Running a 1DC remotely.

We are looking to remotely control our 1DC but running up against some obstacles. Perhaps some of you can help. Ideally, we'd run in wirelessly, but we can run cables if necessary. We are talking about distances from perhaps 20 meters to 200 ideally.
Neither of the two wireless DSLR controllers that I'm aware of, the camranger <http://www.camranger.com> and the k-circle <http://www.lockcircle.com> support the 1DC. Even the wired remotes like the okii <http://www.okii.net/> don't list the 1DC as compatible. In our tests, we couldn't get the okii to work with more than 6 meters of USB.
One obvious wired remote is the EOS utility software running on a laptop, but I'm under the impression that the EOS utility software doesn't currently support triggering live view and video record on the 1DC. Is that true or has it changed? Does anyone have tips on running this software at a distance of 20-100 meters? Are there distance limitations with USB to be aware of? Has anyone managed to use it remotely.
Other ideas?

Thank you for posting.
Given the distances you are working with, I would say that a wireless and USB connection are both out of the question here. The camera can connect over WiFi, but the operating range over WiFi is very limited. This is the case with any device and WiFi. Also, the maximum USB cable length specified by the USB standard is 5 meters.
The best thing to do in this case is to use the ethernet port on the camera for a wired connection. It is much the same as WiFi, but your range and reliability will be greater. The maximum cable length in an ideal situation is around 100 meters. Just like a WiFi connection, you can establish the connection to the camera using the WFT Utility and EOS Utility. The lastest version of EOS Utility does support the EOS-1DC and should operate both the still and video functions remotely.
One thing to note for video recording remotely is that all the video that is recorded is stored on the camera's memory card until shooting is done, then you are prompted to download it.

Run commands on remote Hyper-V host in different domain/network with powershell

Hi experts,
My Setup: Windows Server 2012 R2 / SCVMM 2012 managing localhost and other Hyper-V hosts
I need to run a script on the remote Hyper-V Host which is in different domain/workgroup using powershell.
I have tried
Invoke-SCScriptcommand cmdlet. But I am getting the below error
Error (2917)
Virtual Machine Manager cannot process the request because an error occurred while authenticating MY-PC-15.mydomain.local. Possible causes are:
1) The specified user name or password are not valid.
2) The Service Principal Name (SPN) for the remote computer name and port does not exist.
3) The client and remote computers are in different domains and there is not a two-way full trust between the two domains.
The network path was not found (0x80070035)
I tried the 'Run Script Command' option in the Host tab in VMM. But getting the same error.
Checked that it uses the 'Invoke-ScScriptcommand' PS cmdlet.
Could someone explain how to run scripts on remote Hyper-V host in different Domain/Perimeter network ?

I am getting the following errors while trying to run a report script. The report was created in Report Builder.
REP-0177: An error occurred while running in a remote server.
Reference parameter OT_RUN_DATE in the distribution list is invalid.
OT_RUN_DATE is a static field converting SYSDATE to a string (TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYYMMDD')). Unfortunately, I inherited this report and did not create it. I do not know what purpose it serves but would like more insight into what the reference parameter and distribution list mean.

Login wizard - CF9 server - "Coldfusion not is not running on the remote site" - YES it is!

I use Dreamweaver to upkeep sites for several friends and clients. When I use the login wizzard on a server with CF8, it works fine. If I use it on a server with CF9, I can't get past the *Coldfusion not is not running on the remote site* error. Yes it is running. I've tried connecting using FTP, RDS, directly over the network - you name it. Same error.
Any suggestions?

If you are trying to RDS log in to a remote server the host may have disabled this service... Most do, and should. Allowing remote RDS is a potential security risk. Check with your host to see if this is the case. If it is, it is always better to duplicate your host environment locally, that is be running CF9, and the database, be that MySQL, SQL Server, Access, or whatever locally and do all you development and testing there, then just upload the files when ready.

Check if IIS running on a remote server

I need to check if IIS is running in a remote server. This is what I have collected from web, but not working. Even though IIS is running in the remote-server, but this check always saying "Not running".

I get the feeling that IIS is not installed on the server. Get-WMIObject returns nothing when a filter is not met regardless of if it is run against a remote computer, or on the local computer. This could be enough to make some people think it is not working.
Log on to your server and run the first four examples - do you get any results? Then try the following four from a remote computer changing 'computername' to the name of your IIS computer.

How can you run keynote presentations remotely on new MacBookPro with retina display?

I have the new mac book pro with retina display, very nice. I present keynote slide presentations using the Apple remote, the small white one. However, this doesn't work on the new mac book pro. No IR port, I am told.
OK, no IR port, but surely there is another way to run a slide presentation remotely. I mean that is how presentations are conducted. So, who knows of plan B which would allow me to give presentations separated from my computer?

Checking for running applications on remote machines

I am trying to check for application running on remote machine - it could be LV or some other application.
I have Server and Client applications (developed in LV) running as .exe on separate computers. Only LV-Runtime is installed. They exchange data via Datasockets. The problem I have is that if Client is launched before the server the (Client) takes ownership of certain sockets which causes Server to fail on startup. All the remote Clients have to be shotdown before Server can be started again properly.
I was wondering if anyone has run into a similar problem.

I would suggest using Remote Front Panels in LabVIEW. Remote front panels allow you to view and control a VI front panel remotely, either from within LabVIEW or from within a web browser, by connecting to the LabVIEW built-in web server. There is a tutorial Developer Zone: Remote Panels in LabVIEW -- Distributed Application Development that will provide you with more information.
Also, there are example programs in LabVIEW that walk you through how to programmatically connect to a remote front panel. Go to LabVIEW >> Help >> Find Examples >> Networking >> General >> RemotePanelMethods-Client/Server.vi.

This minor code error may due to different version of JVM in your server and clients. I had same error when i change client JVM version with server version i could solve the problem..

I make an console app that use Remote Authentication in SharePoint Online Using the Client Object Model, that a I downloaded from MSDN.
This App run ok.
But when I like to make a Windows From App. This component send me an error in Application.Run(DisplayLoginForm)
This err msg :
An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll
Additional information: Starting a second message loop on a single thread is not a valid operation. Use Form.ShowDialog instead.
Is there any way to use a form inside a windows form?

Getting an error when running OPENROWSET on remote SSMS

Hi!
I'm getting an error when I execute OPENROWSET command
from a remote SQL Server Management studio. But has no problem when directly execute the command on our database server.
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)".
Is there anything I need to enable or configure?

OK, this is the information that we need.
"It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data."
Please check those 2 options:
* "already opened": at time the connection is ot working try to open the file localy with the excal application. If the file is in used then the excel will promp about this. If it is not give you any error localy then
try again from remoe (since the excel might take control if the connection is opened but not in used by remote connection). If you get that this might be the problem pls repeat this several time to make sure.
* "you need permission": This is much more common situation

You can change the SQL server to run as a AD user (with the security implications it has) and then give that user access to the file on the network

I'm trying to install iTunes on a PC running Win Xp remotely.

It gives me two seperate errors when installing and won't go through with the install. The errors are as follows:
C:/Program Files\Apple Software Update/ ScriptingObjectModel.dll failed to register. (HRESULT -2147010895)
Apple Software update/ softwareupdateadmin.dll failed to register HRESULT -2148024891
I also tried installing Quicktime on the same PC and it gave the same error. WinFixit wouldn't work. We tried uninstalling all Apple software, and then installing iTunes again. Didn't work. Please let me know of any other possible solutions.

It's windows XP with SP3 on it. I'm not sure if it's 32 or 64. I can't check until tomorrow morning when we link up again with remote desktop. I did have him restart after I uninstalled all the apple software (it took reallllly long for his laptop to boot up so if I can avoid any more restarts that'd be awesome, lol) It's actually for the president of my company that I just started working at less then a week ago. So I'm really hoping I can figure this out for him. Thanks for the reply!
Also, I might add I think he might have a malmare problem. When I was filling out the password box to get in to his router config for a different issue a box poped up trying to link to another site selling stuff. Do you think, his possible malware problem could be an issue with this install? The girl that was helping him the day before said she ran our companies virus scanner (sophos) and it found a bunch of malware and got rid of it. I'm going to try running malwarebytes tomorrow to see if our scanner missed anything.

View Planner 3.0.1 -- Issues running Single-VM-Remote-RDP test

Hi,
I am trying to run the Single-VM Remote RDP test as per the Installation and User Guide instructions.
When I start this test, the client virtual machine console blacks out completely and I am unable to see if any operation is going on.
Also the "viewplanner.log" shows "Connection started from the client: fe80::457f:815c:a8b6:317%13" message and I am not seeing any progress after that.
Has anybody encountered such an issue? Any ideas?

I deployed a Windows XP client system (as recommended) in the doc and was able to get the display working. Although I think it might have been just a display resolution problem with the Windows 7 client system.
I still can't get the test to PASS though. The viewplanner.log shows this:
