Run .exe on mac for free?

hello fellow mac users. is there a way to run .exe's on a mac for free? i have heard of programs that cost like $70 plus a new version of windows, but nothing free. i just recently converted from windows to mac this past summer, and some of the programs that i need are .exe's. please respond, or email me back at [email protected]
iMac Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

WINE is possibly an option, but may not work with all Windows applications.

Boot Camp is free, but does require a full copy of Windows XP SP2.

  • I bought a macbook pro with Mountain Lion installed.  Can I install a copy of mountain lion on my other mac for free?

I bought a Macbook pro with Mountain Lion. Can I install Mountain Lion on my other mac for free? How do I do that? Thanks!

On the bright side, it's only $20.
And I would certainly like to have the ownership (and even a copy of the installer on my archive drive), "just in case."
Here are some questions -- which I cannot test because it's not my situation:
Has anyone acquired a pre-owned Mac with Mountain Lion installed but which shipped with an earlier OS version? For those in that circumstance:
Have you been able to apply Mountain Lion update(s)?
How about reinstall ML with Recovery HD?
After either updating or reinstalling, does ML appear in Purchases in App Store?
    Just curious.

  • Is it possible to use aim with a mac for free?

Is it possible to use aim with a mac for free?

If you mean the application AIM for Mac, it will depend on your download speed.
If you mean "Can I use iChat with an AIM a screen name and does it cost anything ?" then the answer is Yes you can and no it does not cost and there is no download to do.
If you mean "Can I use the AIM service with an @mac screen name and can this be done for free ? " then the answer is again yes.
A trail account cost nothing and will work in ichat after the 60 days is up
A Paid for but Lapsed account will also work in iChat and for this purpose can now be considered free.
As I said and hinted at before your first question does not make it clear what you are actually asking.
The Application AIM for Mac is stuck at version 4.7 and does not do Video or Audio Only chats.
It has things that are useful in tweaking Buddy Lists in iChat but it is not specifically needed to contact AIM Buddies.

  • Can I run safari on, windows for free, on my mac?

I would like to see what some websites look like on a windows pc. Can I use safari with windows, on my mac? If so which one can I get for free? Or do I need to buy windows?

Apple dropped support for Safari for Windows sometime ago.
So it is not worth trying.
    Best.

  • How can i clean up my mac for free

how can i clean up my mac for free

You may find this post helpful 1doran: have problems cleaning up my mac
Read the cautions regarding deleting language resources.
A reliable program that claims the intelligence to automatically discriminate between required and superfluous files does not exist. Such one-size-fits-all "clean up" utilities frequently don't know the difference between required system components and trash, and can easily result in a broken Mac.
If you are running low on disk space you can buy a bigger disk. They are not expensive. In the meantime you can read the techniques here to determine if there are any large files you can safely delete using the tools already built into every Mac, including recommendations for some free utilities you can use to easily identify large files.

  • Update notices never appear in iTunes/Mac for free-with-iPhone 5s apps: Numbers, Pages, or Keynote

When I bought my iPhone 5s, I was given the opportunity to get Numbers, Pages, and Keynote for free. Visiting the App Store on my phone, I downloaded each one of them.
I usually use iTunes for the Mac to manage my iPhone, so the apps were available for downloading within iTunes/Mac after I had downloaded them on my iPhone.
But unlike all of my other apps, I've never gotten a notice within iTunes/Mac that there is an updated version of these three apps. On my iPhone, they show up in the badge and within the app in the "Updates" list. But on iTunes for the Mac, I never see a notice within the Apps section (not even the "Updates" tab of that section, which only lists apps with available updates). All of my other apps that I've puchased or gotten for free appear in the "Updates" tab when a new version is available.
I prefer to do manual app updates on my phone, and I usually use iTunes on the Mac to download updates. But since I rarely look at the App Store app on my iPhone, and never see the update notices appear in iTunes for the Mac.
Please note that I have updated all of the things I mention above: OS X (latest version of Mavericks), iTunes (11.1.4), iOS (7.0.4), and the Numbers, Pages, and Keynote apps. The problem is that the updates for the three iOS apps never appear in iTunes for Mac, unless I navigate to the app page and manually download it.
I'm not sure how to communicate this bug to Apple, if it's something they need to fix; or how to resolve it myself, if it's something I have control over.
    Does anyone have an idea?

oh... then I understood wrong. thanks for the hint. Would be great, when apple would change that... cause Steve said, from now... the pc/mac is just another device in the cloud...
    that would be believable...

  • I cant download ibooks for mac for free

Im trying to download ibooks for mac but i cant, it says i should have OS X 10.7.2, what i have now is 10.6.8. do i have to purchase the latest version and pay $20.99? why i cant download it for free?

yea , after reading lots of discussions about this issue , it looks like its happening with lots of people. they try to read books on their macbook pro and they cant. it looks Apple wants u to buy other devices like ipad in order to be able to read books. and they do that in purpose.  cuz mainly they make money from selling hardware not from selling other products through their website.
cuz it doesnt make any sence to me that u can read books on your iphone and u cannot on your macbook pro!!! this is rediculous!
however, Im buying an Ipad anyway for my daughter and im wondering how i can download and read the book i already purchased  throu my macbook, im i still able to use the same Apple account and download whatever i purchased on other devices?
Actually, Apple makes a nice profit from  songs, video, book, and apps. They also have apps in the AppStore for all of their major competitors in the eBook market some of which do have apps for reading on Mac OSX machines. So, no, it's not about trying to con you into buying hardware.
Yes, if you and your daughter are using the same AppleID, you can share the iBooks on different devices.

  • My bank has offered me Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 for Mac for Free, should I bother?

    Thoughts?
I am a reasonably experienced Mac user, have never had a problem (that I am aware of) with security on my iMac.
I'm erring towards, what's the point, why bother.
But I thought I would throw it out there?
Perhaps another question is, what steps should I ensure that I have done to MAXIMISE the security that is built into OSX?
    I am running 10.6.8
    Thanks,

Don't do any online banking with amounts your not comfortable losing.
Keep the bulk of your funds entirely on your banks electronic systems accessible only in person and transfer as needed to less secure accounts that are on ATM/checking/debit card type accounts.
It annoys my bank to no end that I come in once every month or two to transfer money and gets some cash, but it puts people to work and I don't get ripped off.
If you've read the horror stories I have where people's entire online accounts gets transferred to another country with little enforcement or extradition, you would do the same.
Mac's are a bit more secure than Windows, but it's really just smarter choices playing on Roulete, eventually you play long enough the House takes your money no matter how good your luck or skill is.
So the smart choice is don't play, or only take to the table what your willing to lose.
All your doing with installing anti-virus on a Mac is cleaning the Windows files if you got malware on them, it's not doing you a bit of good.
OS X already has XProtect watching for malicious trojans, and your not a dumb smuck that will install a trojan, so there is currently no need for anti-virus, causes more problems that it solves as Apple changes things all the time, which throws off the anti-virus software and gives errors, false positives or hozes the system, even creates security vulnerabilites!
There is new malware all the time, operating systems are flawed, especially Lion. It's like Apple is capitalizing on all the free security support of the computer community and just throws a unproven OS X version out there and allows it's user base to be guinne pigs.

  • Do I need a new Apple ID if I want iMovie/iLife on my new Mac for free?

Just last month, I bought my new Macbook with Retina. This is my first Mac - previously, I used PC. When I still had my PC, I had an Apple ID for when I used iTunes on there.
I keep reading that new Macs come with iLife, and for a school project, I need a video editing software - in this case, iMovie. I synced my Apple ID with this Mac, and when I go to the appstore, it wants to charge $15 for it, even though it supposedly comes with my Mac purchase. When I looked up how to get it, every other place says that my appstore should offer it, but I don't see it.
Am I doing something wrong, or does the whole "free iLife with a new Mac purchase" thing not apply anymore?

So I managed to talk to someone on live chat support, and a detail I forgot about was that this computer was bought by someone else before me, but returned almost immediately, and apparently the reason why I don't have iLife is because this computer was previously synced with that person's apple ID before they returned the computer.
According to that chat, I am no longer able to get iLife. I'm supposing this is the case, since I looked again through my apps and my appstore and I still see nothing for iLife or iWorks.

  • Accessing other Macs for free?

I have a friend who needs help with his Mac. I can't orally explain how to fix it. Is there any way, without purchasing any applications, to access the computer. If it was a Windows I wanted to access, I could use Remote Desktop Assistant from Mactopia.com, but how do I do it for Mac?
    Answer needed ASAP thanks.

You will also need Chicken of the VNC too. Put the redstone stuf fon your mates machine and then run chicken of the VNC on your computer. Enter your mates IP, obviously you pal will have to either connect his mac directly to the web so you can access it via it's IP or put a port forward in his firewall / nat router.
None of that is too complex so don't panic.
Chicken of the VNC can be found here

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi ..
You can redownload previously purchased apps from the App Store using the same Apple ID on all your authorized Macs for free.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
