Run script after Network turns off

Hi all,
i have a problem with my Network which will not reconnect after suspend or when it is turned off by hardware switch. I already figured out that the problems do not appear when wpa_supplicant is killed right before suspend/hardware switch.
So, what i now want to do is, to kill wpa_supplicant when suspend/hardware switch is used and right after network stops. The Problem is: I have no clue about how to achieve this.
I read a bit about systemd and service-files in the wiki but I'm not really sure how to implement this (especially which targets etc. i should use)!
Thanks for your help!

Not an answer since I couldn't slightly understand what you were saying but considering it is a laptop, and not tweaked for the subject, TLP is a software that can disable and enable your wifi card before suspend, non-activity for a period or enable after waking up, powering on et alii. It has a commenting configuration file and well documented in wiki. Maybe you should try it.

  • Droid incredible network turns off

My network turns off at least once a day. So this means no internet, no marketplace, anything that uses data. Sometimes th phone won't even work. When I go to settings, the network switch says trying to connect but it never does. If I try to hit airplane mode it won't work either. It just keeps trying. The only way to bring it back is to turn it off and back on again. It works to fix it, but what a pain in the butt. Does anyone else have this issue since the 2.2? Any ideas besides hard reset? Really don't want to do that. Dont have any task killers.

Thanks for the post above from tech support, but this issue has not been resolved for me and (frankly) its been driving me nuts.  It seems like a number of other people have been having the same problem.  Here are some of the symptoms I've observed, which I have noticed other people reporting as well:
    *  Periodically, as often as once a day, the mobile network connection ceases to work
    *  No error messages are given; signal strength indicator continues to work and phone calls can be made without a problem
    *  No mobile data connection will work.  E.g. web pages do not load, e-mails are not retrieved
    *  Turning the phone to airplane mode does nothing (the airplane mode indicator does not come on) until after the phone has been reset
    *  Turning the mobile network off and then on again does not fix the problem
The only solution I have found that works is to power the phone off and then back on again.
Following the directions above to update the phone DOES fix the problem, but only because it powers the phone off and on again; it does NOT prevent the problem from reoccuring.
The bottom line is that I need to restart the phone each time this error occurs.  This is not simply a major nuisance, it limits productivity because the mobile network shuts off without warning; e.g. I can have the phone in my pocket for an hour after the network stopped working, and not realize that the whole time, I have not been receiving e-mails sent to me.  This is simply not acceptable for work purposes.
Could someone at tech support please let us know:
    (1) is this a known problem?  is it being worked on?
    (2) is there a fix?
    (3) if there is not a fix, will one be made available, and if so, when?  How will users be told about it?
Thanks for your response.  Frankly, as much as I love my Incredible, I need a phone that works and promptly received e-mails.  I'm not going to wait until a client gets angry at my lack of response to an urgent e-mail-- I am going to break the contract without penalty and switch to a better phone.

  • 27Xi stays on displaying "no source signal" after I turn off my PC or PS4, doesn't enter sleep mode.

I started having this issue a few weeks ago. The monitor no longer enters sleep mode for whatever reason after I turn off my devices connected to it (currently my PC via DVI and my PS4 via HDMI), it turns on and displays a box with "no source signal" and never goes to sleep. Before it displayed a box with "monitor going to sleep" for a few seconds and the panel turned off as the montor entered sleep mode. This is extremely annoying. How do I fix it? What's wrong with it? I already tried a factory reset.

    Hello, try this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

  • Lost applications after PDA turn off

    Hello everyone.
I’m developing an application for TPC-2006 with LV8 and PDA 8 module. I have deployed the application into the device and works fine, however after a turn off the application is deleted from the device. Anyone knows how can I store the application in a non-volatile memory zone? The TPC-2006 has no memory card.
    Thanks

The TPC 2006 has, according to its data sheet, 64 MB SDRAM, 64 MB flash memory onboard, and a CompactFlash memory expansion slot. To me, means that it should behave like other PDAs. I thought I had a similar problem during the first hour of utilisation of my iPaq... until I discovered that the files where saved in the Document folder, while I was searching the Application folder... .
This being said, the TPC 2006 is a National Instrument product and you should obtain a better help from NI engineers !

  • Now wifi will not turn back on automatically in the morning after being turned off all night. Use to be ok before now. Is it the new update 7.1? Help

Wifi will not turn back on in the morning after being turned off all night, it use to work for years. Is it the new 7.1 ?

Yes that what I mean, after the phone has been turned off all night, when I turn it back on the morning the wifi will not turn on by itself. Eventually by turning off and on the main phone switch and the wifi in settings it sometimes come back on! Then I'm ok for the rest of the day even when I leave the house and come back it's ok. Only first thing in the morning, strange that it doesn't wake up like it use too.
    Thank you

  • After the battery run out my iPad turns off

My iPad turns off when the battery run out. Then I plug-in it for recharging. iPad start with Appel sight then switch off again. Then again start with Appel and off again. So it is not stoping on/off and not recharging. The USB cord is good, other devices recharging properly. That to do?

Plug your iPad into the original charger & block in a wall outlet and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, restart it by holding down the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • MBP won't pick up network after being turned off

    Good morning.
My new MBP is working great and I love it. The only thing that I having some problems with is getting it to remember my network connection when it is turned off and back on.
Here's what I have set up. I have a wireless network in my home with WEP encryption and my SSID is not transmitted.
If I go up to the network (antenna) symbol at the top of the screen, click on it and choose other network, enter my SSID and the WEP password, it connects and stays connected.
If I turn off my MBP and then back on either immediately, later in the day or another day, I have to go through this process again. It doesn't seem to remember by settings for my network. My wife's and my daughter's ibooks both remember the settings. Can't think of what I might be doing wrong here.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

The password for the wireless router is out of sync (corrupted). To remedy the situation you can delete the offending keychain item from the system keychain. You can't view the passwords for items within the system keychain, but you can delete an item so it can be recreated.
The trick is to delete the keychain item in the system keychain for the resource that's giving you the trouble, e.g. Airport network password.
    1. Open the Keychain Access program
    2. Select System keychain.
    3. Select the keychain item you want to delete, and choose Delete from the Edit menu (you will be prompted for an admin password).
    4. Restart
    5. Next time you enter the password to access the wireless network (or resource) and save to keychain, the item will be recreated.

  • L305D-S5935 Unresponsive After Display Turns Off

I have a L305D-S5935 running Windows Vista and it becomes unresponsive after the display turns off as set to do so in the power settings.  I cannot push any key or button or move around on the mouse pad to get it to turn back on.  This is very frustrating and the only way to get it to come back on is to to a hard restart.

Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, remove the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections.
    Then reinstall TVAP.

  • Should ClamAV be running while Email & iCal turned off?

I have a 10.6.5 Xserve with errors logged about the ClamAV installation begin outdated. The server incorrectly had iCal server running (but never used), which I have turned off, expecting it to also stop the ClamAV errors. Even after a reset to ensure the new launchd settings were loaded I still receive update errors every 6 hours from ClamAV (while some other ClamAV messages have stopped).
I do not want this machine for iCal or Email serving, so I'm wondering why ClamAV is even running.
Does ClamAV look for updates irrespective of if it's being used, or was it activated by iCal and for some reason hasn't stopped now?
Is it as easy as turning email service on and off?
Should I disable ClamAV in launchd?
    other thoughts?

    Hi,
Clam runs on an OS X server no matter if it it used or not. It doesn't do any harm, so you can ignore it. If you want, you could deactivate it in launchd, should not affect anything else. I'd just leave it there and let it jabber away into the logs...log space is cheap, and the second you will activate/install a service that relies on Clam, you will regret having spent time deactivating it after you spent time until you remember that you deactivated it and reactivated it then...

  • Time Machine Service - Run scripts after backup

I am running Mavericks Server (10.9.5), server version 3.2.2
The server is used as a backup destination for a lot of Macs, and I am trying to create a complementary service that keeps track of all of the incoming backups and logs all backup events.
Is there any way to have a script execute whenever the Time Machine service completes a backup, or for that matter, and way to tell when a backup is running or has completed?
The options I have thought of so far are:
    1. Script that monitors the logs to look for appropriate events
    2. Run script on timer that scans the backup folder and looks for new backups
Neither of these seems ideal to mean, so I was hoping someone might have a better idea.
    Thoughts?

In order to back up the configuration and state of some services the server needs them to termporarily be turned off.  This includes the backing up of Time Machine.
So in order to back up the Time Machine configuration and details about what computers it is backing up where, the server would need to turn off the Time Machine backup service.  But if it's turned off, it can't use it to back things up.
Similarly, imagine you needed to restore the backup.  To view the backups you would need the Time Machine backup service to be working.  But you can't overwrite the configuration and status information of a service which is turned on, because that would confuse the process doing the serving.  But if the process is turned off, you can't use it to restore the backup.
So do what Linc said: use the System Preferences panel to back the computer up, and don't back it up to the same device you're backing up its Time Machine clients to.

  • Where can I download the last version that allows images and java script to be turned off?

Due to my often slow connection I must have the option to turn off "automatically download images" and Java script. Firefox 23 does not have those options. Where can I download version 22 or whatever the latest version is that allowed these options?
    Thanks

The Quickimage add-on doesn't work well at all, it gets stuck in the image off mode and will not switch back even after rebooting Firefox. Version 23.0 of Firefox is also very slow on my computer.
I really need to find an older version of Firefox. Any idea where to download version 22 or earlier?

  • My external hard drive stays on even after I turn off my iMac. Why?

    New 24” iMac (see below)
I have connected my 800 Firewire LaCie 500 Gigabyte external hard drive and it works fine. However, it doesn't turn off after I have turned off my iMac! I used Tiger before this and the very same LaCie external drive always turned off (its blue light would go off).
I am sure that my iMac is Off and is not actually still On.
Please advise, because I am not sure what could happen to my LaCie hard drive if it stays on constantly.
As for the iMac, since the instructions mention turning if off, I figure that turning it off is not harmful. Various people at the Apple Store have told me that keeping the iMac on 24 hours a day is not detrimental to the machine but I am old fashioned, I guess...... with that old fashioned paranoia about letting machines stay on all day. If I am wrong, please tell me.

Dear Dennis at LaCie support: Thank you so much for your reply. I did what you said and did indeed discover that when I unplug the LaCie 500 gig hard drive from my iMac, the hard drive turns off, which proves that there is powering still sent through the FireWire bus. It did not turn off with Tiger on my older iMac (the round white semi-circular base iMac).
BTW: I also have a LaCie 125 gig external hard drive bought several years ago. I am assuming that it has a FireWire which is rated at that 400 rather than the 800 that my 500 gig hd has. Am I right? If yes, then I will look for the cord that matches that hd. I hope that LaCie prints the number on the cord because if not, I will have a hard time.
I do see that on the new 24“ Intel iMac, the 800 port is the one farthest to the right in the back of the iMac, and the 400 port is to the left of it.
Wish me luck. I still have to figure out how I will use the 125 gig. I am now using the 500 gig for the Time Machine backups and the .Mac Backup. Also, other of the usual.
Thank you again,, Dennis. Makes me glad I bought La Cie hard drives.
I hope that the smaller one doesn't fritz up on me, since I bought it several years ago.

  • Lumia 521 battery indicator after a turn off

    hi
i got a nokia lumia 521 a month ago , today i was with costumer support " t-mobile" and they asked me to turn of the phone pull the battery and take the sim card out , so i did , then they asked me to put everything back and turn it on so i did. but..... the phone didnt come up , by hitting / holding the power button , so i thought maybe my battery was very low when i turned it off , so i plugged my usb charger to the phone , now the phone does the following
when i plug the usb to the phone , the phone vibrates then goes to NOKIA then straight to the battery indicator with little red and a flashing on/off charging indicator , when i unplug the usb cable the phone turn off.
is there a trick to fix that ?
    thanks

    Found the problem(S)
Like people on the other website, the issue is the copper piece on the batteryis not contacting with the phone. That's why the battery icon shows only when its plugged in and nothing at all when its not plugged in. All the complaints I read on the internet has just one problem. It just happens I got two on this phone.........
    1) I had to use a tiny needle to bend the copper piece out to ensure its making contact with the phone
    2) after I bent the copper piece, the battery is still not contacting right, (you can't really tell by looking at it, I was just trying everything people were saying on the web. I spent hours on it and I got it !!!)  I had to cut a business card to slide it underneath the battery. (2 business card thick). If u have same problem, u should try one card thick first.
Now the back cover feels like its swelling cuz of the business cards, but comparing to a $600+ phone, this $99 phone I can do everything I need it to, I can deal with that. Just wish I could have found the problem(s) sooner.
Hope this will help people with the same problem
Hey, this really helps, after looking for arkane solutions, I just add a piece of bend paper under the batery and it works... notice something,, the batery used to hace a plastic strip por pulling out.. this plastic strip got unglued so i removed, i see this plastic strip thinkness is needed for the wire copper piece to make contact... terrible design.
    thanks for the advice.

  • Run script AFTER boot

I want to run a non-ending script after boot. And I still want to be able to login. So adding the script to rc.local won't fix my problem since the boot process won't finish so that I can login.
Adding the script to "dillons" cron doesn't seem to work either since you cant specify @boot in it. And setting "* * * * *" will result in 1 minutes wait before the script runs.
Does anyone have any good ideas to solve my problem?

as mentioned you can background it in rc.local, or you can create a custom /etc/rc.d file which will make it a daemon just like any other.  there are templates or just copy some existing simple one.  i created one for dropbox which is available on the wiki if you'd like to use it as a guide.
/edit.  whoops; took too long to craft that response.  ignore me.
