Run Photoshop elements installed on a XenApp  Server

I tried  running PE 12  with a purchased serial on a XenApp Server and it fails. Once a user logs in gets the message that it is a trial version This error is annoying pretty. Was thinking of getting 50-75 licences. If not will have to stick with GIMP.

When you enter your serial number, you also need to login using your
AdobeId and password (same as what you used to post on this forum).  did
you do this?
Part of activation process in PSE12 is to make sure you remain logged in
using this credential.  As soon as you logout, then the application
becomes deactivated and so you get the message you are describing.
GIMP doesn't require activation but I am not sure what has it got to do
with PSE12.  Did you know that GIMP and PSE are from different
companies?  Don't get confused by the similarities because PSE12 has
more features than GIMP as far as I am aware.

  • Running Photoshop Elements from different boot volumes

I posted this question on the Adobe message board without success. Hopefully, someone here knows the answer.
I have my MacBook internal drive partitioned into 2 volumes, each with a different OS.
I wish to run Photoshop Elements 6 while booted into an OS that is on a partition different from the partition that was used to install the PE application. Has anyone tried that/done that? Or, any suggestions on which library files need to be duplicated to make it work?

I’m not sure what you mean by licensing issues. I do have a license for Photoshop Elements. The problem is that The PE application will not permit me to re-enter the license code when I launch it from a different volume such as virtually all other applications will do.
That is what I mean by licensing issues. Mac App Store apps have their license inside the application bundle that is cryptographically signed. Such a system is much easier to live with than old-school registration systems such as what Adobe uses.
The version of PE that I am using works just fine. It does everything that I wish to do with it and if it has any bugs, I haven’t seen any.
I have that version of Photoshop Elements. I found it pretty flaky even on Mountain Lion. Some parts of it were discontinued almost immediately upon release. I know that its licensing is quite fragile. I once had an installer for another product that corrupted Photoshop. That wasn't really Photoshop's problem, but it is a fragile system. Here is a link to some tips for using Photoshop Elements on Mavericks: http://barbarabrundage.com/2013/10/28/photoshop-elements-and-os-x-mavericks/
The purpose of my post is based upon my desire to run applications from different OS’s on different partitions without re-installing them. I don’t know about applications that I don’t have but all of those that I have tried that exist on my main partition will permit me to launch them from other volumes, that is, all except Adobe Photoshop.
I don't think that is a wise idea. Modern versions of OS X really, really want applications to live inside of /Applications. The operating system heavily caches parts of applications and you could see strange results by running applications installed to any other location.
With older application, especially those that require an administrator password to install (like Photoshop Elements), it simply isn't your decision to make. You can only decide to install it or to uninstall it (if you are lucky). How and under what terms it decides to run is out of your control.
I’ll take a look at your suggestion regarding Pixelmator. If did does everything that I use PE for, without a significant learning curve, I just might say goodbye to Adobe. I assume that iPhoto can use Pixelmator as an external editor and recognize the modifications made by it.
A new version of Pixelmator is due to be released soon: http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/01/23/pixelmator-31-gains-dual-gpu-16-bit-im age-support-with-apples-new-mac-pro-
I bought Pixelmator a long time ago to try to get away from Adobe. I wasn't happy with the early versions. But they kept improving it and it kept getting rave reviews so I went ahead and tried it again after the Mac App Store version was released (i.e. I bought it twice) and I am quite happy with the latest version. I am also a big fan of iDraw. I can't even get past Adobe's recent icons. They are so bad! I'm not the only one that thinks so: http://blackpixel.com/blog/2012/02/adobe-icons-from-an-alternate-universe.html

  • Help! 2006 imac need Mountain Lion to run Photoshop elements

Hi, getting very frustrated : (
Have a 2006 Imac Intel; upgraded to snow leopard last year; now wanted to run Photoshop elements. Imac says NO. We needed Mountain Lion- ordered this online, computer says NO. Need more memory. So have bought and installed new memory (2gb + 1gb). Computer still says no, wont download Mountain Lion.
I just want to use elements!!
Any help appreciated, I'm not that computer savvy
    Thanks : D
    Gareth

The new version PSE will run on OS X 10.7 Lion.
    PSE 12 runs on 10.7- 10.9
Here are the system requirements for OS X 10.7 Lion.
To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended); you can install without Mac OS X v10.6 by using an OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, available on the Apple Online Store
7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
To find out info about your system
Click on the Apple symbol in the upper left of the OS X main menu bar. A drop down menu appears. Click About this Mac. A smaller popup window appears. This gives you basic info like what version of OS X your iMac is running, the speed of your iMac's CPU and how much RAM is installed.
Click on the button that says More Info. A larger window appears giving you a complete overview of your iMac's hardware specs.
Highlight all of this info and copy/paste all of this into another reply to this post, editing out your iMac's serial number before actually posting the reply. This will tell us everything about your iMac so we may begin to help with your iMac issues.
If your 2006 iMac can run Lion then you can purchase a Lion install code here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
Before installing a major systems upgrade, it would be prudent to have a viable backup of your current system and important data in case something should go wrong with the installation.
    Good Luck!

I just bought a new IMac. I have photoshop elements installed on my old IMac and would like to move it to the new one. How can i do this?

Unfortunately, adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 available for download, as far as i know, so your best bet is to either get an usb dvd drive or use an computer with a dvd drive and copy the contents of the pse 6 dvd to somethiing like
a flash drive and then copy the contents from that drive to your new computer.
Do you still have your older mac and it has a dvd drive?
You can share files between the two using airdrop or an ethernet cable.

  • How do I resolve a constant rainbow wheel when running Photoshop Elements 10?

    Greetings,
After running Photoshop Elements 10 successfully for over two years, for the last couple of months I am continually getting a rainbow wheel whenever I am trying to use my PSE 10 software.  It takes forever for the wheel to resolve itself.  I even close down all other programs and only have PSE 10 running.  The performance is terrible.  I am running this program on a Macbook Pro with 4 GB RAM and more than 100 GB free disk space.
Here's what I have done to try and remedy this so far:
    1. Had the Apple technical team run diagnostics on my computer to detect any operating system or hardware issues.  NONE identified.  Also ran Disk Utility and performed a disk cleanup.
    2. Spent a day deleting a bunch of files to free up additional disk space.  Before: 80 GB.  After: 107 GB.
    3. Purchased (2) 4GB RAM sticks and had a certified Apple technician replace my current (2) 2GB sticks with these new ones.  Now running with 8GB RAM.
With all this, I am STILL getting the rainbow wheel.  Has anyone experienced this problem, or does anyone have any suggestions?
Should I uninstall and reinstall the software (Photoshop Elements 10 + Organizer)?  If so, will all my categorized photos, along with caption notes, file notes, and tags in the Organizer be lost with the new installation?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
    G.R. Smith

Go to your username> library and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements < version > Paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements < version > Settings
    com.adobe.Elements Organizer. < version >.plist
    com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer< version>.plist
and any lockfiles with the same names, then go to Saved Application States (at the same level as preferences) and delete any for PSE, then repair permissions and launch PSE again.
To see the User library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the Option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account.

Any article that says you can't run a program in Windows 7 that ran perfectly well in Windows XP or Windows Vista is suspect in it self and should be tossed out of your open window quickly.
Windows 7 is not any different from XP or Vista except that security is much better and the GUI is better but is all XP and Vista behind the hood.  I am running some DOS programs in Windows 7!!! Now this must be magic!!

  • Computer for Running Photoshop Elements 11

Here are the specs for a laptop I'm going to be buying. Please let me know whether it's enough to smoothly run Photoshop Elements 11, 64-bit at a fast yet consumer-level pace. I don't want it to be slow, but I do not need excess power either.
    Here are the specs:
Processor = Intel Core i5-3230M Processor (3.20GHz, 3MB Cache, 1600MHz) with Intel HD Graphics 4000
Graphics = Intel HM77 - Intel HD 4000 Integrated Graphics (WWAN or mSATA capable)
    Memory = 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600MHz SODIMM
Hard Drive = 500GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
Operating System = Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit

Your system info seems to  meets all the minimum system requirement for PSE 11 . See this

  • Can I install and/or run Photoshop Elements 12 Offline (behind Proxy)?

Due to the setup of our network at work, the machine that requires photoshop elements 12 doesn't have internet access.  Can I:
    - Install PS Elements 12 without the internet ?
    - Run PS Elements 12 without the internet.  I also want to ensure that PSE12 doesn't need to "phone home".  I'll need to disable this so the user is never prompted ?
I have internet access on other machines that I can use to activate the key if needed, but consider the computer that requires the software completely offline.
I need confirmation of this from a Adobe rep before I can purchase the software.  Thanks.

PSE 12 requires you to have an Internet Connection at least once when you are installing it so that you can register the product and activate it.  After this process is complete, you don't need Internet connection unless you want to update it on a periodic basis (say once every 6 weeks).  This is only for the updates; So if you are not bothered with updates then you don't need Internet Connection.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Using Adobe Photoshop Elements installed on another volume

I am using Photoshop Elements 6 on a Mac computer running OS 10.9.
I am working on a video project that will not open in OS 10.9. My hard drive is partitioned to include an older Mac OS (OS 10.6) which I boot into when working on the project. This procedure works fine until I need to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to make changes to still photos within the project. The problem is that the Photoshop Elements application that exists within my main hard drive boot volume will not run within the OS 10.6 volume, even though it previously did when OS 10.6 was the current OS.
I get an error message that states that “Licensing for this product has stopped working.” and it says that I need to reinstall the product. For various reasons, I don’t wish to install Photoshop on two separate volumes of the same physical hard drive. There must be a way to make the same application work with both volumes, just as most other applications do. Is there a way to do this?

Here are some excerpts from this web page:
    http://ask.metafilter.com/194687/Unix-vs-Apple-OS
Apple's operating system, which is to say Mac OS X, is actually a specific implementation of UNIX. "UNIX" is a trademark owned by The Open Group, who controls who gets to apply it to their products, based on whether they meet certain requirements (the Single UNIX Specification). Apple got Mac OS X certified a few years ago, meaning that it is actually a UNIX implementation.
Linux, interestingly, isn't a UNIX because it's never been certified by The Open Group and differs in some technical ways from the Single Unix Specification. But from a purely functional standpoint, using a Linux distro probably feels more like a traditional UNIX environment than Mac OS X, mostly because Linux uses XWindows/Xorg in its GUI layer in common with traditional UNIX environments, while Mac OS X has a proprietary GUI (Aqua).

  • Running Photoshop Elements (1) on Windows 8

I'm sure folks by now know that older Photoshop Elements doesn't install on Windows 8.  (I think it's version 1, as no version is given on the package, and I bought it a long time ago from the Adobe store via a friend at Adobe who is not  longer around.)  The installer tells me that it needs at least Internet Explorer 4.  Although I installed a clean copy of Windows 8 64, I still have Windows 7 32 installed, with the original Elements in Program Files.  If I run the old executable, it tells me it can't find the personal information, or something.
My question is:  Are there registry keys and/or files I could copy over to my Windows 8 installation that would let me run my old Photoshop Elements?
I tried copying just the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\1.0 registry key, but that didn't work.
Basically, I don't really want to buy the software again, as I'm just a light user, and I was perfectly happy with the old version, which cost me about the same as the 11 upgrade.
    Thanks.

Okay, now that you got the recommendation for a new product out of the way, please continue with your original thought: Before we go into how you might get pse1 to work on windows 8
I'm in the same boat. New computer, Win8, trying to get PSE1 to install.  My hard drive is 320GB. Every time I try to install, an error message tells me I need IE4.0 or newer. I tried changing compatibility to all the other available (older) options, but still get the same error.
So I'm interested in the secret magic trick to make this happen!
    Thanks.

  • Slow Running Photoshop Elements and Quicken

Recently installed Photoshop Elements 12 on my iMac Mid 2010 model OSX 10.9.4.  Previously ran PE 9 and 11 successfully.  Organizer crashes frequently; works slowly; cannot complete download of large Nikon 14-bit RAW files (24 mp camera) without crashing.  Editor works reasonably well.  Quicken (2011 version) now slowing also.  Have run Etrecheck but unsure how to upload.

AFAIK, Quicken '11 isn't a Mac version. Only Quicken '07 and '15 are Mac versions. Both run w/o issues on my machine.
