Run the startup script (start and stop) with a user other than oracle

hi
I wrote a script that stops and start oracle. the connection to the db was done : sqlplus "as sysdba".
The script works fine if oracle user runs it. however, I need another user to run this script also. The script does not run with this user even though I added it to the oracle group.
any idea please?

try the -c option with the su like this:
su - oracle "-c scriptyouwrote.sh"

    My MacBook Pro, does not start after pushing start button. The side bar starts and stops at half way.

    Hy myneck,
    Happy Holidays!  The resource below may provide some steps to try if your MacBook Pro won't start.
    Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS1367
    This article discusses what to do if your Mac won't turn on. To differentiate this from a display issue, be sure that when you press the power button:
    You don't hear a startup chime.
    You don't hear any fan or drive noise.
    There is no video on your built-in or external display
    If your computer has power but doesn't display any video, it may have one or more of these similar symptoms when you press the power button:
    You may hear a startup chime.
    You may hear fan or drive noise.
    You may see a light from the Sleep LED (if your Mac has one).
    Pressing the Caps Lock key on the keyboard causes it to light.
    If any of these display-related conditions occur, see Troubleshooting: My computer has no video instead. Otherwise, continue with this article.
    If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
    Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
    If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
    Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
    Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
    If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

    If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).

  • Using the spacebar for starting and stopping a clip does not work

    Hi!
    The spacebar for starting and stopping the playing of a clip in the viewer of a sequence in the timeline has a live of its own. Without changing any setings, it sometimes works, but mostly not. Is there a seeting, I have not figured out yet? While in a session with Final Cut Express, it does not change its behavior. It starts with a working or not working spacebar. The same applies to the arrows to go back and for a frame, or back and for a clip. If the spacebar does not work, the arrows do not work either.

    thanks everybody. But my spacebar and arrow keys still do not work.
    As uggested, I deleted the preferences in the library (which is also what is suggested by fcpbook.com/Misc1.html)
    I am used working with Final Cut for some time now. And just got myself a new iMac and the program. So everything is quite new. I did not change any settings so far.
    The first 2 days everything was fine.
    Then, one day, the spacebar and the arrow key stopped working. Not in the middle of a session, but when I started the FCE new. Inbetween, it worked for some time. Now, the spacebar is gone again.
    It's just the function of playing the clip that does not work. In whatever window (timeline, viewer). The function of the spacebar to make a space (for example in te name of clip or in a text file) works fine.
    I would not mind the spacebar that much, but I miss the arrow keys to go from frame to frame, or from clip. It's strange.

  • Control DC Motor (start and stop) with LabView

    I never used Lab View before. For a project, we have to use Lab View to make a small dc motor (HP:1/2, RPM 1725) start, and stop. I have no idea how to do this. Any advice/help anyone? Any tutorial or vi. would help!

    Hi there,
    Search for “H-bridge” for a common DC motor control circuit, the input terminals from the bridge can be controlled using any DAQ device with digital output lines from LabVIEW. For example: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-17062

  • Read Historical Trend VIs do not return all of the data between start and stop.

    My Main.vi manually writes data to Memory tags in DSC. If my Main is running, calls to Read Historical Trend.vi and Read Historical Trends.vi sometimes take a very long time (~60 seconds in some cases). In addition, most of the time the last data point from that time period is missing.
    For example, I have a discrete tag that is False before the start time, and goes True and then False again before the stop time. I know that this happens because I can see it in the Tag Monitor. However, when I call Read Historical Trend.vi, only 2 data are returned: a 0 with a timestamp from before the start time, and a 1 with a timestamp just after the start time. There is no 0 with a timestamp befor
    e the stop time, but there should be. If I wait for several and then try again, sometimes the data will be correct. But if I stop Main.vi and try again with the same exact timestamps, the data are returned immediately and nothing is missing.
    I also occasionally get Error -1967390704 occurred at CIT_ReadStringTrace.vi. I'm not sure what causes that, because it doesn't happen every time.
    I am using Labview 6.0.2, DSC 6.0.2 with the fixes, and the latest Logos (4.4).

    Jake,
    We have identified the issue and developed a potential workaround. Please create an email (not discussion forum) request so we can contact you on this.

  • How to start a long running program at system start and stop at login and restart at logoff

    I am trying to mine some crypto currency with my computer. My computer is usually in logged off state, so I want to mine automatically when system is in this state.
    Untill now I have done this:
    At system start, I have scheduled a task to start the mining software
    at login I have scheduled another task to kill the mining process
    Here comes the question: I need to restart the mining process as soon as the user logs off.
    But I couldnt figure out how to schedule a task at logoff, so I decided to use Group Policy Ediotr's Logoff scripts. But the problem is, I can't seem to log off at all, because system seems to be waiting for the "script" to finish, and since it is
    a mining process, it doesn't finish, and the user is never logged off!
    How do I configure windows to resume mining after the logoff?

    Hi!
    I haven't been working much with mining, but you are thinking correctly with using the logon/logoff-scripts.
    The problem is that the process for mining requires a user to be logged on, it runs i user-context.
    So if you in some way can start the process to run in system context, you are good to go. (The mining process) But if this is possible at all I do not know, I think the miners are dependent on a user being logged on.
    Best regards

  • Could not Set Xmonad to Work Starts and Stops With a Black Screen

    Folks I've installed xmonad here. So I edited 2 files:

    # set the cursor
    xsetroot -cursor_name left_ptr
    # set German keyboard layout

    , borderWidth = myBorderWidth
    -- yes, these are functions; just very simple ones
    -- -- that accept no input and return static values
    myTerminal = "urxvt"
    myModMask = mod4Mask -- Win key or Super_L
    myBorderWidth = 3
    Thou when I start xmonad all I get is a black screen. What am I missing?

  • When i am on youtube, the videos keep starting and stopping. Why?

    some videos play alittle longer before it freezes and then begins again....and keep doing throughout the video... sometimes the video wont play at all...please help...thanks

    Assuming your internet connection is not the problem, go to Youtube and start to view a video. Pause the video, and then right-click on the video. Flash will then pop up a context menu, click Settings. On the first tab of the settings menu there is an option to de-select "Use hardware acceleration." If the box is not checked, check it, and if it is already checked, un-check it. Then try to play the video again. You may need to re-load the page afterward.
    You'll want to update your outdated plug-ins, like Java. See:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
    Please return here to report your progress.

  • Internet will start working and stops on main user, other users work fine

    So one day I come upon my computer and it is off, which is weird, I attribute it to power going out (clocks are fine), anyhow, since then, my G5 will not connect to the internet, i have an airport express that has been working fine, it sees the network and will join it, if i open ichat it will open the buddy list and then not show what buddies are online, if it does show what buddies are online, it will let me send one message and then close if someone tries to send me a message back, also with safari, when i click on a page, it starts to load (i think from my cache) and then nothing happens, i made a new user on this same computer and that users works PERFECTLY!! what gives, i'd rather not change my user, also i have a macbook that connects to my network fine, thanks for any help in advance, this is really annoying me
    thanks again

    Basworth-
    I'm not running my mac tonight, so i can't look, but there are some "plists" that can be deleted (and which will be recreated when you reboot the machine).
    Search the discussions for terms like <network plist settings> or similar.
    There seems like there's something messed up in your Preferences that aren't getting correctly set, even when you change preferences. Removing a plist deletes all the goofy settings, and then is put back at default after a restart. THEN when you set the settings, things will "stick".
    Mentioning that a New User works...rings a bell, that plist repair MIGHT be in order.

  • How to start and stop a progress-bar thread before/after the main thread

    hi. I would appreciate any kind of help on my request.
    I have this as my main() function
         public static void main(String[] args)
              SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
                   public void run(){
                        Options op = new Options();
                        OdessaClient oc = new OdessaClient(op);
                        oc.setVisible(true);
         }Whenever I try to start a simple JFrame with an indeterminate progress bar on it just before the main function and stop it somewhere after I get a StackOverFlow error
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.StackOverflowError
         at java.awt.Component.show(Component.java:1302)
         at java.awt.Component.setVisible(Component.java:1253)
         at com.client.CylonBar.hide(CylonBar.java:25)
         at java.awt.Component.show(Component.java:1302)
         at java.awt.Component.setVisible(Component.java:1253)
    ...and so on...How must I implement something like it?

    Not precisely that way, but just off the top of my head, you would have to have a handle to the proccess (server) in the first window, then have a monitor program that allows you take this handle and end it. I would make this monitor program be the gateway to starting and stopping your server. To run a .bat file you can use runtime.exec().

  • I am trying to free my mac book for space. everytime i try to empty the deleted items in trash, it starts and stop without clearing the items. how do i empty the trash

    I am trying to free my Mac book for space in oredr to upgrade. Everytime i try to empty the deleted items in the trash, it starts and stops immediately without clearing the items. How do i achieve this?

    I had the same problem yesterday with an application file that was deleted after installation of an update. I used "Put Back" to move it back to its original location, then used "Show Package Contents" to delete/empty trash for small groups of files at a time. I suppose the application file itself may have been too large to empty at one time. I hope this helps.

  • Why do videos from the internet start and stop, Why do videos from the internet start and stop

    When I try to watch even a short video from the internet, it starts and stops....its annying....any ideas?

    Maybe the speed of your internet connection has some bearing on it?
    But you could give this a try - reset Safari and see if that helps at all.
    Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Starting and stopping triggered samples

    The ESX24 Sampler claims to be a plug-in that functions exactly like a sampler should. Previous to Logic Pro 7, I used a SP-606 sampler that had three different ways a sample could be played:
    1. drum - this function played the sample as long as the button (or note) was held down then stopped playing once released
    2- trigger - this started the sample and let it play until the end of the entire audio region
    3- loop - this looped the sample based on the specified start and stop points.
    However under the second function, trigger, you could trigger the sample to start and stop and restart and stop every time you hit the sample button or sent a note.
    Does logic have this function anywhere in the ESX24?
    for instance if i had a 15 second long sample and sent a midi note from a controller to start it...how do i stop it and restart it at will?
    the only functions I see available in Logic are the 'drum' function (where the sample releases and stops as long as you hold down the note) and the trigger function (but in Logic a second trigger does not stop the sample ----
    it triggers a second sample to play again --so that multiple samples are playing simultaneously)
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Starting and stopping SAP in Unix

    Hi,
    Pls tell me the command to start and stop sap in Unix.
    I dont want to start and stop the Database
    Pls help

    Log on in UNIX as a user with SAP administrator authorization (<sid>adm).
    To start the central instance, call the shell script
    startsap_<host>_<instance no> in the home directory
    of the <sid>adm user. If there is only one instance for each application server, the
    alias startsap points to the script startsap_<host>_<instance no>.
    The script startsap first starts the saposcol process which collects statistical
    data for the operating system that it provides to the SAP system.
    The next step is a check to see if the database is running. If not, the script
    startdb is called to start the database.
    The final step starts all of the processes for the instance (message server,
    dispatcher, work processes, and so on).
    After the central instance is started, you can optionally start other instances.
    The startsap script can be called with the following options:
    DB: starts the database system
    R3: starts the instances and associated processes for the instance
    ALL: starts the database system and the instance (default setting, can be omitted)
    To start the SAP system, the startsap script calls the sapstart process with
    the start profile specified in the script in the variable START_FILES.
    The stopsap script can be called with the following options:
    DB: stops the database system with the help of the stopdb script
    R3: stops the instances of the SAP system
    ALL: stops the database system and the instance (default setting, can be
    omitted)
    The database can be stopped separately with database tools.
