Run External Script Failure

How important is it to have the failure branch of a Run External Script node point to somewhere other than the success branch?
We have quite a few scripts built by other people with the success and failure branch both pointed to the next node in the script regardless. Besides the call not recieving the prompts or announcements are there any other consequences to not fixing these?

CVP here:
Interesting technique. I would never do that. I connect the X node to an ICM script called something like SYS_F_RES (system failure run external script) and this sets a call type and returns END if the call comes from the PSTN and Release if the call comes from CUCM (this is CVP). Setting the call type allows a quick WebView/CUIC report check. Bringing all failures through a single script allows a quick check with Monitor.
(PS: I also have similar little scripts/calltypes for Send 2 VRU failure, DN list failure, queue 2 skill group failure.  )
Normally these things only fail in development, when you have the WAV file wrong/missing, the config params wrong. But in production there are the predictable failures (max no entry, max no match) you need to deal with correctly.
I suggest you fix them.

Geoff

    You have media fetch error,the URL being formed is below:
    file://../MediaFiles/en-us/app/Welcome.wav
    should be something like http://x.x.x.x/en-us/app/welcome.wav
    also please share your full CVP logs for the call.
    it is always annoying to see b2b user agent is not configured, so please configure ringtone and error label to sent to proper VXML gateway.

  • Using Run External Script in ICM

    Hi all,
    I am using IPCC enterprise 7.0, during my development on ICM scripting. I am using "Run External Script" to execute IVR script. So my problem is that, any change / update used in IVR subflow will not be effective in ICM until I restart the CRS engine. Which means, the ICM is still running on old IVR script.
    Could anybody advise it? Is it possible to flush the IVR caching?
    Thank you for your attention.

  • Aborted calls at run external script step

    hello everyone
    when I was monitoring a script, I noticed a large percentage of calls are aborted on the node " run external script", and a few number of calls listed as " in process". only a small percentage of calls passed this node.
    I would like to ask what does this "abort" means, does it mean the the call fails at this node, or the caller purposely terminate the call at this node.
    thanks in advance

    Hi, David
    thanks for replying me back
    we are using IPIVR instead of CVP and system was under a really heavn load.
    one RES was just simplely playing a prompt
    Unfortunately some how, I couldn't get the log from IPIVR.

  • CVP 8 - Run External Script Fail, CED = none

    Good afternoon.
    ICM 8.5.4, CVP 8, SIP
    Situation:  Caller presses 2 for spanish, stays on line for english.   In Network VRU settings, there is no config for  "stay on line"..   in CED node, the NONE option does not work, the call fails out the X branch of the Run External Script node, which I can route off of, with error codes, but this is generating a ton of data in the error logs.
    We'd like to not have this.  Does anyone have work arounds?  Why doesn't the NONE option work?  (or any of the NONE options... I have tried them all.)

    Hi Cheril,
    NONE option does not work, unitl you connect the X branch of the Run External Script node to CED. If you want None option to work on the CED node you must connect the X branch of Run Ext. Script to CED node and then add a case with none option. I have tested the same its working in lab. Please find the attached screen shot for your reference.

  • Trying to run external script using Runtime.exec

    Hey,
    I am trying to use Runtime.exec(cmd, evnp, dir) to execute a fortran program and get back its output, however it seems to always be hanging. Here is my code snippet :
                Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(
                      "./fortranCodeName > inputFile.txt" , null, new File("/home/myRunDir/"));
                InputStream stream = new InputStream(process.getInputStream());
                InputStream error = new InputStreamr(process.getErrorStream());
                BufferedReader stdoutReader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(stream));
                BufferedReader erroutReader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(error));
                System.out.println(stream.available());  //returns 0
                System.out.println(error.available());     //returns 0
                while (true) {
                    String line1 = stdoutReader.readLine();  //hangs here
                    String line2 = erroutReader.readLine();
                    if (line1 == null) {
                        break;
                    System.out.println(line1);
                    System.out.println(line2);
                }I know for a fact that this fortran code prints out stuff when run it in terminal, but I don't know if I have even set up my Runtime.exec statement properly. I think I am clearing out my error and input streams with the whole reader.readLine bit I have above, but I am not sure. If you replace the command with something like "echo helloWorld" or "pwd", it prints out everything properly. I also am fairly confident that I have no environmental variables that are used in the fortran code, as I received it from another computer and haven't set up any in my bash profile.
    Any Ideas?

    Okay, so I implemented the changes from that website (thanks by the way for that link, it helps me understand this a little better). However, my problem is still occuring. Here is my new code:
                class StreamThread extends Thread {
                InputStream is;
                String type;
                StreamThread(InputStream is, String type)
                    this.is = is;
                    this.type = type;
                public void run()
                    try
                        InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is); //never gets called
                        BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
                        String line=null;
                        while ( (line = br.readLine()) != null)
                            System.out.println(type  +">"+  line);
                        } catch (IOException ioe)
                            ioe.printStackTrace();
            try {
                Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(
                      "./fortranCodeName" , null, new File("/home/myRunDir/"));
                StreamThread stream = new StreamThread(process.getInputStream(), "OUTPUT");
                StreamThread errorStream = new StreamThread(process.getInputStream(), "ERROR");
                stream.start();
                errorStream.start();
                int exitVal = process.waitFor(); //hangs here
                System.out.println("ExitValue: " + exitVal);

  • Trying to run external dbs script from PERL

    I am trying to execute a simple statement from inside a DBI connection of PERL. Here is the statement:
    $dbh = DBI->connect("dbi:Oracle:${service}","${owner}","${owner}",{ RaiseError => 1}) || die "Database connection not made: $DBI::errstr\n";
    $sth = $dbh->prepare("\@c:\\perl\\scripts\\test.sql");
    $rv = $sth->execute;
    while ( (@row = $sth->fetchrow_array) ) {
         print "row=@row\n";
    The error I get is invalid sql statement
    Its on a Windows box and I can't figure out how to call an external script to run in Oracle. If anyoen knows, it would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    $sth = $dbh->prepare("\@c:\\perl\\scripts\\test.sql");You can't prepare a SQL statement like this. This is not sql statement. It's rather a way of sqlplus calling external script file. A SQL statement is something like
    select user from dualIf you want do this, maybe it's better just
    `$ORACLE_HOME\bin\sqlplus -s user/pass@tns @c:\perl\scripts\test.sql`

  • Media file path in IP IVR - Run external VRU script

    Hi all,
    I am configuring ICM script by using run external vru script which is located in IP IVR server. But, I am not sure how pass media file path from ICM script to VRU script.
    Last time, I used  IVR version 7.0. I set the path such as: c:\MediaServer\english. Now, I am running IVR version 10 with en_US language.
    Any advise?

    I have a simple custom script which is

    Hello Verdulken,
    I have a few additional questions:
    Does your application function correctly when running the LabVIEW operator interface you have created as a VI in the LabVIEW development environment (i.e. does this problem only occur when the LabVIEW operator interface is run as an executable)?
    What is the error that you are receiving?
    Regarding the VI that you open programmatically, do you open it in a visible manner (i.e. use the Show front panel when called option from VI Properties)?If so, do you also close this VI after it finishes (i.e. use the Close if originally closed option from VI Properties)?
    Does the error occur on the step that calls this very same VI again later in the sequence?
    Does your application function correctly if you use the development adapter for all of your calls?
    Thank you in advance for this information,
    Matt G.

  • Repeated External HD Failure - Please Please Please Help.

    I am running a 2012 Mac Pro with Mountain Lion.
    I have now had 3 external HD failures by it ejecting itself and never mounting back again.
    All 3 External HD's have been used for my archiving my photo's and Lightroom Catalogs.
    My current set up is running 3 HD's at once via a USB Hub, (1) Photo HD, (2) Back Up HD and (3) Time Machine HD. All 3 HD's are the same brand and model.
    My Backup and Time Machine HD's are all fine and have never been a problem.
    My Photo HD has failed 3 times. It ejects on it's own accord and then never mounts again. I do back up the files to my Backup drive so I have only lost a few days work, but WHY is it this same drive set up continues to eject and then never mount again. As it has happened 3 times, each time I have had to put in a brand new drive back in, I am totally confused and completely fed up with it all. Why is it only my photo drive that fails and dismounts.
    I have backup my HD to my Backup drive and also to Crash Plan so not data has been lost, but WHY is it happening and to the same drive set up only.
    If anyone has any suggestions why this is happening and better still a way to resolve it I would be eternally grateful as I am now worried about losing my photo work.
    Regards
    Matt

    Wow. This sounds nasty. I don't want to lose photos either, so even though I don't have any ideas on the root cause, maybe I can help to make sure your photos are safe.
    I also have a Mac Pro - it is the tower machine, right - not a laptop MacBookPro.
    You are using an external USB hub? Why? Do you not have enough ports on the machine itself. My machine is fairly old, but it certainly has enough ports for this many external disks.
    Why are you using USB disks? Macs tend to like Firewire better, which is what I use almost exclusively.
    How many disks do you have inside the computer? Are all 4 internal disk bays full? If not, I'd suggest adding an internal disk for the master copy of your photos. It is faster than an external disk anyway, and likely more reliable.
    I recently just purchased a USB3 card for my Mac Pro. Your's may already have USB3 ports. I'm using a 1-TB USB3 disk for my manual backup. I copy the photos from the master to this drive manually, so I know exactly what is on it. Then I keep this very small drive at another location. This is my backup of backups, so even if the Timemachine or other backups fail, I know I have the majority of my photos safe.
    I'll follow up a bit more once I know more about your configuration.

  • Running Shell script from command line

    Hi,
    I am getting a Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: TestRuntime/java error when I run the following code on my linnux box...can anyone please help
    import java.io.*;
    public class TestRuntime {
            public static void main(String args[]) {
                    Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime(); //get runtime information
            try {
                            Process Child = runtime.exec("/usr/bin/ksh"); // execute command
                            BufferedWriter outCommand = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(Child.getOutputStream()));
                            outCommand.write("/home/mypath/tesh.csh");
                            outCommand.flush();
                            try {
                                    Child.waitFor(); // wait for command to complete
                            } catch (InterruptedException e) { // handle waitFor failure
                                    System.out.println("ERROR: waitFor failure");
                                    System.exit(10); // exit application with exit code 10
                    } catch (IOException e) { // handle exec failure
                            System.out.println("ERROR: exec failure" + e);
                            System.exit(11); // exit application with exit code 11
    }

    If I'm reading your code correctly, you're starting a Korn shell session, then executing your C shell script as if you were at at the session window's prompt. If that is correct, you haven't caused your standard out (stdout) to hit ENTER yet. I'm not an expert, but I hope this works for you.
    Your code:
    Process Child = runtime.exec("/usr/bin/ksh"); // execute command
                            BufferedWriter outCommand = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(Child.getOutputStream()));
                            outCommand.write("/home/mypath/tesh.csh");
                            outCommand.flush();I think you need to enter one extra line before the flush():
    Process Child = runtime.exec("/usr/bin/ksh"); // execute command
                            BufferedWriter outCommand = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(Child.getOutputStream()));
                            outCommand.write("/home/mypath/tesh.csh");
                            outCommand.newLine();  // hit ENTER
                            outCommand.flush();P.S. If you're running this script and your Java program from the same UNIX machine, you could just execute the shell script inside the runtime.exec() call.

    I guess you could say Cheetah is in stable release since 2010 as that was when it was last updated. Python has changed considerably since then.
    Pypl.org shows a list of available packages by ascending Python version. By the time one looks for Cheetah support in Python 2.6, it is strictly Linux. In the Python 2.7 section, there is no Cheetah package listed at all.
    In my estimation, development on Cheetah has been abandoned, and it remains incompatible with Python 2.7.2 as installed on OS X. You should abandon Cheetah. Look at Jinja2, or Django.
    OS X still uses Python scripts for some system activity. If the system version of Python gets messed up with an incompatible module, these system python scripts are compromised too.
    Seriously, look at Pythonbrew. It allows you to create full-blown Python installs and switch between versions and virtual environments.

  • Install of Flash 10 failing - "run preflight script" - Mac OS X 10.5.6

    I tried to install Flash 10  - and it asks me to close the "Dashboard Client" of Mac OS X and after I click close on the flash install window, the installation fails. A message says that the failure occurs during "run preflight script" and to contact the software developer.
    Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes or way around it?!

    Got the problem as well, a little bit frustrating, i have the problem with BOTH flash 10 and photoshop elements 3 why isn't adobe willing to help us? I think this is quite dissapointing when you take into account the software costs ±$100 I also have Mac OSX 10.5.7
    HELP?
