  • Please help me to debug a bug for instant client on linux x86-64

    I am a c junior programmer, I wrote a c demo based on <Call Interface Programmer's Guide>,but i found failed sometimes and successful somtimes when i run my demo on linux x86-64.
    I wondered why it was failed sometimes and successful sometimes, so i used command strace to debug my demo.
    I found my demo was failed when called function getsockopt  whose third argument was negative. The following code:
    getsockopt  (5, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, [-8683868481690533888], [4]) = 0
    my demo run successful when the third argument of function getsockopt was positive.The following code:
    getsockopt(5, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, [4636081913715490816], [4]) = 0
    I downloaded rpm package of instant client for linux x86-32 and installed, the same demo worked perfectly on linux x86-32.
    Did instant client for linux x86-64 has a bug?
    any advise would be great.
    Thank you!

    thanks.
    I have solved this problem that result in my c demo.
    I was a wrong way to use this function OCIBindByName. I ignored it's Indicator Variables must be 0 , -1 or -2.

  • Known issue: Speech APIs fail when an x86 package is run on an x64 desktop (Windows 10 Insider Preview SDK and tools, April 2015 release)

    When building an app for the x86 platform, speech APIs fail when the x86 package is run on the desktop of an x64 system. You may see an error with the message "mod not found".

  • Can I run 32 bit version of Oracle 10g grid  on Linux x86-64?

    Since Oracle did not release 64 bit version of Oracle 10g grid for Linux X86-64. Can I run 32 bit version of Oracle 10g grid on Linux x86-64? If so did anyone tried this? and also any known issues?

    All I had to do was use the 32bit version of "/usr/bin/gcc" and "/usr/bin/g++" to run the installation
    That is:
    bin]# cp -p /usr/bin/gcc /usr/bin/gcc_old
    bin]# mv /usr/bin/gcc /usr/bin/gcc323
    mv: overwrite `/usr/bin/gcc323'? y
    bin]# ln -s /usr/bin/gcc296 /usr/bin/gcc
    bin]# cp -p /usr/bin/g++ /usr/bin/g++_old
    bin]# mv /usr/bin/g++ /usr/bin/g++323
    mv: overwrite `/usr/bin/g++323'? y
    bin]# ln -s /usr/bin/g++296 /usr/bin/g++
    AFTER INSTALLATION REMEMBER TO
    move back the 64bit files to their former state.
    bin]#rm /usr/bin/g++
    bin]#rm /usr/bin/gcc
    bin]#mv /usr/bin/gcc_old /usr/bin/gcc
    bin]#mv /usr/bin/g++_old /usr/bin/g++

    it has to be a bug or something. why you have to set DISPLAY if you were running dbca locally on server side xterm?
    plus, the error message is not that explanatory

  • OCS 10G running on Linux x86 32 bit  vs. Linux x86 64 bit OS

    We have Red Hat Linux R3 64 bits OS running on a x86 machine, we plan to install OCS 10G R1 on that machine. The OCS R1 media set I curently have is for Linux x86 32 bit, is it possible for 32 bits OCS running on 64 bit OS? Do we need to re install Linux 32 bit OS on that machine? Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jinsen

    Thanks for the response....
    Does this mean Peoplesoft cannot be installed and function in 32bit environment.
    I ask this because i currently do not have access to a 64bit environment and I'm trying
    to get a (local) PS application installed so that learn more about Peopletools and development.
    If I definitely need to upgrade/invest in a new machine, I will, I'm just trying to avoid if possible.
    thanks again

  • TimesTen Release 11.2.1.8.0 (32 bit Linux/x86): PLSQL_MEMORY_ADDRESS

    Hi!
    I am trying to setup TT 11.2.1.8.0 (32 bit Linux/x86) with jboss-4.2.3.GA using JRockit JVM. The problem I get is:
    TT8517: Cannot attach PL/SQL shared memory; PLSQL_MEMORY_ADDRESS not valid or already in use -- file "db.c", lineno 9856, procedure "sbDbConnect")
    I am aware of this issue with jrockit and as in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/timesten.112/e13080.pdf:
    JRockit on 32-bit Linux allocates a default heap that is 50 percent of available
    physical memory up to 1 gigabyte. Users of JRockit on 32-bit platforms may need
    to choose a value for PLSQL_MEMORY_ADDRESS other than the default
    +(10000000). Consider values such as B0000000, which ensures that the PL/SQL+
    shared memory is not part of the JRockit heap.
    So I added to sys.odbc.ini the following line:
    PLSQL_MEMORY_ADDRESS=B0000000
    and also in jdbc url same line. I still get:
    [STDERR] org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory ([TimesTen][TimesTen 11.2.1.8.0 ODBC Driver][TimesTen]TT8517: Cannot attach PL/SQL shared memory; PLSQL_MEMORY_ADDRESS not valid or already in use -- file "db.c", lineno 9
    In ttmesg.log I found corresponding log:

  • 10g1 Linux x86 silent install  orapwd remote_login_passwordfile  ORA-01031

    I have completed a silent install of 10g1 EE on Linux x86 followed by emca on command line, executed orapwd to create orapwdSID file in $ORACLE_home/dbs with password for sys, set remote_login_passwordfile =EXCLUSIVE, am able to sqlplus connect / as sysdba on the server, but still get ORA-01031 insufficient privileges when logging in through OEM.
    I have read an awful lot of posts about this. I am not in a position to use a DBCA GUI installation.
    Any thoughts?
    Peter

    there is no line in my sqlnet.ora for sqlnet.authentication_services
    I added your suggestion
    sqlnet.authentication_services= (none)
    still got error 01031
    but did find that I had named the orapwd file incorrectly as orapwd<sid> instead of orapw<sid>
    I also found that trying to register a sys password containing an @ seemed to confuse the orapwd utility no matter whether I enclosed it in double quotes or not
    so my workaround was to alter user sys identified by dummypassword
    and then run orapwd using dummypassword
    finally alter user sys identified by "mydesiredp@sswd" using doublequotes to escape the @
    which successfully updates the orapw<sid> file
    thanks for your help and suggestion
    Peter

  • Oracle E-Business Suite Certification on Linux x86-64

    Hello all,
    I have some questions about certification for Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 on Linux x86-64.
    I have two 64-bit servers and intend to do a split configuration.
    From the certification (Certify/View Certifications by Product/E-Business Suite/E-Business Suite 11i and Earlier/Platform Selection: Database Tier Only) I understand the following:
    I must have the Application Tier running on Linux-x86 and the Database Tier may be either on Linux-x86 or Linux-x86-64.
    Is this correct?
    Should I install RHES4 for 32bit on the Application Server and RHES4 for 64bit on de Database Server?
    or
    Should I install RHES4 for 64bit on both servers and install the 32bit Applications software on the Application Server?
    How should I ask for the software I need? From the E-Delivery web site I don't have the 64bit option for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10.2.
    Is EBS allways for 32bit no matter the OS ?
    Thank you very much.
    Catalina.

    Re: Oracle Application 11.5.10.2 installation on Linux AMD 64

    Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10.2.
    Is EBS allways for 32bit no matter the OS ?It is always 32-bit but it could comes in 64-bit for the database part. You would find such a media for Solaris for example "Oracle® Applications 11i Release 10.2 for Solaris Operating System (SPARC 32-bit) with Solaris Operating System (SPARC 64-bit) Oracle® Database" but not for Linux Intel 64-bit.
    Just get the media for Linux x86, install it, then consider having Oracle 10g 64-bit on the database tier.

  • 10g R2 dbca fails in Solaris 10

    Hi,
    I am facing the following problem in Solaris 10 SPARC 64 bit machine.
    1.     Downloaded Oracle 10g R2 installable from oracle
    2.     Created user oracle and group dba and modified project settings and permissions as per quick installation guide
    3.     Installation of software is successful. But dbca fails with following error message.
    ORA-19624: operation failed, retry possible
    ORA-19870: error reading backup piece /vol1/ora10gr2/product/10.2.0/Db_1/assistants/dbca/templates/Seed_Database.dfb
    ORA-19587: error occurred at reading 0 bytes at block number 1
    ORA-27091: unable to queue I/O
    ORA-27067: size of I/O buffer is invalid
    4.     I also tried creating scripts using dbca and running it manually. It fails with following error message in trace file
    Corrupt block 1 found during reading backup piece, file=/ora10gr2/ora10gr2/product/10.2.0/Db_1/assistants/dbca/templates/Seed_
    Database.dfb, corr_type=3
    5.     Creation of custom database also fails with similar error message
    It is Solaris 10 (Solaris 10 11/06 s10s_u3wos_10 SPARC) machine with patch level 125100-05 . Please help.
    Regards
    Vijoy

    In both cases, there it is shown a block corrupt for database file 1, that means the install media was originally corrupt and the corruption was at the seed database files.
    Check the media consistency to discover if corruption was originally there. In case it was redownload the zip file for solaris and unzip it somewhere else. Look for the seed database files at the ORACLE_HOME/assistants/dbca/templates and replace them.
    When you created by scripts, ensure the option where the scripts only is selected, do not try to create the database by means of the dbca, run scripts from the OS.

  • License for cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86

    I'd like to do cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86 using gcc (for linux). To do that, I have to copy libraries (/lib/64) and includes (/usr/include) from a sparc machine to my linux machine.
    The compilation will be run on about (up to) 50 Linux machines (by various developers). We also have 3 solaris-10-SPARC machines.
    I wonder if Solaris license allows me to copy the includes and libs to perform compilation elsewhere.
    I also checked "OTN License Agreement for Oracle Solaris", but it looks like Oracle allows for installing "the programs" on up to 3 machines, but I need it on 50.
    Thanks for any suggestions or redirections to a proper place where I can get an answer.
    Marek

    When installing Solaris 10 01/06 on a Dell 1850 I receive an error message during the install saying "no disk found". I assume that the drive/controller is not recognized. The Dell 1850 is listed under the HCL for Solaris 10 10/06. I don't believe I can use the Solaris(TM) Device Driver for the LSI MegaRAID Adapter floppy with 1/06. I dont have any other Solaris boxes up so I cant build a jump start server. Any suggestions?
