Run Java Applet w/o installing JRE
Hi all,
I'm wondering what would allow the client to run the java applet w/o having to install the JRE? I have seen it done but not sure how they did it. I wrote a simple java applet (not even JApplet) and IE said "class not found" until I installed the JRE on that machine. Any tips? Thanks so much in advance.
Looking at your sample, I would say this could run in the old JVM.
You might simply be having problems with the JVM finding your classes - I believe this is specified in the HTML (but its been too long for me to give details).
Also, your Internet Explorer could be looking for a plug-in JVM (I believe this is specified in Tools-Internet Options-Advance menu).
And finally, Windows (XP?) may not have this JVM built in anymore - never could figure out the outcome of the law suite.
Hopefully someone with more recent Applet experience will chime in.

Unable to clear java cache and also unable to load JAVA Applets when QTP installed in PC
Hi,
I am facing a problem when QTP 11.0 along with Java 6 Update 22 and Java Plugin installed in the PC. The Java Applets are not being loaded in the webpages, when I try to load it through QTP, but when I try to load the applets manually that is working fine. Can anyone suggest any kind of solution for this. All the setup was being run on 32-bit and 64- bit PC's.
Thanks in advance,
Waiting for the reply.start the weblogic server with the command startWeblogic. And then start the SOA server from Admin console. This is the issue. For starting servers from console, you need to configure node manager. Start SOA servers from command line using command startManagedWeblogic (as mentioned in Quick Start Guide for BAM server).

Error while running (java -jar orion.jar -install) Need yr help ?
Hi,
I have
Win 2000 Professional
Oracle 9i release 1and have the Pre-Requisites of MapViewer as follows.
OC4J_extended (Pre-Requisite for MapViewer)
XML Parser (Built-in OC4J)
Oracle 9iI don't know whether I have Oracle Client or not which is also pre-requisite for MapViewer ? I think it is built-in with any of the above... most probably with Oracle 9i !!!
I have JDK1.3 as wellI have Oracle9iAS release 1.0.2.2.2a, but I don't want to use it, as I have OC4J standalone...
I want to have the configuration, for using Oracle Spatial/MapViewer.... How can I do that ? I need steps/procedure...
I am having problems in configuring OC4J which I have downloaded. I have unzipped OC4J_Extended in Oracle 9i Database home directory (not in Oracle 9iAS home directory... because I dont have installed iAS)
Its installation guide asks for installation through the following command
java -jar orion.jar -installbut after unzip, I don't get any file named "orion.jar"
What should I do ? Where am wrong ? Should I have to use 9iAS for using MapViewer in any case, if so which version ? I need the heirarchy of steps ?
I m really stucked !!!
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanx
Zaaf.Hi,
If you are just using OC4J, you should only need to do:
java -jar oc4j.jar -install
Also note that you should not install oc4j in the oracle_home
directory. If/when you upgrade oracle to apply patches, etc
it will overwrite/cause problems with your oc4j install if you
put it in the oracle_home directory. Put it in any other directory.
The only part of Oracle9iAS needed to run mapviewer is oc4j.
After that is installed, then follow the instructions in the MapViewer
User's Guide (available on OTN). -
Problems running java applet in 1.4.2
Hi,
I need some help with running an applet in the following environment:
Win 98 ver 2
jre 1.4.2
IE 6.0
My applet runs in AOL within the same environment. However, the one we wrote does not run in this at all. I get the characteristic grey patch. Additionally, even the 1.4.2 test applets do not run in my environment. I get status messages like "load:class LoadUpload_100 not found".
I need to mention that 1.2 applets run in the same environment without any issues.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciate.
Thanks,
Akoul.

Problem running Java applets since Java update 2 (1.6.0_20)
Hi,
Since I upgraded to Java update 2, Java applets started having problems. The most noticeable ones are:
Non-modal windows appear behing the browser Window (tested Safari 4, 5, Chrome 5).
Double buffering not working as usual (slower, white boxes appear when dragging a window, etc.)
Slower rendering in general
The same applications run perfectly using Java Web Start. And they used to work very well also in Java update 1.
The application can be tested here (press ok if a login prompt appears):
Java applet: http://jmap3.k2geospatial.com/montreal_applet/
Java Web Start: http://jmap3.k2geospatial.com/montreal_jws/dockingClient.jnlp
Our applications running in applets use the new plug-in 2 with JNLP files.
Notice the Java startup splash (the animated sun-like logo) is not moving as smoothly as usual. It is very jerky now.
Are these problems known by anyone?
How can I downgrade Java to previous version?
sorry I cross-posted this in Unix forum also. I think it is better here.
Thank you,
Jean-Robert
K2 GeospatialSince the last Java update on mac, all my OpenGL applets stop working and now just shows a white screen on Chrome, Firefox and Opera. They was working well on all browsers (Safari/WebKit,Chrome,Firefox,Opera) just before the update.
The trouble maker seem to be the java plugin 2 and the new offscreen rendering pipeline, as reported by jrhaddad with the disucssion linked to the different Java/OpenGL community forums.
This is a huge regression for me, and I think for all hobbies/ independent developers and all companies who are doing some Java/OpenGL develoment. All our work just stop working since this update.
If would really want to know from Apple if they are working on this problem and/or how this can be solved.
Should this be fixed by Apple with a new java update, or should the various browsers must upgrade their applet support plugins according to the new java plugin 2 changes ?

Java WS tries to install JRE 1.5.0_02
I specified jre 1.4.1+ in the jnlp file. When I start the app with java ws 1.2 and jre 1.4.1 before launching my ap, it asks for permission to install JRE 1.5.0_02. Is this ok? Will it always want to download the latest jre if there is a newer version?
Will that installation succeed in a non administrator account in windows? If it dosn't have any installed jre that matches the specification, it will try to download the latest available that matches.
In you case you specified "1.4.1+"
if you did this without using the href parameter, then it is a java specification version, which can only be 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, or 1.6 - so only 1.5 or later would match. if you wanted it to use the sun 1.4.1 or later, use the hrevfas follows:
<j2se href="1.4.1+" href="http://java.sun.com/j2se/autodl"/>

Cannot Run Java 1.7 Despite Installing
For a certain application, I need to use the Java Runtime Environment 1.7. I've installed the latest JRE from Oracle's website. After this, the "Java" control panel that appears says I only have Java 1.7.0_25 installed. However, when I use the "java -version" command in Terminal, it claims I'm using Java 1.6.0_51.
How can I disable or uninstall the 1.6 JRE, so Terminal will say I'm using 1.7?
Using the latest version of Mountain Lion.
Thanks in advance!Hello,
The bug that is causing this error message is fixed in 8u20. Please download the 8u20 EA. When 8u20 is released you will be prompted to install the final version.
You can find the link to download and more information on java.com: https://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_10_10.xml

Run Java Applet (JAR) in Visual Basic
Hi,
I want to start a java applet within a visual basic form.
One opportunity would be to implement a browser control and load a html file with the applet object in it.
Is there a way to load the applet in VB without a browser control?
Thanks for any tips & hintsOh, I'm aware of this way to start the applet.
That's not what I want to achieve.
I want to have the possiblity to integtrate my applet in a vb application (in a window in the vb app). For example if I would use MDI Forms I want the java applet to start as a child within the main vb window.
I thought of using a browser OCX Control and loading a html which has the object tag with the java applet.
Thanks anyway! -
"Cancelled Opening the Page" when trying to run Java applet?
Hello just a quick question (I didn't know where else to ask) - I downloaded the Safari beta for Windows to try it out. So far so good, but one of the main sites I go to is a Java applet chat - I can load other applets just fine but for some reason this site keeps the gray cup Java icon and the status bar says "Cancelled opening the page". I've tried loading it as a tab, and as the only active window and the same thing happens; I'm unable to load the site. It works fine in other browsers - is this some issue with the beta?
Thank you all for your time and your help...everything is working great now :o)

I conducted a system capability check on the course site I access (Defense Acquisition University) and one of the results indicated that I do not have the capability to run applets (requirements to run all courses). I verified my setings and I do have Java ver. 7 update 45 installed. I verified Safari's security preferences and confirmed that the "Enable Java Script" is checked. I tried configuring the website settings for Java plug-in but cannot figure out how to add url on the configured websites box. Is there any way to enable running applets in Safari? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Applet is signed, but signature not verified. Firefox should ask permission.
If applet is in an html file, permission is requested and all works OK.
If applet is in an xhtml file, it is not recognised. Changing the file extension from xhtml to html restores correct working (but I do need to run these files as xhtml, so that does not solve the problem!)Your Java is very out of date, so please update to Java 7 update 5, and test again.
Then, try Resetting Firefox. [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]
