Run time engine download disabled?

Hi,  I am trying to download the lates LV run time engine.  There are pages for 8.0 and 8.2, no 8.2.1.  However, when I click on the links to download either version, the files are not there.  What's going on?

Thanks for the responses.  I followed Yi's links and they do work.  However, I happen to have the URIs from my original attempt, and they still don't work.  Here is an example, and proof

  • Where can I download Run-time engine 6.1 for Mac OS

When trying to run an executable I receive a message "Could not load LabView Runtime Shared Library: err = -2804, "Labview 6.1 Runtime". I did not see Run-time engine 6.1 for Mac OS 9 available for download. I only saw version 6.0.2. Does anyone know where I can download version 6.1??

    Hi majo008,
If you click on the 'Drivers and Updates' under 'Option 3' on the Technical Support page (www.ni.com/support), you can select 'All Software Versions' and choose 'LabVIEW >> Run-Time Engine'. This page will then have a link to the LabVIEW 6.1 Runtime Engine for Mac OS.

  • When creating an application installer in LV, what run-time engine or driver must be installed to install the VISA interactive control?

I've created an application installer using LabVIEW's application builder and use it to install NI MAX.  However, after running the installer, the VISA interactive control is disabled in NI MAX.
    The installer installs the following NI components:  NI LabVIEW Run-Time 2014 SP-1(64-bit), NI LabWindows/CVI Shared Run-Time Engine 2013 SP2, NI Measurement & Automation Explorer 14.5, NI-488.2 Application Development Support (includes run-time), NI-VISA Configuration Support 14.0.1, NI-VISA Runtime 14.0.1, NI-VISA Server 14.0, NI Systems Configuration Runtime 14.5.0, vision run-time, dc-power run-time.
If I download and run the 488.2 installer, the VISA interactive control is enabled in NI MAX.  But, the installer created with the application builder does not seem to install the necessary components.
What needs to be added to the installer to enable  the VISA interactive control (VISAIC)?
    Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion with the forum post that Jon sent you. I did some research on our internal database and I found out the component will not be installed by any of the components added from the additional installers section on the configuration of the installer. As you have already found out you need to install the full installer in order to enable this feature.
I know that this might be an inconvenient for you because you wanted to have one installer to run. On this case may I suggest using the NI Batch Installer Builder.
The NI Batch Installer Builder allows building installers that contain National Instruments software from several products. That way you can create an installer for you application in LabVIEW (and not include the drivers in the additional installer section), then use NI Batch Installer Builder to include the installer for your application and the full version of the drivers that you mentioned.
    Here is the download link:

And in here you can find instructions on how to get started with it:

  • VISA Write differs between TS Development System and LV Run-Time Engine

    Hi all
I made an application on LabVIEW to test BERs (Bit Error Rates), and I used VISA Write between two COM ports to exchange data.
Everything works fine using just LabVIEW.
Afterwards, I used TestStand to call my application (VI). The LabVIEW adapters from TestStand were set to Development System by default, and everything works OK!!
Finally, I needed to disable the development system, and set the LabVIEW adapters from TestStand to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine and I notice that the speed of the data exchange between the two COM ports decreased dramatically.
The only difference was the speed...because all the data (changed slowly in this case) arrived correctly on the other COM port too.
The symptom was the same as decreasing the baud rate...but the baud rate and all the other configurations remained the same. The only difference was the change between Develpment System to Run-Time Engine to notice this decreased speed between the exchanged data using VISA Write.
    Any solutions for this?
    Thanks in advance

    Joao,
you state that using the LV Developement System as execution platform for your LV code modules result in faster datatransfer between the COM ports than using the LV Run-Time Engine.
So i am pondering: Does this refer to TS at all?
    Please check the following:
Run you communication using a sole LV application in LV Developement System. This should be fast. Now build an executable of this application and run that one. Do you see the same behavior?
If there is no difference in a sole LV approach, there have to be some settings in the TS approach making this slow. So please let us know:
Are there different modules involved in that data transfer (which in fact points to the reply Christophe made)?
What about loading/unloading options of the modules?
How big is the hierarchy of the modules, e.g. is it necessary for the RTE to load stuff the Dev Env has already in memory due to loading a lvproj.......?
Could you provide a simple example sequence+modules showing this behavior?
What versions of LV and TS are you using?
    hope this helps,

  • Executable not working - Looking for LabVIEW Run-Time Engine

This has been one of those days.
I'm trying to create my .exe file to place onto another computer. I've done this before with success. But that was then and this is now.
I believe I have all the files I need in my LLB, and I believe I did my application distribution correctly and I believe I built the DLL correctly. But when I took the resulting .exe file and placed it on another computer and attempted to run it, it gave me the error message: "Unable to locate LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Program requires a version 7.1 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time engine. You should have already realized this, you moron."
Anyone have any idea where I went wrong or what step I might have missed? This has been a crazy, non-stop, massive brain fart of a day and I can't seem to remember what I'm missing here.
Amateur programmer for over 10 years!

    Hi.
Whenever you want to use executables or .dll's created with LabVIEW you must make sure that the LabVIEW runtime engine of the SAME version as the LabVIEW version used to create the files, is installed in the target computer.
There are basically 2 ways to get the run-time engine installed on a computer:
    1. (the one I prefer): Download the correct version of the LabVIEW run-time engine installer from www.ni.com/downloads, or more specifically from
    http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/369618104E25B08E86256F54006A4E2F?opendocument&node=132050_US
for the latest one. Once you have the installer for the run-time engine, just install it in the target computer. I prefer this option because the run-time engine is installed independently, so if you then uninstall your program, the run-time engine remains.
    2. Create an installer for your program that includes the run-time engine. To include the run-time engine, when you are creating your application, go to the "installer settings" tab, click on "Advanced" and make sure there is a checkmark on "include LabVIEW run-time engine". This way when you install your program in the target computer, the run-time engine will also be installed.
Just as a note, any computer with LabVIEW on it, will also have the run-time engine.
    Good luck.

  • Unable to locate the LabVIEW Run-Time engine

Using LabVIEW 2011, I have built an executable and installer including the LabVIEW Run-Time engine. I built the app on a 32-bit system. I'm deploying it to a Windows7 64-bit system. When I ran the installer, rebooted, then tried to run the app, I got an error messsage stating "Unable to locate LabVIEW Run-Time Engine", stating that the LVRTE 2011 was needed to run the app, and asking if I want to download from NI. I have tried downloading the RTE and re-installing it, but when I try, I get an error message from the installer stating that there is a newer version of the RTE already installed, and the installer exits! I have tried un-installing the application, but have had no luck removing the RTE. Now I'm stuck. The re-installed executable application says it can't find the RTE, and the RTE installer says there's a later version already installed!
I can't go forward or backwards!
Prior to running the installer for this app, I had a working LVRTE for 2011, and was running some other executable LabVIEW programs on the target box. However, since this new application had additional components not included in the original install of the RTE, I built the new installer which included the additional components. Once I ran that installer, my problems began.
In my frustration, I've tried downloading from NI both the 32 and 64-bit versions of the RTE, and installing them. I realize that the app was built on a 32-bit system, so the 32-bit RTE SHOULD have run it fine, but didn't.
At this point I have removed the 64-bit RTE using the NIUninstaller. I believe I need to completely remove all 32-bit RTE components and start over, but I have not been able to. The 32-bit RTE does not show up in any un-install utilities I've found.
What could be causing this problem, and how do I get past it??
    Thank you.

One thing I did discover in my struggles is that the RunTime engine on the target box needs to be based on the environment of the development box. So if you built the app on a 32-bit machine, you would need to install the 32-bit RTE, even on your 64-bit target box.
The RTE Uninstaller might not show up in the Windows Add/Remove Programs utility. In my case the 64-bit RTE uninstaller showed up, but the 32-bit did not. The NiUninstaller (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\NIUninstaller) did list both RTEs for uninstalling, but still didn't get me past the problem.
I was finally only able to get past the problem by doing a system restore to a point in time prior to my changing of the RTE.
    Good luck.

  • Can't install LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 6.1 on Windows Terminal Server

With my system admin, we tried to install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 6.1 on our Windows Terminal Server NT4. And we get an error all the time:
    -install using the plugin
    -install using LVRTE.exe
    -install after rebooting the server
But I remember that we could install the Run-Time Engine 6.0 on another Windows Terminal Server NT4.
Is there any compatibility issues with the new Run-Time Engine 6.1 ??
    Thanks for your help
    Cyrille

    Cyrille,
What is the error that you get when trying to install the run-time engine?
Are you installing it from the LabVIEW CD, or did you download it from the web site?
To further troubleshoot this problem, it would be best if you send us an email to [email protected] and send the above information.
Also, try running the installer from the command prompt window, and use the following syntax:
    setup.exe/l*v
This will save the error log to the file you specify. Send us also this file to help us troubleshoot.
    Thanks

  • Error on installation of LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.5.1: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"

    Hi,
a colleague in India cannot install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.5.1 on Windows XP. On attempting to install, an error box is shown, which says:

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I didn't find any relevant clues for this in NI forums. A search at Google brought me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884538/en-us, offering a HotFix to solve the problem. Unfortunately, the installation of this HotFix does not solve the problem.
Do you know this behavior and do you have any ideas how the problem can be solved?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Install labview 6.1 (or compatible) run-time engine with labview 2011

I have installed a trial period version of Labveiw 2011 in order to check for possible upgrade issues I may have if I decide to upgrade from labveiw 6.1. Well, needless to say there have been alot. That is as expected since I have not updated labview in many years. I am still not under any pressure to update; however, I would like to in order to get support and make sure I do not have any compatibility issues with new  equipment purchases. I have been able to resolve most of my compatibility issues with simple code fixes and such. However, twice now I have run into an error when launching labview executeables compiled by two different equipment manufacturers. The equipment I am using is not even old...maybe a year or so. When I launch the labview executables to control this equipment on a PC that has the trial period labview 2011 installed, I get an error message stating something like " This requires a Labview 6.1 (or compatible) run time engine." I have tried to download and install the 6.1 labivew engine but I can't install this engine on a PC which has labview 2011 installed. Can someone explain how I am to run these executables under labview 2011. I can't imagine these executables were developed using 6.1 since this equipment is not even a year old now.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Im not for sure I am on the same page with you here. Im not trying to develop any code myself. I have some labview executables that came with hardware we purchased in order to control it. We used to have labview 6.1 installed; so everything was working ok. But now that I have installed 2011, I get an error message when trying to run these executables. The error message states that this executable requires a labview 6.1 or compatible run-time engine. I have seen this error on both XP and Windows 7 machines. I did not develop the executable, it was developed by the hardware manufacturer. But since this hardware is only about 1 year old, I an assuming they used a newer version of Labview to develop this code. Certianly newer than 6.1.
So I guess my question is..is there a way for me to get this executable to work on a PC that has labview 2011 installed. I have tried to install a labview 6.1 run time engine but it will not install. Any other options?

  • Building an Application in Windows to be used in Linux (with the Run-Time Engine)

    Hi All,
I have an LabVIEW project I have developed in a Windows environment.  I can create an Application (.exe) using the Build Specification -> Application Builder which works fine on the development platform.
I now want to distribute the application to a Linux Environment.  The OS is openSUSE v10.3 (with GNOME).  I have downloaded the two rpm files needed for the run-time engine and installed them, as per here:http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/97E14BA3E0C14A89862572C300567733?opendocument&node=13207...
Now, the question is; how do I create an Application in Windows which can be used on the Linux Box?  According to the Application Builder instructions, it's simply a case of removing the .exe extension in the Target File Name options, however, this gives an error "Invalid Extension."
If I do create an exe and manually remove the extention is doesn't work on the Linux enviroment (typing ./application).
Has anyone had experiance of this?
    Many Thanks for Any Help,

LabVIEW Run-time Engine Version 8.2.1 for Linux

The cross-platform nature of LabVIEW refers more to the code than to the executable.
LV (given the appropriate development version) can compile the same source code into a Windows (using LV for Windows), Linux (using LV for Linux) or Mac (using LV for Mac) program.
This means you will still have three versions of your program, one for each platform.
If you want to distribute VIs (without block diagrams), you will also need different versions of these as without the block diagram, they cannot be re-compiled for a new platform.

  • How to prevent prompt to install CVI Run-Time Engine?

The LabVIEW laptop for my client got messed up, so I spent several hours making it forget everything it ever knew about NI software.  I started by uninstalling all NI applications, then manually deleted all the folders that the uninstaller leaves behind, then ran a couple of registry cleaners to sweep out as much NI as possible, and finally ran regedit to see what was left.  In the end there were only some legacy drivers that regedit would not let me delete.
Then I installed 8.6.1 from DVD, carefully selecting only the options we needed; LabVIEW core, cRIO, FPGA, PID, and the minimum set of drivers the installer would let me get away with.  Note that no Labwindows/CVI option boxes were checked.  When the installation was complete, I rebooted the machine and launched LabVIEW, which immediately prompted me to install the LabWindows/CVI 8.5.1 (not 8.6.1) Run-Time Engine.  I dutifully fed it my 8.6.1 DVD, which caused LabVIEW to crash.  After 3 reboot/retry cycles with the same result, I decided to appeal to the forum for help.
What is causing LabVIEW to think I need the CVI Run-Time Engine (and a down-rev version, at that), and how do I convince LabVIEW that I do not?
    Jeff

Thanks for the reply!  OK, so LabVIEW needs the CVI RTE even though I'm not using any CVI features.  I can live with that.  I downloaded LabWindows/CVI Run-Time Engine 8.5 from the NI web site and tried to install it.  After I confirmed that I accepted whatever that license agreement says, the installer told me that "No software will be installed or removed."
Then I opened LabVIEW, and it went through the same "The feature you are trying to use..." popup and tried to install the CVI RTE.  The installation failed as usual, and LabVIEW crashed.
A few minutes ago I found and ran CVTRTE.msi on the 8.6.1 distribution DVD.  I selected the "repair" option, which completed successfully.  After rebooting, I launched LabVIEW only to be greeted with the now-hated NI LabWindows/CVI 8.5.1 Run-Time Engine installer.
The part of this that is so infuriating is that there appears to be no way for anyone to make a computer forget everything NI so you can start with a clean slate.

  • Installer Error of LabView Run Time Engine 6.0.2 "premature"

I cannot Install the LabView Run Time Engine on a Computer which runs on Windows 2000.
The Installation breaks on start with the Error Message: "Installation ended premature, because of an Error!"
Does anyone know what to do is ?
    Thanks for Help

It's rather difficult to guess why since the error does not give any more information, but there are a few things you can try. First, if you are installing from a CD, try downloading the installer to your desktop first and then run it. CD-ROMs can sometimes run slower that the installer and this can cause problems. Also, check to see what other NI software may have been installed on this machine and determine if any of it could conflict with the 6.0.2 Run-Time Engine. Just possibilities but hopefully they can get you going!

I have repeatdly tried to get web browser (Both Explorer 5.2.3 and Safari) VI viewing on my Mac (OS 10.4.2). I have reinstalled the run time engine (Labview 7.1.1 as downloaded from NI) numerous times with no luck. I get the usual "Browser plug-in required" message.
Doing a seach on my machine in the Internet plug-in folder reveals no new plug-ins after installation of the RTE.
I can run this VI work fine on a remote PC running Explorer, so I think my VI server is running fine. I quit the PC before trying it on the MAC to avoid any license limitations.
Any suggestions? Is the browser plug in available as a seperate down load? I could not locate it on the NI site.
    Thanks

    Hi G,
Lets try this. Install the LV71NPlugin file, in the attached image, in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins directory. I had to save the image with a different extension to be able to upload it to the forum so...
    1) Download the file
    2) Change the file extension from "abc" to "dmg"
    3) Copy LV71NPlugin to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Please let me know if this works for you.
    Thanks
    Chris J
