Runing Forte Runtime Clients using a Firewall

Has anybody had to deal with have Forte runtime clients use a firewall? Who
did you configure the firewall to allow Forte runtime clients to talk to the
deployed application on the other side of the firewall? Is there any way to
configure your deployed application to use certain sockets so that you can
configure the firewall to let client's ip traffic go through using those
sockets? We are using 95 clients and a IBM application server for our
central environment. The firewall will be in the middle monitoring the
traffic. Any suggestion or help would great be appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Yes, please. Actually I'm aware of all you've said. What I'm trying to apply is not a custom build step but a custom tool. (You select the specific file and in properties you're able to set a Custom Tool and Custom Tool Namespace to it)
In my platform specific projects custom tool works fine but in shared project doesn't. Does custom tools work using a custom build step in code behind so that's why I can't apply them to my Shared Project?

    Kamran,
    There is an environment variable, FORTE_LOCATIONS, that controls which
    port a partition connects over.

  • Metaframe Servers Flaky Since Forte Runtime Upgrade from 'J'to ' L'

    Our Metaframe users ahve to repeatedly try to login to Metaframe, generally

    I think that to avoid install, the software could be located on a shared
    drive,
    and users linking to it through running 'ftexec' or directly the compiled
    binaries.
    For nodes not to appear in the environment as nodes, they could be defined
    as members
    of a model node '(which then would be in the environmnet)'
    Putting a password in the environment could prevent nodes to be registered
    there, but
    might prevent the apps from being executed.

  • XML parser error while testing web service client using jdeveloper 10.1.2.1

    hi
    I have generated a web service stub/skeleton out of the wsdl file using jdeveloper 10.1.2.1.0. The client will return a complex type result, i.e., it will return an array of elements. When I try to run the client using jdeveloper 10.1.2.10 i am getting the following error:

    Cannot Generate a Stub or Skeleton for a WSDL that Uses Certain Types (3912349)
    JDeveloper 10.1.2 only understands a subset of all of the complexTypes that can be defined in a WSDL document. For example, if the following appear in the "types" section of the WSDL, any use of those types will cause JDeveloper to generate a reference to UnknownType in a stub or skeleton:
    •     Restrictions of simpleTypes
    •     complexTypes which define attributes Does that mean that the jdeveloper will not support complex types?Could anybody tell me how to resolve the above said issue? Is there any patch that i can run to resolve the issue?

    Can i use the client generated using jdeveloper 11g to import into the oracle forms 10g, i.e., form builder 10g. Currently this is the version we have in our office.

    It's not an authorisations problem, inside the network people can run the programs fine.

    Hi,
    i assume you have enable CMS port on the firewall, apart from this you need to enable IFRS and Connection Server port also.

  • Lync Client uses wrong RTP Ports for calls from/to RGS with Agent Anonymity

    We have QoS implemented and client ports for audio, video und application defined by Set-CsConferencingConfiguration. We also use firewalls in our LAN between the different VLANs for Clients, Servers and Gateways/SBC. Only RTP from the client with the defined
    ports are allowed by the firewall. Media ByPass is enabled.
    In all normal cases, the right ports will be used and marked by GPO with the right DSCP value. But if an agent get a call from a RGS which has agent anonymity enabled, the client uses a port in the range 1024-65535 for audio. Also if you make a call on behalf
    of the RGS, the client use a random port between 1024-65535. As soon, as the source of the call is in another VLAN (e.g. a call from PSTN which comes in over a SBC in e separate VLAN), the firewall between the two VLANs block the RTP traffic.
    We see the deny on the firewall log and in the SBC log we see, the reinvite for the media by pass with the IP of the agent and a not valid port. We also see, that no RTP from the client/agent will arrive the SBC and no RTP from the SBC will arrive the client/agent.
    So the call will be disconnected, as soon as an agent wants accept the call.
    Is there an additional setting to make sure, the Lync client always use the valid RTP port range?
    This behavior exist in Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 clients.

    Hi Holger,
    Thanks for reply!
    Sure! I set all AudioPorts on all Services, but the problem are not the ports used by the server, the problem are the ports used by the client. We set the client ports to 49152 with a count of 40. The client (2013 and also 2010) use these ports correctly in all
    cases exept for call from/on behalf of an RGS with Agent Anonymity.
    If we disable the RGS agent anonymity, restart the client of the agent, then the client uses also the correct source ports for RTP.
    I've checked this behaviour now on 3 customer installations, our own productive installation and in our lab.
    Because until now only one of our customers have firewalls between the internal VLANs, only this single customer have the issues...
    Regards,
    Stephan

  • Running Oracle Reports via a client using system.exec call from war file

    Hi all,
    I am trying to deploy a war file application to a J2EE 10.1.3 application server. The deployment successfully completes. However testing the application fails.
    When testing, the application reveals that calling a Oracle Reports 6i client (using a cmd line exec) from the war file returns application errors. The errors we get from executing the call below (using debug statements), creates this error:
    OperatingSystemCmd: cmd = D:\Oracle\Dev6i\BIN\rwcli60 MODULE="CLTMLST" USERID="<userid>/<pwd>@<db>" DESTYPE="FILE" DESFORMAT="PDF" DESNAME="<path>\<pdf filename>.PDF" PARAMFORM="NO" BACKGROUND="NO" SERVER="r6i.world" TOLERANCE=0 ADVCODE="<param>"
    OperatingSystemCmd: Command returned 3
    WrsRunReport: Done executing report
    WrsRunReport: Error running report Return code 3
    Error on Screen is REP-0178 : Cannot connect to reports service.
    However running the same command from a operating system command prompt in windows reveals that the command runs successfully.
    Is there any particular OC4J J2EE settings that are required to get this statement to run properly?
    Any help is most appreciative.
    Cheers
    Rodney

    Hi All,
    From much research and experimenting to get this to work I looked at the java.lang.Runtime class and noticed that seperate processes can be started using this very important Java class.
    The first thing that I experimented with was in regards to seeing the environment OC4J runs against. Using the java.lang.Runtime class I executed a standard "cmd /c set" command in my Windows environment, and noticed that Oracle Application Server uses its own environment and not a standard windows login environment for its OC4J containers. Apache Tomcat on the other hand uses the standard user login environment.
    So to get the application to be able to work properly we needed to override the particular environment the process needed to be able to get it to work. There is a exec command which allows you to override completely the environment for a process you would like to run. This method call does not in any way shape or form change the standard OC4J environment. This was done by executing the same "set" but with the overriden environment. Note that no environment variables from the OC4J container are carried into this new environment.
    Cheers
    Rodney

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get Eclipse TPTP to work. One of the steps I need to execute is to run a setConfig.bat file. When I ran it, I got the following error:
    ERROR: The Java Runtime in use does not contain a suitable JAXP feature
    RESOLUTION: Use a JRE which supports the JAXP featureI use Eclipse Europa, and it is using my JDK (actually JRE) 1.6.0_05. That should mean I have JAXP in my JRE (which is confirmed when I search on JAXP from the directory C:\Program Files\Java containing jdk1.6.5_05 and jre1.6.5_05 directories).
    Is there something extra I need to do to let Eclipse and TPTP find my JAXP classes?

  • Memory leak in a client using EJBs deployed in a Bea Weblogic 10.0.0 cluste

    Hi all,
    We are having a memory leak in a client using stateless EJBs deployed in cluster. The client is a Tomcat 6.0.18 with java 6 but it is reproduced using Tomcat 5 with java 5. The client is calling a Weblogic Server 10.0 making
    calls to an EJB deployed in cluster that has two instances installed in two different machines.
    The client works fine if we shutdown one of the server instances and so when the client is using only one instance.
    Resuming the environment:
    Client Side:
    1 HP-Itanium machine with HP-UX.
    1 Tomcat 6 with java 6 (reproduced with java 5)
    Bea Weblogic client (wlclient.jar) for Weblogic 10.0.0
    Server Side:
    2 HP-Itanium machines with HP-UX
    Bea Weblogic Server 10.0.0 installed in both machines
    An unique domain
    Two Bea instances (one per machines) associated to a Bea Cluster
    EJBs deployed in both instances
    We have monitored the memory consumed in Tomcat and we have noticed that the VM memory PS OLD GEN grows up permanently when we make tests having the two server side Bea Instances up. We have extended
    the memory VM parameters in Tomcat client till 1G and it's only a way to delay the end: the free memory is empty, the GC is not able to free no more byte and the CPU is 100% consumed by the GC work. At the end Tomcat Client
    doesn't accept more http petitions and must be restarted.
    Besides, we have studied the VM memory in Tomcat using jmap and importing it using Eclipse Memory Analyzer. We have seen some strange memory blocks of several Mbytes that are always growing up and that are stored
    under data structures in the package com.sun.corba:
    com.sun.corba.se.impl.legacy.connection.SocketFactoryConnectionImpl (4.5Mb)
    |
    -> com.sun.corba.se.impl.transport.CorbaResponseWaitingRoomImpl
    |
    -> java.util.Hashtable
    |
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    |
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    Has anybody any idea about this problem?

    |
    -> com.sun.corba.se.impl.transport.CorbaResponseWaitingRoomImpl
    |
    -> java.util.Hashtable
    |
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    |
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    -> java.util.Hashtable$Entry
    Has anybody any idea about this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    How can I determine what dns server the wifi client use within airport
    I want to use dns servers other then the one that airport extreme is using. For example I got the 172.16.1.1 (the default gateway - airport extreme), but I want to use the office dns servers, that are in a 10.x.x.x range.
    Is there a possibility?
    Thanks and happy eastern

    The Airport Extreme uses the DNS servers assigned by the network that it connects to. Is you Airport Extreme on the 10.x.x.x network? if it is then you are already using the 10.x.x.x DNS servers. Check your Airport Extreme with the Airport Utility and you will see in the Internet tab, the DNS servers used. The devices connecting to the Airport Extreme are assigned a DNS address of the Airport Extremes IP, In your case 172.16.1.1 but all DNS searches and resolution are done with the DNS servers you see in the Airport Extreme.
    If you want to use some other DNS then you can override in the Airport Extreme which will be used by all devices connecting too the Airport Extreme, Or you can edit the DNS address in each devices wireless settings.
