Yes, I think this has been covered quite completely (sufficiently & correctly!) already. I don't see the vendor for the duplicate thread.

  • Run Android Apps on Blackberry Z10

This Topic has been Moved for correct placement

Hi and Welcome to the Community! Here is one:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Downloaded-Applications/You-Upgraded-to-OS-10-2-1-and-want-to-run-Android-Apps-on-Your/td-p/2784957#nobannerIt's not the formal Google Play Store...Google and BB continue to not play well together. Google Play Services require significant "hacking" to get them to work on BB10 devices, and remain less than 100% effective. Basically, try SNAP and see if the apps you want are there and will function...if not, then seek out other sources of APKs, which you can directly install to your device. Those that work are good, those that don't work...well, they don't work. Good luck!

  • Apps moved to SD card are moved back to device through updates by Google Play

Hello This happens on both my Z3 Compact (5.0.2 - v23.1.A.1.28) and Z3 Tablet Compact (5.1.1 - v23.4.A.0.546) This is really annoying. After running out of space on the devices, I went through all the trouble of moving a bunch of large apps to the SD card but then halfway through an update by Google Play Store found that the devices had run out of space again. A quick look confirmed that the "move to SD card" option was again enabled for apps previously moved but then subsequently updated through the Store. TIA

When you move an app to the external SD-card you're only moving the apk-file (the file that you download from Google Play). You can't move the apps private data and databases.
Say for example that you download an app from Google Play where the download from Google Play is 40MB. After it's installed you go to Settings -> Apps -> On SD Card and open that app. If you here check "App on device" and then move it to the SD card you will see that after moving it, "App on device" will have decreased with the file size you downloaded from Google Play (40MB).
The apps are moved to the folder .android_secure on the root of the external SD but you will probably not find this folder using a file manager in the phone. You can see it if you were to connect the phone to a computer in MSC-mode though.
I beliveve the mount point for it in the phone is /mnt/asec

  • You Upgraded to OS 10.2.1 and want to run Android Apps on Your BB10? Install Snap to Your Device!

If you've upgraded to OS 10.2.1.x on your BB10 device you can now install any free Android app directly to your BB10 smartphone directly without any special converting and without the need to connect to your PC.  This opens up BB10 to the thousands of Android apps available in the Google Play store.  However, you need an app to quickly search for and install these Android apps.
The best app available so far is called Snap.  Unfortunately, Snap can't be installed directly to the device since it's a native BlackBerry app and is not yet available in the BlackBerry App Store.  However, it can be quickly loaded to your BB10 device using your PC.
Here is a quick and easy way of installing Snap on your BB10 device using your PC.  Once Snap is installed on your device you won't need your computer to install Android apps on your device!
    1.   Download Sachesi for your computer Platform, i.e. Windows, Mac, Linux (Don't download the Sachesi bar file for BlackBerry or the apk file for Android)
    Sachesi
    2.  Download Snap from here:
    Snap
    3.  Connect your BB with the USB cable.
    4.  Double click on the Sachesi app you downloaded.
    5.  When it opens, click the "Install" tab. (If your device requires a password enter it here.)
    6.  Drag the Snap bar filed you downloaded in step 2 into the box under the install tab.  As soon as you drop the file it will load to the device.
    7.  That's it!  You can disconnect your device and enjoy direct downloading of Android apps on your BB10 device by opening Snap and using your Google Account.
Note:  Not all Android apps will run on the BB10 and, occasionally, an app will not work quite as expected.  However, the vast majority do run normally.

  • Best Software to Run Android Apps on Windows Tablet

    Hi
I have been looking at some apps to allow Android Apps to run on a Windows Tablet.
Grateful if you can assist me with some recommendations
Key things are: ease of installation and use;  and long term stability
    Thank you in advance

    Hello HebertMr,
I am afraid that is not possible. The reason is they are very different Operation systems and they are designed to follow certain codes(rules).
Hope this helps. If not give me a shout i am happy to help.
    Best of luck.

  • Widgets for apps not available when app moved to SD card

After the 4.3 update to my S4 all of my Widgets for installed apps were missing from my pages.
I looked at this closely and found that if the app was moved to the SD card the Widgets for the related app were not available on my pages anymore.
When I move the app back to the device then the Widgets reappeared in the Widgets tab, and then I could put them back on a page.
I tried reinstalling the apps that had the Widgets I wanted, and then moved them to the SD card again, but that did not correct the issue.
Hopefully this gets fixed or is there a workaround?

That's the way Android has always worked since they first allowed apps to be installed on the SD card in Android 2.2. It is also one of the reasons why default/stock Android OS doesn't allow applications to be installed on the external SD card. Samsung added the code back on some of their devices. Since Android 2.2, if you need your widgets to work the application must be installed on the internal memory space on the device.

  • How do I run Mac Apps Store without credit card number?

    Dear all,
some years ago I started an Apple ID account, but I never used it to purchase apps. Recently I tried to download free apps using Mac Apps Store, but I was asked to complete my profile and to add my credit card number, apparently without it I cannot continue the procedure. What should I do if I do not intend to give my credit card details?
    Thank you,
    Marco

  • PlayBook Help with Android Apps / Google Apps ** Advice Needed Plz **

Good Evening Everyone, I need some help and advice please regarding a Playbook.
I had a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" and found that firstly i could not move apps to SD Card so i sold it.
But now i want to buy a Blackberry Playbook and understand that Android Apps are on the new software update.
But i am trying to find out if i can buy them from Google Android Apps as i have a Google Account and used to buy android apps from there, can they be used on the Playbook??
Finally can someone advise me if there is a SD Card external port if i wanted to add a extra 32GB of storage. Looked everywhere on the Spec but with no joy finding out.
Any help and suggestions would be really Handy.
Its Nearly 2013 so wishing you all a Happy New Year.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1) a far as I know, no SDcard reader available for the PlayBook currently.
    2) Android apps, that you can download from the Google Play with your Google Account will not work on anything else than an Android powered tablet.
    3) what you have certainly read on the internet, is that "the PlayBook can run Android apps", which is not exactly true.
What is true is this, and you will be quite disappointed:
    A) applications for the PlayBook are either web applications (like GMail using the browser), or applications installed from the App World (it is a Blackberry store, just like the AppStore for iOS or Google Play for Android).
    B) for a given developer that has developped an application for Android, it is very easy to convert their app to the BlackBerry format, and publish it on the App World.
====> basically, if you want to install an application that is available for Android, you have to wait for the developer to port the application to the BlackBerry PlayBook.
for the financial issues, I believe that if you buy an app on Google Play, and the app is available on the App World, then you have to buy it again (and vice versa).
I will end by saying that if the only reason for you to sell your Galaxy Tab 2, is that the apps cannot be moved to the SDCard, then I am not sure the PlayBook will suit your needs for that aspect.

  • Should Windows 10 provide ease of use virtual machine to run Android, Windows XP, etc applications

In Windows 7, I really like the easy access to Windows XP Mode that enabled me to have full compatibility to my older hardware scanner and its software (which I still use today).  Similarly, I love my Z30 Blackberry phone which allows me to run Android
applications in addition to those from the Blackberry store.
My suggestion for Windows 10 is to provide a built in virtual machine option (ease of use) that would allow my Windows machine to install and run the multitude of Android applications that are currently available.
I believe an ease of use feature like this in Windows 10 would become a real differentiator for Windows eco systems, such as Windows Phones and Windows Surface and help promote sales and product adoption.  To me it is another way of looking at the product
and making it the best in any world...  Kind of like running the MS Office product on a Mac.

Microsoft Office for Mac was purposefully written for Macs, it doesn't use an emulator to run the PC version. Microsoft earns revenue from the sales of Microsoft Office for Mac.
You're not going to see Microsoft going out of their way to enable running Android apps on Windows 10.

  • Blackberry 10: Android App should be 100% compatible

    Hi Spotify,
With the recent announcement that newer Blackberry 10 OS versions will come with the Amazon App Store pre-installed. Can Spotify dedicate a couple of resources to test the Amazon version of the Spotify app to work on BB10 devices?
I understand that you don't want to dedicate resources to develop a native Blackberry app - but with this announcement, YOU DON'T HAVE TO! :) Just insure your ANDROID app is tested and works on BB10 devices... that's all.
With the roll out of Spotify in Canada, you'll find that Blackberry is still alive and kicking up here in the great white north. I for one love my BB10 device; switched from an iPhone after 5 years and will never go back.
    Thanks!
    Martin

Here's my two cents on Spotify for BlackBerry.
I have been a paying user for quite some time and I absolutely love listening to Spotify on my Blackberry z30. Running OS 10.2.1.
Everything pretty much works perfectly, except the fact that sometimes when I skip a song it double skips.
Now an android version of spotify capable of running from the Amazon store will basically require removal of Google play services dependencies. This will not only give Spotify access to the second biggest android market (Amazon) but to the whole Blackberry market as well. This I believe has been mentioned by Teslatradeup but I'll do so again either way. Blackberry OS10 has the capability of running android apps excellently and just recently it came together with Amazon to exploit such capabilities. Now an official android port from Spotify would be amazing don't get me wrong but based on public feedback, the majority of Blackberry users would prefer is a native Cascade based Spotify app.
You see developers for Blackberry also have the option to develop native applications rather than Android ports. These are overwhelmingly preferred throughout the multiple BlackBerry communities I have been involved with. They not only run smoother but are safer and usually the number one choice when looking for an app.
Now Blackberry in other parts of the world like the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia still hold a very good chunk of the market over Apple, Android and Windows Phone.
Point being if a native Spotify app has been developed for Windows phone doesn't it make sense to go forward and build a native one for BlackBerry as well?
Think of the unlimited potential and all the increased revenue from an increased audience. Think BlackBerry and I assure you won't regret developing for it.
Thank you for your time and have a great day.
PD; please fix the Facebook login option for the windows phone app. Please do not bring that problem for the Blackberry app. :)

  • Linux, Chrome, and power of Android apps

    @Jimmy T.
have chromes remote desktop app installed but I dident think their app would allow me to punch in an IP of a local machine and control it, it also does not support remote FX.  Please do correct me if I'm missing something as that would be easier.

So for a long time (since Ubuntu 7.10) I have been playing with Linux, different distros, different systems and about 6 months ago I fully switched my work notebook to running Linux as my primary OS, its been great! but as we all know sometimes its really nice to have the apps that you've been using on windows (one-note is one im still looking to find a good replacement for.  I have recently discovered ARC Welder, a chrome plugin that lets you run android apps on top of chrome EPIC!  I was wondering if anyone else had been doing this Iv been using it to use the android Microsoft remote desktop client and that works surprisingly well haven't gotten one note to work so that's still running threw the web app which stinks but ya, wondered if anyone else had tried this at all.  Thoughts SpiceHeads?

  • Video not working on the first run of Android app

I couldn't find any results regarding this problem. Maybe I'm just using wrong keywords as it is difficult to explain.
Has anyone else encountered that video is not working on the first run of Android app? By first run I mean directly after installing. I'm using NetConnection, NetStream, Video objects and GPU renderMode. By working I mean it's not showing and can't hear the audio. I haven't yet debugged deeper so I don't know if the problem is actually related to the code loading the video.
I've encountered the following issues, which may or may not be related, regarding the the first run and Video object:
    - The first run takes about 20 seconds to start. After that, the start is pretty much instant. If you clear app's cache, it again takes the 20 seconds to launch. The video works after clearing app's cache.
    - When creating the first Video object, the app flashes screen to black for a few frames. This is why I create a dummy Video object in the beginning.
I use AIR 13, going to upgrade to 14, but I'm quite sure this problem and the issues have been for a while.

I should add that we're using flv, not mp4. And they're progressively downloaded, not local.
