  • Firefox opens, and preview shows when hover on the task bar link, but the window will not maximize, or show up at any size on my screen (Windows 7) Help?!

I am running Windows 7 and just updated Firefox to the 7.0 version. I can open Firefox, in the sense that I can run the application. I can see that it is open because the link shows up on my task bar, and when I hover over it I can see the thumbnail preview - which, incidentally says "You're almost there!"; but I can not open the window! I have tried clicking once on the task bar link, and once again (just in case I was clicking to minimize instead of maximize). I have tried double clicking the shortcuts on my desktop, then the one in my program files, as well as the one in my start menu, and the static one pinned to my task bar. I have tried accessing Firefox from every path available on my computer and I can open it every time, but *never* not even once have I been able to view it on my screen. I can't understand what would cause this and maybe I'm just an idiot but can anybody help me... please? Oh, and I don't know if it makes any difference, but I did try restoring 6.0 and I re installed 7.0 again, all to the same end... Many thanks to anyone willing to help me fix this!

-> [[Software Update Failed#w_run-as-administrator|Run as Administrator]]
-> right-click Firefox icon and choose Properties
    * go to Compatibility tab
    * click Use Resolution 640x480 pixels
    * click OK and start Firefox
-> Firefox will now start but you should be able to change the size of the window.
    * Close Firefox and now Uncheck the 640x480 resolution
    * Start Firefox again and now all should be fine
Check and tell if its working.

  • How do I get the tab bar at the bottom of the screen (right above the task bar) WITHOUT Tab Mix Plus?

''locking - please stick with your original thread about this problem - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/934590''
I like having the tab bar at the bottom of the screen; I use the task bar AT THE BOTTOM to switch between programs, so I want the the tab bar AT THE BOTTOM to switch between web pages. The only way I've found to get the tab bar at the bottom of the screen is the extension Tab Mix Plus. I used it for a long time, and it worked great.
Unfortunately, when I recently updated to Firefox 14.0.1, I encountered an error: I could no longer middle-click on a link to open it in a new tab (which I do ALL the time). After some troubleshooting, I found that it was being caused by some incompatibility between Firefox 14.0.1 and Tab Mix Plus; upon removing Tab Mix Plus, my middle-clicking was back to normal.
But without Tab Mix Plus, I'm back to having the tab bar at the top of the screen. I've searched and searched, and I can't find anything besides Tab Mix Plus that will let me put the tab bar at the bottom of the screen. I've found tons of stuff about the option "tabs on top", but that has to do with putting the tab bar above/below the navigation bar--it's still at the top of the SCREEN either way.
    What can I do?

  • Firefox window is not shown and not even in the tasks bar, but there is a process running in the task manager

Clicked on the Firefox icon , but window did not appeared, checked in the Task manager, there is a process running with firefox.exe, and could not see any icon in the task bar adjacent to start button

I discovered that when the "Firefox is already running . . . ." message pops up I can fix it by doing the following [note: I get the same message for the Thunderbird e-mail program too] : 1. I open 'TASK MANAGER" and click on the "Processes" tab. 2. Next I scroll down until I see Firefox.exe *32 in the leftmost column (or Thunderbird. exe *32 if the message came up there), highlight that line by clicking on it and then click on the "end process" button on the right side on the bottom. 4. A pop-up window will come up but ignore its message and click on the "end process" button in the pop-up window. The program should then start the next time you click on the icon..
While that saves the need to restart your PC to fix the problem, I have yet to find any information as to the reasons for those two processes to show up in the first place. I'm running the 64 bit Win 7 Professional and do not know if that has something to do with those two processes running from time to time or not. The message comes up often but not all the time and I haven't been able to pinpoint any action on my part where the message comes up if I do '''X '''or the message never comes up when I do '''Y''' before closing Firefox or Thunderbird.

  • Help!  I'm stuck on the Task Bar and I can't get up!

I recently upgraded to Premiere Elements 8, and now I can start the program but as soon as I open a project the window minimizes to the task bar.  I can not restore the window to show-up on the screen.  The Organizer works OK, and the Adobe startup window show-up OK.  Even the Premiere Elements window will show-up while it's loading a project, but as soon as the project is loaded... it hides down on the task bar.  It was working fine just after I installed it.  It's been a couple of weeks since I ran it last.  I have installed the 8.0.1 update.  What a tease!
I've attached a couple of images of the program on the task bar just in case this helps.  My system is Window 7 Ultimate.  I have two 24" displays (both working fine), lots of memory and disk space, and it's a Dell XPS 9000 box.
Please let me know how to coax my beloved Premiere Elements out of hiding!

Hi Steve -- Thanks for your quick response.  I do have the 64-bit version installed on the C drive as shown in the screen  snippet below. The reference to the D drive in my earlier post was to the Premiere project file, which I dont keep on my system drive.  You've also suggested that I update my video driver, which I confirmed was up to date (as per snapshot below).
You questions got me poking however, and I think I've found a way to circumvent the problem (which looks ilke a bug to me).  Apparently, the Welcome window always launches the Premiere editor in maximized mode.  When you subsequently open (a new or existing) project, the window resizes to the size that it was when you last used it.  When I was experiencing the problem, this size was "minimized on the task bar forever".
To get around this, I used the settings menu on the top right of the Welcome window to set the option "Always Launch Premiere Elements Editor behind the Welcome Screen".  This show the editor window maximized, but it allows me to resize the editor window in the normal way, before I open a project.  Now when I subsequently opened a project file, the editor window did not dive into the Task Bar!
Moreover, on subsequent launches the Welcome window still shows the editor window maximized, but the auto resize after opening a project now uses the size that I manually set in my manual sizing procedure in the above paragraph.  For me it's fixed!!
Perhaps the context that provokes the bug is that I never set a non-maximized size for the editor, and the auto resize gets confused about the desired size of the editor window?

  • Making a message pop up appear on the task bar

hi all ! Im making a pop up with a message so the person can know that the product is registered. I use this code
javax.swing.JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"Nueva Cita registrada","Medex",javax.swing.JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);The thing is that I want to make the pop up to appear in the task bar because sometimes it appear but behind the JSP and it looks like the program hanged or something.
    Thanks !

There are two steps in running a JSP:
    1. The server converts the JSP code to HTML and sends it to the client.
    2. The client (your browser) displays that HTML.
Your Swing code there runs in step 1, on the server. At the moment you are running your server on the same machine as the client, right? So you see the popup window on your machine, because it is the server. But in real life the client would not see that popup window. It would appear on a different computer, in a room where nobody is watching it.
So, no, that can't be done. And no amount of changing it will make any difference. It's just wrong. If you want the client to see something, it has to be done in the HTML that the JSP produces. No Java code there, only HTML. If you really want something to appear in the browser's task bar then there may be some Javascript function that can do that.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Need to keep Tray Icon on the task bar permanent

    Hi everyone;
I wrote a Java program which creates an tray Icon on the taskbar and whenever the user clicks on the icon, a website on the default browser is open. When this program is executed, this icon is created and when the computer is rebooted, the icon is disappeared and next time I need to run the program again to create this icon. I'm guessing that this icon is disappeared because JVM is turned off.
I need to have this icon on the task bar every time that the computer turns on. I need somehow to automatically run my Java program when the computer turns on. I'm wondering if you know how to do this.
Thank you for your help in advance.

If you are under windows, you can put a link in the startup folder.

  • Why there is an icon in the task bar when Firefox is running?!

There is an icon in task bar, and some popup channels upon left-click.
I have been using Firefox for many years because it's CLEAN but this icon makes me feeling uncomfortable. I don't find the way to disable this icon in options or somewhere else.

    The iTunes Icon on the task bar;
    You need iTunes Preferences:
    Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced tab.
Can you find that? There is a checkbox near the bottom: "Show iTunes icon in system tray".
The safe mode start: You need to press ctrl shift and then open iTunes, keep holding ctrl shift until iTunes opens.
Any program that you have that makes use of your iTunes library could potentially prevent iTunes closing as it has to be open in order for another program to access iTunes info.
Another thing that can cause problems is Bonjour. You can try stopping the bonjour service and then opening iTunes - then check if it closes.
The following article include instructions for stopping bonjour:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2250?viewlocale=en_US
If you want a brute force way of looking for other things interfering with iTunes, try MSConfig:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
There is a link to the XP version on the page if necessary.
This is a diagnostic method, not a solution.

  • Why do I get a permanent wait icon and Basic C notice on the task bar on my XP when I burn disks using iTunes?

Why do I get a permanent wait icon and Basic C notice on the task bar on my XP when I burn disks using iTunes? How do I get rid of the wait icon when I leave iTunes?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • LabVIEW 8.5.1 executable opens on the task bar and then immediately disappears.

I have been using LabVIEW 8.5.1 for some time now and built several executables but now I have 2 executables that do not work on machines that I needed to install LabVIEW Runtime 8.5.1.
I installed the executable (which works fine on my development machine) on another computer.  It wouldn't run because I didn't have LabVIEW Runtime 8.5.1.  So I then installed LabVIEW Runtime 8.5.1, but I don't see it in the installed programs.  I now try running my executable again and it does open momentarily (I can see it in the task bar) but then it immediately closes.
I have since tried thsi with a completely different executable on a completely different machine that also needed LabVIEW Runtime 8.5.1 and teh same thing happens.
Any thoughts on why this is happening?

I don't know why it works by installing the device drivers but it does.  It doesn't make sense to me either.  It worked on 2 different executables which basically both read file, use graphs, do some simple math calculations and write an output.
I don't understand why couldn't the application builder know which packages are necessary for building an executable.  The builder already knows the list of LabVIEW VIs I am using.  I am sure some of those VIs are linked to some package.  For example, one of the packages says it is needed for 3D graphs.
    Thanks for your help, though.
