissende 7
3. Im hohen Alter 8
I should mention in case it's relevant, I am using text boxes for the contents pages.

Do as you have done. Set the lists style to "None".
Then simply click on the ruler where you want to have tabs. To change the tab to left/right/centred or decimal keep clicking on the tab or right mouse click on the tab and choose which you want.
So to create what you say you need, going from left to right.
1. *A right tab* to catch the right edge of the number say 1cm from the left
2. *A left tab* to catch the beginning of the text say 1.5cm from the left
3. *A right tab* or decimal tab on the far right of the ruler to catch the page number
To get rid of tabs just pull them away from the ruler and they disappear in a puff of smoke.
You will need to type a tab at the beginning of each line with a number to push it over to the first (right hand) tab.
Refinements are:
1. *Hanging indent.* This makes the number sit to the left and the following paragraph to align to the 2nd tab. Do this by sliding the left margin stack to the position of the 2nd tab, then drag the flat bar on the top back to the left margin.
2. *Leading tab.* In +Inspector > Text (4th tab) > Tabs > Click on the 3rd tab in the list > Leader > Choose line style+
Just the usual reminder that tabs are a style attached to whatever paragraph that you are in and continue on with every return until you change them to something else.
Having set up these tabs the way you like them, it would be a good idea to turn them into a named paragraph style for reuse elsewhere.
