Run Applet On Server Using 8.3 File Name Format

Hello Everyone,
I am currently trying to produce an applet that will display content from a PLC (which hosts its own webpage). The PLC itself only allows files using the 8.3 file name format to be stored on it (eg. 123456789.123).
I have tried a few simple things, such as changing the ".class" file extension to ".cls". But this just produced an error in my internet browser (IE 8).
Any help and/or work-arounds would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Vincent Wiebe

  • Unable to generate csr, Please use a valid file name

I've been attempting to generate a new certificate signing request on our Exchange 2013 server.  In the past we've never had a problem but we seem to be stuck today.  When we try to output the new csr to one of our network shares we see the following
    error.
"Please use a valid file name when you run the New-ExchangeCertificate cmdlet on server server1 with the -RequestFile parameter. The file should not exist in target folder. Parameter name: RequestFile"
We've use this share location before without problems, the Exchange Trusted Subsystem has write intermissions on this location as described online but we still receive the error.  I've tried creating new locations but haven't had any success.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi,
We can access the Exchange Certificate Management UI through the EAC in Exchange 2013 by selecting
Servers and then Certificates to create a new certificate to have a try.
Alternatively, we can try the following command:
    $Data = New-ExchangeCertificate -GenerateRequest -SubjectName "c=US, o=contoso inc, cn=server.contoso.com" -DomainName mail.contoso.com, contoso.com, autodiscover.contoso.com -PrivateKeyExportable $true
    Set-Content -path "C:\Certificates\MyCertRequest.req" -Value $Data

  • How do I configure snow leopard server to allow local client to access the server using its public domain name

I have SLS 10.6 running on my local network with DNS configured.
I can access the server from a client on the lan using server.local or server.domain  where domain name is my publically registered domain,
From the internet I can access my server using the registered domain name i.e. www.domain.com.
Is it possible to set my server up so that www.domain.com  also reaches the server when used by a client locally?   At present I get a page not found error.

The configuration you're aiming for is called split-horizon or split-brain DNS, and it's quite possible.  It can get slightly hairy when you have different stuff using the same host name for different purposes, for instance, and you'll need to track all external DNS entries in your internal DNS server when you're running "split".
Here is how to set up DNS services.   Split-horizon is one of the options listed there.
My preference is to use a different domain or subdomain within the network, and to avoid using split-horizon where I can reasonably manage it.  One domain name is configured for and reachable outside and is effectively public, and the other domain (or a subdomain) is inside and private and only reachable directly or via VPN, for instance.

  • Rename file name & format using ftp sender

    Hi all,
This is regarding the renaming of file at sender file(FTP) communication channel and placeing the same file in the same folder.
At FTP server at sender side (i.e.clients place) is in .txt format. But now .txt file has to rename and change into .sav foramt with below required name convention of file.
client format is  :  SAP_Order.txt (Pervious file name).
We need to change the file in to "SAP_Order_yyyymmddThhmmss.sav" format..
How can i achieve this requirement?
Can please suggests me solutions ASAP.
    Best Regards,
    satya,

    Hi,
if your requirement is to pick the  existing file in the FTP folder...and send as idoc to the target and place the renamed file to FTP folder...
    then its simple...
use two receivers instead of one , one for point to target and other for sender itself... (second receiver  is for  changing  the file name format....)
Hope the above understanding is correct...if not provide more details of your requirement...

  • File name format of rotated access log

    Hi,
    I'm using wls5.1sp9 on Solaris.
Is it possible to specify a different file name format of the rotated http access
    logs?
Instead of getting files named access.log0001 and so on, I would prefer access.log.<date>
    or some other custom format.
    Best regards,

    Hi,
Thanks for your response. But I have another query. The name of the file as per your reply is like UsageReport.xls correct? Now my query is, should it contain some date, account id/orgid etc associated for that usage. The reason for my query is that if MSP
downloads the usage for different orgs having same bill date then it would conflict with the different usage files.
    Thanks And Regards,

  • IPhoto: After I've changed the file name/format in Finder iPhoto can't load/relink to the referenced file.

After I've changed the file name/format in Finder iPhoto can't load/relink to the referenced file anymore. For some reasons I don't like to reimport the file.

Hmm the advice has been not to use referenced libraries - you ignored and did it anyway and you find the advise not helpful
Furthermore the advice is that if you choose to use a referenced library that you assure that the path never changes - you also choose to ignore that advice and do it anyway - and you blame the peopson trying to help you
once again - you have one choice - change the file names back and put the files back in the exact same place - and again you are totally ignoring the advice and instead name calling and attacking the person giving you advice
Maybe life would be easier if you followed advice rather than ignoring it and then complaining that things no longer work
change the name back and you will be fine until the next problem you hit that is caused by choosing a referenced library
    Have a nice day

  • Does Anyone Run Arch For Server Use?

I was curious if anyone here uses / recommends Arch Linux for dedicated server use? It seems 'most' people here are Linux enthusiast and run this as their distribution of choice. Has anyone seen or have any comments about loading this on a server or VM and using it reliably as a server like one would say Debian Linux or Slackware Linux? I understand Arch is a rolling release distribution and it's very bleeding edge which kind of impacts how reliable something can be however I've never had Arch Linux crash or do anything dumb however I've not used it massively. Would like to see how others view this topic and such.
Also for my own interests, if you don't use Arch Linux for a server based role, what do you prefer instead?
Last edited by Carlwill (2013-04-29 21:02:00)

https://wiiking2.com/forums <-- I run this on an Arch-based Linode with Lighttpd for static content, PHP-FPM/FastCGI for dynamic and its honestly not that bad to maintain.
The main trick is to stay current with the packages and always be careful with updating. I normally keep my config stored on a local backup just so if something does go wrong, I can always get things running again. It took just as long as it would normally take me to do a Debian/Ubuntu setup in all honesty, if not faster.
My advice to you is to install only what you need if you're going to install Arch on a production server. The less packages you have to worry about, the less maintaining you may or may not have to do, if any at all. We're lucky enough to have the announcements page bring up the big changes so that's something to consider.
Honestly I would only recommend using Arch as a server if you know that the web-based software that you're using really doesn't mix well with frozen versions or if you're a developer and working on your own stuff. (Which I currently am) But when they say that it is as stable as you make it, the truth cannot be any more clearer than that.

  • Tomcat Web-server uses old .class files

    Hi Friends,
My Tomcat webserver uses old .class files. The problem persists even if I delete old class files. The new ones are formed but then if i again recompile, the new-old ones are used :)
    Am I doing something wrong????
    Please suggest!!

I have experienced this problem before as well. Tomcat seems to cache compiled class files for better speed. To get Tomcat to reload class files that I've recently recompiled here is what I do:
    1. Go into the Tomcat server administration area (http://localhost/admin)
    2. Choose the context that is using the classes that you want to reload (from Service / Host)
    3. Make sure reloadable is set to true
    3. Click save, and then commit changes
Hope this helps, but if there is a better way to get Tomcat to use the most recent class files I would love to hear it!

  • Marketing Workflow (running on Windows Server) can not read files on Linux

We are currently facing an issue in fetching the WSD responses stored in XML format and importing it into Siebel DB. These XML files are created in Siebel Linux servers(Temp folder) where EAI Object manager is running. But Marketing workflows (Mktg Master import workflow) is running on Windows server ( where marketing file system installed). Mktg Master import workflows are not able to read XMLs stored in Linux servers.
When we monitor the workflow we see an error:

  • How to Communicate with Programs running on AIX server Using LabVIEW.

We have an IBM AIX server on which some programs are running  which basically perform some scientific calculations. I am required to send the inputs to the calculation from a VI on windows system and get back the results  on the VI.  I do not have any idea on how to do this.
But i heard that there is a tool ( not developed in LabVIEW) developed by my customer which can communicate with the AIX server thro Java Classes.
So i tried exploring APPLETVIEW which supports java and LabVIEW but i am confused.
Is there any way to achive this interfacing between AIX and LABVIEW?.
    Thanks
    Vilas G

    Hi Vilas,
How you may communicate with you AIX server may very greatly depending on what is running on your server.  Here is a link to another thread where Java calls and AppletView were discussed.  It contains a link to the company that makes AppletView, so it may have some good information for you.
Also, if your customer suggested you use AppletView and they developed it, they would probably be your best bet for explaining it to you.
    Hope this helps!

  • Thousands of individual .txt files being created while using "next available file name" option in Save to ASCII step

I'm using Signal Express to record Load vs Displacement data and export it to a format our engineers can work with (in this case ASCII is okay). It would seem that by selecting the Next Available File Name from the drop down arrow it would do just that. For instance a typical save path for me would look like C:\....Desktop\Project Number and Description\Run_1.txt within that Run1.txt file would be all the data points for that run. When I hit record again Signal Express would (SHOULD) create a Run_2 since it's the Next Available File Name.
But instead what it does is creates a single txt file for every single sample point being read. Needless to say, If I'm recording 6 second of data at 1khz I end up with thousands of txt files!
The first thing that comes to mind is, why would anyone want this?
Second is how can I record multiple individal runs for the same project and have the file name increment?

...and more attachments of the ASCII save path, before and after acquiring 4 seconds of data along with one of the files from that folder.
Again, this is 4 seconds of two-channel spring  plot data at 100 Samples to Read @ 1k Rate (Start Run.... wait 4 seconds or two full test sample cycles... Stop Run).
    ~EDIT~
The .txt file would not attach (I think it's too small). Here's what it looks like if you were to open it:
Load vs Displ - Displ (inches)    Load vs Displ - Load (lbs)
    3.736323                              273.751906
Also, for some reason it won't let me attach my project file. It's a .seproj extension but the forum thinks it's 1k in size and "empty"

  • Accidental use of "/" in file names

I accidentally used a "/" in a filename (I know it's invalid), but came up with some interesting results. The file was on a USB attached drive. On the Mac that had the attached drive I could see the filename. I have two MacBooks that are network attached via wi-fi to the drive via a share on the attached Mac, and on one of them I could see the filename, and on the other I couldn't. Once I dropped the "/" it became visible to the one that couldn't see it.
Anyone have any suggestions why one MacBook could see it  and the other couldn't?

As for this being of academic interest, this IS a discussion group.
Well if you want to discuss, that can be done...
A long time ago, in an operating system far, far away (namely MacOS) there were no such things as paths, let along delimiters. People had too much trouble dealing with that, so they used ':' as a path delimiter. Anything else was allowed.
Fast forward to the future and we are using a UNIX system called MacOSX. The only character not allowed is the UNIX filesystem delimiter '/'. However, the Finder, and lots of other legacy programs still allowed '/' in file names and didn't allow ':'. In such programs, there is sometimes some path delimiter magic twiddling going on. In the Finder, you can create a file name with a '/'. If you then run Terminal.app and do a UNIX directory listing, you will see your file with a ':' where the '/' should be. The same thing works in reverse. If you use various modern and/or UNIX tools create a file with a colon in the name, it will show up in the Finder as a '/'. This "feature" is strictly for backwards compatibility. You should consider both characters to be forbidden.
Plus, if you ever want to share your files with Windows users, you should consider all the assorted Windows special characters to be forbidden too. Depending on what software you use here or there, it may or may not work. There is no real definitive list as software is being modified and upgraded all the time.
There is nothing wrong with having spaces in file or folder names either. However, some lazy UNIX programmers forget this and things may fail, perhaps spectacularly, if you make heavy use of open-source programs.

  • Encore CS4 Flash output - server doesn't like file names

Apparently my ftp server for my web site does not like files with spaces in the names, but Encore seems to use spaces in some of the file names for the png files in the menus. Is there any way around this? Can I force it to replace spaces with underscores? Can I go in and manually change the links and the file names (there aren't too many). this is very annoying - how could this happen?
    Thanks,
    Scott

If your server doesn't like spaces in file names, it's likely due to HTML address rules. However, these files won't be linked via HTML, but through the AuthoredContent.xml file directly into the SWF playing in the Flash player, which doesn't have the same limitations as HTML.
If your server is kicking a fuss up about this, replace the single space character in the PNG filename with an underscore character (do this at file system level), then edit the AuthoredContent.xml file and replace the space character in the PNG filename with an underscore character. Save everything, and then upload the files in the same hierarchy that Encore exports.
    That should do it.
