Run-Times for each podcast episode not showing

the iTunes store page url is this:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=318613641
my feed is this:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheTransmigrationOfMiguelSanchez
everything else seems to be working great but for whatever reason the lengths of each episode aren't showing up. Please help.
thanks in advance!

Your feed is missing the <itunes:duration> tag for each 'item' which should carry the duaration in the format hh:mm:ss (e.g. 01:12:32). If you are submitting a manually written feed to Feedburner you should be able to just add it to the feed; if you are using Feedburner to create the feed from scratch you will need to look for a place to enter this information.

  • Podcast episodes not showing up in iTS

We have recently changed our URL. We were able to successfully publish episode 4 with the redirect but for some reason episode 5 never showed up. episode6 is now up and we need these to show up in the store.
    FEED URL:
    http://www.texastribune.org/feeds/podcasts/the-tribcast/
subscriptions are updating just fine. Episode 5 was updated last week. I've manually pinged the server.

Firstly, to clarify the situation with iTunes. When you submit a podcast feed URL to iTunes it caches the feed (updating it periodically) and displays the contents in the Store page. When you click 'Subscribe', the Store directs the iTunes application to the feed - this is now a direct connection and doesn't involve the Store (you could say the Store acts as an agent). The same result can be obtained by subscribing manually from the 'Advanced' menu.
It's possible to get into a situation where the iTunes application can read a feed but the Store can't - often this is caused by a redirect script which the application and browsers can understand but the Store doesn't, so when people change the feed to one using this the subscriptions will update but the Store page stays with the cached version of the old feed.
Something like this may have happened here. Your feed URL is given as
    http://www.texastribune.org/feeds/podcasts/the-tribcast/
The slash on the end of a URL usually means that what precedes it is a folder name, and that the file which is brought up is called index.html which browsers will display automatically in this situation. In your case, if one control-clicks on the URL and downloads the file you get a text file called the-tribcast.rss. This file is valid in itself -the actual XML seems to be OK - but if you open the URL in FireFox and choose 'Page Source' from the 'View' menu it displays the feed as pure text without colouring the tags (which it would normally do with an XML file).
If you open the downloaded feed in FireFox it displays the contents but warns 'This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it'.
All this means that although FireFox and the iTunes application are able to recognize the feed as a feed and parse it correctly, the iTunes Store isn't doing so. Possibly the incomplete URL is confusing it - do you have some sort of redirect in place which takes browsers to the actual file, but which the Store cannot understand? Otherwise possibly the server is telling the Store that the file is text, rather than XML, though normally in this case FeedValidator would pick this up, which it doesn't.
Whatever the cause, you now have a Catch-22 situation: the Store isn't reading your feed, and so isn't updating; and you cannot change the Store to a new feed because to do so requires it to be able to read the existing feed.
Unless you can modify the feed or the way the server presents it without affecting the URL which the Store is looking for you have two not very satisfactory options:
    1. You can abandon this feed, and submit a completely new feed to the Store. You will need to change the name of the podcast slightly or you will be told it already exists. If you do this you should make sure that the feed URL is a complete one including the actual filename. It's probably better to use the extension .xml rather than .rss (although the latter should work).
    2. You can get the Store to remove the feed and then resubmit with the same title. (You should still use a new and complete feed URL). The removal process is detailed here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#removing
Expect the process to take some days. A previous poster with a similar problem was initially told just to use the 'block' tag but this is no good to you as iTunes isn't reading the feed, but he did eventually get a manual removal and if you don't you will need to pursue it.

  • Single Podcast Episode Not Showing up in iTunes

The second episode of the ExactTarget Developer Podast is not showing up. This was originally related to a bad link which was subsequently fixed. Any idea of what is happening or how it can be fixed?
    Podcast: ExactTarget Developer Podcast
    Feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ExactTargetDeveloperPodcast

The media file URL for the missing episode has two spaces after the '.mp3' and before the double quotes; it seems possible that this is causing iTunes to be unable to read the URL.

  • Libsyn hosted podcast episodes not showing up.

I understand there may be a glitch happening but I've waited over a week now and it hasn't sorted itself out yet. My feed is fine in other podcast catchers but the episodes don't show in iTunes. Thanks for any help, guys.
    Thank you!

    Podcast info below:
Your podcast, located at http://getoffmypodcast.libsyn.com/rss, has been approved. You should expect to see it on the iTunes Store within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/get-off-my-podcast-harrison/id873113856
You will be able to find your podcast through a search on the iTunes Store within the next two days.

Your feed works OK when subscribing in iTunes, but if you look at the iTunes Store in iTunes (as opposed to the web page version) you will see that it says '2 items' but is not showing any. This is a long-standing intermittent bug in the Store, not a problem with your feed, and I'm afraid there isn't anything you can do about it. It will probably sort itself out in a few days.

  • Artwork, author, summary etc for my podcast is not showing up in iTunes. WHY?

    Hi!
I added a podcast feed (and got it approved) to iTunes a week ago, and I can now find the first (and so far only) podcast episode in iTunes:
    https://itunes.apple.com/se/podcast/allt-vi-sager-ar-sant/id601876036?mt=2
But as you can see, iTunes is not picking up the information about author, subtitle, summary, artwork etc. What's wrong? Does anyone know?
I'm using Blogger, Feedburner and Smartcast. I entered all the information about author, subtitle, artwork etc, into Smartcast.
My original feed is here: http://alltvisager.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss
And my feed adress at feedburner is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/AlltViSagerArSant
    Can anyone help me?
    /Lisa

The Store is picking up exactly what is in the specified tags in the feed:
I don't know whether that's the text you were hoping to see. Your feed has a large amount of formatted text in the 'description' tags, but iTunes does not read this tag.
This page illustrates what tags appear where in the Store and when subscribing:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/itunestags.html
(It's for the previous version of iTunes but the differences are slight, just a matter of layout.)
Note however that the image referenced in the feed does not appear when subscribing - the image has to be actually embedded in the media file. Please see this page for details:

  • Old podcast episodes not showing?

For some reason, my podcast 'Growth Everywhere' has the latest episodes showing but I can't see the old ones.
    My feedburner feed is here:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/GrowthEverywhere
^-- I can see that it only goes up to a certain point in feedburner and my old posts are missing. Not sure what to do here.

One of the quickest solutions you could make would be to switch over feedburner to point to your libsyn feed as your source feed.  This would give you the most reliable source feed and ellimante issue you might be getting from wordpress managed feeds - which are the responsible for the biggest number of issues on the iTunes forums. I will follow up with you via email on more info.

  • Some Podcast episodes not showing up in iTunes

Can anybody help? I've been using iWeb 1.1.1 without a hitch for awhile. The other day I updated to OS X 10.4.7. Made a change to something in iWeb, then published it. Now, only 3 of six podcasts show up in iTunes, shows 1, 4 and 6. Weird huh? Is this because of the OS X update? Anyone else experiencing this kind of problem?

    figured it out

  • Run time for a Report

    Hi All,
I have a requirement, where in i want to know whether my report has run for 8 mins or not. If it has run for 8 mins then i have to give an information message saying that the report is taking more than 8 mins so schedule the program in back ground.
    Is this possible ?
Please let me know how to know during run time the time taken by a report.
    Regards
    Rakesh.

    Hi Dominic,
The code you mentioned can be put to know what is the time taken by a select statement or the time taken by a particular piece of code. In my program there are several select queries and complex logics.. So i dont think that it is feesible to calculate the run time for each select and then if its increasing 8 mins then to show error !!!!
My report will be called from an external application. If the program is taking much time it will get timed out. So for a precaution we have to tell them that the way you have given the selection screen filter values its going to take more than 8 mins so better schedule a back ground job.

  • Podcast graphic not showing Iweb rss not the same as Technotes

I noticed that the graphic for my podcasts are not showing in itunes. Pinged and changed them to 300*300 jpg.and changed name of file and you can get to the file from the url. Week later still no change but text updates ok. Just have the generic file. Also the categories in Iweb are out of date so need to use a find and replace to fix them al the time.
Anyone else got the same problem?
    http://www.australianmac.com

iTunes is having a problem at the moment with cover art
    http://discussions.apple.com/ann.jspa?annID=408
so don't worry too much about that.
Make sure your rss feed is all ok by going here http://www.feedvalidator.org/
and putting in your fee which is
    http://web.mac.com/yournameondotmac/iWeb/(yoursitename)/(yoursitename)Podcast/(yoursitename)Podcast.html
Fill in all the(yoursitename) with your sitename like jeffrobinson.
Now yours may be different but you can see the path by going to your .mac in the finder and looking in the Web folder, then the sites folder, then the iWeb folder, and there is your site name on the enclosed folder. Remember that any spaces in a name are %20 in the url. Clear as mud eh?
The other way is to look at your iWeb site in iWeb, find your podcast page on the left and the first main page of your podcast is the rss feed you need to validate so surf to it in safari and copy the url and put it in the validator above. Look at the results and tell me what they are or just send me the url here and Ill have a look for you. OK?

  • Default maximum run time for updates

Is there a way to change the default "Max run time" for each update? In SCCM 2007 the default run time was 20 minutes per update, now it is 5 minutes. I have machines that repeatedly fail to install updates because the max time of 300 seconds was
    reached.

    Hi,
What is the powershell command to change the maximum run time?

The TIme Machine volume does not have that checkbox.
I think the issue is with your Finder...
Go to Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences trash these files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • I am having issues with adjusting the duration of time for each still frame and transition in imovie 11.  Each time that I adjust these times, the app does not accept the change, and automatically enters its own time. Am I doing something wrong?

I am having issues with adjusting the duration of time for each still frame and transition in imovie 11.  Each time that I adjust these times, the application does not accept the change, and instead automatically enters its own time. Is there a work around this? Or am I doing something wrong? Please Help!
    Thank you,
    lagrl

Have you tried turning off automatic transitions ? Choose file - project properties and follow the dialogue box to change duration with a slider.  iMovie also doesn't allow a transition to be more than 50% duration of the clip its attached to. In other words if the clip is 4 seconds the transition cannot be more than 2 seconds and remember that relates to the first clip as the following clip (right side) is pulled back to overlay it.
Does this help.  Perhaps you already know this ?

  • New episode not showing up in iTunes

hi there, I've searched around but don't see an answer to this specific problem.
I've just uploaded our second podcast
updated the xml and pinged itunes
i know the itunes ping worked as the first episode was updated
however i dont see episode 2 on the itunes page
if i go to my podcast list and right mouse click update podcast i do get episode 2
i dont have unique guid 's for each podcast could that be it?
    xml is http://theatomicgeeks.com/podcasts/TAG_ep1.xml
thanks in advance for any help

You should have a guid tag, though Apple's Tech Note implies you can get away without it:
    <guid>
+Every <item> should have a globally unique identifier that never changes. When you add episodes to your feed, guids are compared in case sensitive fashion to determine which episodes are new. If you omit the guid for an episode, the episode url will be used instead.+
Feedvalidator also shows up the absence of these tags on the results page for your feed.
But how long is it since you uploaded the episode? You say 'just'.. my experience is that it takes 24-48 hours for a new episode to appear, so you may just need to wait a bit.

  • My Podcast Is Not Showing Up In New Releases ?!

The NOLS Podcast (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=340445001) is not showing up in new releases when we release a new episode? How long is the turn around time for this? Is there something I did or can do?

Give it a few days. For some reason it take some time for a podcast to appear in the Search results after it's been approved and appeared in the Store.
