Running 2 operating systems...in trouble

hello all...
have been using 10.4, and just got a copy of 10.5. was worried about compatibility issues with my software, so i chose to install 10.5 on my 2nd HD, just to give it a test run. i previously had 10.3 there to boot up with, if something went wrong on my 1st HD. i switched between the 2 by restarting & holding down the option key. this brought up a window with all my possible startup operating systems. so...i upgraded from 10.3 to 10.5 on the 2nd HD....booted up in 10.5 to see if the install went well, and now, for some reason, i cant get back to 10.4 on my 1st HD. holding down option while restarting brings up that window again...only the watch icon spins, never letting me choose a startup disk. i then reinstalled 10.3 on HD 2, and still i am locked out of HD 1-10.4. anyone know what i can do to get back home...
thanks!
hb

ah ha!
startup disc in preferences...
phew!

  • Is it possible to run an operating system from an external hard drive?

Really weird question here, but I've always wanted to know this. I have a MBP 13" mid-2012 and I installed a 256GB SSD. I currently have OSX 10.9 and Windows 8.1 installed on the drive, but is it possible to actually run an operating system from an external hard drive. I don't want to install anymore operating systems onto the internal SSD because I don't want to run out of space. So, I'm wondering can I install Linux on an external hard drive, the same way I would on an internal hard drive and just plug it in via USB 3 or Thunderbolt? Is it actually possible to use a computer this way? I know I can boot from a usb stick, so is it possible to actually use a computer with an operating system installed in an external hard drive?

Is it best to run Windows 7 in Boot Camp, or would it be better to use VMWare Fusion or similar? It all depends on what your useage of Windows will be, for playing games install it in BootCamp, for word processing, spreadsheets, email. browsing etc a virtual Machne will be fine.

  • What does this mean? "You are running an operating system that Illustrator no longer supports."

Im trying to download photoshop as my first app with creative cloud and i keep getting this message , "You are running an operating system that Photoshop no longer supports. Refer to the system requirements for a full list of supported platforms."

You mention both Illustrator and Photoshop so it is not clear which you mean.   The message means you need to review the operating system requirements information on the following pages to see if your machine falls short of the requirements.

    kitkat,
Have you followed all the crucial instructions 1) - 6), as follows (copied from my post in the other threead)?
    Note: Very Important Instructions
You need to have a free Adobe account and be logged into it to use the links below, as Adobe sets a session cookie on your browser that allows you to access the direct download links. Otherwise, you will receive an “access denied” or “resume your download” message preventing the connection. So please follow these instructions carefully or the links will not work!
Adobe recommends temporarily turning off any surfing restrictions you might have running, like site or cookie blocking, filtering, firewalls or antivirus software.
Click «HERE» to visit this page and then select the “Download Now” button at the bottom.
If asked, then sign in with your Adobe ID or take a minute to create one for yourself.
Now close or cancel any windows that may pop up or any downloads that started.
OK! Now you’re logged in at Adobe with the trials cookie set, so you can instantly download any of the software below. Just make sure you have enough disk space.
Download the files either by clicking directly on the DDL links, or by right-clicking and choosing “Save Link As…” on the popup menu – and save all files to the same place.
Then follow the product installation instructions here.

  • You are running an operating system that Photoshop no longer supports.

I am finally upgrading from my Adobe CS6 to CC and paid for a Lightroom/Photoshop bundle.  I am running the latest OS from Mac, Yosemite 10.10.1.  But I receive the following error message when I try to download it:

  • You are running an operating system that Dreamweaver no longer supports.

You are running an operating system that Dreamweaver no longer supports. so i cannot download a trial version i am operating vista windows, how can i get this trial version
    thanks

You CAN find downloads of older trials here: http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl
You need to follow their instructions VERY CAREFULLY and completely, or the links don't work.
Of course, without a valid product key (which Adobe doesn't sell anymore, except for CS6 - maybe) you can only use them for 30 days.
