Running a "Refresh All" process for our BI reports created with Excel

Hi folks,
Using oData within Excel 2013 with Project Server 2013 Online.
In previous versions of Project Server, we ran the process in PWA>Server Settings to get the OLAP cubes to regenerate periodically.
Now, in Project Server 2013 ONLINE there are no cubes to generate.  As you know we access and create reports using oData via Excel.  No problem!
Can we spare the users of these reports from having to manually regenerate their reports by doing a 'Refresh (All)'?
Instead I was thinking maybe to create and run a script (VBA, etc.) and/ or schedule a task that will open the Excel file and perform a Refresh, save and close the file. 
Any recommendations, opionions or suggestions appreciated?

To have a "Scheduled Data Refresh" on your BI Reports in Project Online, you need Power BI for Office 365. The exact steps are listed here: http://ppmblog.org/2014/04/20/background-refresh-your-project-online-reports/
This is the recommended way, if the license cost is not a big deal for your organization.
If that is not an option, then I guess, the next best method is to create a desktop task to open and publish the reports.

  • Is mp3 licensing required for stand alone apps created with Flash Builder?

    I've been writing some interactive educational software in ActionScript that utilizes Adobe AIR and plays mp3 files to communicate/instruct the user.   I was wondering if I would need to pay mp3 licensing fees based on what I found at mp3licensing.com
    I wrote to the folks at mplicensing.com and got the following question in reply:
    Will the software itself include mp3 decode (playback) capability, or will it be using the decoder provided in Android.  If the software doesn’t include mp3 code itself, but simply includes mp3 files for playback by the hardware device mp3 code, than you would need our content distribution license, not our electronic gaming license.
    If this is true, then it may be that no license is needed at all, since we exempt from the need for our license any entity with mp3 revenues below USD $100,000 per year.

    I am writing this software in ActionScript using Adobe Flash Builder to create a stand alone application that will be bundled with Adobe AIR and use Adobe AIR to run.  AIR supports Android, iOS, PC desktops, and Macs. 
    they replied:
    I am not sure if AIR will play .mp3 files. If it does, and your code does not have mp3 encode or decode functionality, and AIR is simply used to play the content, and your revenues do not exceed USD $100,000 per year, our license is not required.
    My question now is:   Does Adobe AIR use the decoder provided in Android or does it have it's own decoding code?   Are we subject to the licensing fees for games, etc when distributing programs that play MP3 files using Adobe AIR?

    That site helps a little bit, but not totally.  My existing server is Windows 2003 with 5 CALs included, and it works, though not because I understand the head-spinning details of Microsoft licensing.  For example, I have no idea if I am actually
    using the CALs, since the only thing ever done on that server (aside from web, email, and FTP) is me logging in by RDP to administer it.
    I never considered 2008 Web edition because I might want to install something like the Access GUI, and the Web edition seems to forbid that.  It was not clear if you could install third-party ftp server or mail server also.  Web edition was a mysterious
    product and is not my reference point.
    It would be nice if Essentials could run a web server, since it's cheaper and simpler in terms of licensing.  But nowhere is that stated yea or nay.
    If I buy 2012 standard, do I need to spring for 5 CALs also?  I need to administer by RDP, and have the other server drop backups onto the disk of the new one.

  • Running reports created with Reports 9i in client-server configuration

    I need to have users run reports created with Oracle Reports 9i on workstations without any Oracle products installed on it, (in a client-server configuration as opposed to Web based) . I am looking for a step-by-step approach to accomplish this. I looked through the installation documents in OTN and I did not see one that addressed this.
    BTW, I saw an earlier post in this form which disscussed this,indirectly, for Reports 6i but I don't think these steps will work for 9i rpeorts

    You can write a .bat file for installation.....
    This file should do following things.
    1. Oracle8 Personal Setup
    Install only Database (no tools)
    2. Oracle Developer200 Setup
    Install only Forms Runtime
    Reports Runtime
    Graphics Runtime
    3. Use imp/exp to put the desired database...
    4. Copy exexutables in some directory and place shortcuts in programs and destkop
    5. Make new file-types in start->setting ->folder options-> file-types
    and specify that in which runtime-application you want to open your executables....

    hi audrey,
    there is no client/server runtime available for reports9i. what
    you can do is to use the rwclient executable shipped with IDS
    to submit jobs to the reports server.
    there are plans to provide a stand alone thin client in the
    future but this is not available yet.

    For starters, make sure to Check for Updates on any of the Help menus, and make sure the product has all the latest patches. MS did come out with a patch addressing the display issues on Retina Macs. Latest patchlevel is 14.3.2.
    We are talking about Office:Mac 2011, right?

    i have the problem that EMET is only running on the first open Tab-process in my Modern IE.(metro)
    Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account...
    In this picture i have 3 Tabs open in modern IE and on the EMET GUI says that only the first Tab is protected.
    On the Desktop EMET runs on all Tabs and Process of IE11.
    How can i use EMET on alle Process of my modern IE?

    there isn't any option to set this tab behaviour. your home page will be loaded on any new Safari window but new tab is always blank.

  • Issue with shutting down all processes for patch install

    I have been trying to install patch 6032088 on Win XP. I have shutdown my Oracle instance, processes and listeners. However, when I come to install the patch it fails because it cannot overwrite the oci.dll. This is due to the fact that a process is still using the file. How can I make sure all processes have stopped?

    In my case, when the Microsoft service starts up, they take this lock on the oci.dll in the database home. they must have found it in the path and gotten it first.
    Here is a note that discusses it happening. I am not sure which service starts up this msft com thing, but I'll shut some down and see when it stops happening.

    it breaks patching/provisioning as well. i contemplated renaming it, or removing the home from the patch.. seems like renaming will be easier. how annoying.

  • FO processing for XML Publisher Report Bursting Program

    Hello,
    I am facing the following problem: if i try to burst a report using XML Publisher Report Bursting Program special characters like (ş,ţ,ă, etc.) in the resulting PDF look strange. I have tried running the report without bursting it and the characters appear just fine (after i've set the FO Processing Font Mapping). My guess is that XML Publisher Report Bursting Program is not using the right font mapping. Have you faced this problem before? Do you have any idea how to set the right font mapping for XML Publisher Report Bursting Program.

    So the answer was to make sure the location in the bursting file (location="xdo://schema.template_code.en.US) exactly matches the language/country setting in the uploaded Definition. Then make sure the fonts have been added to the xdo.cfg file matching what your Font Mappings are:

  • Diplay all rows for a single report in OBIEE 11g

    Do we have any way to display all rows by default for only one report in OBIEE 11g rather than the regular 25 rows and clicking on all the rows. Without changing the configuration on instanceconfig.xml.

    Using Table View:
    Table Properties->Edit View
    Se the max number at 'Rows per Page'
    Or use Pivot Table View

  • PE 10 TRIAL: all clips inserted get changed to "created with PE 10 trial version"

    Installed PE 10 trial version.  when I add clips, immediatly they get changed to " created with Adobe Premier Elements trial version".  It happens all the time.  Inserting one two or any number of clips, they all get changed to "created with Adobe Premier Elements trial version". I can save the project and when I open it up it's the same results.  Any ideas as to what to try to solve this problem?

  • Known issues for OBIEE Office Add in with Excel 2007?

    Hi,
    Does anybody know if there are issues for the office add-in with Office 2007?
    i'm playing around a little bit to see how it works, but it seems that Excel interferes with the layout.
    I do get different grafs and also i tried the tutorial with the excel template and my changes come only partly through.

    i change the sap-menu with se43 and insert an own abap.
    The system creates a new tcode Y... .
    When i look into table TSTC i find the tcode wich is created with SE43 with the text of the menu,
    but not with the abap-name.
    Where can i find the relation between tcode Y...  and the abap?
    Does anyone knows the table?

    U should check your Y transaction by SE93.
    In generally when the system generates an Y transaction, it generates a transaction runs the standard transaction START_REPORT having as default parameter the report it needs to run.
    So it means the system generates a "Transactions with parameters", the parameters can be got from table TSTCP

  • Help required for our Crystal Reports billing reports

    Hi there, excuse me if this is the wrong location to make this post, just registered today and in need of help. We employee an in house developer and use Crystal Reports 2008, Service Pack 3 and have a couple of issues using Crystal Reports effecting the bills we email out to our clients and hoping someone can advise or point us in the direction of a partner who is an expert in this area.
    Issues are:
    We use a background colour for each section of our customers bill. When a section rolls over on to another page i.e. multiple sections we cant get the background colour grow to the bottom of the page. For example the customer sees the background colour stop possibly 1/2 way down the page.
    Intermittently about 30% of the time where the customer has more than 2 pages we get a blank page inserted with nothing but has our logo in the same position.
    Displaying $ figures using the default currency format on to the bill shows negative figures with the $ in front of the - i.e. $-2.81 instead of -$2.81
    We have an issue occasionally the last line on the bottom of a page changes the thickness of the line and also the position i.e. the line appears lighter & sometimes indented about 10mm.
    We would love to apply a banner down the right hand side of our landscaped page however the bill is broken into sections which we understand we cant have a full length banner? Open to ideas.
    Thank you for any direction on how to resolve these issues, we have been living with them for 3 years. As mentioned above happy to pay for any expert to help us through this or refer to a partner.

  • Script for the SAP report - download to excel - problem

    Hi all
    I know that similar problem had already been discussed but going through the solution presented in
    any of that topic I was not able to be successful  (I am beginner in terms of VBA and SAP scripting)
    What I would like to do is simply create the SAP script which based on the parameters filled
    in in the excel sheet (user form created) will connect to SAP and make the report which I would like to have saved on my local drive as an excel file.
    Everything is ok till the moment I would like to save it.  As you know SAP records the macro only till the moment some window pops up (where and under what name you would like to have your report  saved)
    Could you please advise  ?
    As a screen I attached also point where macro stops (maybe this makes difference)

    This should do the trick of copying your filename into the filename box in the SAVE AS dialog.As I said, I did not get to test it but that is the theory.
    Trial-and-error is the only way in many cases.

  • Data import for users of forms created with Livecycle Designer

    Hello,
    I have seen several posts regarding data import for forms created by Livecycle Designer but nothing that helps with something I am trying to accomplish.  I can create a data connection and import information in a form but what I would like to do is import data, then send the pdf for completion to a user.  There are a few data elements that I have available and the rest of the information comes from from the user.  The problem I run into is once I create a data connection, the pdf is ALWAYS looking for the source file for that data.  I simply want to prepopulate some fields and send to the various users for completion.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Which type of Data Connection are you trying to create?
    XML Schema, Sample Data File or WSDL?
    Creating any one of first two types(mentioned above) will only create schema and will never import any data into PDF.
    If you create the WSDL connection, you can surely import data (i.e. prepopulate data) into your PDF and forward it for users review/fill.
    If I misunderstood your question, please get me clarified.
