Run big report in PDF hangs though the PDF file was created in server

When running Oracle reports6i big master-details-details report(220 pages) in PDF format thru report server CGI on Netscape Enterprise Web server, it hangs. But the pdf file was created when checking in the server and is good when it's viewed directly using IE. Also checked the http://domain_name:8083/cgi-bin/reportcgi/showjobs?server=repsrv, the Job Status was 'FINISHED'.
The HTTP_error_Log in the server is:
[17/Feb/2004:13:31:42] failure (28995): for host 63.237.37.70 trying to POST /cgi-bin/reportcgi, cgieng_scan_headers reports: the CGI program /usr/netscape/elecprod/cgi-bin/reportcgi did not produce a valid header (read failed, error is Resource temporarily unavailable).
Please help as our users demand it urgently.

1) This bug734197 is fixed in version 3.0.5.13.0, which means it should be available in 6i (the version you are using) also. But from the bug description I see that it is reproduced with Reports 6.0.5.28.0 version also. If your reports 6i version is higher than this, it may contain this fix. Best thing is to apply the latest patch. The patches should be available in metalink (metalink.oracle.com) .
2) For troubleshooting purposes run the report in html/rtf and see whether it times out. ( just to see whether
this is a PDF specific issue)
3) Disable acrobat web integration (in Adobe acrobat settings) and try . This will prevent Acrobat reader from opening the pdf automatically and instead will show a dialog to save the pdf report ( There are some IE - Adobe issues which are not reports bugs).
4) There were some threads some time back which had this problem with long running reports and PDF. Finally it turned out to be webserver timeout problems. Pls see ( this is for 9i servlet and Apache webserver, but for 6i also it could be similar)

5) If these does not work and if you are not able to make further progress, I suggest you to get in touch with Oracle Support (if you have a support contract) to solve this issue. [ If the possibility is that the bug you are mentioning is not pushed forward to 6i (a remote chance) then only they will be able to a get a oneoff patch.]

Try editing the original file. Resample pics to a lower resolution, check out other graphics, check table borders (eliminate any dotted lines or borders), check font usage. When generating PDF, try Save As (instead of Print > Save As), although I don't expect that'll make much difference.
Next, open the PDF in Preview, choose File > Save As, choose Format: PDF, Quartz Filterz: Reduce File Size. If that isn't enough, you can use ColorSync Utility to duplicate the Reduce File Size filter, and then edit it for a more aggressive size reduction. Problem:
when user try to combine multiple PDF files into one file from network drives (hence that user have full permissions), received this error:
"Error (file skipped)
No PDF file was created because Acrobat encountered an unidentified error."
Steps taken so far:
- cleared windows temp files
- cleared acrobat temp files
- tried, same error
- ran acrobat repair, tried it out, same error
- made adjustments to "PDF Printer Properties per this article

- removed adobe acrobat and reinstalled it completely from scratch.
- ran updates
- tried again, no luck.
- granted the user full permission access to acrobat folder under program files, still same error
- then, copied files that I need to convert locally to the system and tried to combine them, it worked!
- its not permission issue as I tried the same from my domain admin account and received the error.
- also the user reported that acrobat takes 15 o 20 sec each time opening a file

If I change the properties to open as administrator, within the program I can combine pdfs over the network drive.
. I can't drag and drop or combine pdfs from windows explorer and everytime I open acrobat it asks if it can make changes.
So it's still best to copy to c drive in order to use Combine and Portfolio features but would be really nice to use as designed.

A lot of the time the files can not be combined because of incompatible fonts, or at least font sets that could not be resolved. Maybe that will give you some direction to look at.

When attempting to merge multiple word documents (office 2010, acrobat 10.1.10) they fail to create a pdf with the error detailed above. No errors are displayed within the event viewer in reference to these failures. The same issue occurs when attempting to right click on a word document and converting it to PDF. Performed repair of Office and Acrobat, did not resolve the issue. Anyone have any additional tips / tricks for getting this to function properly?

The print function works perfectly... the current workaround for the end user is to print the files to pdf, then merge them together (though this isn't viable when wanting to merge 10+ documents due to the time it takes to print each one individually). Merging other documents works just fine... It just appears to be specific to Word documents.

No link after exporting Crystal report as pdf file

          If my Crystal Report contain link to the .avi file saved on the local hard disk and if I export the Report as .pdf file, pdf file does not contain that link. Why?
The overall scenario is like-
My application fires a query on SQL Server database and result of that query is stored in a Dataset. This dataset is set as a datasource to the Crystal report. Now some, records (returned by the query) have .avi files(i.e. Event Videos which are stored on the local hard disk) associated with them. I have stored these .avi files in a specific path on local Hard disk say "C:/EventVideos/*.avi" .   I used a special format in these avi files name. (like - "EventVideo_1.avi" (This is for 1st event), "EventVideo_5.avi" (This is for 5th event)etc. to identify which avi is for which event. All events do not have avi files associated with them)
      Now, I take one object in crystal report. Using it's Format editor created a formula for hyperlink as -
      "file:///c:/EventVideos/EventVideo_" + {DataTable1.EventID} + ".avi" .
EventID is the field of dataset which has ID's (like 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 etc) of all resulted events. It is of a String data type.
     Now when I export, my report as .xls, .rtf, .doc, I can open the avi files. When I bring cursor on this object, cursor get change to Hand and after click on it avi file start to play.
     But if I export it as .pdf, it does not contain the link for avi files. When I bring cursor on this object, it does not change to Hand, and after click on it nothing happens. No video play.
I stick to this problem.

"PDF format is a page-based format. The exported documents are intended for printing and redistribution. PDF format will export both layout and formatting in a manner that is consistent with how the report looks on the Preview tab. PDF format embeds the TrueType fonts that appear in the document. (Non-TrueType fonts are not supported.) This export format does not support Microsoft font-linking technologyu2014which is used to provide support for some extended character sets such as Chinese HKCS. Therefore, the fonts used in the report must contain all of the required glyphs. These URI types are supported for hyperlinks: "http:", "https:" and "mailto:".
Therefore your hyperlink is not working as u are using File type when cr only supports http https and mailto uri types

A PDF file was filed in documents. when trying to move this file to trash i got response : operation can't be completed because the itempdf is in usen

How do I get this document deleted from the system?

The suggestion to move items from documetns to desktop and then moving to trash is the one that worked.
I have now one other question and that is that during my strugle with the original problem I called with Apple helpline and there they suggested to move the application "Preview" to trash and then the issue would be solved. I did so but clearly the issue was not solved.
Bottom line is that with your solution I got rid of the PDF files, but I still need to reinstall the Preview application. Do you have suggestions how to do that??

There's a good chance the file is corrupt. As whomever sent it to you to verify it opens on their end.

That looks like the logic which was written into the VI
Inner true/ false case:
(file exists : false) write to XML file, unflatten for display
(file exists : true) read from XML file, unflatten for display
At no time when the file exists (true case) is the XML file updated...

Debugging: Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'LoggerThread' was corrupted.

I am getting:
Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'LoggerThread' was corrupted.
I have searched as much as I can for a description of how to diagnose, but I have not found anything. I don't know how to determine the specific address that is being corrupted. If I knew that, then I could of course set a breakpoint on the condition of that changing.
I have found many answers about other instances of this error, but nothing that descibes how to diagnose this problem. All other problems were simple enough that the problem could be determined by looking at the code. I have looked at my code extensively and I don't see a problem. One of the previous answers I have found is Error: Stack corruption around the variable 'tm' but the current version of the program uses only default alignment.
This particular problem is a symptom of a problem that has had various other symptoms, most of which would be more difficult to diagnose. Therefore the problem is probably more subtle than most. I initially encountered the problem in a DLL project, but I wrote a console program to use and test the relevant code. It is the console version that I am debugging.

Note that the addresses decrease. If I create a breakpoint using "{main,,} *(Local-256)" for 256 elements, then that breakpoint breaks constantly due to normal use of the stack. That makes debugging more difficult; are you aware of that problem?
Unsurprisingly the debugger will watch for modifications of 256 bytes if you tell it to do so. But I don't see why you would want to do it? It is obvious that this extends into callee stack space. There are only two bytes that you should be interested in: the one before the clobbered local and the one after. Of course, during its lifetime its allocated address will never change. And in debug stack frames its memory location is never shared with any other code. Any modification to it indicates a programming error.
Also, do note that scoped data breakpoints have had some performance problems. Again, if you care about performance calculate the address manually and set a data breakpoint without a C++ scope and make sure you don't exceed the number of available hardware watchpoint registers (IIRC there are 4 HW breakpoint registers which can watch 1,2 or 4 bytes at a given (aligned?) address). With HW watchpoints you shouldn't see any performance degradation.
