"Run As Administrator" issue Ill CC 14

I'm using Illustrator CC 14 on Windows 7. About 2ish weeks ago I got an error that I need to run Illustrator as Administrator. I've attached the exact error.
Illustrator still functions properly, but the error before is annoying.

Hi BinghamTheMan,
This message is shown by Ai if a prvious version of Ai is uninstalled after installing the current version. Ai tries to see if file association and required registry settings for executing vb scripting are correct or not on every launch and gives you an option to correct it and for that Admin privilege is required.
Have you tried running with Admin privilege to fix these registry issues.
Sanjay.

  • I have tried the following, "netsh winsock, reset", but I get a message that says the required operation requires elevation run as administrator . this is my laptop and I am an administrator, please help , itunes store is the only program i have issues

I get a message that says, the required operation requires elevation <run as administrator>. I am the owner of this laptop and I have administrative authority, why does this show and how can I fix this. Itunes store is the ONLY program I am having trouble with.Very , very frustrating.!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I will assume you're using Windows Vista-7:
    Try these steps instead:
1 Click start, and in the start menu search, type "cmd" (without the quotes) DO NOT PRESS ENTER!
    2. Right click the "cmd" search result
    3. Click "Run as Administrator"
    4. If you get a pop up message, click yes or continue
    5. Type the command in the window as you did above.
In an effort to try to prevent programs from messing with your computer, programs don't run under your administrator account unless you tell them to or they ask. This gives the Administrator (elevated) privelleges that you need.

  • How do you get to the DOS prompt so that you can type in the info to help get into itunes store???  One post said search cmd, right click, run as administrator but where is the search cmd??

Have been struggling for days trying to get into the itunes store.  Have contacted support with no help.  I have been reading how some have typed something into a DOS prompt and have resolved their issues.  One stated to "search cmd, right click, and run as admininstrator" but where is this?  There was also a post about typing something into the DOS prompt....how do I get to this?  Can someone please help??? SOOOOO FRUSTRATING.  Thanks much...Carrie (Mike's wife:))

One stated to "search cmd, right click, and run as admininstrator" but where is this?
In the search field in your Vista start menu, type cmd
Next, right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".

  • Why does Photoshop CS5 require me to run as Administrator?

I just installed a fresh copy of CS5 64 bit Extended Student and Teacher edition obtained direct from Adobe.
It installed fine and for the first ten or so times I used it it started without any difficulty.  This morning it is refusing to start with an error message "could not open scratch file because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access priveliges'.
(The first thing this morning it installed some updates - don't know if that has a bearing on the problem)
I CAN start it if I right click and 'run as administrator', but then the UAC dialog box comes up asking me to allow changes to my computer.
I have only on account, and it is an administrator.
I installed CS5 while logged in as administrator
I am logged in as administrator when I try to run it
If I look at the shortcut, it appears I have full access.
I changed my scratch disk location so it is not on my boot drive.
I believe I have the latest updates
I am running WIndows 7 64 bit, and the CS5 install was the 64 bit version.
While this may be a WIndows 7 issue, I don't understand why, if I am logged in as administrator CS5 won't start without the UAC nag dialog box. Is is something to do with it being the student edition?
    Thanks in advance,
    Henry

Welcome to the joy of Windows UAC.
Even though you are logged-on using an account in the Administrators group, you are not normally running applications as an Administrator.
Therefore, if your permissions aren't set up properly to allow read-write access to the root folder on your scratch drive, Photoshop will not be able to access that folder.

  • Logon with Virtual Smart Card Breaks Run As Administrator

I've been testing the Virtual Smart Card (VSC) capability on a Surface Pro 2 and Dell Latitude E7240.
This may be by design however, I have noticed that if I login using the VSC I am unable to use "Run As Administrator" functionality - for example:
    Command Prompt from Start Screen
    Task Manager
I'm prompted for a username / password or the VSC PIN.
In my environment the Administrative user does not have a VSC, so it is a username/password. When using Run As Administrator I'm therefore always entering a username and password.
Once the credentials are entered the prompt goes away but the application never runs.
If I lock/unlock the session and login using username/password for the non-admin user, instead of the VSC and PIN, I am able to elevate using Run As.
I have noticed that I can use the workaround as specified in this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2013976
To work around this issue, start the application using the Run as different user right-click context menu option and select the smart card reader of choice.
Click Start, select Programs, and locate the shortcut item in the Programs menu or the application folder for the application you want to run
Hold down the SHIFT key while you right-click the shortcut item, and select Run as different user.
Enter the username, password and the domain name or choose a smart card logon.
Seems a little odd... maybe I am missing something. If anyone can assist that would be great.

  • "Run as Administrator" not Elevating/Asking for Password properly

I've got a weird issue on a Windows 7 x64 Professional that was installed and distributed (17 times) by someone else. All request to run with Elevated Rights are completely ignored.
When I try to run Programm Elevated with Rightclick->"Run as Administrator" they are instead started as the User I am currently logged in as. I have to manually relog (logout, login) as Administrator in order to do stuff I normally would do with
    "Run as Admin".
There is no UAC question, no Dialog to input the Admins Password/Select the user, no automatic elevation - it just executes as the current user, even if that is a Standart User.
If any process would normally ask for elevated rights (anything marked with the Admin Right Shield thingy in Windows Explorer) it instead runs as normal user and (of course) runs into lack of rights down the road, sooner or later.
Haven't checked how Programms with a Manifest that requires Elevation behave yet, but I guess it is the same.
    Parts that might be relevant:
The UAC is disabeled (set to not ask anything/lowest setting)
Two accounts: Admin Type account named "sheriff" (instead of default name) and Standart User Type account "User". The Guest account is disabeled.
While UAC is off, unless I am very mistaken "Run as Administrator" should still work while logged in as a limited Standart User type. After all it has been around a lot longer then the UAC.
Let's talk about MVVM: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/b1a8bf14-4acd-4d77-9df8-bdb95b02dbe2 Please mark post as helpfull and answers respectively.

Was a while since I posted here and I think I understand the problem a lot better now. Couldn't actually solve my problem (this would require setting the UAC back online wich is explicitly not wanted), but it still might be helpfull for others:
Elevating as Adminsitrator (under Vista and later) needs two Components:
runas - a Commandline Command that has been around since XP and whose sole purpose is to start Programms under other rights then the current user.
In order for it to work the "Secundary Login" Windows Service must be running during Login of the current user. Enabling it or disabling it after a login will have no effect.
And it will fail silently (not telling you it failed).
UAC - normally you need it to surpress the Admin aspect. In my case it was not neded for that from a Security Standpoint. What I have here was a suiteable set of Credentials for Windows XP style Security: limited normal User, Administrator with non-standart
    name and password.
What I would have needed from the UAC (and get on all the other Computers where it is online but we still have limited users) was it's ability to detect wich User to elevate too. The UAC is needed to "Find the Admin". And it cannot do that if set to "not inform".
Under XP the "Run as"-Explorer Option was designed to let you select the user. Always.
Under Vista, 7 and 8 it's renamed "Run as Adminsitrator" and the UAC autodetects wich user to Elevate towards. If the UAC is not running the menu Explorer Context Menu Option, the Runas Modifier for .NET Process and Manifests have no idea wich Usercontext they
should run under. And never even try to elevate.
The only way to elevate on such Computers is to relog as Administrator or use Runas on Command Line with explicit naming of the User you want to use.

  • ITunes 10.5 will only run as Administrator, Windows 7

I have seen numerous threads on this but none of the proposed solutions work.  I can get iTunes 10.5 to run, but only when using "Run as Administrator".  I should not have to do that to run iTunes each and every time.  I've done everything short of reinstalling Windows and I'm not going to do that as the PC runs perfectly fine except for this one issue.  Without running as Adminstrator, when I go to run iTunes it just flat out refuses to run with no error message provided.
Also, with iTunes running as admin, it steals the IR remote commands "Stop" and "Skip" and blocks Windows Media Centre from being able to use those IR commands.  I am guessing that part of this is because iTunes is running as admin.  I've never had any of these problems with previous versions of iTunes.

I agree. I am having the same issue.
Stop, Skip forward and Skip backwards buttons appear to be stopped until I kill itunes.
Other issue is that itunes keeps re-spawning due to the recent changes to wifi sync. Had to kill the itunes helper service to stop this re-opening.
I have noticiced that it is particularly bad when itunes throws an error (unable to sync) and that then it captures the input destined for Windows Media Centre (Windows 7 on a Home Theatre PC)

  • Java Access Bridge and Windows 7 Run as Administrator Mode

I've had to add java access bridge support to a winforms .net application. The application must be run as administrator for certain functions to work on Windows 7. Unfortunately, I've found the JAB breaks when it's run from a program that has been elevated to administrator.
I'm able to reproduce the issue with JavaFerret.exe. Running with a simple double click has no issue tracking mouse events etc, but if I start it via right click "run as administrator" then nothing gets presented in the output window. Can others confirm JavaFeret.exe breaks for them as well in Windows 7 admin mode? Any ideas what's going on and how to work around the issue?

So after a bit of experimenting we've found that as long as the accessibility program that's hosting the JAB and the java program that is being interacted with are both run in administrator mode then the issue goes away.
In our case we were able to launch IE from the accessibility program (which was already in administrator mode), opening the java applet in IE and successfully use the JAB between the two.

  • Is it can grant an admin right for special application ?(No Runas as Administrator)

    Dear All
Background: We have an application which run on users group in server 2000 SP4 is normal.
We want upgrade the OS to Win7 , on the Win7 the application can not launch on normal users group.
I was try the properties of compatibility to server 2000 and choose "Run this program as an administrator" and edit the regedit key permission , both of all is not work on my case.
It is ok right-click the application and runas as administrator, but on the other hand I find runas administrator has some other error with the application.
May I know is it has a method can grant the admin right to special user when running special application ?
    Regards All

    Hi,
What application can not run in Windows 7? I think there is a application compatibility issue, so please attempt to run Program Compability troubleshooter.
Also, you said you got some error while you ran as administrator with runas command. And what are the errors?
    RUNAS /user:<Username> Program
Based on my knowledge, we cannot grant the special user with admin right unless you add this special user to Administrators group. When a special user is running a application requiring administrator permission, it will prompt to input administrator username
    and password.

  • How to remove 'Run as Administrator' requirement from compiled LV app

I'm building an appication that, when run on Win7, will not work properly unless
you right click and select 'Run as Administrator'.  Is there a way to build it so
    that this can be avoided?
I am using LV 8.2 Professional.

I think I may have found the issue...  my application tries to create a file in the local directory, which in this case is within the Program Files folder.
I will see if I redirect it to C:\temp or something...  perhaps then it won't require running as administrator.

  • Run As Administrator Firefox will not open links in emails

When Firefox is opened with Run As Administrator links in emails will not open. Is this normal?
    Using W7 Firefox 23.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * Open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''

My outlook not working properly when I started normally.
What's the exact symptom when you start Outlook normally?
Since you have detected that Outlook works well under safe mode, try to disable the add-ins one at a time, then restart Outlook (not in Safe Mode this time) to check behavior.
Repeat the steps until you find out the faulty add-in.

  • Creative Cloud will only "run" when started in "Run as Administrator"

For some reason, sometime in the past month Creative Cloud will not give me access when started from any of the normal methods; the Task bar Shortcut, the Start Menu shortcut, or even directly from double clicking on "Creative Cloud.exe." It starts in the background but does not appear on the monitor. This is confirmed with Task Manager. I have found that if I use Task Manager to "End Task," I can start the program (from any of the above methods) by choosing "Run as Administrator" and it appears on the monitor and I have complete access.
Today, I updated to the newest version and the situation remains the same (except, that before I did not have to "end Task" in Task Manager prior to "Run as Administrator.)
What is causing this and how do I fix it?

I tried every solution I found online suggesting deletion of apps, fresh installs, deletion of folders, permission changes, etc. I finally had an hour long chat session with an Adobe tech who had me do much of the same thing again, only to have the issue remain.
Here was the end solution which worked for me:
    1. Create a new Admin account
    2. Log out of your computer, and then back in under the new admin account
    3. use the Creative Cloud uninstaller app to uninstall CC desktop. (Doing this prompted an alert message telling me I couldn't do this because some CC apps required it. So, I deleted the 2 CC apps I had installed, Lightroom and Photoshop)
    4. After the uninstall completes, install a new copy of CC desktop. (Once I did this, it opened and ran correctly.)
    5. Log out and log back in under your usual account.
    6. If CC desktop doesn't start on its own, double click the application itself to start up.
After completing step #6, CC desktop started up on its own. I re-downloaded Photoshop and Lightroom through CC and all is working normally so far.
